I dont believe you will find a more trustworthy and honest man as Scott, as well as his staff. I consider him a throwback and not as a negative fishing term....hes an echo of a time when a persons word meant something. I live three hours from Astoria, but Id take my car to him again. He backs up his word with clear explanation, hard data, and an honest evaluation. Top notch customer service from a top notch man.

Scott, where to begin on this guy. He is the owner of this establishment and when I first spoke to him on the phone I knew right off the bat that I found my mechanic to work on my car! This man is straight to the point as it gets. He tells you exactly what is going on with the vehicle and what is needed to fix it. He was busy with 3 other transmission jobs when I brought my car in to have my transmission replaced and he still got it done within the week! One of the things I love most is his uncompromising standards when it comes to getting the job done right the first time. If the man tells you that you need another part to be replaced while he has everything torn down. Buy the part and get it replaced, even if its not related to the issue youre having. Its much less expensive in the long run to get that wear and tear part replaced while youre in there already. Tim the mechanic is a great guy as well. He was a joy to talk to and is very personable. He did a wonderful job replacing my transmission and all of my problems are solved. I would completely trust these gentlemen with any vehicle I own. Scott just called me after having the car back for the weekend and asked if everything was working well and inquired if I wanted the old transmission. You cant get better customer service than that!

I brought my sons Mustang initially for just transmission service, but realized very quickly that the owner and head mechanic, Scott, was someone I could trust and who would do great work. We ended up fixing everything that needed repair on the car for an amazing price, expert workmanship, and delivered when promised. When you talk to Scott, he inspires confidence and trust. I wouldnt take my cars anywhere else.

We got stuck in Astoria last week on our vacation because there was a part of our car that stopped working that we needed to get fixed before our 12 hour drive home. We looked at several car shops before choosing AAMCO. My wife and I are both thoroughly impressed by not only the speed and quality service that we were given in a timely manner, but also with how likable the mechanic was. I am so glad that we chose to go here for our repair. If you ever need a repair, AAMCO is the place to go.

They worked with me to get the car fixed quickly, and were totally cool with using parts I had already purchased when I was determined to do the job myself. These guys arent your average repair shop. My Alternator went out on my Lexus LS400 30 minutes from Astoria. I towed it to AAMCO as I knew they were a chain and I could take it to a more local (to my house) AAMCO should the solution not work. They guy at the desk, Xander, stayed late to meet me and check my car in which was much appreciated. He quoted me an estimated price and I would need to wait for the technician to be in on Monday, unfortunately, but not uncommon.Pros: friendly service, and so far quality work. Fair prices for labor. Willing to be reasonable when asked for discounts. 12 month warranty.Cons: Estimates are a bit off. Understandable to be off a little, but seem to have large variance on hours of labor required.Service: Is friendly. I am used to unsolicited updates from my mechanic (also a chain) and more accurate estimates but they did match my best experience for friendly and honest service especially when a less reputable mechanic could take advantage of my situation as a vacationer.All-in-all, a positive experience though not the cheapest, but they warranty their work for 12 months. Nothing beats your own mechanic of course, but I would take my car back there again should I need work in Astoria.

If you want to get the run around on pricing, have your parts marked up, yelled at when you go pay your bill, then this shop is the shop for you. Do your research before using this shop. They mark up on parts like they’re a dealership. The hourly rate is high to begin with but to try to nickel and dime your customers on parts that are accessible to everyone is just not good business. If you question anything to do with the price of parts the owner gets defensive and starts getting loud. It’s unacceptable to treat customers like they’re idiots. If you want repeat business, treat your customers with respect and be a honest mechanic.

Were on a long road trip and our RV developed a transmission problem. Scott helped us out right away. His guys quickly fixed the problem but that revealed a serious issue with the speedometer. They worked many hours to diagnose that and it turns out it can only be fixed by a Ford dealer. Scott hooked us up with one and then only charged us for the transmission fix. He didnt charge us for all the other work because he couldnt fix the problem. We could not recommend Scott and his business more highly!

A vehicle I just bought started having transmission issues while I was in Astoria so I pulled in at AAMCO. Drew was very helpful, and gave a bid on the fix. A friend who was with me needed to be at the Portland airport that day so we rented a car and left mine at AAMCO. Drew took a closer look at the vehicle and was very honest with me that in his opinion the cost of all the repairs it needed didnt make sense based on the value of the vehicle. So I am having it towed back and the seller has agreed to refund my money and take the car back. Drew didnt charge me a penny for looking at the car, or for letting me park it there for a week until I could get it back home. I really appreciated Drews honesty and advice and would recommend AAMCO! Thanks, Drew and crew!

Dan has worked several hours past close to fix my POS truck over the last couple of days. I have nothing but positive things to say about him. I saw that a lot of people are complaining about AAMCO on this page, but I think that those people do not understand the challenges that an auto shop faces on the coast: mechanic staff are limited to a few people, parts can be hard to come by, and most people drive older vehicles out here. Dans customer service skills could use some work, but that isnt his fault. Hes a one man show sometimes, and AAMCO should hire a dedicated customer service person! Otherwise this guy is doing several jobs at once which is quite difficult. If you want good service done right, Dan is the man.

I went to AAMCO for diagnostics & to have them look at the transmission in my 03 VW gti when it stopped engaging into reverse. I first took it to another shop where they charged me $35 to tell me it needed a completely new transmission, & it couldnt be rebuilt, but they didnt give me much more info than that. They seemed pushy to me so I wanted a second opinion. I dropped into AAMCO & they got me in for a multi point inspection & their tech got the car to go into reverse!! I couldnt believe it. I then purchased a drain & fill of the ATF & had them replace the solenoid that was bad. This was MUCH cheaper than a completely new transmission would have been in parts alone. As someone who doesnt know much about cars it can be intimidating to take my car to a new shop, especially when it seems there are so many places out there just trying to make a buck. The techs at AAMCO were so efficient & definitely know something the last guys didnt! Dan their service writer was so patient with me & made sure I knew all the details & costs beforehand. I will be returning to AAMCO for all my car needs, even oil changes. Supporting family-owned local business from people who care.

Stay away. Check out our nice little informative coastal Facebook group called GOONIEVILLE. search for AAMCO. negative after negative. Nothing but horror stories. My parents had a bad experience at aamco. They were having transmission issues and aamco said the vehicle was fine. My husbands tranny was going out and they told him the same thing. Turns out my parents went elsewhere and my husbands tranny did go out. So 2 out of 2. I highly recommend TWO CROWS in seaside. They are honest and affordable. They did my timing belt and water pump for 1000 and when I took my car back in for a coolant leak, they spent 3 hours on it free of charge. Do your research people. Dont be swindled.

First off, id give them a 10 if they would let me. I took my Jeep Wrangler in on June 17, 2014. A man named Richard, a mechanic who works there whom i spoke to over the phone told me to bring it in and they would give me a free diagnostic. After they placed my car on the lift, Rich and Richard told me to come into the shop so i could witness first hand my transmission shaking like a can of paint in a mixer. Richard and Rich looked at eachother and claimed, this is a new one. I asked if they knew what the problem was, and they stated no. They said they would have to drop the transmission, and pull it apart to find out the problem. This was going to cost me $1200 for just the labor.. So, less then 24 hours i got a phone call from Richard, he told me my jeep was fixed and ready to pick up, only owing him $258. I replied confused,Why only $258? He told me they found out what the problem was. It wasnt the transmission, it was my universal joints. You could not imagine how wonderful this news was to me. So, when i got to the shop i thanked Richard, Rich, and the other mechanic for their honesty when they could have told me it was the transmission, and i would have believed it. Thank you AAMCO for your honestly and integrity which is so hard to find now a days.

I honestly and whole hardheartedly recommend the Astoria OR Aamco to anyone looking to get their moneys worth with confidence and quality work done correctly by trained master certified technicians, that are kept up to date with the changes. Dan, the Operations / Service Mgr, along with his crew, went above and beyond all expectations for us. Our vehicle had broken down in Puyallup WA. Oct 30, 2016. We had called ahead for the work, made arrangements to have a (heavy duty rebuild) done on our 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 transmission. We were quoted 5 days. Little to say, we were told it was finally done 4 weeks later, picked it up and it broke down again within 2 days. This time I was able to bring it into my hometown Aamco in Astoria, OR. The service, care and concern Dan and his crew took to figure out what the problems were with our transmission, was beyond what any other business would probably have done. They worked tirelessly to figue out and correct the careless mistakes on the other shops behalf, kept us constantly updated and reassured us that they would figure out what the issue was. They kept their word and finally, after 4 1/2 total months, the truck was completed. The transmission runs perfect! Its nice to know there are still people out there that believe in doing things right the first time and would go that extra mile. I have since learned that each Aamco is run independently. You would be wise to call for advice or stop in at the Astoria Shop, you wont be disappointed.

We were camping in Warrenton and the check engine light came on in our 1997 Eurovan. Timber answered the phone and found a way to work us into the repair schedule so they could give us an idea of what we were facing. When we got there, we met and talked to Drew and Ed. Each of these guys was extraordinarily patient and helpful. They answered all of our questions and did quite a bit of research. It ended up that they didnt have the materials needed on hand to make the repairs, so they sent us on our way with a caution to baby the car till we got home to Seattle. They wouldnt take a dime from us. There is a mechanic in back who we didnt meet who really came through in terms of experienced advice; the guy is apparently certified in VWs, Mercedes, BMWs, etc., and knows a lot of the weird ins and outs of these oddball vehicles. Wish we had someone here local who is as good. Cant find enough words to express our gratitude to the folks at AAMCO in Astoria.

Aamco told us they thought they could get us there!...We were on the road again in a week, and after a check-up at 10 days (part of the service) it was determined we needed a bit more work...A new torque converter was installed, no additional charge. Xander wanted us to know they wanted us to be completely satisfied with the work...We were... We are now on the road again, and with a 10-year guarantee! I drive from eastern Oregon to Astoria twice a month. One of my fan belts kept breaking, which is a serious problem if you are in the midde of nowhere. I had it fixed three times, and each time the problem (squeeking and eventual breaking of belt) reoccured. I thought I would need a new truck. The last time the belt broke, I was a few miles outside Astoria. I turned around and drove into the first place I came to, which was AAMCO of Astoria. They took me right away, replacing not one belt but all three. At first, I assumed that this was another rip-off, but the problem was gone! The great staff told me to come back after a few thousand miles for a free adjustment on the belts. I recently did this. The staff (now anchored by Xander Grant) was again most efficient, and I left after a half hour. My truck is running great, and I couldnt be more pleased. Thank you!Bruce Wetter
