There are not enough good words to describe the quality of service and products of this establishment. After looking around a lot I purchased my cello here. Regardless of your level or finances you can find a quality musical string instrument here. I left with the cello that met all my must haves in tone, quality of workmanship, and in my budget.

Amazing experience and super friendly staff. I got a tour of the facility and was able to see their luthiers at work. I came in to get a new bridge carved and Manny was super-friendly and helpful. I was even able to take my sister for her to play tons of awesome violins, as she is in the market for a new fiddle. In general, highly recommend. Best violin shop I have ever been to. Cant wait to return for future maintenance!

I Just had the best experience in Samuel Kolstein & Son Violinmakers shop. Buying a new bass is a huge step for me as a young musician in New York. After years of playing, the sound Im looking to get from the bass becomes clearer, yet the journey of finding that Instrument is very challenging. I am very lucky to be the owner of a 70-year-old German bass by Anton Schroetter, that is exactly what I was looking for.All of this wouldnt have happened without the amazing Barrie Kolstein and his team. Their patience and professionalism made me feel that Im at the right place for this big step. I must have tried 15 different basses that day, and even after playing this one, they had done great work with the bass making it suitable for my playing.I highly recommend going to the shop! Especially on the 19 of March when they will host the trio of Harvy S for a show.

No one will take better care of your cello than Jake at Kolsteins. Serious work done on the highest level; top off, reset and reshaped neck, most beautiful bridge Ive ever had cut. All superb, and yes..affordable! I am a professional cellist and have had work done on my instruments for decades in New York, mainly from the big names in Manhattan, none of them was better than Kolsteins on Long Island. My only regret is that I didnt find Jake sooner.
