My experience with Maine Family Dentist was excellent. The receptionists were friendly and very attentive. As a new patient I was able to fill out all necessary forms right on the website, which I highly recommend. I was called back w/I a matter of minuets. Each procedure was explained and I knew exactly what was taking place before it happened. The dental assistant who worked on me was friendly and very professional. One of the nicest offices I have been to.

I had a cleaning and first appointment a couple months ago. Everyone was very nice and the cleaning was not uncomfortable; however, I was told once the dentist came in that I had needed 5 fillings (at age 26 Id only every needed one before). I was so embarrassed and scheduled them right away. Once home I decided to get another opinion and was checked by another local dentist. This dentist told me I only had 3 small cavities. I am appalled that an office would take advantage of a patient like that, and I will now be under a new doctors care.

Just tried to make an appointment for my sons. The receptionist assumed she knew what I needed and referred me back to my previous dentist. We were looking for a new dentist and have loads of work required. Too bad. Looks like theres a tonne of competition in Bangor. Probably not the best way to handle calls looking for appointments. As they say, everything happens for a reason. I guess we werent meant to be patients here.

Staff is very friendly ! They dont criticize you on the condition of your teeth they try to help you improve the quality of your teeth. If you are not a dentist fan this is the place to come they make you feel relaxed and that you have the ability to stop if needed. I would and do recommend them to anybody who is looking for a great dentist that is caring ,friendly and good at there job.

Nicole and Dr. Buxton are great. Very friendly, flexible, funny, and relaxing. They will create a treatment plan that makes sense, not just the most expensive. The staff will work with you to schedule convenient appointments. They know you by name from the moment you walk in. They are genuinely concerned about their patients and get to know them. The entire staff alleviated my fears, made me feel comfortable, and provided excellent treatment. I actually look forward to going back. I cant say enough good things about this office... My husband and I really like Maine Family Dental . They are friendly from the front desk to hygienist and Dr Buxton too. They care about you being completely comfortable and strive for pain free dental work. This is the best dentist office we have been too. Nobody like the dentist but I truly have anxiety about dental work they make me feel relaxed with nothing to worry about while they are working on your teeth.

Maine Family Dental is the best! I became a patient a couple of years ago when I had broken a tooth in the middle of the day and they were the only practice (including my former dentist) who would even consider seeing me on short notice. They were so friendly and helpful, they got me right in and my tooth was fixed that afternoon. Im so glad to have found them! I have been back many times since then, for everything from regular cleanings to a dental implant, and I have received wonderful service each and every time. The staff is awesome, they know you by name and always greet you and make you feel welcome and comfortable. By far the best experience I have ever had with a dentist!!!

Something that Management at this practice is doing is very right! When you walk into the place, everyone welcomes you! Wow! Everyone from the receptionist to the dental assistants is concerned about you and chats with you to make you feel relaxed and assured you that you are in great hands. They clearly understand what it means to work as a team. When this dynamic is evident the level of care is most often exceptional. That has been my experience thus far. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet professional and all the staff is very personable. Dr. Buxton leads a group of dental professionals who are dedicated and offer a high level of care. I have been a patient for 20 years and cant say enough nice things about this practice. Everyone is so nice from the clerical staff who handle billing and schedules to hygienist and doctors. They are very good about monitoring your dental benefits and financing for my two children braces. They are like family members asking to see pictures of the new granddaughter. I see them once every six months and it is like we talk daily. The hygienist are very supportive due to my gag reflex. I wouldnt go anywhere else. I had lost a filling. Had no pain thankfully. Office was able to get me in in just a couple weeks. Dr. Buxton was able to replace it with no problems. There was absolutely no pain whatsoever involved. I went from an amalgam (silver) filling to a resin (white filling). It was a huge filling. More filling than tooth but he was able to work his magic and I walked away with the filling I requested. Dr. Buxton and his staff are top notch. Very professional yet relaxed and very friendly. I could not have asked for any better service. I definitely made the right choice when I chose Maine Family Dental for all my dental needs.

Arrived today for a tooth that had to be capped and a filling. I had the normal numbing for the procedure. I watched the whole procedure being done, I saw how they milled my new tooth and baked it to a glass stage. Way cool to see, I did not know that it would bake at over 1400 degrees. The experience as always is great, the staff will always give you answers and you leave a more knowledgeable person.The best thing ever was the new anti numbing shot at the end, I had been requesting Dr. Magarr to get this in for a long time, he finally bought it in, what a great experience, after the procedure was completed, he gave me a shot to reverse the numbing, it was minutes, and I mean minutes and my mouth was back to normal condition. I always used to have a mouth that was numb for hours. Yes it cost a little more, but it is worth every penny. Leave your dentist after a filling or two, bridge, cap or major reconstruction and be able to go to lunch or dinner, it is priceless! Thank you Maine Family Dental, your the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing service. They have all the latest tech, they used a laser to give me a filling and they use the modern low radiation x rays. I got the most thorough cleaning I have ever had there. I would recommend to anyone.

The experience was designed not to let a minute be unused. The reception staff came to me prepared. Insurance had been requested. They introduced me to the Dental Hygienist who explained the several tests--Xrays, cancer scan etc. soon to be administered and that I would see the Dentist at the end of her work, which I happened like clockwork and then I was escorted to the front desk where another appointment was scheduled.

When I search reviews on particular topics, I often wonder how credible the reviews are. Having found Maine Family Dental Practice online, I felt compelled to post an honest review. I am an average person with a wife , two kids, and a dog.After more than twenty years of being serviced by a particular Bangor dentist, some changes occured within the practice which initiated my family to search for another dental practice in the Bangor area.Let me say after more than 20 years, I realize now that not all dental practices are created equal. The moment I walked into the office I was surprised how warm and pleasant the staff was. I had some issues that needed immediate attention and within days Doreen at the front desk had scheduled me in to get them taken care of.I had more interaction with more information and treatment options in twenty minutes than I had in a decade at my old provider.My only regret is that it took so long to find Dr. Buxt and team.

The first time I went was for a second opinion and I was very impressed. Dr Buxton was honest enough to tell me that he wasnt really sure why I was still having severe pain chewing six weeks after having a filling done at another practice. (He sent me to an endodontist for further evaluation, and the tooth did eventually calm down.)So a few months later when an old filling chipped this place was my go-to. This time I was less impressed. The prognosis was much worse than expected-- I thought he could just redo the filling but the X-ray showed extensive decay under the old filling and the tooth would need a root canal because the decay was so close to the nerve. I was surprised because the tooth wasnt hurting and upset because Id had a complete exam a few months prior at the other practice and no mention was made of this. (Obviously thats not Dr Buxtons fault but just to explain where I was coming from). Dr Buxton was not particularly empathetic, just told me, you could wake up any day now with an infected tooth -- which of course instilled more anxiety. I know its not technically his job, but a little reassurance (ex oh, a root canals not the end of the world) goes a long way.In addition, the tooth next to that had a cavity and Dr Buxton expressed that that one needed to be dealt with promptly or it too would turn into a root canal. But upon checkout I was given an appointment almost 2 months into the future for that filling. I asked, Can it wait that long? and was told, Thats when we have an appointment which again was not reassuring. I called around and had the filling done elsewhere more quickly.

I have been coming to Maine Family Dental for more than a dozen years, and the staff is fantastic - friendly and professional. The dental care is great as well, when I needed a crown the one day crown process was wonderful - loved getting it done in one day, and the crown looks beautiful and has been fine. When my husband (a patient for even longer than me) had a dental emergency on a weekend, they returned his call quickly and got him in first thing on Monday morning. We are in good hands with Dr McGarr and Dr Buxton, and their dental and office staff.

Ive been gong to this practice for more than 15 years. I think the secretaries and dental assistants are top-notch. I had Dr. McGarr for dental work and was very pleased.After he left, Dr.Buxton put in 6 crowns on my upper front teeth. 3days after they were put in, one crown broke off including the post. (eating a thin crust pizza) I now have to wear a flipper which is annoying, limiting, embarrassing and forever reminds me of a poor outcome.

The staff is like a family and Im always pleased after an appointment. I would recommend Maine Family Dental to anyone seeking a new dentist.

For years I was TERRIFIED to go to the dentist because of terrible personal experiences and horror stories Ive heard from other people. So..I avoided the dentist for years. When I heard about Maine Family Dental (specifically Dr. Buxton) I decided Id get over my fear and give the whole Dentist thing another shot. I had a hefty list of work I needed and from the moment I went in I was treated so amazing, the whole office (who knew I was afraid, sobbing upon entering...yup thats how much I hated the Dentist) was extremely sensitive and supportive. Dr. Buxton has done a great amount of work in my mouth and he is always genuinely concerned with me and making sure I am as comfortable as possible! I recommend them to anyone and everyone!

An old friend recommended this office to me when I moved back to Maine and needed to find a new dentist, and Im glad she did! Dr. Buxtons painless dentistry and the same-day crowns make it well worth the travel. Ive now had several crowns fixed, and its only taken one fairly short appointment to get the entire job done each time. Id been used to having to return several times to my last dentists: once to get impressions, again weeks later to have the new crown installed, and then two or three more trips to try to get it fitted better. No more: here its done quickly and the tooth fits perfectly the first time. Also had a tangled-root tooth extracted and a dental implant, without any of the pain, swelling, or bruising Id come to expect with previous dentists. Didnt need any post-op pain medicine and didnt have to miss any planned activities afterwards. Thank you, Dr. Buxton, Nicole, and Miss Congeniality at the desk!
