They promptly gave me an assessment of my external hard drive. When I called prior to taking the drive in, I was told it would start at $400 and go from there. (Which made SDRS the place of choice out of each that I called. Of course it all depends on what the assessment of the damage is.) Although the lost data on my external hard drive would not have been fully recoverable, (only some small files) It was a bit more costly than I had hoped (over $2600), encouraging my decision to wait. Through the entire process, Jonathan Nguyen of Secure Data Recovery Services provided me with excellent Customer Service! He was very communicative and understanding and sensitive to my loss of data. Understanding my decision, he promptly shipped the item back (for $28.95) and provided me with a tracking number.

We used an aging external hard drive to move our information from one computer to a new desktop. when we tried to recover the info, the drive failed! Although I ended up not using this service to recover my hard drive (because I was able to get to work files from a shared drive/work colleague), I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of Secure Data Recovery services. Company successfully restored my data and did so in a timely manner. Only reason for 4 stars instead of five was that service wasnt cheap and I had to do the work to package and ship my hard drive to them. I also had to pay extra for the external storage media to which they transferred my restored data. But Id use them again, if I needed data recovered.

As a full time wedding photographer, your worst possible nightmare is to have a hard drive fail while your editing photos one night. That is exactly what happened to me. I literally felt sick since since many of the photos were ones I had not backed up on other drives yet. I had heard horror stories about hard drives crashing and failing and NEVER thought in a million years that it could ever happen to me. I was WRONG. I panicked.
