They lose your baggage and claim it will be delivered to you the next day. Of course it’s not delivered. And naturally, there’s no way to find out what’s going on, by design.Their phone number to inquire where your bag is has been disconnected for your convenience, and has a recorded message saying you need to go online. Their website claims the bag was delivered successfully and on time the day of the flight, when you know that’s not true and when in-person they told you it would be delayed a day. If you call the actual airport baggage people, they are nice, but say you can only go through the airline to resolve your baggage issue.The American Airlines understanding and pursuit of customer service is like a cat’s understanding and pursuit of mouse well-being and happiness.American literally gives you no way to find out what’s actually going on and no way to contact anyone, by design. This is why I usually fly Southwest.

If I could give zero stars I would love to do it ,I never flying with American Airlines is the most horrible costumer service plus this lady Name Christina at the checking point is races the most races with Spanish speakers she told my friend she don’t understand English Christina jail at me and my friend several times i told her to lower the voice to me and she told me she will call the police just because i was defending my friend Christina should definitely not work there horrible lady. All this happen at National Regan airport please avoid this two lady’s Christina and Daphne if you don’t wanna have the worse experience of your life

They requested I change my flight then canceled it an hour before my flight after I upgraded to first class. And because I still needed to fly they denied a refund for the upgrade nor honored placing me in first class on my flight.

Excellent service from the ticketing agent. Ticketing agent went above and beyond to try to get me on an International flight, but I did not have all the preauthorization requirements. Agent assisted me in completing forms, did periodic spot checks and reassured me she would get me on the next flight. Unfortunately I had to return the next day, and this same agent pulled me out of the line, reviewed all my paperwork, and seamlessly ticketed me for the flight. Her exemplary performance, caring and comfort eased my disappointment with myself( for not reviewing my pre-travel requirements thoroughly).

Absolutely terrible experience. Lying employees, we got there early with seat numbers and they wouldnt let us board. Refused to admit that they gave our seats away and said it was too late when multiple factors proved it wasnt. Wouldnt even give us vouchers and tried to tell us we arrived at a different time than we did, but they actually closed the boarding early. We will be stuck in limbo all day waiting for seats on flights and connecting flights. Not even an apology. Will NEVER use them again.

Took over an hour to get my bag because of weather. If the plane landed and pulled up to the gate, then its not just weather. Other people were waiting for over three hours. Other airlines had no one waiting. App is not user friendly and does not provide nearly as much data as delta. Constantly getting updates via email and on this trip they changed gates approximately 10 times.

At National theres an area to drop off the bags and the agent was very rude. I was waiting for instructions since she was busy arranging other bags, but she just yelled leave it there, as if I was bothering her. Everyone else was courteous

Okay so I flew AA from DCA this past December, had no issues except one thing on my returning flight. From DCA to LAX I had a skateboard and my carry on bag. They did not make me check in my luggage because the board fits under my seat and my carry on above. Well on the way back to DCA, I had a layover in PHX. 5 minutes apart. I had to run from one end of the terminal to the other which if you’ve never been is a 10 minute walk. I nearly missed my connecting flight, and not to mention a grabby flight attendant snatched my carry on and put a checked bag ticket on it and took it away. No explanation as to why it suddenly was an issue. Despite that lack of communication and human decency from that guy, my luggage did arrive accordingly. & I did have spaced out seats. However, I’m not sure if that will be the case on my upcoming trip. I’m flying AA out of DCA again at the end of June, heading to GRK, TX. except this time I’m fully vaccinated, and doing a checked bag ahead of time LOL.. wish the ticket prices were as cheap as they were in December 2020 , but alas. My fault for traveling for Fourth of July I suppose.Some pros: cleanliness, provided a complimentary drink and snack bag with disinfectant wipes (in economy), super sweet to me when answering in questions I had. I’m a anxious flier and it helps to know where the restrooms are, exits, attendants will be, etc so I’m not feeling lost when we take off. Even asked me if I needed any help with a fan or extra water for hot flashes I get when motion sick. Seemed very courteous. And I also treat people how I wish to be treated. So I’m respectful of them and got it in return... because uhhhSome of these poor reviews make me wonder if it’s really the attendees who are provoking their reactions. As someone who works retail 9/10 that’s what it is. Not saying there aren’t some nasty people working at AA, every company has them, but, one star seems harsh when there are some pros if you look for them :) safe travels to anyone reading this !

Worst customer support Ive ever dealt with. Left my wife stranded over night at Regan international after telling us she would get a hotel voucher then after she landed knowing there was a delay they told her there was nothing they could do they left for the night 20 minutes ago theyll be back at 3am.. are you kidding you call that customer support these airlines should be sued until they bankrupt and another company thats regulated and wont screw you take over.

Granted we did not get here an hour before to check our bags in but it would not matter because AA employees said we should have been here 90 min to 3 hours before to CHECK BAGS so that those bags can make it on the plane!!!!!. No where on the information we received about the flight stated that!!!!!!!

They simply do not care whether you get to your destination on time. This is a cut-rate airline pretending to operate on a level comparable to Delta. Their service is decent, their pilots are decent— but their planes are old and breaking— and they’re disorganized as all hell. Too many delays. Too many issues. Too many blunders. Too many mistakes. Too much wasting my time and the time of customers around me. Flight AA2123.

The very poor rating comes for a reason. Flew with them on London jfk route (a ticket sold to me by British airways) service was poor food and drinks only served once for the transatlantic flight crew on the verge of rudeness and unfriendly. When landed in jfk received an email that one out of two suitcases was delayed. Filed a missing luggage form. Online tracking not working. Call center took 20 min to answer and could not give me any concrete info. They only email the airport staff and two days still after my bag is not delivered. Total disappointment

I travel with American for work constantly. So I kinda know how this works. Their app has issues, and crashes every couple of minutes. Issue was that the app inserted the wrong last name for my girlfriend. After I checked in i noticed that the error occurred. I was on the phone with AA for about 2 hours on 3 separate calls trying to resolve this yesterday. The result was they told me I need to go to the resolutions counter. We came early to get this taken care of, but the line attendant tried to refuse to let me in the resolutions counter line. I explained that I needed to get a ticket fixed. Then the same attendant asked me 3 more times why I needed too be in the line. We proceeded to the resolutions counter where we were greated with unprofessional disgust at our meer presence by Christina. THIS WOMAN NEEDS TO BE FIRED! We tried to explain, but she was paying attention to the next station, baggage rolling by, belittling her coworkers, etc. So she didnt bother to even comprehend our issue. After I explained that I had trouble with the app and it inserted the wrong name, she took an extremely condescending tone and began to scold us that we made the mistake. After I just conceded and said yes youre right just to move the process along, she continued to berate us. I flatly told her maam you are being disrespectful. After that, she listened and the process began to move. I want this review to make out to American Airlines HR. Action should be taken too correct this womans behavior.

This place is a mess. An hour late departure and your lucky to hear any announcements. The gate attendants are drones. Board an hour after the original boarding time, yet their app still shows everything on time, kinda makes the app useless. I guess it all goes hand in hand for American Airlines.The only reason to fly with them..... if you have no other options.Giving them 1 star because negatives stars are a non option....... thankfully for them!

Surprisingly disappointing. American is my preference where no one else can go.Showed up for curbside checking First class priority. Make the line and the personnel tell you after 30 minutes to head inside for international. Alright, head inside and now time is pressing, walk up to nearest attendant ticketing agent... .mrs L. LONG and I guess I ruined her day by showing up to her available desk. She rolls eyes and asks for passports... Cant tell if my tickers are priority first class. Like I dont know their sabre system is absolute... Gave me an excuse that outside employees are contracted out and they dont know any better (they represent the brand and no training? And on top throw dirt on them?).... She was available and though it wasnt the priority lane...my logic to request service from no line scenario ruined her morning....I was pressed for time and instead of sure this isnt priority lane but I can definitely help you I felt like she thought I was non-reving or asking for a hand out. She produced the tickets and baggage labels. I was just in need of help and felt my first experience at this airport at AA was below their hospitality and service enticement Ive experienced before elsewhere.

My partner’s flight from MHT to DCA was delayed 1+ hours due to “routine maintenance” that they decided to perform AFTER they had boarded the flight and it was time to take off. Delayed departure caused him to miss his connection in DC for flight home. There were no more flights home that day, so he had to stay overnight for connecting flight in the morning. AA offered to “compensate” with transportation/food/hotel vouchers, but none of the cab companies accept the transportation vouchers, they took him to a hotel 30+ miles away into another state, and a terrible part of town that had no internet/phone service, and then refused to pick him up again the next day. The cab companies and shuttles wouldn’t service the hotel they took him to, and it was filthy. The food voucher was for $12, and didn’t even cover the cost of a sandwich. The whole experience was a nightmare, and resulted in additional exorbitant out of pocket expenses and a loss of a day of work. Will not fly AA again.

Worst airlines to do business with , every time in any airport . There always seems to be an issue with something may it be communication issues with there equipment, or there pilots not keeping track of the hours forcing them to divert plane back to terminal delaying flights even longer. This will be the last time I book any flights with American Airlines period !
