Delicious food and great service. It was super busy but we were seated and served quickly. Food and drinks were great, as was the company. We love knowing that our money is staying local, too! A great place for dinner with the family. We had 3 kids under 5 with us, and they all had a great time.

Walleye fish dinner at Friday night fish fry. Baked tater, cole slaw, marbled rye bread and 2 huge Walleye filets. A good way to leave full!

The staff I interacted with were all fantastic. The bartender approached me quickly despite talking with regulars. She answered my questions and was friendly. I sat in on the line dancing class and had a lot of fun. The teachers were fantastic and full of energy. I had fun even though I didnt participate. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because they charge for water like several bars seem to have started doing.

Everybody can do fish, good or bad. The VFW in my opinion does it very well. I like the walleye dinner a brandy old fashion and a white Russian as dessert. Thats only half of it, the other half is the staff so much fun great at what they do. My favorite place for fish, I have never been disappointed

For the most part the VFW in Appleton is closed. If you have a lot of money and you would like to donate it to get the VFW going again it would be great. I was there for a Boy Scout meeting. The VFW sponsors Boy Scout Troop 67

I attended a Memorial Luncheon a few Saturdays ago and they did A SUPERB JOB!!EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT!The workers did a phenomenal job organizing everything, food was delicious, and they were so flexible to the groups needs throughout the night!! I highly recommend them for your next event, HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!

Such a great place to come. I planned a party there and it was all set and ready to go when I got there. Food was excellent and the staff was great. Casey the manager went above and beyond to help me with anything I needed and the bartender Steve was so much fun. I will be coming back and Will be telling people about the amazing experience I had

I tell ya what... we absolutely love our local VFW! The staff and the atmosphere cant be beat. Not to mention the outstanding food on the new menu. Highly recommended!

I purchased a $20 coupon from a local radio station. Having worked at a radio stations for years, I am familiar with something they call trade out. advertising in which they exchange advertising for these coupons. However, when I tried to use the coupon at the VFW, the guy in charge told me he never got any money out of this so he would not accept it. As I was trying to explain to him how trade-outs work, he started raising his voice to me, continuously saying, Listen to me! Listen to me! I told him he received advertising in exchange for this coupon. He said he didnt. Basically the guy stole free advertising from the radio station by refusing to accept the coupon.This place has always been poorly run by people who have no business sense. But people would overlook this because of the good food. My parents used to eat at this place every Friday. When I came of age, I also frequented the place. However I seldom go to this place any more because over the years, the food quality has gone down and the customer service has become very bad. Years back, people would wait at the bar for a table to open up. Now, half the bar was empty and there were a number of open tables at 6:00 on a Friday evening. How sad to see how far this place has fallen.This alone is reason enough for me to never go there again, but the absolute lack of professionalism of this so-called manager is the reason for this review so that I can save others from making the same mistake I made. Trust me, there are plenty of good fish fries in the area. Dont waste your time on this one. As it turns out, another local establishment earned my business that night. i walked out. Heres a lesson in economics... since they refused to honor my $20 coupon that I paid for, they lost the sale, they lost my business, and they will probably lose more business because of my review.

Went for the fish fry they have one of the best fish frys great tartar and coleslaw. However the service was terrible tonight took an hour for our food (3 people) and 1 order was completely forgotten to be given to the kitchen. Also had to ask 3 times to have water. Which took like 15 minutes to receive.

Breading on wallye was absolutely stiff from frying it too long. Switch to Zatarans brand. Also, I suggest all kitchen help and servers eat what they will serve tonight.

Bartenders are great. Love the fish. They also have potato pancakes!!! Always good.

Fun spot. Food could have been better but I would try it again.

We really enjoy the VFW. The staff is always friendly. The food is very good with a nice selection for Friday fish night.

If you are like me and came here when you were younger and it was an experience that you remember fondly, avoid this place now. There are no nice older ladies waitressing who know what they are doing. The place isnt full and people waiting loudly in the bars, though people are waiting for tables even when 1/3 of the place is seated. You cant see into the kitchen anymore. The perch was terrible and the it was the lightest color I have ever seen perch which is probably why I had stomach issues later that evening along with my boyfriend. The very young hostesses were goofing around the whole time and were only 6 feet away being unprofessional, dancing around, rapping, being extremely loud, making obnoxious pages to bring people waiting back from the bar. I understand having fun at a job, but it shouldnt be at the expense of the customers experience. I wish I would have preserved my memory of this place and not gone here. What a shame.

Appleton WI. (Richmond st.) VFW Fish Fries R Phenomenally Epic, Awesomely Lit. The best I have ever seen as far as size, smell, appearance, taste but mainly thickness, fresh fish flakiness. but not drying. The batter expertisiness no changes r needed definantly. And in a quick snapshot of the best freshest in close to 40 years. My Suggestion is to TRY IT For Urself. U will also b amazed. Its unspeakably remarkable to the nose tastebuds and digestive system yummmy

Originally Koehne’s Tavern. Early 1900’s to 1950’s when it was sold to the VFW. Made it through prohibition selling beer but stayed out of the hard liquor business.

Well little disappointed. Brought a southern friend for a transitional Wisconsin fish fry. Fish was cold greasy expensive for 3 tiny pieces of fish

Great Friday perch

They raised their prices. And the food, overall is not reflective of this price change. For a Friday fish fry - there are many, many other places in Appleton.
