Sid Mourning was great to work with. I have 30 ft+ cedar elms and large old oak trees and they did a great job caring for my trees. The arborist was friendly and seemed knowledgeable, he gave great tree health tips and advice during his consultation visit. The trimming crew was always on time, efficient, and cleaned up well. I had one issue with one of the branches cut and customer service was quick to respond and make it right. The final product looks great!

I highly recommend Sid Mourning Tree Service!Like many people, we had a large tree in our front yard damaged by the freeze in February. We had no idea what the extent of the damage was or how to proceed. Based on reviews we called Sid Mourning Tree Service to provide us with an assessment. The arborist came (in the pouring rain, no less) and gave us a very thorough explanation of what kind of trees we had and how they could potentially have been affected by the freeze. He was very honest in saying that this was a particularly unique event and that we should wait a couple months to see if the tree would rebound before scheduling a removal. He had also mentioned that because we reside within Austin city limits, we would need a permit to completely cut the tree down, but informed us that they could apply for the permit at no cost to us. He also left us with an estimate that seemed too good to be true. We did wait and it was ever more apparent after a couple months that this particular tree (Arizona Ash) was not going to make it. Imagine my surprise when I called a couple months later to schedule a removal/trim and they informed me they had already put in the application for removal and were just waiting on confirmation! We made the appointment and verified the original quote. When removal day came, the crew showed up promptly and got to work. In addition to the tree removal in the front yard, they also trimmed 3 large Red Oaks in the back yard. Every step of the way, they cleaned and cleared and stacked the brush and stumps in a haul away trailer. Nothing sat in our yard or in front of our house longer than a few hours. We spoke to a couple of our neighbors and they paid significantly more for less work and have 6 foot tall stumps left in their yards while ours is flush with the ground. These guys are pretty busy so plan for a month or so out for them to get scheduled. Everyone we interacted with - arborist, receptionist, crew - were professional and incredibly nice. We will definitely be scheduling regular trims with them!

Update: The manager, Kristy, contacted me to offer a full refund of our job. She was very attentive and apologetic and I greatly appreciated the level of customer service after this experience. While I cant speak if my situation was a one time issue with the quality of their work, I can attest that they will go above and beyond to resolve any issues!Original post: Do not trust this company to prune your oak trees!!! They initially sent an arborist to discuss/quote my project, however, the crew that arrives is not led by an arborist OR properly trained in trimming the trees. I have attached a picture of just one of the examples of what we were left with after a hefty $700 minimum fee for storm damage cleanup. I have learned from my arborist (second opinion - since i no longer trust this company) that this is a flesh cut (way too close to trunk - not proper) instead of a proper branch cut. Essentially, they cut the branch collar which is important for a healthy tree. This is extremely upsetting as they are not only one of the highest rated companies, but also the most expensive option. I trusted them to do quality work and they were unable to provide it. The only positive I have to say about this company is the hard working guys that came out to try to help me get my moneys worth on the ridiculous $700 minimum fee. (they went above and beyond to fill the allotted 3 hr minimum with extra landscaping tasks) However, the company does not seem to provide their employees the proper training or tools with the oaks! I never write reviews, but I have great concern that this company shows up as one of the highest rated in Austin but provides such poor quality of work. I hope others also speak up to also hold this company accountable!!

Super easy to work with. Arborist came out and assessed our 40 dead tree, scheduled the removal & permit. The team that removed the tree was incredible -- they were quick & cleaned everything up well when they were done even cutting the stump nearly even with the ground.

The Sid Mourning crew did a phenomenal job removing a very large Ash tree from my backyard. They worked really hard and thoroughly cleaned up all the branches. Nothing else in my yard was disturbed, they were skilled and conscientious.

Sid Morning’s has serviced our trees in Westlake for more than 10 years and always done an outstanding job. You will likely find cheaper tree services but not one that has the attention to detail a s reliability of Sid Morning. Typically they book for 1/2 or full day. They’ll send someone out for a free estimate and the schedule your service. Highly recommended.

Very unresponsive office when scheduling appointment - took several phone calls / reminder text messages to get scheduled initially.Arborist that came by for estimate was great.They completely lost my appointment for the trimming - no one showed up the day of service until I called the office in the afternoon, and they had no record of me on their schedule.To their credit, they did manage to find a crew last minute for the trimming. The crew showed up and asked me what work was to be done - I expected them to have detailed instructions from the expert arborist about what/where to trim each tree, and I have little confidence that they did the right work to keep the trees healthy.***After seeing the above review, the office called me to offer a partial refund and send the arborist back to make sure the trimming was done correctly.The arborist found a few dead branches that should have been removed, and one cut that was done incorrectly. They sent another crew out the next morning.This crew finished the job, but left all the branches very obviously on neighbors yard when they left, rather than my yard. I expect a cleanup truck will come soon to pick up the branches, but because my neighbor is mowing his yard today, I had to drag the entire pile over into my yard to clear his path.

They removed two enormous agaves that had not fared well during the freeze. One of them had shot up a 20-ft tall stalk. These agaves were very heavy and full of sharp spikes. This looked to me like a much more difficult job than taking down a tree. They took their time and did a great job, including cleaning up the mushy debris.

They were on time, very hard working and cleaned up well after the work was done. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend.

These guys are awesome. I could not be more pleased with the quality of the service from Sid Mourning Tree Service. The whole experience was very positive -- from the estimate appmt, to the actual work itself. Everything ran according to schedule. The guys doing the job were prompt and quite a spectacle to watch honestly. They looked like Cirque du Soleil aerial gymnasts at times, working the ropes and harnesses to get to hard-to-reach places. The team leader for the crew, Joaquin was wonderful to work with as well. Very professional and understanding of our needs. (We bought our house late last year and the property appeared to not ever have had any tree trimming or brush cleanup done EVER. It was a bit of a messy jungle). We were very happy with how easy it was to schedule an arborist to come out to the house and then how quickly we could get the work scheduled. Orion, the arborist, walked the property with us and told us about the trees and what each would need. He accurately estimated 2 days of work. The crew did a great job cleaning up and the trees look great.

We had a tree limb fall on a neighbors house and car in the evening. The next morning I called and they immediately got to work on scheduling emergency tree trimming. Sid Mourning Tree Service came out to look at some trees that were not doing well. They had been looking pitiful for a couple of years and we could not figure out what was going on. They came out and were able to diagnose the problem. We couldnt save the tree because we waited too long (roots were choking the trunk) but it solved the mystery.

Make life easy and go with Sid. We had tree trimming needs, as well as a semi-emergent issue with some broken branches. I called on a Saturday morning in a bit of a panic, and they had a crew out to me in an hour.They were fast, professional and cleaned up after themselves. I havent called around for bids for years. I learned, and now just always go with Sid and his team. He is fair with me and I am fair with him. Before my most recent tree removal this week, last fall I had my old Southern Ash removed while I was on a work trip. I occasionally watched them on the cameras (in fear since they climb, cut, and lower via rope—its very scary to me) and they called me when had questions or wanted clarifications. Recently, due to the huge rains and the fact our very large Hackberry is past prime had them cut down this week. In prior years I had them come out every couple years or so to trim so that this very large tree would stay healthy and would have less of a chance of falling on mine or my neighbors home. Looking at the cuts of the trunk the last couple of days we were surprised at how healthy the tree was in parts, albeit some very bad spots. Anyway, Pedro and his team did more than I what we asked, cutting some small branches away from our power lines. Frankly, I wouldnt trust anyone else. They know me, my property and my trees and I know them.

We were blown away by the quality of Pedro and his teams work! They showed up exactly on time and worked quickly and professionally. We have several large oaks and the crew took very good care to make sure they were trimmed away from our roof in a way that wouldnt hurt them. Sid Mourning has trimmed our oaks, cedar & palms three times now. It’s a really big job since we have at least 15 giant oaks on our property. They also opened up a beautiful view through dense cedar behind our yard and we honestly didn’t think it was possible to find a view of the hills. They have an extremely professional crew that listens and cares about the results and the trees. They also left the site immaculate which was no small task. We highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again.

When the crew came out to trim the trees, the supervisor went over the work to be done and I was impressed that he was able to quickly confirm my requests made during the bid process. The guys were thorough, quick, cleaned up the area and picked up the trailer with the cut limbs same day. I use this company every year. Very pleased. The trees (large oak, pecan and cedar elm along with a Chinese elm) have been shaped over the years and are beautiful.

Be careful about their estimates. They bid almost 50% under what we ended up paying once they came out to do the work and realized it was going to be much bigger.They said they will investigate and never got back to me. Just kept sending the invoice.Make sure your estimate specifies EXACTLY what will be done and don’t change anything so you can hold them to it.I’m still giving them 3 stars because the team that came out actually did a great job.The only reason we went with them is because their bid was lower so overall it was a bad experience.

Had a big, old, dangerous sycamore tree that was dropping large limbs. 2 weeks ago about a half ton of the top broke off and almost came through the living room! Did some research, called Sid, and they came the next day. The bid was fair, and we agreed the tree had to go. Romerio and his crew arrived on time and did a great job taking care of the tree and cleaning up afterwards. I’m happy the tree is no longer a danger to the house, and I would definitely recommend Sid.

Have hired Sid Mourning Tree Service/Good Morning Tree Service several times over the years, they are outstanding. This time I only needed minor trimming as the work they did 2 years ago was still holding up well, but we had so much rain this past spring that everything grew wildly. For the first time, I purchased one hour of labor to be directed by me upon their arrival. I planned what I wanted trimmed, and one of the limbs I wanted removed was large, about 25 feet long and hanging over our electric line, I wasnt sure if it would take up the whole hour or not. Additionally, there were several limbs over our roof that needed attention, but as I only had one hour, I placed a do in this order to everything, so I could get done what I most wanted to accomplish. Well, not only did they do everything I asked, they found many more things to trim, hauled away debris, blew the roof clean, cleaned the deck, and blew leaves from my front yard (where they never even worked). They are excellent at trimming and made everything look sculpted and flowing. They took care to cut away limbs that grew down towards my roof so I wouldnt have to worry about them in the future. The large limb was taken town with pulleys and ropes in sections to avoid the electric line that was inches away. It was fascinating to watch. Leo, the foreman, is a consummate professional. All I had to do was point and he already knew exactly what would be best for that area. And now for the amazing part: THEY DID IT ALL IN 30 MINUTES !!! Hire them folks, they are worth every penny, every time!

Workers arrived on time, promptly got to work, and had the fallen tree cleared in a very short time. Next we had requested that they cut off branches from other trees that were touching the roof of the house. Again, the work was done quickly and competently. Clean-up was also thoroughly done. This is the third time we have used Sid Mourning Tree Service and each time has been an excellent experience.

Sid Mourning Tree Service’s crew removed a large dead tree while navigating around power lines, my fence, and a 15 year old tree adjacent to the one removed. The crew was punctual, professional, efficient and protected all the obstacles on my property. The price was very competitive. The office staff was professional and helpful. The reasons this rating isn’t five stars is because we lost time with three arborist visits from the company due to lackluster due diligence; and extraneous communication with office staff to receive insurance information when we were collecting quotes from multiple companies.
