Soooo, things escalated…a coworker mentioned her son hangs out with a ‘barn’ kid… which led me to probe. I’d been trying to get back into riding for awhile. I’m now riding twice a week and volunteering. All I knew is that I didn’t want to be at a show barn. I’m 40 and over that. But I did want to be with a barn that valued riding and safety. I can attest the staff here value safety and learning about horses. It’s a place to be if you want to learn skills and enjoy horses as horses and not just push button…so, I’ve been back in the saddle for a month and my only complaint is they have yet to tell me how to buy a horse without my husband noticing.

This review is for the Coupland location. Fast answer by text, easy booking by text. Once I arrived at the location was not one available to receive us. I noticed someone sitting inside a truck but I wasn’t sure if they were staff or not. Waited 40 minutes for the trail guide due that she was overbooked and the only guide that day. Very sweet girl, very polite and apologized for the long way. The person sitting in the truck was staff for the company, Seems to be the person in charge to receive the money that wanted no interaction with us. Overall it was a good horseback riding. Just need to work on making customers to feel welcome.

My review is strictly for the booking process (I unfortunately had to cancel). I filled out an online form and was promptly contacted by text (my stated preferred method of contact). They answered all of my questions in a very quick fashion (even on a Sunday!). I was so impressed by how easy it was to book and how responsive and helpful they were. Im disappointed I had to cancel (my fault, not theirs!), because I am confident it would have been a great experience!

I’ve been impressed by the kindness and generosity of the staff here. I randomly stopped in because my daughter wanted to see the animals and the staff was incredibly nice and giving. The area is gorgeous and looks like horse heaven.

I didn’t book the horseback riding excursion but Bailey and Mackenna were amazing! They were patient knowing a couple of our friends were running late. They paired me with the perfect horse for my first experience and the trail and weather couldn’t have been more tranquil. I’ll definitely go back if the mood strikes for another ride!

40Ish minutes from the Austin area, there is a long dirt road that leads to the farm. Adds another 5 minutes. We thought we were lost but keep going until the end.We really enjoyed our time. The instructors were so friendly and love what they do. The horses are well behaved. Great for beginners, couples, and families with kids. We will be back!

Wonderful, peaceful ride with friendly staff! If youre trying to find outdoor things to do that dont involve a lot of people around and plenty of distancing, a trail ride with Tri-Star Farms is just the thing! Riding horses is not something we get to do all the time so it made for a fun activity outing.

The staff is super friendly from the moment you get out of your car. It was a wonderful experience for entire ride and I had great conversation with the other riders and the staff along the entire trail. You can really see the care the employees have for the horses and the customers who come along.

We had a group of four and they were able to make a same day trail riding appointment. 3 of us had never been on a trail ride and they made it very easy to learn and worked really well with the kids to make sure everyone was comfortable. Staff was super friendly and we enjoyed talking with them during the ride. Horses were beautiful and treated really well. Everyone had a blast and I would definitely go again when we come back to Texas!!

Great experience. Very patient for my inexperienced teenagers that have only been on ponies as young children. We are animal lovers so playing with all the other animals goats, barn cat, dog etc was a plus. We had Phoenix as our guide and she did great.

If you are ever visiting Austin and looking for a great experience i highly recommend Tri-Star Farm. My boyfriend and I had such a great trail ride. Great prices, super nice people, and beautiful horses. It was my first time on a horse but they were very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. If we come back to Austin we will definitely do this again!

Kathy (owner) is not only extremely knowledgeable but she is an incredible kind person! Her newly relocated farm is full of love of her job and most important the Animals (dogs, horses, ponies, chickens, roosters, turtles and even a pig!) The scenery is breathtaking. It is well worth the price!

Such a wonderful experience this past weekend at Tristar! I was visiting from the northeast and was looking to experience a beautiful ride on a Texas ranch. Not only are the owners and guide an absolute pleasure to talk with, but exploring the grounds of their new ranch on their fantastic horses was just breathtaking. As a newbie in Texas, I enjoyed not only learning about the state and their personal land, but also sharing war stories of the horse/animal industry. Thank you to you all, it was a true pleasure and when I return to Texas, I will surly return!

My daughter (17), my sister and I were in Texas looking at colleges. They really wanted to ride horses, and lucky us, Tri Star was on our path March 27th. We were thrilled with the place, the ride and especially Katie for making it happen on such short notice. I personally didn’t ride, but hung out petting the other horses and animals about the farm while they did. Katie also took amazing pictures for us while they were on the trail. I can’t say enough good things, just hope we are able to go back again sometime.

Riding horses has been something I have always wanted to do & I hunted around for about a year for someplace to take lessons that would be a good fit for me until TriStar Farm popped up! They are new to their North Austin location but not new to the Austin area. The stables are a quick 13minutes from my house in Milwood! It is reasonably priced. I ride every week for an hour but am there for about two hours. I am often in classes with other adults as well as a child here or there & would highly recommend Kathy for both especially a child if you have one that wants to ride! As a pediatric nurse, I can say that her communication skills with children are excellent! If I owned a horse, I would also board at TriStar without hesitation as the animals are all very well taken care of.

Kathy Ellerbeck and Austin Tri-Star have helped give my horse a happy, healthy life and have shown me how to be a better owner and rider. My horse gets excellent care, theres room to ride, the people are all supportive and helpful to each other, and Kathy is a fantastic trainer and instructor. LOVE this barn.
