When we started ordering from this place about 9 months ago, we really appreciated it for the quality, which is solid when you get the right thing. Three times now, Longhorn has given us choice steaks when we ordered prime. In each case, after sending an email to the store with pictures of the steaks, Longhorn offered to let us return to pick up the correct meat free of charge. They did always give the correct meat on the second try, but this is a hassle. One time this happened with 4 ribeyes, T-bones, or some combination of the two, Longhorn only gave us 3 steaks when we came back to pick up the corrected order. It was not worth the hassle of going back again at that point. Most recently, I ordered stew meat and bacon, but the stew meat came with lots of thick connective tissue that had to be peeled off (in the past it did not) and the bacon was not sliced (in the past it was).I’m really starting to think it’s not worth ordering from here any more. We love meat and spend a lot of money on it, but I don’t have the time for all this hassle and I want to know what I’m getting so I’m not disappointed. Most of these issues would be resolved if Longhorn let us visually inspect / choose meat in the store before buying. Maybe we will give this place a try again once they allow in-store shopping. For now, I cannot recommend it.

As other reviews have recently stated, my experience with Longhorn was disappointing. Ive been eyeing their store from the neighborhood a lot and as they only offer next day delivery as the fulfillment option during this remodel phase, it seemed like an Amazon bell to us meat starved Pavlovian dogs.So I placed my order on a Thursday online, and received auto confirmation shortly. They let me know their delivery window is between 11a - 6p the next day, Friday - superb. Friday comes, and we wait all day for the order, relentlessly refreshing the tracker saying its out for delivery. At 4:30p, thirty minutes before their stated closing time, I try calling multiple times for an update. We have plans that evening and cant be sticking around all night waiting for this sack of meat, so any update would be appreciated. No one answers their phone after multiple calls, so we wait around until 6:30p and the order never shows.I thought that perhaps theyre closed permanently, or theyre running an online meat ordering scam which they never disabled after going out of business. Feeling burned by a local, private business 2 miles from my house I figure I can cancel with my credit card and just go to HEB or Salt and Time the next day.The next morning, 16 hours after the stated delivery window closed, I receive a knock as Im about to head to HEB and buy another $100 of meat. Its Longhorn with my order. Sorry for the delay, some one should have called you to let you know. ...Yeah, someone probably should have called. Communication is the bare minimum in customer service, maybe just fire off an email if you dont want to call? I get it, no one likes the phone anymore, but maybe shoot me a text at least so Im not late to non meat related events that evening?Anyway, I smoked up the meat. Ribs were enjoyable but the chicken wings were dodgy and smelled a bit ripe. Being no strangers to the wing circuit we made it work. Im not planning on returning since LMM seems too busy to communicate with their customers so they wont miss my meat money. I will stick with more reliable options that are in the hood.TDLR: not worth the trouble

Really terrible customer service.Contacted the shop via email on Monday trying to get a quote for approximately 160 pounds of meat spoke with Brittany. Was quoted a price and told to place the order the day before and arrive for pick-up after 11 because of restaurant orders being filled first. Cool no big deal. I call and place the order the day before also speak with Brittany on the phone. At no point in the week did anyone find it was pertinent to let me know that they have not been receiving one of the items I was ordering, they didnt think it was important to let me know when I placed my order. No, after driving to the shop sitting in the parking lot for 35 minutes because our order wasnt ready at noon like I was told they come out and tell me they are missing 60 pounds of the meat.Okay I will take the other 3 kinds, find a work around for the other type. Sit in the parking lot for another 15 minutes only for them to come out and tell me that the price was 320 dollars, more then I was expecting for the entire order which I wasnt getting.He explained to me that the prices I was quoted for all of the meat was also wrong.Quoted 1.59 per pound they were charging me 2.99 for 100 pounds of the meat. When shown the email I get told there must have been a mistake.My advice, avoid this place. They dont check their Quantities on Hand before taking orders, they dont communicate at all when orders cant be filled, and they quote you one price then try to switch it on you at the time of. As someone who manages a customer facing local store, find another local company to support.

I left a glowing review of the first 3 times I shopped here. Now I have had a really disappointing experience. I ordered a USDA prime rib eye roast for Christmas. At $152 I was expecting a roast that would wow my family. The shop was mobbed for Christmas which I was happy to see. Unfortunately when I got home what I had was at best a USDA select piece of meat. There was literally no marbling in the meat. I ended up with a 4 bone rib roast that was a tough a nails. I am really disappointed after such good experiences.

Bought a leg of lamb online. They charged me and told me to come pick it up anytime. I came in the next day (20 mile drive through damn Austin downtown traffic) and they didnt have it - apparently shipped it out to a restaurant. Then they tried to screw me on the refund - glad I caught that one. They really arent worth the trouble. Its easy to order online but with this curbside delivery they take forever to get your order out. Much easier to just call a local butcher shop like Whole Foods, Randalls or HEB and get them to order it for you.

Awesome customer service. I couldnt find Picanha steaks in Austin until I stopped here. The staff were very helpful and gave me the exact tri tip cut I needed. Thanks guys.

Cons: Ordering online for curbside pickup is pretty slow, probably takes 15m or so after arrivingOrdered 2lb of vacuum packed hanger steak and received 10oz wrapped in butcher paper. Replying to the order confirmation email yields an error and contacting them through theor website form has not yet yielded a response more than a week laterPork shanks on the website appear as being skin-on but the ones I received were skinlessPros: the tenderloin tips and tails are a crazy good value and delicious. Why would you ever order any other cut for non-steak use?The peeler farms wagyu flat iron is so, so good. $11 per steak and they are just under a lb. Truly one of the best steaks Ive ever eaten. More tender than filet, more marbled than ribeye and its only a flat iron!

I traveled over an hour and a half two separate times to pickup my order and there EBT machine isn’t working correctly. The third time Amber the manager charged my card over 322 and then told me she didn’t. I had to get a statement and prove it to them. Amber isn’t a very good manager and she wouldn’t even take the extra time to give me good customer service by calling EBT. This is discrimination big time.

It dont get any better than this they have great customer service and ther meat is the best.

This was my first time getting meat from there and I loved it. The meat was fresh and cut just right. I will definitely be going back.

If they didnt mess up every order I make it would be a good place to get your meat but I make a order around $200.00 each time and they have not Failed to either miss items or have just missed half the order entirely.

Did the curbside, ordered online. No problem. The beef ribs are great along with the chicken thighs we got. The prices are reasonable. I will return.

Update: Longhorn Meat Market is my #1 go to place for high quality, farm fresh meats at great prices! I definitely have worked them into my shopping routine. I love that they offer online or curb side ordering with delivery or curb side pickup. Their fresh sausage is very similar to the ones I grew up eating as a Cajun from Louisiana. They make eating locally farmed fresh foods affordable! Thank you for your great service and variety of products...you definitely set the bar!I definitely need to come here more often, especially since I pass it nearly everyday. Meats are fresh and priced really good. If you dont see what you want on display, just ask...they have nearly everything you can dream of.

Hadnt been here in years, Now back into smoking meats and you cant find better quality meats. Their whole chickens are so flavorful and come out so much better than the grocery store stuff. Friendly staff always willing to explain differences in cuts and prices. Best ribeyes Ive had the pleasure to cook in a long time.

This place is amazing. The quality and price of the cuts here are phenomenal. I don’t shop for meat at grocery stores anymore because they don’t come close to the taste that I can get here. Ground beef from this place is probably the best I’ve ever had in my life. The bacon is cheaper and better than grocery store options. And the ribeye I get here is sublime.I also like that I get to support my local family owned small biz!

The meat is always on point and the service is great! Prices break down to be similar to your local grocery store, but I havent had a bad cut yet. Their special sausage is the best - definitely worth trying. If I had any complaint is that they occasionally do get slammed during curbside pickup, but I get it, and I have realistic expectations that people are human.

Making porchetta for thanksgiving and ordered their pork belly. It did come frozen and curbside did have about 5-10 wait, but wow, I wasnt expecting a 16lb belly, was expecting more along 12lb range for the price. Our porchetta turned out great.

Great quality, local, and friendly!I recently ordered a small home pack, and the quality of meat is fantastic! Everything was labeled clearly and packaged well. The chicken was vacuum sealed. The bacon is thick, and has a good meat to fat ratio. The ribeyes had great marbling. They were a little delayed on the delivery (just like everywhere else during this time), and were very communicative during the process. Totally understand they are getting slammed with orders, and being able to keep me in the loop was super appreciated. Very happy they are selling these home packs. Can’t wait to order again!

Within the past year, I have started going to Longhorn Meat Market on a regular basis. Always excellent service, and best of all if you dont have a clue, they seem to help everybody find what they need. Hands down the only place to but brisket in Austin. For the quality of meat, their prices are excellent, and a huge shout out for them going the extra mile and staying open and making curbside pickup work!

Great meat and really nice cuts. I use the delivery service and its still cheaper (and higher quality) than the grocery store. The Hangar steak burgers are absolutely divine.

Unfortunately, Longhorn Meat Market hasnt figured out/implemented a successful Curbside Delivery process. Even a simple call us with your order number when you arrive for pickup or staggered pick-up times based on what time of day your order is placed would be useful. As I understand it, some ppl waited for almost an hour to get their order!

Ordered TWO slabs of beef plate ribs for curbside pick up. What I got looks like THREE cryopacked slabs of chuck ribs, some with up to five rib bones. They definitely do not look as advertised on their website. I was looking for the NAMP 123A plate ribs. I have been shopping here for over 30 years now. I have always had great service and found the cuts of meat I was looking for. The staff is friendly, the business is clean. I hope they continue to be in business. Its great to have one Austin business that knows its community.

We recently tried Longhorn Meat Market. We really like this is a local company, the options/variety in the home packs, the online order system, and the delivery notifications. Our order arrived incomplete and I havent received a response on a resolution (the reason for removing a star). Other than that, everything we did receive was very good and as expected. My only other complaint is that the cold pack was too small for the box and it wasnt really cold anymore by the time the package arrived, so the meat was only slightly chilled. The ground beef that was wrapped in butcher paper also leaked all over everything. This may be a future issue for the summer months.

If I could give more than five stars I would. Awesome customer service. Wanted soup bones and theyre closed sundays. Made an exception and gave them to me same day because theyre closed sundays. Not going to worry if I can find stuff at HEB anymore and will continue to support this place for the majority of my meat/bone needs after my experience. :)

Update:James from Longhorn Meat Market says our motto is to resolve everything and I will 100% agree they did. In my original review the online order and delivery went well with next day delivery, however there was an issue with my Tri Tip weight being lower than advertised, and when I tried to contact them through the website I initially did not get a response. Well, it seems they may have had some issues with the system at the time, but they did see this review and got in contact with me, which to me shows they really care about their customers, and took the extra work to get a hold of me. I can say that the Tri Tip I received as a correction to the error was as advertised for price per pound if not more, and the customer service I received was above and beyond expectations. I see that this company really cares about taking care of their customers and will correct any issues. I am upgrading my review, and I will be using their services in the future. Like I said in the first review, I like the fact that they have next day delivery and the delivery was perfect both times. And now I can say that the meat was as expected to the descriptions they have on their website, and the quality is very good. Again the delivery is a flat fee so I would suggest you order plenty of meat to make it worth it, but my experience now says that it will be worth it for the quality and quantity you receive.Original:Tried this because an offer came across a social media app with 10% savings. I decided I wanted to try meat delivery during these difficult times. Next day delivery sounded great due to other providers needing a week out before delivery. Ordered Beef ribs, pork spare ribs and tri tip. For online everything is a flat rate for the meat, which I was slightly concerned with because you are not sure how much per pound you are paying. Beef ribs and pork ribs were great and the price per pound was comparable to other vendors if not better. The problem was with the Tri tip. it was $18 for 1 order with the description saying average weight is 2-3.5 pounds. What I received was 1 pound 3 oz. This was disappointing as that is very high price for Tri tip. Then when I went to cook it, it had very hard fat on it, and when that hard fat was trimmed off, it weighed 9oz. This was an extremely expensive Tri tip. Tried to get clarity on how the weight is calculated with flat price online, and did not get a response using their website. So, from my experience, for ribs, you get a really good meat at a good price per pound, however for butcher cuts, there is potential for getting poor price per pound, and not seeing the meat means you may not get what you expect. Delivery was great and on time so there were no problems there, though a flat 14 dollar rate means you would probably want to order large quantities of meat to make it worth the expense.

I got a great deal on brisket, so I bought two! They brought them out to my car and were very polite! I will be a repeat customer for sure.

I am from NY and was in Austin for Vacation. I wanted some real TX beef to cook. We had no idea what to get when we walked in. As soon as I came in the door they greeted us with a smile and spent a bunch of time with us. They walked us through all of the different meats and what was the best for us to try. They are true experts when it comes to what to get and what you need. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for fantastic, fresh and affordable meat. I made sure to brag to my friends about how much food we got, and at way better of a price that I could have gotten anywhere else. It was reverse sticker shock when I realized how little we paid for the huge amount of fresh meat we got. Five stars is not enough for this place they are the best butcher shop I have been to.

My husband and I drove from Italy,TX to Longhorn Meat Market and we left home later than we expected but I called and Art answered and told him we were running 15 minutes later than their closing time on a Saturday, I told him we could go to another butcher shop if they couldnt wait, Arts immediate and cheerful response was WE WILL BE HAPPY TO WAIT FOR YOU. So we hurried and was welcomed at the door by Art and his wife Kelly ( 2 awesome) people. They helped us pick the meats we wanted and they cut and wrapped everything up. Awesome place, Ive been visiting for years. Whether it is getting a whole hog for a pig roast, or getting a freezer pack, or just meat for a single meal, theyve always delivered. The best is when I go in and ask for a cut of meat and tell what Im planning to do with it. They are knowledgeable and recommend something different, without making me feel like an idiot (which, I was an idiot, so great customer relations). It has turned out better than I planned every single time.

The sausage is amazing. Once you try it you will never pay for sausage out to eat again!! The value packs they have are a real value, i just picked a BBQ pack with 23lbs. Of meat for $54! Cant beat that!
