My sons roommate left the apt. Didnt pay rent. My son was found liable for the roommates rent as well. My son never lived there. His dad passed away prior to moving in and COVID prevented him from attending classes on campus. He paid his rent. Students!! READ THE LEASE! Have student legal services go over it with you!!!

Very deceitful. If youre under 30, be prepared to know how apartments work, document/photograph everything so you dont get screwed over. Lots of places in Athens are like this and they love being greedy--getting every nickel they can from a dumb college student. Be confrontational.

I just wanted to say that my boyfriend and I moved into a Prokos rental not too long ago, and they have been awesome! Anything that’s needed fixed has been fixed within a day of making them aware of it! Dj specifically has been the best! He’s got us signed and into the place within a day, and always makes sure we are good! Highly recommend!

Honestly would rate this place 0 stars if I could. They are the worst renters in Athens, if you are looking for rentals please I beg you to choose anyone but them. They are straight slumlords who do not care about you, all they care about is your money. They will not fix anything you need them to, and will literally just laugh in your face. Terrible people as I said before please choose any other landlords besides them, they will just screw you over in the end.

I’ve had a great experience with Prokos Rentals! Whenever I have a question or request D.J always resolves it immediately. They give me complete privacy. All the staff I’ve met are just super kind people. And all together the inside of my apartment has nice carpet & walls :)

Actually just a slumlord who will leave mold in your house because its cheaper to laugh at you than make sure youre not dying.spends more money on his vanity pet projects than he ever has maintenancing any single property theyve owned.Its embarrassing to refer to these people as landlords theyre more like land idiots.

Absolutely terrible renters from the office down to maintenance. I told my roommates I did not want to go through them in the first place, but they decided to go for it anyway.Horrible response time when it comes to calling in for maintenance requests and everything in the apartment was falling apart. This caused many inconveniences that the office and maintenance workers just did not seem to care about and halfway fixed when they felt like coming in. Many things went without being fixed entirely. Maintenance, while on the premises spent all of their time repairing empty apartments below us in order to hook more people into moving in.We were not given a mailbox key as they had lost it, until we went in demanding they find it. We were also not given a storage key until this time.Office workers did not follow through with things promised. There were many times people tried to come in for a viewing without us receiving an email, phone call, or message prior. They also did not send a lease extension to sign, then proceeded to charge an extra months rent. I called to clarify that we no longer needed the apartment any longer than the lease outlined, Kate promised to fix the problem immediately. The charge was not removed until my roommate called a second time in an even less happy tone a month later.I found myself feeling like I worked at the Prokos office with the amount of time I spent calling and stopping by due to all of the problems

I love my apartment. It feels like home. Prokos doesnt ever bother us, which I really appreciate living in a college town. A lot of bad reviews say their maintenance sucks, but theyve come within hours every time Ive had a real problem. They are fairly priced compared to other rentals in Athens (though still pricy, but again, its a college town).

Absolutely the worst rental company in town when it comes to customer service and especially security. They just opened up their storage facility and i know multiple people who have had their stuff stolen from their facility. It’s truly saddening because they won’t reimburse them for anything.

These folks are very kind, honest people that really helped my family when we needed it most on our vacation. This isnt a typical car rental facility, however, they did have two vehicles available and were able to rent us a vehicle while our car was getting repaired. The rental and return process was quick and very easy. 100% would return to Prokos Rentals. Thank you folks!

The apartment was clean as soon as we first moved in. The rent was affordable, and the staff was fast to respond and friendly. I paid my rent on time and was even given a discount for doing so which I personally think is fantastic. I was recommended by a friend to rent from Prokos and was not disappointed.

So, I was manipulated by the office in a really shameful way. I did not receive my deposit back for more than 30 days and no notification whatsoever. and when I called to ask for it they told me it was already sent, but I did not received it. I went to their office and they said they probably sent it to the wrong address and told me they will recall it to their office saying that since it is a check someone will have to sign it. They showed me a paper where I signed my previous address in their establishment which was in May 2017; I told them I never submitted that this year since I changed my 2017 number, so there was no way I was going to mistakenly submit a wrong address. They agreed, and I wrote a new address (I noticed an awkwardness from Chelsea and a lot of cross-offs on the supposed paper I submitted my address, but again I have been doing business with them for 2 years and of course I thought they just mistaken the address).Two days later I called them about it and they said I can pick it up at their office. I went there today and they first made me sign a form saying that I picked up my deposit, and then handed me a paper. I then asked how do I cash it? to which they told me they charged us full amount for not cleaning our apartment before leaving (500$). I and my roommate spent two days cleaning the apartment, but we were gullible and did not take pictures. I lived there for two years and the staff I met were nice and professional and never played shady with us. The new staff Chelsea, have decided to play tricks on the customers. I will make sure no students I can reach out to or know rent a housing there as long as this issue of unprofessional-ism remains. They manipulated me from the beginning. I feel deceived and cheated on in the most lowest manner. I certainly do not want anyone to go through this.To future tenants : Think twice.To current tenants : If you are there already be careful and document everything and take pictures, if they keep adding fees for late payments which they did to us all year even though we paid on time, solve the issue now. If possible, take a recorder with you for every interactions you will have with them.

Wow! What an incredible rental facility! Rachel did everything she could to make our experience both comfortable and relaxing. I would highly recommend this business to anyone in the area renting anything, especially a car! Completely turned around a really stressful situation we were having and gave us a great day!

After having issues with other companies within Athens, I found Prokos after wanting to move out of my dorm that I was in for about 2 years. I was recommended by a friend who also had a good experience renting from them in the past. The only issue I had was a leak that happened with one of our pipes, and I needed a hot water tank replaced. Prokos acted very fast, along with the maintenance crew who kept my place as clean as possible, as well as being very polite within the apartment I was staying in. I had absolutely no problems with Prokos, and the online payment system they have set up for the tenants that rent from them is very nice and convenient. I have moved back to New York, and I really enjoyed the town of Athens, and Prokos helped make the experience of Athens even better. I have a friend going to Ohio University, after exchanging from a university here in New York, and I have already recommended Prokos to her.

My experience with Prokos has been nothing but awful. When I moved in to my apartment at Westview the apartment was disgusting. The carpets were dirty, there were dead bugs everywhere, the counter tops were covered in grime, the bathtub was covered in a black film, it took deep cleaning on the part of me and my roommate. When we had our move in inspection (after we had cleaned everything) we showed the woman working the photos we had taken and she apologized and assured us that when we moved out it would be factored into our deposit refund. Fast forward to when we moved out and they are now asking for more money than both our deposits combined claiming the apartment was extremely dirty (it was not pristine, but nowhere near the level of filth we first encountered when we moved in). Our initial move in conditions were not factored in as promised. I strongly suggest you never take a chance with Prokos. I had heard horror stories, but I figured the relatively cheap rent (for Athens) was worth the risk. I could not have been more wrong. The apartment complex was sketchy at best and the experience with rude or just plain unhelpful staff constantly giving the run around was too much to handle.

Terrible first impressions of this place. Walked into their office, after booking an appointment to see some of the units for the 2020-2021 season, and saw an awkward desk in the middle of the room, mopeds for sale, a giant oversized bobcat, and church pews. The woman at the desk paid no attention to us and simply waited for someone in the far back offices to notice us oddly pacing inside the front of the building. Finally, after a kind man noticed us, he explained that we could not be shown the apartments because the woman we contacted had not notified the tenants. After being scolded about this incident (not from the man but from the woman who took our call) we were offered to either come in a few hours or on a different day. A couple red flags as tenants must be notified 24 HOURS in advance. So we walked out. Would not recommend this place. Booked a place through Fosters Rentals though and am not regretting it in the slightest!

I recently moved to Athens from Columbus. I was looking for a 2 bedroom apartment. I went to see a few properties by various rental companies here, however I ended up preferring the one from Prokos. I am new in town like I have previously stated. I couldnt find the property at first. I ended up rescheduling a couple of times and was worrying that Prokos would be fed up with me, however they were very nice the whole time. I ended up just going to the office and I followed them to the property location. I then had a meeting at the O.U campus that I forgot about but knew that I would have a hard time finding parking with only 10 minutes to spare. One of the Prokos crew members literally let me keep my car at their while he drove me to the O.U campus about an hour later they even picked me back up and drove me back to my car. I thought that was way out of his way to do it, but that was a very kind act.The place I rent is pretty nice, and clean, but I mainly left the review after seeing that they actually care about the experience of customers.In Columbus I never saw this act of kindness. Anyways for all this they get 5 stars!!

I rented from Prokos during the 2011-2012 school year. After reading these reviews, its is painfully obvious to me that all of the positive reviews were posted by Prokos affiliates. Notice how 10 out of 10 or 13 out of 13 found the positive reviews helpful. I am not surprised, as I found the office staff to be rude and dishonest. When you move out, they will do everything they can to keep your deposit. We moved into a house with a mushroom growing out of the bathroom floor, so needless to say we left the property in better condition than we found it. My own 60 year-old father spent an entire day clearing off the sidewalks that were completely grown over. They kept most of our deposit, claiming that we left the house uncleaned. When they paid the rest of the deposit they put all three tenants names on the check in order to make it difficult to cash. The people are thieves, headed by a man so sleezy that he actually sued his own sister and ran her out of the Athens slumlord business. The only saving grace for this company is the maintenance staff - they are excellent. At the end of the day, Athens would be a much better place if these slumlords just packed up and left.

LACK OF SECURITY AND NOT SAFE.I rented a storage unit from Prokos rentals for four months because I had to leave the country and came back after three months and found the door of my storage broken and all my furniture and stuff are gone. I filled a police report, and they told me they dont have surveillance cameras and went to the place and talked to the managers that I needed the money for the service that I didnt get and reimbursement for my stuff to be able to buy new stuff.They told me they would give me back the rent money which is nothing comparing to my stuff value, and told me they are not responsible for theft which doesnt make any sense as I rented a storage unit which the only function for it is to keep your stuff from being robbed.I will never rent or deal with this company anymore as their lack of professionally, security and not safe.

I rented from Prokos not too long ago and they were very nice.When I was in the process of looking for a place, Kate helped me every step of the way. Every apartment we went in was clean, and move in ready. I never had any problems with them, and when I did need something fixed when I moved in, they were very prompt to fix it.( just changing the locks ) They kept me updated, and they were very helpful when I had questions. I would go into the office sometimes and Kate and Terry were always nice, and the same goes for when I would call the office too. I would definitely rent and recommend them again.

When it comes to renting in Athens, I have dealt with a few different realtors over my college career. From my experience, Prokos has been great in pretty much every aspect of dealing with them. Every maintenance call I make is responded to quickly and thoroughly, I have never been hassled about payments or anything, and everyone I have dealt with (for various reasons such as people parked in my spot, or maintenance, etc.) has been very pleasant. I definitely cannot say the same for other rental companies I have dealt with at my time at Ohio University, who were rude and treat students like banks, even though they are paid by students. I will not name names, but theres only a few landlords that cover most of the college housing, and Prokos is by far the best one I have rented with!

I have been renting from them for about 3-4 months. if you have any issues or something needs fixed they are pretty good about getting out to see whats wrong and fixed within a few days. i never had issues with them but i pay my rent on time every month. i do have to say i seem to only deal with Rachel Shaw a lot, nice lady, i really like her a lot. i havent dealt with to many of the other people that works in the office.

Meh. Prokos is shady. They tell you a price and then charge more because of x,y,z. The maintenance guys are nice but the office people seem to either not care about their tenants or just forget things constantly.Update- going from 2 stars to 1. The office manager or whoever Kate is is an extremely hostile person to talk to. I called, not expecting anything, but hoping that my rent may me reduced due to the fact that I had no access to one of my rooms for a month and a half because of an overpowering cat urine smell and because my sublease had been let off from work because of COVID. Of course as soon as I opened my mouth about a reduced rent, Kate started interrupting me and raising her voice. She did her best to avoid my questions and accused me of not being in contact when they didnt call me once. I stayed civil and she ended up telling me to call her back after the weekend because shes going home after I had waited on her callback for 3 hours. This conversation left me feeling stressed and angry when there was no reason to be as I didnt even expect to get anything from them. Basically if you are good with losing your security deposit, being accused of random things so they dont have to talk to you, and having to wait for a month and a half before getting to use half of the apartment you are paying for with no recompensation, then talk to Kate at Promos Rentals. Shell fix you right up.

Seriously, the only people giving this organization 5 star reviews are fake accounts. When I moved into my apt with my roommates none of the cleaning was finished, the floor linoleum was ripped apart, and there was fly tape everywhere. It was hideous. Was kind of hoping that when I saw that their old office shut down that they had gone out of business, but I guess they just moved. Seriously, this company prays on college kids with parents willing to pay the rent, and they charge obscene amounts for horrible places. I can only hope that potential renters see this review before they sign a lease with this company. The APT was spotless when we left and we still got none of our security deposit back. Guys, this company is the worst.PS: All of the 5 star reviews are two sentences, why is it that people with complaints post long paragraphs and the great reviews are less than 100 words?? They are either using fake accounts or buying reviews, Prokos are filth and I wish OU would do something about them renting to students.

In all honesty, Prokos is not as terrible as people are claiming. I have rented in Athens for 4+ years and they were far from the worst landlord Ive had to deal with and the property I rented from them was in better condition than most others Ive seen my friends living in. I rented a one bedroom apartment in a house that was divided up into several apartments. The apartment was in the same condition when I moved in as it had been when I toured a few months prior. Yes the house was old, the fixtures were old, there was a little bit of wear and tear on the carpet but it wasnt anything that wasnt livable. I have seen houses in Athens that are absolutely disgusting and I dont know why people rent them when they see the conditions before they sign a lease, but they do, so they shouldnt be complaining. No rental place in Athens ever cleans their properties before you move in as they claim they do. I had very few problems with the apartment during my lease this past year and I was even allowed to have pets in the apartment for an extra fee each month which I thought was reasonable. There were a few times when they showed up without 24 hour notice to do a showing, which isnt supposed to happen. At the end of the lease I received my entire deposit back, but I also had the apartment professionally cleaned before I moved out in order to avoid the ridiculously overpriced cleaning fees that all landlords in Athens charge you even if you leave the property in the same condition or better. I never had any problems with Terry or Kate, I always talked to them when I came in to pay my rent each month and they were nice to me. If youre a good tenant and do your research before you sign a lease, you shouldnt have any problems with Prokos.

Can you give 0 stars? How does Demetrios have a 3 star rating?Take pictures with any landlord. Make copies if you rent from this guy. Like most Athens landlords he does not obey tenant landlord laws. He bought the property that I lived at in college and then bait and switched us telling the residents that he was planning to fix the property up. He sent his cronies in to asses the property but really they were taking pictures and snooping through our rooms trying to build an eviction case. The judge laughed him out of the courtroom.Never got a single ounce of truth from this nut. Dont trust him past his height. He sued his brother. What more can I say?

I cannot begin to explain how AMAZING Rachel and Prokos are. Our car broke down about 20 minutes out of Athens and Rachel helped us so much to rent one of the cars. She was so nice and patient (even that we came 20 minutes before they were closing) and made our stressful day so much more relaxed.

I dont see how some people can write bad reviews about Prokos. They have been nothing but nice and considerate for me, my roommates, and everyone else I know that has stayed at the apartment complex that we live in. Every time I go into their building to pay rent, they are always super nice to me and ask if there are any problems with my room and if there were any problems (bugs, noise, appliances not working, etc.) they have always addresses them very quickly within few days and sometimes even on the same day. By the way, Ive been staying in this apartment for over a year and Ive never been disappointed or disrespected by any of the employees of Prokos. Its also worth noting that they have the best quality-to-price ratio when it comes to their apartments in the Athens area. I would know because I spent days researching what the best deals were. Out of all the rental agencies, Prokos is the best.

Wow this Rental place works for me!! The maintenance people came and fixed my plumbing issue fast and the people at the office were helpful. I was disappointed at first with the plumbing issue but, they were quick and got the water to go down the drain. No more swimming while taking a shower. Good people, great Rental place.

Can i leave a zero star review? Ill sure as hell try. Prokos is THE worst landlord in Athens. You will have a hellish year of your life renting from these scumbags. Absolutely nothing promised to you will be provided, your security deposit will be lost, your home will be in violation of numerous health and safety regulations and little to no work will be done to rectify any such malfunctions of the dwelling for the entirety of your lease. You wont get your money back and you will exist in a state of constant stress and dismay. No matter how much you think its the best choice or that you wont find something else, I promise you will find something better, there is always something better than prokos.

I have been searching and searching through endless places to rent for next school year and Prokos Rentals has a lot to choose from. I really like a few places that they have and they seem to care about you when you are calling them. I havent made any decisions yet but, I still have some time yet. I think when I am ready I may be choosing them.

It looks like Prokos is making or buying fake 5 star reviews. Many of the users have only reviewed Prokos (sometimes both in Nelsonville and Athens) with no explanation, just 5 stars. They were previously much lower rated before a bunch of people decided to all rate them on the same day, how oddly convenient.The reviews with actual words and substance are overwhelmingly negative. I also had a horrible experience with Prokos during my two years with them. Bad maintenance, rude staff, and huge price gouging for substandard apartments. Avoid.

Terrible! Never EVER rent off of them! Terri and Kate were so sweet and nice when we were looking at renting our apartment but once we signed the lease that all changed quick! They are very rude and unprofessional, they do not care about you at all, all they care about is their money! Our apartment was disgusting when we first moved in, everything was dirty and the fridge didnt work, it took them over a week to get us a new fridge. When we received our new fridge we couldnt put food in it for a couple days because we had to clean it with bleach twice because it was so disgusting! Also our dishwasher leaks out huge puddles of water when you use it, its been like that since we moved in 6 months ago. Our cabinets were covered in mold, and some of the boards in them were rotting. They replaced the rotting boards but still did nothing about the mold, we finally had to clean it ourselves but still couldnt get it all. Weve had a door handle fall off the same closet twice, one fall off of another closet, and my roommates door handle is about to fall off of her door. The washers and dryers and the room they are in are all nasty and dont even work half the time (needless to say I do not use them). Theres big potholes in the parking lot, and our neighbors are rude and dirty. Do yourself a favor and do not rent off of them. They are so rude, inconsiderate, and mean! I hate renting off of them and I cant wait to move out of this place!

I havent even rented from them yet and im glad i didnt. i made an appointment to have a tour of one of their apartments, when my roommate and i showed up at said appt. there was no one there to show us around. we waited for 15 minutes before i called their office, they said that they had no record of an appointment being scheduled and had no idea who i had talked to, the girl on the phone said that she could meet us at the apartment in 10 minutes, we waited, she called again and said we would have to reschedule because nobody had notified the current tenants. so we rescheduled for three days later .Fast forward to the next appointment; my roommate and i waited for 25 minutes for someone to show up!!! there were no cars, nobody waiting around, we were honestly just really angry by now, i called the office yet again and this time i got the answering machine, (granted it was only 5:25 in the evening and their office supposedly closes at 7pm) . needless to say, we will not be rescheduling for a THIRD time to tour this apartment nor will we be renting from Prokos in general.All in all, the experience was incredibly unprofessional and their management should really figure out how to be more organized and communicate with their coworkers and potential renters if they want it to be a positive experience.

Prokos Rentals is the only rental company I have dealt with in Athens that has treated me like a human. They have gone out of their way to help me in situations which other rental companies would have just charged their generic fees and sent me the bill. They fix issues within a day or two. Their employees are very personal and generous, couldnt recommend a different rental company to anyone right now in Athens!

Make sure you take pictures of the place when you move in and again when you move out. No matter how perfect you leave the place in the end, they will find a way to rip you off when you get your deposit back. They take advantage of students and in my opinion they run a pretty crooked business.

One of the worst landlords in Athens. House is pretty much broken, wasn’t even cleaned before we moved in. Asked them to clean up all extra trash w/ specific locations as to where it is and was never cleaned up. We had to make our own house keys because the day we moved in (which was known for months beforehand) their key guy wasn’t in and they only had one copy. They may claim they’re trying to change their face but it just isn’t going to happen when their employees are rude to you when you go to their office. Avoid at all costs, look the prokos name up in Athens public records if you need more of a reason to not sign with them.Also were charged $85 to replace a fire extinguisher, took weeks for them to come fix a shower drain in a 6 bedroom house after multiple messages. The pipes froze because the only thing protecting them from the cold was siding, pipes were also leaking outside. They will never respond to every question you ask them, act like it was never asked. They’ll nickel and dime you for every single thing possible.Also most of their yellow page reviews are fake, accounts have only one review on them.

I was a tenant of Prokos for last 2 years. The company recruited few new staffs after the first year. The quality of service, professionalism and attitude of the staffs towards the tenants drastically fell immediately after that. Below are some of many incidents of hassles and harassments we had to go through even after being decent tenants:- Poor customer service: The staffs respond and claim many statements without even verifying the case properly. When my previous roommates lease ended, they did not automatically send back his security deposit. When he checked after 2 months, he was misinformed about the status of the refund several times. After physically visiting their office four times and making countless phone calls, they finally refunded it after three months (Worth mentioning that, my roommate was lucky that he was American. Their attitude and manner towards international students have been much worse). They also shown poor management of and delayed response towards maintenance requests.- False claims and Fraudulence: When the lease of the tenants end, they ask to drop the keys. Even after requesting several times, they did not come for inspecting our house when we were present. Similar to my previous roommates case, they did not return our deposit. When asked, they kept saying it has been sent/it will be sent/it will take some time. Finally, they informed us that the apartment was not clean so they kept the USD500. This is a sheer fraudulence since we (the roommates) cleaned each and every single thing before we left. The company could not even specifically mention what were the things they found dirty. Since we graduated and flew back to our home, we could not go in person to talk and resolve the issue. So, this is the reward we got after respecting and following all the rules and regulations.- Lack of security and cleanliness: The neighborhood is not safe. There were several incidents of bicycle thievery (including my wifes one). The company did not take any initiative to take care of the issue. The neighbors rarely clean their dogs poop on the sidewalk. The staffs neither warn them nor clean the waste.In sum, cheap apartments come with these hidden costs. DO NOT get convinced with their comparatively cheaper rate. Keep proper documentation of all the communication and be very very patient. Because they do not understand customer service, so you would have to repeatedly knock them on simple issues! Consider the simple suggestion, DO NOT Deal with them and you would have one less thing to worry about in life.

They say theyre working on it or they need to talk to the other and nothing gets done!They will overcharge you when you move out for things that were broken prior to moving in. Prokos will not fix anything in a timely or proper manner. Lies and misleading conversations were also a common problem Because of this, make sure you have everything documented (emails, papers).I highly recommend not renting from Prokos for the simple reason that they have so much of my money. Unfortunately, there arent many good landlords in Athens to choose from. I would try and stick to small operations that are sincere people, not the large monopolies in the Athens housing market.

Very very unhappy with this company. Changed and tampered my lease illegally days before move-in date over the summer while away on military duty. Very unprofessional staff. I could write a book on what this company has put me through and feel sympathy for all of the others that have been put through situations like this. Bad reputation they have and there is a reason for it.

Prokos is terrible. They made a system change in the middle of our lease and told us that we had to pay several thousand dollars. Meanwhile, for the last 4 or 5 months, we were paying the early amount and they verbally told us that we were good for that month. We ended up having to pay $650 for the last four months with $2100 upfront on top of that. They told us that SEVERAL OTHER HOUSES were in the same predicament. Prokos is full of liars who prey on college students. Aside from a few damages we caused, they charged us cleaning fees for damages that were prior to our house that we called about several times. Moral of the story is Prokos will do their best to take all your money and more, after they told you everything was caught up and you were in good standing.

The house was old, run-down, fire hazard. I felt like I was dealing with slum-lords. People signed the lease, but left without subleasing. Too bad!Rent keeps going up and up. Only giving 1 star because 0 isnt an option. These people are god awful. I rented from them, and had the worst experience I have EVER had with a rental company. For one, the spare keys they gave me didnt work in any of the doors and I told them about this on many occasions. I had to leave the doors unlocked with all my valuables in there when I went to class for hours at a time. The best part? They charged me for supposedly breaking the lock because their keys wouldnt work when I moved out. On top of all that, my room mates and I spent 3 days cleaning the house we rented from top to bottom and they STILL charged us almost 500 dollars in cleaning fees. I worked as a house keeper and I didnt even make that much money cleaning 15+ hotel rooms a day for an entire week. Biggest load of B.S. I ever heard. And on top of all that, they wouldnt even let me know when they were showing the house to future renters. They would show up unannounced and expect me to let them in when in their lease it clearly states they need to give me 24 hours notice. Eventually I just started dead bolting the door so they couldnt get in and eventually they got the hint. LONG STORY SHORT. Prokos is awful. Avoid them like the plague.

I have lived with Prokos Rentals for almost 5 years. At times things have been confusing between property manager and tenant. But with everyones life there comes a time when bad stuff happens. Overall, I have had a great experience with Prokos. Any administration of this company has always been understanding of my needs. The key was communication. And as long as I communicated my needs or problems, Prokos has always been able to accommodate. Over the past two years, I have especially worked with Rachel Shaw. She has been the most amazing experience of this company. The most professional manager at Prokos Rentals. Any time I had a problem and I wasnt being heard, I would call her and she immediately made things happen. And on days I was stressed financially or other things were building up I was able to call her and vent. She wouldnt dismiss my problems. She would listen and she actually cared. This woman deserves an award! When I told her I was ready to move on to a bigger housing for my transition to O.U. she worked dillegently with me. Willing to do whatever she could in her power to help my transition. Unfortunately, we could not find a place with Prokos that met my needs on such short notice. But she helped me to the very end. It is a sad month (April) as it will be my last month with Prokos. I have no regrets with my choice of company in terms of renting. And I would highly recommend anyone to try Prokos Rentals before judging.

These people are in the game to take advantage of college students, and they do. You will not get your deposit back, regardless of the condition of your rental at the end of your lease. You will, however, be spoken to in a condescending tone whenever you have the misfortune of speaking to the staff. Their behavior is shameful. Its unfortunate that these awful people found their way to such a nice town.

My mother lives in nelsonville with prokos rentals. it finally seems they are moving in the right direction. So glad the have someone there that actually cares and brings a new standard to the property. Thank you prokos for taking a stand against all that mess!

Not to bash Prokos Rentals, because they are one of the cheapest places to rent from in the Nelsonville area! However, I rented an apartment from them for 2 years and paid my rent early every single time. 1 year and 9 months into my stay atProkos and I was going to be about 3 days late on part(90$) of my rent (Mind you this would be 3 days from the early payment day, not the actual day rent was due). In my attempt to be a courteous client to my landlady, I let her know of this about a week ahead of time. I was told, right off bat, that if I didnt have the FULL amount by the day of rent being due, then I would be taken to court-charged 40$ for doing this and then 20$ as late payment every day that my rent was late. In the end, I chose a roof over my head and not going to court over food for several days which put a serious strain on my studies at school (I was a student at Hocking College while renting with them). I will say that once the Nelsonville office hired a new landlady, the complex did seem much better, overall. But she arrived just before my lease was up, so I didnt know her for very long, I believe her name was Cathy.My other complaint is in regards to my deposit and the Athens office (the Main office for Prokos). I moved out on August 15th and was told that I would receive 610.00$ of my deposit back, fair enough, I realize that my apartment was not in perfect condition when I left so I understand that some money should be taken out. However, it is now October 7th and I have yet to receive my deposit in the mail. I now live in Cincinnati Ohio (2.5 hour drive from Athens, Ohio) therefore, cannot just go to their office, so I call them AT LEAST once a week to ask about the status of my deposit return and have YET to get a solid answer. I have been told that its lost in the mail, delivered to the wrong address, torn up, never sent out...and just about any other excuse to get me to wait another day. I would NEVER rent with them again even if I had to. Dont withhold my money from me and continue to give me the run-around. I will be taking legal action if they do not resolve this issue within the upcoming days. So, as previously stated, I do not want to bash this apartment complex, but there is a level of responsibility that needs to be taken by any company and they are not stepping up to the plate. Stay away from renting with them if you can help it. And IF you decide to rent with them, get absolutely everything documented and on paper.

I have tried to email over and over again about places they have listed on their website and Craigslist, and no one will respond to me.

All the other college students who post on here dont know the real side of the story they only post when they bust down doors, and break windows and then complain that their deposit is taken, I dunno about you but everyone here is awesome!
