Had reverse shoulder replacement. Called around different surgeons for pricing and made our choice. Unfortunately we could not get prices from the surgery centers, thats a surprise in the end. We received our hospital bill after the down-payment & co-pays up front, and it was astronomical!2 hours in a surgery center, thousands & thousands of dollars. We decided to dispute this because it was about 7 xs the price of the first surgery center that we thought was over the top, and called the Karis group. Everyone there is knowledgeable, consistent as far as following up & keeping us in the loop. It always seems like these hospitals can just charge you whatever they want, The Karis group took all of the stress out of the situation. We literally left it in their hands & are grateful that we did. I cant even express the relief of not having to deal with being taken advantage of by the medical billing department or have that payment for life hanging over our heads. Karis provided no help to me with getting my hospital bills decreased. They just told me the option was to put the $37,000 bill on payments or pay it now to $18,000, which is what the hospital already told us on the bill. So Karis did not help at all when we were paying then to and heard all these amazing stories before of them doing so. They were horrible.

Prior to that I worked with Claudia Aguilar, and often felt that she did not communicate, read the emails and know exactly what was going on. I must say that Juan has been much better keeping me informed and is on top of everything. He calls and updates weekly and is always very pleasant, positive and professional. This has got to be the hardest company to deal with I’ve ever come across. They COMPLETELY dropped the ball on negotiating my bills. I could have saved time and done it myself. Now all of my bills are in collections and my credit has taken a major hit. Do you think The Karis Group cares?! No. But it wouldn’t know either way because I can’t get anyone on the phone. I was excited to get “help” with a confusing medical billing problem but all they did was relay a discount-if-immediate-pay-in-full offer. No good. I thought they were going to help get my insurance co (Cigna) to cover what they should and/or get the hospital to fix a coding error but all they did (after 6 or 8 weeks wait) was pitch me a bit of a discount from the hospital to pay in full. They did nothing to help me deal with the insurance company. NOT HELPFUL.

I am very satisfied so far for what they are doing for me.
