I pretty much showed up with a mullet after growing out my hair for the past 7-8 months; which was not the look I was going for. Brendan R. took care of me with a proper maintenance cut/trim to continue growing free flowing hair. He was very professional and asked all the right questions to understand the style I was going for. He got the job done and I will definitely recommend to friends. Bonus: Very clean shop and was greeted immediately upon entering the shop.

Great and fun atmosphere!! It is a little more than a normal cut. But you get what you pay for here. Check it out.....you will not be disappointed. We dont let just anyone cut our heads....and they lived up to the higher than standard barber prices.

Angela is incredible. I don’t let anyone cut my hair. In 4 years maybe 3 ppl touched my hair. She is one of them. Just as important if not more. Her hospitality is remarkable. One would say anybody can “cut hair”, but can they make you feel at ease in the chair and communicate THEIR understanding of your expectation. With this, she’s also one of the best.

Loved the experience here. Cost is higher but the staff is wonderful and it is truly full service. Susie was delightful and gave me a great haircut!

His cuts are immaculate: hell make sure your hair gets proper texture and volume. I followed him along when he left one barbershop and temporarily worked in various barbershops until he and his partners opened the Bearded Goat Barber.Bearded Goat Barber is a very modern, clean and brightly lit barbershop just one block from Ballston metro station. Theres always complimentary cold brew coffee and bottled water in the shop. Its very clean and spacious. Theyre recruiting some of the best barbers in the area.The entire team is exceptionally hospitable and welcoming. The receptionists are very diligent in following up with you about your next appointment.I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for good barbers/hairstylists.

Love the vibe here at BG. Great location with lots of dining and shopping options close by. My barber, Brook, was one of the coolest and most down-to-earth people Ive ever met. She is WONDERFUL. The only reason I didnt rate it 5 stars was because beard trimming/shaving is not available (but its still listed on the website (Google Assistant) when booking an appointment). Was a bit disappointed that I drove all that way and couldnt get my beard trim. All good -- will still be back just to get a cut from Brook. Shes that good.

Only recommend going to the ballston location. Parking is hard to find at DC location. Not as satisified during this visit for a couple of reasons.

Angela gave me an undercut and chopped off about 8 inches of hair (dry cut) to give me a long bob. She did an awesome job, I love it! Bearded Goat has a really chill, friendly staff and a good vibe (great playlist).

Its crazy to say but Eric has been cutting my hair for over a decade. Weve talked about opening his own shop for a longgg time so Im super glad that he finally made it happen. The shop looks awesome - reminds me of a trendy store. Yes, you can get haircuts for less money at other places but the quality here is outstanding. The shop is conveniently located in brand new Ballston Quarter and the online appointment system is great. Schedule a cut with Eric if you want to look and feel fresh to death.

Friendliest barbershop with the grooviest playlist Ive been to. And yes, the staff are unbelievably skilled! Ive never grown out my hair (always a crew cut) or have I ever cared for a hair style - convenience mattered most. The folks here gave me the confidence to try growing out my hair. I guess what I am saying is they are good at what they do; and more importantly you can trust them to make you look good.

Would not recommend. Scheduled an appointment a week in advance, they sent emails every few days reminding me of the appt to include an hr before the appt. I arrived and was told the stylist they had assigned to me couldn’t make it in to work so appt canceled. They claimed they had tried to contact me but when I showed them the email they had sent an hr earlier confirming the appt they looked confused, agreed that was their email, but still refused to honor my appt. They did tell me if I wanted to wait around an hr or so maybe I’d get lucky and someone who’s appt they planned to honor might cancel.

Susie has cut my hair since 2018 and is simply the best. Friendly, professional + a killer stylist. You won’t be disappointed!

I rarely post reviews, but I really felt doing so for this place.Customer experience and quality of service has consistently been top notch.The haircuts are always excellent; the barbers really take the time to ensure the result is the desirable.The place itself is really nice, in a good location, with lots of natural lighting. The complimentary cold brew coffee and the cool books in the waiting area, are really nice touches.I usually book an appointment with Jon, and more recently with Josue, and they are both absolutely great barbers.Highly recommended!

Josue Algeria is amazing. This is the best barber experience I’ve had in Arlington, it’s worth every cent. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted and a first time experience with a new barber, and he nailed the cut. Very clean, and thorough, and gave me plenty of tips for upkeep and styling moving forward. I’ll definitely be coming back to him every time I need a new cut.

This shop is 5 out of 5 for me. Very professional and clean. Jon is the best in NOVA, and is very personable. I followed him from his previous shop because he is that GOOD. I always leave here feeling and looking my best. Also, it is so easy to make any appointment online. No need to even call.

Hair cuts have been really great and I love the vibe of this place. Its a quirky establishment but I enjoy the sports on TV, the music, and the fact they feed dogs out front. Wonderful! Its a great part of the neighborhood even if that area of Ballston is a bit impersonal in the high-rise canyons of Arlington.The reason for only 4-stars is that Im starting to feel like the needy BF. Do you have a relationship, or perhaps a doctor, where its all about them? Theyll send you multiple confirmations including one 48 hours beforehand but then, repeatedly, break the appointment? Thats sort of what happens too often here.They are happy to send multiple text confirmations, emails... asking you repeatedly to confirm the appointment but then they can break the appointment. Always with 24-hours notice -- so its supposed to be cool -- but seems to happen with regularity. Then you have to reschedule another 2 weeks out.... only to have it happen again Who else are you dating Bearded Goat???I can understand the challenge of keeping butts in seats and running a service business with a needy, no-show public -- but that isnt me. Thats those other guys youve been seeing. Ive been a perfectly reasonable boyfriend!!!! Basically they are protecting themselves, hiding in their secret garden, above and beyond which is frustrating. As a customer I dont want to jump through all of their hoops -- I just want to have someone I can rely on to have get a solid haircut. We just arent quite there yet BG.

Great staff, very open and friendly environment. I go to Angela for the best and consistent hair cuts but I am confidant that the rest of crew will provide great hair cuts as well from what I saw. If you havent had an opportunity to get an actual premium haircut I would give this place a shot.Also: For the people who give this place a low rating for not accepting customers is silly. For one the rating has nothing to do with haircut itself. Second, just make an appointment. If you dont have an appointment and they wont cut your hair just go somewhere else. No need to cry about it just because you werent given special treatment. They expect all their customers to make appointments.

Rizwan Ahmed is awesome! He treats me like a person and not a hair trimmer number like commercial shops. He knows his trade and is extremely skilled. I felt instantly comfortable and confident in my haircut. He is the real deal, and youll be glad you did! Great experience.

Jons been styling mine for three years and he & Eric have created a top-flight experience -- welcoming, relaxed, professional -- that delivers superb results every time. I rely on Jons handcrafted beard oils as well as his restaurant and travel advice. Bonus points for the house soundtrack and amusing inter-barber banter. Live on the edge: ask for the straight-razor shave.

These guys are consistently great. They were able to squeeze me in last-minute on their last day before closing, and I’m very thankful. I usually see Ken and he always does a great job and is really cool to chat with. Easy, laid back environment and clearly a very well-run operation. Can’t wait to go back once things settle down.

I have had a haircut from Eric at Bearded Goat Barber three times, and they are the three best haircuts I have ever had. Eric is an expert barber, and asks plenty of questions to ensure that your hair ends up exactly how you want it. Something that I had not experienced with other barbers was how informative Eric is. He explained a lot about his process and the different things he can do to my hair, and made it easier for me to articulate exactly what it is I want done. The price is very fair, and great value for the cut you get. Additional, BGB is located in the heart of ballston and is accessible by foot and is close to the metro. Finally, the staff is incredibly friendly and all around great. I really cannot recommend this place enough.

Went in yesterday for a beard shave and haircut. The theme of the experience was “flawless” overall. The design, the people, the attention to detail, everything was so well done and thought out. I can’t wait to go back. Such a cool place and easily the best haircut experience I have ever had. Kudos.

I have been going to the Bearded Goat since it opened, and have been with Eric for a little over two years - I started going to him when I was engaged, and wanted to make sure I had a legitimate haircut for the wedding.I cannot recommend the Bearded Goat enough - it is a welcoming barbershop with personable staff and top notch barbers. You are treated with waters, cold brew coffee, and plenty of entertainment while you wait (only if you arrive early - the BG is punctual and respects and maintains its appointments), and of course, and most importantly, always receive a quality haircut.There is no other place that I will get my haircut!

I have never had such a detailed haircut. BGB takes haircutting serious. I got my haircut with Josue and was amazed. By far the best fade Ive ever had.

I really thought for a min about writing this review, as I am the most understanding customer but I think its important to share my experience. I am only giving 2 stars because the place was nice, the cold brew was good, and the haircut was good but I cant say I will go back in the future.As a first time customer and new in the neighborhood, I was excited to check this place out esp after all the great reviews. Called and got an appointment with Ken the next day, prob his first customer of the day. He was very rude, and perhaps not having the best morning/day - which we all have from time to time, but I still cant justify his behavior. I was wearing a hat, and I took it off and place it on the table infront of the barber chair, and he moved it to the table next to it but threw the hat in a very rude way, I also put down my cold brew glass on the same table, and he moved it again and said, CAN YOU NOT PUT IT NEAR MY TOOLS!! I was appalled that he even said that to a brand new customer when he hasnt even introduced himself yet. I really am the easiest customer to please, and I would have easily place all my stuff where I am supposed to if I was told nicely and perhaps I dont know maybe had been greeted like a customer??!?!! Since this incident had happened within 1 min of the cut, I knew the experience was not going to be enjoyable, as much as I had hoped otherwise.As I said, the cut was great and everyone seemed quite nice and lovely, but first impressions are everything. And everyone has bad days, I get it but when youre in customer service oriented industry, it speaks volume of how you treat your customers, esp the new ones. I did give him a tip because he knows what hes doing and I enjoyed the haircut, but I will never return to Ken or this barber shop again. Very disappointed about my experience, and even more disappointed that I had to write this review.

Best barber shop in Arlington. I was struggling to find a good barber when I first moved to the area until I met Eric and Jon. Theyre so good I followed them from their last barber shop to the Bearded Goat. Both are great barbers who can give you that perfect look with either scissors or an electric razor.

Ive gotta say... I dont write a lot of reviews for businesses online, positive or negative. However, this last 18 months has really been great with Rizwan (Riz) at Bearded Goat. I have bounced around to different barbers in Arlington over the last 6 years. Granted my level of expectations for quality have increased as I have gotten older but it has been a blessing to finally find someone that can discuss style with you, work together to make changes overtime rather than ask for something and get something totally different(my experience with past barbers in Arlington... you ask for one thing and then they give you the same fade). Riz and the whole team over here are professional, ON TIME(rare to find today), and able to think outside of the box. If youre looking for a quality barber shop that is going to spend their time listening to you and working with you this is it. And the higher priced haircut certainly is commensurate with the quality you would expect and will get from this talented team.

I have not gone back to my original barber since... sorry Jorge! All the barbers at Bearded Goat make sure your cuts are 100% the way you want them. I always look forward to my next appointment.

Eric has been cutting my hair longer than I can remember and I have never left his chair and not been happy. I have followed him to a few different barbershops and cant say enough about his new place. Him and Jon are both excellent barbers and great people. Their passion for their craft shows in their work and now shows in their new barber shop. Its sleek, modern, welcoming and relaxing. The free cold brew is amazing and an awesome touch. Rizwan gave me a great haircut, and just as importantly we had a great discussion before starting about style and goals. I was looking to make a drastic change and he was happy asking some questions and discussing style before we started. Let me just say this one time, because it seems like others are having issues. MAKE A RESERVATION. It’s not hard. You can do it online. It takes 2 minutes. You’re paying $45 for a haircut. This isn’t a “random barber shop” or a sport clips. The people who work here are damn good at what they do and take pride in their work. I was offered coffee/water as soon as I checked in and everyone working was incredible friendly and good at what they do. If you care about your hair, check this place out.

It was very clean, and all staff were extremely friendly. But at the end of the day I’m not looking to spend $50 for a haircut, spend 45 minutes in a chair, nor do I want to have to go get my haircut again in a week because they cut so little of my actual hair. Just not the type of barber I’m looking for.

Unfortunately I have to agree with others that this place is pretty unprofessionally run. With it being nearly empty they turned me away for not having an appointment, despite no mention anywhere of needing one (and dont think its exactly standard for random barber shops to require appointments.) Best part though is that no one mentioned this until I had already been waiting a while.

Honestly the best and most professional barber I’ve been in. It is kinda pricey but they give you what you want. Rizwan is amazing. I’m very picky on who could cut my hair. Rizwan did an amazing job on it. He focused on every single detail on what I asked for.

Suggestion: Put the need to book service at the very top of your website, and be more welcoming. Indeed most places would start with, Hello, welcome. This is the city; there are other places to go. Which is what I did. Not to mention youre on the backside of 9th street. Again, please be more welcoming. You were not.

Caveat to this review is that I never actually received a haircut.Ive been getting cuts at barbershops for a few years now and have had good and bad experiences. I was looking forward to checking out Bearded Goat for their great looking cuts and modern styles. I made an appointment and an hour before received a phone call that the person Id made an appointment with was uncomfortable with a womans cut. After explaining that I get a pretty standard cut, I was told again I should reschedule for a different person. This went back and forth a few more times before I finally asked to just cancel. I dont have the energy to argue with ridiculous behavior like that. So, recommendation is that if youre a woman, dont bother trying. I imagine queer and LGBT+ folx would face similar gatekeeping behavior. I expect better from local businesses in 2019.

Bearded Goat is hands down the best barbershop in the Arlington area. I’ve been going since week one and will never go anywhere else. Not only do they give a great haircut for a great price, the shop is beautiful, and the staff is incredibly nice.As a weekly customer I’ve gotten to know all of the barbers and employees, and always look forward to catching up with them during my weekly cut. I’m shocked to read the very few negative reviews on here, particularly the ones claiming unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’ve never felt unwelcomed or discriminated against, and have always been treated with the same respect as every other patron.If you’re looking for the best haircut in Arlington, go nowhere else!

Called to see if they accept walk-ins & if they cut African American hair. I was pleasantly surprised that they do both and had an open chair in the next 10mins. I was received by an extremely kind receptionist & waited less than a min for the chair to open. When it comes to these new modern type barbershops I almost never give them a chance bc they typically advertise that they cut all types of ethnicities & once you sit down you quickly realize they don’t. In this case I was totally wrong. I sat in Nic’s chair. Absolutely amazing. I gave him a very detailed description of what I need & he hit it right on the mark. No hesitation. No fumbling look. He knew what it was. My shadow fade was top notch, my line up was tight but didn’t look artificial, he even established a better line up for my beard (no Bigen). He used top of the line clippers & high end products for the precise straight razor work. After a year of searching all over the DMV, I’ve found my new shop.100% recommend.
