My letter from 2012 to which Schimms never had the courtesy to respond.Not people I could ever recommend.Dear Schimms:We gave this business to your company with the expectation that you show up and do what you say. You did neither and I am not pleased.When you were not present on the first attempt your employees spent an hour discussing whether they could get the truck down the road you had inspected. Your cutter claimed they may get the truck stuck and have to abandon the truck and we should be prepared to look at it for a while. Eventually work began and they took repeated breaks before leaving the job due to bee stings from another job.We communicated that there was a lot of standing around in your absence. You scheduled dates and cancelled twice; once due to hornets nest stings and another time due to employee illness. You understood we were frustrated.When you arrived for the second attempt you apologized, explained what a bad month you had and I sympathized. I have a business, employees and customers. All was forgiven with the expectation that the work just get done. They began working on the trees and again you left the job site.Again work stopped for extended periods after you left. I was told that the truck was stuck this time and would be left there. This was apparently justification for two guys standing around while your cutter admired the view from my lawn. This re-occuring stuck truck story is probably a useful tool to avoid working but the truck was never stuck. After he finished that break he climbed up and sat in my tree doing no work for 10-15 minutes. Try sitting still for 10 minutes. It is damn near impossible unless you simply do not want to work. I could have lived with all of this if the trees were cut as we requested but when I found out your guys left between 2 and 2:30PM without cutting a single tree on the driveway area I became more than frustrated.After I called you about their early departure you told me they worked a full day. I was sympathetic to your employee problems but your guys did not work a full day – not even close. When they were at the job and you were not they took numerous breaks and made up excuses not to work. I expected you might call me back, come see what they did (and did not do), send a note with the invoice if for no other reason than you knew there were problems on this job and there are twenty-nine acres of trees needing work for the next 30 years. You sent a bill.The first time you only had the customer and the electrician to bear witness to this disaster. The second afternoon we had a meeting with two engineers, a general contractor and a builder. We all watched from the house as your cutter sat in a tree daydreaming and your other employees disappeared. These guys are frequently asked for references, even tree trimming.When you have a good customer experience a customer tells about nine people, a bad one they tell 16 and then there is the multiplier effect of whom those 16 tell. You can do the math on this and quickly understand your employees did significant damage to your reputation when they chose this audience.I know you had to pay these employees so I am honor bound to pay you but you need to need to come out and meet with me on the job site to pick up your check. You still need to show up.
