Do not rent from Lyon Place, or any Saul Centers property.I lived here for two years and had a number of maintenance issues, including an exterior drain clogging and flooding my apartment, resulting in the hardwood being replaced. The response times were average. We had a passable experience. But moving out was the most teeth-pulling experience that I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. The leasing office gave us written permission to move out on short notice but then recanted and stuck us with a bill. In the communications back and forth with their offices, I found their staff to be the least professional team I have ever dealt with. They routinely dodged emails, forgot about scheduled meetings, and did not show any care to my case until it became clear that I would sue. They simultaneously insisted that they could not alter the amount owed according to the lease, while also shrinking the amount owed as a gesture of goodwill despite claiming that they could not do that.Lyon Place is a decent place to live but god help you if you encounter any issues. They will never care, and no amount of pressure will make them care. Saul Centers has few properties in the area so you cannot threaten their reputation. Just stay away, for your own sake.

Lyon Place is so lovely and the Management and Service Personnel are attentive, friendly, kind and responsive. The tenants are genial, and it is a pet-friendly building, so our community encounters are often enlivened by animal personalities. One has a sense of shared community and camaraderie with Personnel and Tenants. The Building is welcoming, beautiful and meticulously kept, and my unit is spacious, featuring ceiling-to-floor windows, wonderful light and perfect views. Great services and perfect location for walking, shopping, entertainment, and a quick corridor ride to D.C. Could not imagine living anywhere else in Arlington.

I lived at Lyon Place for 4 years (2017- May 2021). It was great living there. The common areas are well kept and feature beautiful art. The maintenance staff is friendly, respectful and the turnaround for maintenance requests is less than 24hrs. In all of my time there I dont even remember anything breaking in the building, not even an out of order elevator. One of the things that I liked most was how reliable the building was. I was always sure that things would work and if not, that it would be fix quickly.During the pandemic, I was impressed with how they quickly implemented safety measures -including a hand-motion mechanism to open the doors in the main lobby, to avoid touching surfaces. This is the type of thing that I was used to in the building, very responsive and always the best option. The leasing officer, Wally, was always very friendly and attentive both when I first moved in and every time I renewed my lease. The front desk staff was always helpful and available. My apartment was a studio apartment in the second floor. I didnt have any problems with noise but that might vary depending on the unit location. Mine was at the end of the hall, overlooking the courtyard of the building. Beautiful view! The amenities inside the apartment are top notch. I never had any pest issues. The smoke alarm was not too sensitive, but I did have to open a window if I was cooking for longer than normal. The location is amazing. Trader Joes is downstairs and has an entrance from inside the building. Very convenient in the winter. Whole Foods is a few blocks down the street. Target is a 30min walk.I ride my bike a lot and specially during the pandemic, it was my main mode of transportation. There are bike lanes all around the area and easy access to trails from Courthouse, Rosslyn and Ballston. I used to ride to Georgetown to meet friends for coffee or a bite (pre-pandemic).I only moved out because my office is no longer in DC (main reason why I was living there), so I moved closer to my family. I was sad to leave, but it didnt make sense to stay in the area.

Pros: the front desk staff are always helpful, proximity to the Metro is a big plus, building engineers and cleaning staff are super courteous, no pet rent, just a one time fee when you move in, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are pretty close.Cons: the management of the building frequently nickel and dimes on extra fees, front office staff rarely respond to inquiry emails in a reasonable amount of time, early birds beware of the noise from the establishments around the building in the evenings, some apartments have very, very sensitive fire alarms (bakers and amateur cooks should check were the fire alarm is relative to the kitchen before moving in), walls seem to be a bit thin.

Our new apartment was missing four screens which was very annoying. We finally got new ones put in, but noticed one was loose because it was making noise when it was windy. I contacted the building to have maintenance fix it since I have seen screens that have fallen onto the sidewalk. After a week and a half, it had still not been fixed because the building doesn’t think potential injury is deemed an emergency. We just got a bill for moving out of our apartment which included a $125 cleaning fee despite the fact that we cleaned the apartment beforehand. The only mention about a cleaning fee was that they were offering a cleaning service for a fee of $125 if we wanted to go that route, but we never contacted management to set that up.Apartments and location is great. However management is subpar. They do not respond to emails and more often than not, fail follow through. Some of the management staff are unable to answer even simple questions.

The building is extremely well managed and maintained. All of the concierges are very friendly and seem to know all of the residents. The maintenance team is extremely efficient, almost always resolving requests same day. Location cant really be beat and units are nice.My only wish were that they would create a dog friendly zone on the property. A small fenced run in the courtyard or some space on the roof. This place is dog friendly and a lot is paid to have them here, but it doesnt offer anything for our furry loved ones.

We lived at Lyon Place for nearly a year. We moved out only because of a cross country move to California. I cannot say enough about the wonderful management and concierge service at Lyon Place while I was a resident. I found the amenities in our apartment to be of top quality (granite, stainless steel) and the apartments are warm and inviting. The best part about Lyon Place is the location -- just fabulous. Take the back hallway of the building past Trader Joes and down the hallway that leads directly outside the building where youll find the Clarendon Metro Station. There are the wonderful restaurants and shops nearby and even more within blocks of this beautiful building -- very upscale, very urban. I noticed other reviewers complained of noise -- of course you will hear noise if you live in the center of an urban lifestyle -- there are restaurants, bars, traffic. You know going in that you live in the center of everything -- you live in the heart of Clarendon in one of the most beautiful apartment buildings in that area. I slept great at night and didnt honestly notice the noise others are complaining about. I faced the beautiful courtyard which, by the way, is absolutely gorgeous at night. Plenty of seating and the property manager was absolutely fabulous -- very nice mixers/resident parties were organized and carried out by she and her staff. They always made sure the residents were treated very nicely and enjoyed wonderful evenings. I never had a complaint about receiving packages, having my dry cleaning taken care of -- the concierge made sure everything I needed was taken care of. This buildings management is a real class act! I highly recommend Lyon Place -- I miss it and would move back there in a heartbeat if I ever return to Northern VA. Lyon Place is just a sophisticated and great place to live.

I have lived here for 12 months and love the apartment! Top of the line appliances, excellent security, and 24 hour concierge. Management is quick to react if an issue comes up and strives to ensure that it is rectified.

We like the gym. Then, the direct route to Trader Joes is pretty convenient.

We applied for an apartment which was occupied at the time of our application. They were charged us $650 including $300 for amenities and another $300 for keeping the unit out of market. The day that the unit became available, we went there and saw the unit was not in a good shape (too dark, smelly and very old carpet). We decided to cancel our reservation on the same day.We contacted them multiple times. However, they refused to refund any portion of the $650 we paid even the fact that they rented out the unit in a couple of days. This is complete nonsense since they didn’t even bother to refund the amenity fees considering that we hadn’t singed any contract.

Lyon place company keeps removing my review! The only reason Lyon Place doesnt have any bad removes is that they have some way of removing their reviews. Notice, barely any reviews in the last few years. Suspicious! When I moved out of the apartment, they will incredibly rude and charged me hundreds of dollars to repaint the apartment when it was in mint condition. Dont let that them trick you when you check out the apartment with their faux kindness. All I have to say is two words: Watch Out!

Positives: (1) Great location for users of the Red/Orange metro line. They also have a TV screen at the lobby that tells you how much time you have until the next train arrives. Might save you rushing to the station if you know that you have plenty of time. (2) Nice indoor pool thats great for doing laps. It isnt as long as a normal pool, but swimming is swimming. Im sure people can play/lounge in it too, but just its shape and 4 foot depth indicates that its mainly a workout pool. (3) There is a Trader Joes store that you can enter without even leaving the complex. Amazing for someone, like me, whose forgotten an important ingredient for todays meal. (4) Small gym with the very basics: 2 benches, large rack of dumbbells, a cable machine, some treadmills, and (most important to me) peace and quiet. Maybe my personal schedule is different than others, but I feel like this tiny, community gym is my big, personal gym because its almost always empty. (4) A convenient recycle/trash room on every hallway. There are two chutes (one trash, one recyclable) to decide between, and neither of them let off a terrible odor. I liked my previous apartment in Bethesda, but I never liked their outdoor, communal collection of dumpsters. (6) The maintenance people are great and give quick room repairs/modifications when necessary. (7) There are a lot of nice bars and restaurants close by. (8) If you have a dog (or dogs), James Hunter Park is only one or two blocks away. The thing is nice because its a rare place where dogs can actually run without a leash.Negative: The Achilles Heel for Lyons Place is the noise (in particular, the loud crowds on the weekends). There is no way to get around it, although your apartments exact placement and height could influence your actual volume. For me, its just an annoyance, but I completely understand how some tenants could despise the loud music, laughing, yelling, etc. If you cherish silence, then you should probably look elsewhere.***FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS***Im entirely bound to my manual wheelchair, and this place has worked well for me so far. Im in the smallest type of the apartments, but I can get into all of the rooms. The (mostly) hardwood floor makes my turns easier. The bathroom that I have is big enough to for me to use everything, but not by much. Fortunately, the area around Lyon Place doesnt have any big hills or slopes, so you wont have to battle gravity.
