I used to love Atlanta Humane Society for their vet care. It was a win-win situation. I donated every month, payed vet fees and got vet care for my dog and cat. However, nothing has been the same since the pandemic. Now, they never return my calls to schedule vet appointments. I brought my pets for many years. Now, they are not reliable.

Had such a lovely experience. Such a clean facility. Making sure you wear a mask and sanitize your hands which is treasured dearly in these times. The sign in digitally was a breeze and the email I got after adopting Myrtle(NaNa)Congratulating me was sweet. Bradley was especially sweet and attentive we had a three hour drive and she accommodated us so well. I highly recommend getting your fur-baby from Atlanta humane society. Plus they send you home with a bag of food and tell you everything you need to know. Such a pleasant experience Id come three hours again if I adopt again.

AHS is an amazing organization that does so much good for our community. Its a great place to volunteer, become a foster or adopt your next pet. Everyone Ive ever interacted with cares so much about the animals and its been great to get to know the staff better over the past year since we started fostering. Im always so impressed by how much care and love is shown to the animals in our community who need it most.

Ive spent all week in several vet clinics and this was the only that truly cares. These people are incredible, exceptionally friendly despite being extremely short staffed and flooded with work. It surprises me that the veterinarian at AHS is extremely knowledgeable. I have my cat for 3 years now during which I seek several vet treatments/cat owners advices. The vet knew exactly what is happening and recommends more! The service is far more professional than a few other places in Atlanta. And the cost is, needless to say, very affordable!

I was in line before they opened, determined to get a kitty. I had been searching for months for a relatively young cat that I could train a bit to be an ESA. I was actually hoping for a female cat and was a little disappointed that I misunderstood what I had read online. (The cat was in foster and I had not realized). As I start to walk around the housing area, I hear this loud meowing and I keep getting drawn to this kitten named Dude. So ask to take him to the play area and within 5 min, hed stolen my heart and was mine for sure. The nice lady there had our adoption papers in minutes and with a total process of about 30 min, I was able to take my little baby home. His new name is Cucumber and hes such a treasure. My friends just cant get enough of him either. Would definitely recommend that anyone looking for a fur ball to love and add to their family without the extensive hassle, go here. You can tell the pets are well taken care of and the staff are just looking for someone to love and care for these animals. There was one lady in particular named Jennifer, that really made the adoption go perfectly. She was so helpful and kind to me and made sure that Cucumber and I were squared away. I will definitely be donating, I cant thank them enough for helping me find my support animal and new little buddy.❤️

I love the Atlanta Howell Mill Humane Society. I am giving them a rating of 4 stars because although I love them I am also disappointed with them. You see , I have not been able to get an appointment for my Chihuahua to see the dentist. Several times I was able to take both of my fur babies into the facility and they were treated Royally. They got their shots , one had her teeth cleaned and they were given physicals. One even had surgery on her leg . I was very pleased. Duke my younger dog was to be scheduled to get his teeth cleaned the following couple of months and I was told they weren’t cleaning any teeth right now !! I was disappointed! The next blow was when a wild animal attacked Duke and he needed surgery!! I was told to find another vet because they were not performing surgery! I was so scared. They knew Duke and they knew I loved him but no help. I had to find someone else and I did but I really didn’t trust them like I trusted the Humane Society. You see I had experienced bad veterinarian care for a dog I had that died and my son suggested the Humane Society to me because as he puts it “ they care about dogs . They kiss them in the mouth.”The bottom line is this, The Howell Mill Humane Society is the best place you can take your fur baby provided you can get an appointment.

Please, if youre at all able, do not take your pet to the vet clinic. While Ive always had great service once there, its impossible to get in for a sick pet appointment. If you take your pet there for routine matters, you are not establishing a relationship somewhere else when you need a sick pet appointment. Therefore, youre left stuck going to an urgent care or brand new vet for a sick pet appointment (which by the way is impossible). It will put you in a terrible situation. Also, the fact that I cannot pick up the phone to talk to a real person and make an appointment is very frustrating. To be forced to go to the web portal to make appointments is frustrating, cumbersome and not personal at all. Overall, the vet clinic is so frustrating to work with, even after having been a client for 10+ years. I cant handle the insanity. Avoid at all costs!!!

I cant recommend this place enough for their veterinary services, they were awesome from start to finish. My cat doesnt travel well and tends to get sick in the car, but they were so understanding and even cleaned up him and his carrier and provided another towel for him for the ride home. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, they even answered questions unrelated to the services we were there for. I was also impressed with how clean the whole place was and how reasonably priced their services were.I cant speak for their adoptions process as I havent adopted from them, but if its anything like their vet clinic, Im sure its fantastic.

Warning! Loooonnngg review ⚠Warning!Edit : changed to 1 star. Now to get the REAL recognition that the star ratings get on Google, I decided to switch it.I made the decision to bring my wife and middle child to the facility that I had worked for over 15 years ago to show them (my family) a truly genuine passion for caring for the animals and the experience was nothing less than severely disappointing! We live in West GA, and after looking at BUCK online for the past few weeks, I finally figured that it would be nice if we could even see him in person, to see if he would be able to make a good fit into our household.Well, as soon as I asked to have him taken out of his kennel to spend time with him, a volunteer looked at me (and I felt like I was sick or something, like how could you want this dog???) at that point, before I knew anything else, we (the voulteer and I, in front of my wife and son) had a staring contest before she told me that she would have to get an actual staff member to do that because he has had a history of less than acceptable behavior. Now in my head Im thinking ok challenge accepted , but after I spoke with the manager, I was told that the adoption would not be approved (before I even got to TOUCH BUCK) #fail! I am not bashing BUCK nor any of the other animals at this establishment at all, at any point, as I believe we all can make a difference when we set out to do so)I will elude to the fact that I (was) truly upset by the fact that I was SEVERLY MISLED by the companys active description of their available adoptable animals basically stating the dog (BUCK) was good with kids etc... (please see the photos) as I read, that because of what the dog had done, and because I had my 1 child (10yrs old) that they wouldnt be able to approve the adoption of BUCKS past! Mind you all I did was ask to see BUCK! Again I understand the political agenda behind THE ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY, even as a former employee, an experienced dog owner, I would never expect to be dismissed before I get the chance to make a difference in one of these animals lives!I WISH I HAD A BETTER REVIEW TO LEAVE FOR 5 STARS BUT I DONT. PLEASE TRY TO CONTACT THE AHS BEFORE YOU MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO ADOPT!YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK FOR THE THINGS THAT ARE ONLY SHARED VIA WORD OF MOUTH AND NOT WHATS ON THE WEBSITE.Think Im making it up go and see BUCK for yourself! Get him out of there if you can! I assume he needs to be an only pet no children???DISCLAIMER : our family was able to adopt a puppy from our local animal shelter and he will be VERY WELL cared for! (also see the photos)ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER : I know the life and times of animal lovers, dont make them extinct by making them non existent in the present!

This is the first place you should go when you are looking to adopt a new family member. Whether you are looking for a new bark to fill the air when youre trying to sleep, or if you are interested in a fluffball that will instead take up residence on your back (again, while you are trying to sleep). Either way, this is the place to be. The staff here is incredibly kind and caring and will help you make an appropriate decision so you can give a forever home to a grateful pet.If you have a pet who needs veterinary care, they have a clinic here that is top notch and their fees are incredibly affordable. Need a spay/neuter done? They also have one of the most affordable services around, so call then today! And if your pet is approaching their time to cross the Rainbow Bridge, they have affordable services so that they wont have to suffer. Even if you cant pay the very modest fee, they will make sure your pet will not have to be in pain. Many places try to charge outrageous fees to take advantage of your grief, but not here at Atlanta Humane Society. No matter what stage of the adoption process youre in, Atlanta Humane Society is here to help you along the way. From new adoptions, to vet care, and even spay/neuter services for a pet you adopted elsewhere, make Atlanta Humane Society your first stop.

I rescued a senior Yorkie mix from the Atlanta Humane Society on 1/6/21. My experience was fantastic. The staff members were kind and helpful. The shelter was pretty busy that day, so we did have to wait quite awhile to complete everything. That said, I was impressed with the facility, employers, and care given to the animals. Based on my experience, I would recommend checking out the Atlanta Humane Society if you are looking to add a pet to your household.

The facilities are nice and clean as well as having a kind staff who want what’s best for the animals. Due to generous donations they are able to provide superb medical care. Rather than giving up on the dog I adopted due to a broken leg, they amputated it to prepare for his adoption. At the time of his adoption he had been there a bit longer than others. Tripods are still as fearless as any dog and he still makes a silly adventure companion. Anywho, support all shelters, big and small because the homeless animals need it in the age of designer breeds.

We are very disappointed in Atlanta Humane Societys DISHONESTY AND LACK OF TRANSPARENCY for adopting out dogs that have serious KNOWN MEDICAL ISSUES without having them treated or DISCLOSING  them. We adopted Cooper(ID:47727487) on 5/17/21 and he fit wonderfully into our family.During the time we had him, we inquired with their affiliated Veterinarian about an issue he was having.  After two weeks of consulting with their veterinarian it turns out that he has an ectopic ureter that would require corrective surgery to the cost of $4000-$7000.  Without this surgery he would never be able to live a normal life with any family. We were not able to afford/provide that life-changing surgical correction so we reluctantly returned Cooper to the West Midtown location on 6/13/2021.We talked with a member of the staff and explained the situation and the diagnosis by their affiliated Veterinarian.  We told them we would be happy to re-adopt him when he was through the surgery.  We were also willing to foster him through pre-op, take him to the operation and care for him during post-operation recovery.  We love this dog and wished we were able to offer him the medical care he needs. The very next day (6/14) our puppy was back on the site for adoption.  And WITHOUT ANY DISCLOSURE OF HIS MEDICAL NEED.Cooper is incontinent due to the ectopic ureter.   He drips pee on everything he lays on and on himself. This is a medical issue.  This is not an issue that hes going to grow out of or that he can be trained out of.Any adopting family would be unwittingly financially burdened with Coopers tremendous medical need that was never disclosed to them.  Or Cooper will be relegated to the life of an outside dog due to no fault of his own.  We all know that outdoor only dogs are almost never cared for and not truly part of any family.  Cooper and any adopting family deserves better than this.   AHS as a non-profit no kill shelter should provide the medical intervention Cooper needs to live a quality life as part of a family or at the very least disclose his medical issue to any family looking to adopt him.  Its not fair to both Cooper nor the families looking to adopt him.    Its also not fair to us that we dont have our puppy after adopting him and paying the $350 adoption fee.Our kids are constantly saying how much they miss Cooper and wish we could keep him.   We are heartbroken, feel ripped off and very disappointed at the AHSs DISHONESTY and LACK OF TRANSPARENCY.   They promised to be in contact with us on Sunday and I followed up with a phone call first thing on Tuesday but we never heard from them.

Within an hour Dr. Johnson emailed and although she couldnt see Dixie until the following day, could I bring her in! I did just that and the loving care my pup and I experienced was almost unbelievable. Such caring. Dr. Johnson took time to go over labs etc and even promised to call the GI vet that had treated Dixie. So as you can tell, I had missed the great care and concern the Atlanta Humane Society offers as a rule. I have adopted many pets from them. I rescued two small pups from breeders 13 years ago because they were small and sick, but in the future, I will go to the Atlanta Humane Society for help. I wanted to make you all aware that I have to return my cat because she was given to me with a severe upper and lower respiratory infection, that was not listed in her medical records. Her expenses has equaled up to $800 which I cannot afford. Dr. Douglass at VCA Pets are People Too, on Monroe, suggested I ask for financial coverage from the Humane Society given that during her first checkup she had major health issues. So I called, and despite the circumstances in which she was sold to me, I was denied. I’ve invested so much into her, and for her to be sold in such condition is neglect. I’ve attached a video so that you may see the severity of her symptoms (that has been present the day I brought her home just 2 months ago) and actually take care of her this time. I will be returning her this week. Hope you all decide to nurture her to health this time around before she’s sold, so that the next owner doesn’t have the same unfortunate experience.
