I recently purchased my first new car ever from Johnnie Plageman. I had the best experience here. The entire staff was exceptional and very friendly, especially Johnnie. He was super helpful and patient. I had no idea what I wanted to buy, but he let ME choose. Nate the store manager was helpful as was Kari from the customer service team who programmed my entire car before I left the dealership. If youre looking for a NO PRESSURE SALE this is where you need to go.They followed up to see if I needed help with anything or had questions. I definitely made the right choice !

Took my vehicle to a Honda dealer an hour away and was told I needed a $4,000 rear differential on my 2016 Pilot. Glad that I drove an hour to get a second opinion from Hugh White. All I needed was a transmission flush and new fluids. $300 versus $4,000. Well worth the trip and I didn’t leave feeling like I had been taken for a ride. Thanks also to service advisor, Stephanie, for following up with me to make sure my experience was worthwhile.

They are honest, reliable and understand the meaning of customer service. During the peak of the pandemic, they picked up and dropped off my vehicle. In the one case in 16 years where there was a mechanical issue in their end, they rectified it immediately. Tim Caldwell is the best in this business.

I wanted to get a brand new car from this dealership. After preparing all documents and having a test drive, I applied for financing the car. I received a hard inquiry. After that, again, they asked for more documents. I had the requirements; a higher credit score they need, a decent job, and a good income. But, every time they asked for one more document. They finally asked for a co-signer and I also provide someone that lives in another state and had a great credit score, green card and secured job. But, they asked again for more! Their sales manager never was responsive. I emailed him and contacted more than 5-10 times. Terrible behavior! Shortage of cars and having many customers are not a justifiable reason for such a behavior.

I appreciate the reminder messages when it’s time to bring my car in for service. Tim C at Hugh White Honda is always very helpful with scheduling. He keeps me informed of costs and even found a coupon offer for me at my last visit.

Dealing with Hugh White Honda turned out to be one of my worst experiences of 2020, and as yall know, thats really saying something.I purchased my Fit back in 2015 when Hugh White was still Taylor Honda and I ran into some electrical issues so I had my car towed to Hugh White and while I was there I entertained the thought of trading in my car. After telling me the trade in value I told them I was going to hold off until I found out what was wrong with my car.A couple hours later I got a call from the repair department and they tell me point blank your car is totaled. They then told me that I had gotten in an accident and there was catastrophic damage to the undercarriage of my car. I told them repeatedly that I a) did not get into an accident b) the damage they were referring to was from when I got stuck in the mud two years earlier and the plastic shielding of my car got ripped off.They responded by telling me I needed to get my story straight and I exasperatedly called my insurance company to tell them what was going on. At this point, my insurance requested that Hugh White assist with a virtual assessment since we were in the thick of COVID and could not send a claims adjuster in person. Hugh White refused to this. My insurance had to tow my car to Columbus.Eventually, once someone had an actual look at my car, the issue turned out to be loose wiring. This whole mess took two months. I went without a car for two months because Hugh White wanted to trick me into trading in my car. Also, after this all shook out I called the customer service desk three times, each time they told someone call me back to talk about this, no one ever did. In conclusion, I do NOT recommend Hugh White Auto of Athens. Avoid at all costs.

I had my oil changed and tires rotated. Service dept was really nice and service was quick. Cashier was sweet..

Scheduling department sucks! If you want to go to the Athens location, call, dont schedule online. Didnt ask for tire rotation - they did it anyway (just bought new tires last week, did not need rotated!!). They did adjust bill though. Oil change price went up - no need to drive that far for an oil change to save maybe $5.00 - will get oil changed elsewhere in the future. However, there was a gentleman that assisted that was very nice and understanding of the scheduling frustration and the mistake of rotating tires (he is the only reason I gave 3 stars)!

I would give 0 stars if possible. My initial contact was to inquire about a 2018 ford escape.. which I was told just sold earlier today so I asked about a jeep grand cherokee, same thing. Just sold it, but we have a 2017 ford edge.. I stated I didnt want an edge.. Kari and Jaylyn harassed me. Not just contacted, but harassed me for days. When can we put you down for coming in? How about we get you pre-qualified? Im confident we can get you financed for whatever you want etc etc, so I finally said ok and told them that I would complete the finance application online. Then after not hearing anything for a day or so, I call and they ask me to come in the following day. It is cold, raining and miserable out, but I go, I am left standing on the lot looking at vehicles for approx 30 minutes. Then I mention Jaylyn and Kari to a salesman, who comes out and says that jaylyn said it was ok to work with me. So, we are sitting inside, getting ready to go.test drive.something and I get an email that says my application was declined for a 2015 equinox, then one for a 2017 Ford edge, then another one for a 2015 Chevy equinox and 2 for 2021 Honda cr-v. All of these were through the SAME FINANCE COMPANY. So, now my credit score is lowered and Im screwed. I get up and walk out. Rude, rude, rude and disrespectful. But from Hugh White in Lancaster, but NOT ATHENS.

Had service done on my CRV. Always have had really good customer service, even when it was Taylor Honda. Only thing they didnt do that used to happen was no vacuuming of car and didnt run it thru the car wash.

Called yesterday evening to see if the car I was interested in was still available, they said yes and scheduled me an appointment for today at 5 to come test drive it and hopefully purchase it. I live 2 hours away and was willing to make the drive. An hour and a half into my drive they called and told me they sold it to someone who looked at it yesterday. I’m livid. They did not mention that someone was interested yesterday and lead me to believe I’d be set to come look at it. Then to wait to call me until right before my scheduled appointment. SO unprofessional and inconsiderate. If they would have let me know earlier I would have still came to the lot and considered other cars. Not a chance now. I’ll take my money elsewhere.

I bought honda CR-V 2020 last month, Sales person was Tyler Stiles. Before buying the car, me and him agreed to give all weather mat for free after I buy new car. After I bought the car he said he would place an order for the mat as they dont have in stock and get it delivered to my address. After done with car purchase, he stopped picking up my phone calls, even though I call through hugh white hondas general number, he wont pick up my call.This is not the thing that I cant spend 100 or 150 bucks more but if you say then you should be honest with your customer.However I had problem with sales person only, Finance team was well.

My Honda broke down and the tow truck suggested I have my car taken here. When I called, the service manager told me they were booked for the next three weeks, but would do everything he could to get me back on the road. He was able to have the car diagnosed within two days, then had the parts installed three days after they came in. All in all, I had my car back in eight business days, three of which were waiting for the parts to come in. Im grateful they were able to help me despite their busy schedule.

At first I was extremely happy, even after being there 5 hours to get a car that hadnt been detailed and no tank fill up as was said Id get. Bought the car April 28 or 29..and already my headlights and interior lights are starting to flicker,, and thesthe has been going off then coming back on. I called today to find out what can be done, which I seriously doubt it...and got disconnected with no call back. I shouldve went to John Sang in Gallipolis where I would have gotten free gas, a clean car, and at least somewhat of a warranty!

Disappointing change.My review decreased from 5 to 1.The salesman was great. The finance department is the issue. Over a month ago they were supposed to make payment to Honda Financials Services, but failed to follow through. They did post the payment, then reversed it claiming it was HWH-Columbus that needed to make the payment. Columbus denied this. Now Athens won’t return emails or phone calls.Don’t even risk it with such a big purchase.Previous review: Jeff Roe. That’s who you should 100% ask for when looking for a new car. He works on the Nissan side, but was very knowledgeable with my Honda purchase. Trust me from my experience, he is absolutely who you want to assist you!It was an awesome experience. Everyone was very helpful with every step of the process.

I like their service department. You pay more, but I trust them.

Worst experiences ever. I should have put this review on here right away to save someone from dealing with this vulgar lying character. What ever this Shookly is supposed to be doing avoid him at all cost if your forced to shop there. I think it’s worth the drive to just head north.
