I have been using tax services in multi states in the United States and I have never seen such a mess with my state and federal returns this year. I had to show them what mistake they where making on my state tax forms by referencing another return made with a past firm and these clowns actually filled the wrong form all together. My federal tax forms have been held back for reviews, first time in my life. I paid for auto deposit on both my state and Federal returns and both were filed incorrectly. My forms were filed back in February and I am still waiting in July for my federal return which I just found on 7/27/2021 had been slated in half because of an incorrect social security number placed on the form.I am 64 years old and never in my life have I seen such lousy and unprofessional service. I will never return..........

Short version: paid to have my taxes professionally prepared and my property taxes increased by more than I paid because they were filed improperlyPaid to have my taxes done for the first time ever this past year as they were going to be a little more complicated than usual for me working in Maine and owning property that I maintain residency at in another state, a point I brought up in every meeting we had. When I was first called in to sign my return I noticed that no return had been prepared for my other state, we agreed I would come back the following week, I signed everything, paid for audit insurance, and walked away thinking I was happy. Shame on me for not reviewing in detail the review.I received my property tax bill last month and it notes that I am paying the higher non resident tax rate. I emailed and called several times with vague guarantee that he would look into this.As the weeks rolled on I investigated myself, found my 2018 return and noticed it had been filed as a Maine resident (not the other state we spoke about each meeting) and the other states return was missing 2 forms for the needed homestead declaration portion of the return. I need this corrected before 10/15 to avoid paying another penalty to my town (already hit once for missing the 4/15 deadline) and many emails and phone calls later I have seen nothing that gives me confidence this will be corrected in time

Scotts secretary is not knowledgeable enough to answer basic questions regarding a breach of security or even how much the business charges for tax services. Scott apparently is too busy or uncaring to return phone calls to those he has charged @$200 a return for if they did not pay the $35 extra insurance fee if they get audited. The 1st year we had him do current and past years taxes. The majority of the work was copy/paste of information, but each charge was full price. That was ok, as people have to make money..What was not ok was being told over and over by him, Well, paying me this $ is no big deal because you are getting back this much $ OUR MONEY is not for other people to decide what is no big deal or not.We live over 30mi away so the next year when the secretary scheduled the appt, we drove all the way down there to be told that Scott will get to them when he can and give you a call to get them signed. We had to go all the way back to sign and paid an increase of $10 on the fee even though we were not informed of the increase ($185 to $195).This year, the last time we will ever use his services, we asked about the fee and were ASKED BY THE SECRETARY WHAT WE PAID BEFORE?! I said we paid $195 and she wrote on the paper that we were not interested in paying more than that. At Scotts insistence, we paid additional fees to mail our return for the first time in YEARS certified mail, instead of efiling. Someone put forth an efiled tax return in our names just after they received our paper forms and we got audited by the IRS. After several letters, and phone calls to every bank we use, the police for a identity theft report, and the SS administration, I figured out the issue on my own because Scotts secretary could not answer my questions and Scott never returned my calls. We have used Scotts services for the last few years. We will not be returning. We will however, let as many people as possible know about our personal experiences and wish them luck if they choose to use his services.

I just got my refund. They gave me a payment option to pay after receiving my refund and filed mine right on the deadline, before it was too late.
