Im writing this review after waiting 2 hours again. Ive come here four times over the last 2 months and have been told each visit only 1 person is ahead of me or you are next in line. As I sit here sitting in my own sweat, since there is no ac, I am never coming here again and do not recommend anyone else to either.

Have been going here for years. Really like senior day. Good people great service. Why go anywhere else for a haicut.

I’ve been seeing Billy for a few years now. He gives excellent cuts. Takes his time and you don’t feel rushed. He should be charging me for a therapy session since Billy is one of the kindest men I have met. They should charge More but I’m not complaining.It’s old school so first come first serve and cash only.My son comes with me now as well for the past 2 years since he was 3 years old. Billy is great with kids and so are the other staff. Billy always gives my son a quarter for a gumball at the end and even a second quarter for the little brother who doesn’t get his hair cut. I have referred many friends and friends kids. You can’t go wrong.

Adolphs is a nice, old school barbershop. The staff there are incredibly friendly, and are easy to make small talk with. Its impressive to see how many precautionary steps they have took to keep their customers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.The haircut I got wasnt exactly what I had wanted, but thats mostly because I have a funny shaped head.. No fault of the barber!

I understand that due to the pamdemic some precautions must be taken, but expecting to have a 6 year old going in by himself is ridiculous... specially when the kid doesnt feel comfortable being in a room by himself full of strangers. So disappointed.

This a basic, but straightforward barbershop.The quality of the haircut is entirely dependent upon who is free at the time, and how long one wants to wait for their pick for the best.The interior is nothing fancy, although I do enjoy the old western channel reruns playing while waiting.This place is CASH ONLY!Cuts run about $15, and a few barbers know how to use a razor.It is also open weird hours, in that it is open when people are working and closed Sunday.

This barbershop its one of the only locations in south Austin that open up early, according to my research... All surrounding areas open up around 9 to 11am, which is ridiculous. Haircut is of quality and was very satisfied with the outcome, was in and out in less than 30 mins. Heads up, THEY DO NOT TAKE CARDS, CASH ONLY. avoid the trip to the gas station next door and take your cash with ya. Will definitely be back to this location.

A family barber shop

Ive been coming here for years. Tried to branch out and see what other barbershops had to offer and have can still confidently say Ive never had a better experience than at Adolphs. I went in today for a MAJOR overhaul on my hair and beard and was pleased beyond my wildest expectations. I was so happy I way overtipped and still payed less than any popular barbershop around here would have charged me just for the cut. Theyve been delivering an incredible service at an amazing price for YEARS. I cant recommend this place highly enough.

The good nostalgic oold-fashioned barber shop. The bad new Barbers almost on always on rotation that dont take their time with cuts and give you the attention to the barber used to. Expect to go home and calm out your new do only to find that all they did was use Clippers without paying attention to cut length. The prices of value I just wish they would slow down and pay attention to what theyre doing instead of trying to get one more person in the seat Id happily pay more for higher quality cut

Gy is my barber. He is old school all the way. I have been getting GREAT haircuts from here since 98. The shop is always clean and very family friendly. They can get busy, but are worth the wait. Adolfs is a great place to take your son for his 1st haircut and to come back to again and again!

Great people here. Haircuts are $12; however, I usually pay $20. Everyone is usually very nice and they cut my hair the way I want it. Thursdays is the best day to go as its usually the slowest.

My husband LOVES this place due to ONE barber in particular who cuts his hair very well- sadly he is moving and wont be there anymore which is why I cant give the place more than three stars. Its very hit or miss. Some of the barbers cant cut hair well at all. Once when my husbands usual barber was out of town he decided to just get a cut from a guy whose chair was open at the time and he gave him the WORST haircut Ive ever seen. My husband has very short hair and the guy took a CHUNK out of it. It was very obvious and it took awhile to grow out enough to fix.We took my 2 year old here for his first cut as well and they didnt do a good job with that either.Since our good barber left we wont be coming to adolphs anymore.Its super cheap though. If youre looking for the cheapest haircut in town you cant beat their prices.

Ask for Steven, trust me ..you will thank me later. I went in with a very raggidy/dry looking hair. I let Steven do his thing...he took his time with me, paying attention to detail and did an awesome job. Only wish I had taken before and after pics.

Without a doubt this shop is severely lacking in talent. This shop runs on a first come first served basis which I dont mind but every person who works here is only concerned with speed and not actually doing any decent work. I decided to give this place a try both for the reviews and price but you get what you pay for I guess. When I was given the mirror to look at the finished product I was just disappointed to say the least. I only wanted just a normal trim on the sides and top with a taper in the back but my haircut is what you would expect from Supercuts or any big chain haircut place. I highly recommend trying another more traditional barbershop where the barbers actually know what theyre doing. Very disappointing experience but luckily my hair always grows back.

Billy always gives the tightest fades and the best service. He even bought my son a gumball while he waited for Daddy to get his haircut. He pulled out a book of stickers, too, to keep him occupied. Plus I left looking like a million bucks!

Brought my teenaged son in to get a cut. I thought this would be a good place because of reviews and prices but i was VERY mistaken and fooled! I was hoping to get him looking good with a nice hair cut before graduation but got the exact opposite! Asked for a bald fade with a straight razor edge up. And come to find out theyre all cosmologists and cant even use the razor! (Which was failed to be mentioned until the end of the haircut that was requested). Why be a barbershop without being able to do what BARBERS do. The fade was terrible, left with lines, and with no seeming effort to blend in the fade so it looked like something I could have done! Well just say, the next day I went to a REAL barbershop and paid, again, to fix my sons hair cut.

I have been going to Adolphs ever since I moved to Austin nearly 4 years ago. Old school that I grew up with Billy or Adolph are my personal choices, Billy cuts my hair mostly. A real haircut. Cheap..efficient and the old school slap and tickle conversations. I will never go anywhere else!

Ive had my hair cut here twice and left looking damn dapper each time. While its not especially hard to find a competent barber, it IS hard to find a place with such an honest, old-school, no nonsense atmosphere, low prices, AND great barbers. So when you get tired of (or bankrupt from) playing around at those hipster hair joints, or dont feel like risking amateur hour at the old Super Sport, get your grown man pants on and head way the hell on down on Manchaca to Adolphs.Guys my guy.Dont forget to tip your clippers.

First time going in for a haircut. I had been going to a different place but decided to try this one out after reading positive reviews. I went in and rachel was the one to cut my hair. When asking for a taper she did not know exactly what it was, when doing the taper she used a comb to guide the razor. Haircut was quick there is no taper, the cut looks bad. this a decent place if you need a quick regular cut. If you needing something more then should go somewhere else. Very dissapointed with this place never going back

Some jerk really screwed up my Husbands nice hair the other day!! Like...gave him lines to tie into his beard... He said he wanted a simple #2 fade with a trim!!! I dont get it??!! How do you turn that into shaving his widow peak off, giving him receding hair lines with stupid triangles shaved into the sides of his hairline? ??!!! Seriously. My Hubs hair will take a long time to grow back and his look is really important for his job. I am completely shocked bc he has always had a good visit here previously. This new guy should be fired! My Husband was too embarrassed and shocked to say anything when he left the shop. Im not. This is bs. I want someone to contact me about this matter. Not cool at all. He has to wear a cap to his jobs bc of this. Unreal.

Basic mens cuts are up to 14.00 now and certain barbers seem to be in a sort of race to finish within 10 minutes. Its no better or cheaper than supercuts or great clips now.

READ REVIEW: I have had my hair cut at a lot of very fancy hair salons who do a great job however I am shocked that very little people know how to do a buzz cut correctly. Upon arrival to this 50 year old baber shop I was a little concerned at first being only 12 for a hair cut. I ended up getting Billy who is super old school who cuts brush in hand so no hair gets on your face or neck. He is the only guy in Austin that does a buzz cut and still hits the whole perimeter of ur head not just your neck. After some small talk with Billy I said you think you can do a straight razer trim on my beard and thin it up. He responded absolutely I can. He did such a killer job that now I dont even like shaving any more except for when I get a hair cut. LOL. $30 which includes my $8 tip for a buzz cut and straight razer cut is a steal if you ask me. I do not know how well they do on other hair cuts; I can say that I saw a lot of guys in the baber shop with more hair than me with some pretty killer trendy cuts. Check the place out and do not forget to ask for Billy. Their is something about the guy and his extra attention to detail that will keep me coming back. FYI I hardly am one of those people that gives reviews especially companies that constantly ask for them! UPDATE :: They are closed Sunday and Monday kinda a bummer was just hoping to get a cut today so I wrote this review even though they are closed
