John and the staff at Talking Heads totally hooked me up for my wedding. I had long hair and was nervous to cut it a week out of the wedding (laziness on my part). Ultimately, I found that I came to the right place; they were professional and put me at ease with the haircut/trim that I received and I looked sharp on my wedding day (after I came in for a last minute styling that they squeezed me in for!) 5/5 for this crew for helping me out on my day!

I dont think Ive ever reviewed a barber shop before but I had to give Talking Heads the credit they deserve.Ive gotten my hair cut by both Sean and John and both haircuts were some of the best Ive ever had. I have very thick and curly hair so most barbers struggle a bit but they had no problems.Prices are very reasonable (especially for the quality of the hair cut), plenty of free street parking nearby, and the haircut itself was great; absolutely recommend to anyone!

Best barber shop I’ve ever been to. The shop itself is a great and safe environment and the barbers are masters of their craft. I drive over an hour each way just to get my haircuts there and it is well worth it every time, I started taking my son with me and they make him feel very comfortable and always give both of us a fresh look.

My boyfriend has been going to Talking Heads Barber Shop and they always do a great job. They are very good with keeping appointments and wait time is never an issue. All of the barbers are very talented and friendly, you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Stephen has been my go to barber for months. I refuse to let anyone touch my hair after I started going to him months ago. He not only does an exquisite job, he is also one of the friendliest guys you’ll meet. The shop itself is also a calming atmosphere with a welcoming staff. Went here for the first time today, and Im really happy with the result.I moved over an hour away from my barber of 17 years and needed to find a place closer to my new home. Love the quality of haircut these guys give me time after time. Andrew has been my barber for the last 6 years or so; Id consider him much more of a friend than my barber. As for the shop, I dont know another barber shop in town that radiates such peaceful vibes. It was nice to see they are taking all the precautionary measures to ensure their customers safety, and their own. Every person who walks in gets a temperature scan, and a mask is required.They always have eclectic music playing, which is a plus. Parking isnt the easiest, but to be expected for the location - if you are traveling there.Prices are what you would expect, Im sure that location carries alot of overhead, and quality also demands a market price.The shop mascot was a great pup, I was glad to make that edit of the picture.I had given a 3 star, no review or detail statements; and that was definitely a mistake. The owner and staff were friendly my last visit, which was about a year ago... Shave and cut were exactly what I expected.Being contacted, so directly-with a photo of my Google profile in a text (directly) about my review was a little odd, but I can also appreciate at the same time, their pride in their work and extending an effort to have a 3 star review explained. Im cool with that-but I wouldnt recommend texting directly other clients, they may find it creepy. A cut above. I unequivocally recommend Talking Heads. I see John once a week for a beard trim and lineup, with haircuts every 4-5 weeks. He keeps me looking like a gentleman. His eye is impeccable. If he says my beard should be shaped a certain way, or that a certain length for my hair is best, he’s right. The subtle insight is always appreciated. The jokes and our rapport make the time I spend in his chair a pleasure.

Always particular about the small details so you look your best even after 6 weeks! All the barbers are crazy talented and theyre all right here in Asbury!

My hair journey can only be described as a long strange trip. However, that trip has found a permanent home at Talking Heads. I have gone to many salons looking for that right look, but it was not until I met John that it all clicked. To my fellow women--ditch the salons and go to the barbershop (specifically Talking Heads)! You will love the results!

Its very simple. This is the greatest Barber Shop in the Asbury (and possibly the state)! Ive been going to Andrew for 5 years at this point and there is no place I rather get my haircut. Hes cut my hair for the most important events; senior prom, graduation from high school and college, job interviews, and my wedding day. The cuts are obviously fantastic, but they know and care about you.I dont write reviews often, but this is a special place.

I can visit the shop confident that I will walk out with a solid cut from any of the barbers (though John the Hawk Hawksby is the best of the best). My boyfriend got his hair cut by Joe here today, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our entire experience. The atmosphere was friendly and positive, the shop was super clean with fun, trendy decor. And the haircut was perfect, it came out better than I could have imagined. You may think Its just a haircut but it is so much more. A good haircut makes someone feel good about themselves, and can evoke a new sense of confidence - and thats exactly what it did. Having read several glowing 5-star reviews of Talking Heads in Asbury Park I was cautiously optimistic as I headed to my first experience yesterday... Bottom line: These guys are the real deal, they delivered and more, a great cut, a terrific experience overall, and an environment that is as unpretentious and comfortable as any guy could possibly hope for. They actually care about their clients, what a concept! My only regret is that I did not know of them or have an opportunity to give them a try months & months ago! ha Cant recommend John, Joe, and the rest of the crew highly enough, also booking an appt online was a piece of cake and another plus. I moved to New Jersey 2 years ago and John was the first barber I went to. Perfect cut every time I went in. John is a perfectionist and doesn’t let you leave the chair till he makes sure everything is just right. Unfortunately I had to move to the Midwest and miss getting a cut there. I will definitely come in every time I am back in Jersey visiting.

They listen to exactly what you want and execute with passion and precision. The atmosphere of the joint is always awesome. They play the best music and have some of the best conversations. I would never trust my hair with anyone else than inside this shop. They also have the dopest woman usually working at the desk and a kid that comes in and entertains the whole room. One would be lucky to catch a day with him there.Overall this is the spot to get your mop split and to hang out. The prices are amazing and each barber is incredible in there own way. I went in to see Carolyn for a color and I can honestly say it was the best salon experience I have ever had, truly. The products are wonderful. No horrible chemical smells, no burning sensation, none of my hair came out while she brushed it wet! On top of all that the atmosphere is calm and inviting which adds to the overall experience.She gave me the perfect shade to match my skin tone. For so long stylist have just told me my hair pulls brassy so there is nothing they can do. That did not happen with her.And did I mention the scalp massage? That alone was worth the trip!All that said, I want to thank Carolyn and let her know I enjoyed the service, conversation and I appreciative her passion for and knowledge of her profession.

I went for my first time today. I had an appointment with Joe. I am usually very picky on how my hair is cut because my hair sticks straight up and it makes it easy to see where a mistake is made. He was very meticulous and left me with a perfect haircut. I live in Delaware but plan to come back here to get my hair cut from now on. Very happy I stopped in.

I have been jumping from barbershop to barbershop until I found this one. The environment is nice and everyone is very professional. The way my hair grows and I style it makes it for difficult cut, however Sean is always able to achieve what I ask for.

Been here twice and will continue to get my hair cut here. Joe gave me exactly what I was looking for. After my first cut I came in for a second and made a suggestion to him based on how it grew in and he was mad with himself that it didnt grow in perfectly lol shows the level of dedication these guys have. They really are passionate and know what theyre doing. Great vibes too, love the music they play.

This barbershop is very clean and welcoming. If you want amazing service, prices, and a great haircut, then TH is it. I am a very particular client with half of my head shaved. The majority of barbers in the area dont know how to make my shaved side look feminine. John is just the opposite. He took his time making sure every bit was perfect, while keeping the femininity. I went in earlier today and, since I was doing a dramatic change, the asked if I wanted to take a before pic. I should have let them take one! I had shoulder-length hair and now its all gone, and it looks great. Amazing transformation, and it didnt cost much at all! Every time I look in the mirror I cant help but smile I love it so much! Ive been coming to Talking Heads for my haircuts for quite a while now, and they have never failed to impress me with the way they do things there. The atmosphere is pleasant and fun, the music is always good, and cheerful conversation can always be found.While Andrew can be considered their star performer (I followed him from his previous shop because hes the only man in New Jersey whos capable of styling my hair properly), all the staff there has a real talent for cutting hair, and it definetly shows in the quality of the work they do there. Visited Talking Heads for the first time on Saturday and I have to say I was pretty mad at myself for not knowing that this place existed sooner. It is a great atmosphere! Bright walls, tons of natural light coming in, and a very professional and friendly staff.When I popped in, I got a cut from Andrew. I have been getting my haircut by Andrew for over a year now and he recently joined Talking Heads, so I HAD to and I mean HAD to follow him, literally gives me the best fade I have ever had in my life. Andrew has consistently given me a great cut every time I stop in to see him and I am one of those guys who likes to go every two weeks, so I see him often. You can see the pride he takes in his craft anytime you get in his chair. He pays attention to every detail of the cut and shave, making sure every hair is laying just right. I have gone to him for several different styles (side parts, combovers, skin fades, messy textured, etc.) and have been thrilled with the outcome every time. He will listen to what you want in a haircut and can adapt to whatever style you land on, from traditional to modern, you really cant go wrong with him.If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping in!

Straight up the single best barbershop in Asbury Park and possibly NJ! Joes scissor work is ON POINT with perfect clipper fades to boot. Ive been to other shops in the area numerous times and have had a few halfway decent haircuts but I have not had a haircut this good in over 8 years and 3 different cities ago from coast to coast. The atmosphere is super chill, welcoming and friendly. Zero arrogance or tough guy bad attitudes. When youre great youre great and let your work do the talking. 100% excellent barbers with nothing but humbleness and gratitude. So glad I stopped by today. Bless you guys and thanks again!

I am writing this review on behalf of my husband (he doesnt have a google account lol) his names eugene... anyway, he literally just got a cut from Sean, and loveess it. my husband doesnt really get this short of a fade but he says he trusts that the barber knows whatll look good on him, and he was right! i too love the cut. as soon as we walked in, we were greeted, asked if we had an appointment and only had to wait like 10-15 minutes (compared to other places that are like an hour+ of waiting). receptionist was super sweet 😬. we were worried that it might not be the best cut because of how short of a time it took to do it, but its really great quality. 👏 location compared to where i live was great. parking is street/pay for anyone who wanted to know. 10/10 would def recommend! thanks sean!

Have you ever had a Picasso painted or created on your head.......no? You want to know what it feels like? This is the place to be! New to the area and went 2 months without a cut because, well because you just dont cheat on your barber. But these guys know what theyre doing. The best cut Ive received, pretty much ever. Sean took care of me, the conversation was great, hes from my hometown (go figure) and I wish I could live in this area just to keep coming back. The atmosphere is great, every one is extremely friendly, and they do nothing short of art work. If youre thinking about trying this shop, stop thinking and just go!

Good atmosphere and the guys are outwardly friendly, and they do take their time... but the cut was mediocre and the receptionist actually questioned my 18% tip.The price is alright considering, but Ive had better experiences at Supercuts. Go here if you want to feel hip or really like the guys, but its not worth a trip.
