I never saw the place, but I called and set up a day to adopt a bird they had. I told them I wanted it, so they told me to come at one clock on a Wednesday, fill out paperwork and can take bird home. I bought all my supplies and bird cage, to give bird a good home, all excited. Called Wednesday morning to make sure I got directions right, due to I was a hour away and they told me they adopted it! If I didnt call I would drove there for nothing and It sad they set the day up for me to come and adopt and knew I wanted to adopt the bird. So displeased!! How they did that, no phone call to at least say we got someone you still interested., Or could told other person well got someone interested, if they dont show then you can adopt. Very poor professional business.

We adopted a kind, loving dog today and the entire process was quick and everyone was so happy to see this little sweetheart find a good home. Something is off about this place. Someone grabbed my dog off my property and turned my dog in all within10 mins after i let him out.. Hes never ran away ever in the 14 years Ive had him. Mind you I was in the driveway working on my truck at this time..I didnt realize he wasnt in his usual spot on the door stoop until a few hours later when i finished. I called APD and they said he was in fact at the shelter. I drove to the shelter. I rang the buzzer no answer. Called the number on the door no answer. Texted the same number no answer. Well see how this pans out as I continue to get in contact with these people.

They all need love and care and cannot wait to get homes. It broke my heart to see the older cats in there but they are well taken care of.I just want to spread the word for anyone who can donate to this cause to do so. I’d like to start by saying that my kitten is a lovely little girl and she is happy and (soon to be) healthy. I adopted her from the Fox Valley Humane Association after the passing of my previous cat. On the day that I was viewing her I noticed she was sneezing and the girl there informed me she had previously had a upper respiratory infection. Claiming it was no longer we assumed she was “just getting over it” and signed the paper claiming we will take her as is, with no medical conditions. I also want to add that the the girl said to this to us “we would say she has an upper respiratory infection and give you her medicine schedule, but she doesn’t have one so.” I take her home and her sneezing continues to worsen. I call a week later asking for help because she was already sneezing the day of her adoption from them. I receive a call back saying that there is nothing they can do and I need to take her to my own vet. My main issue is not the cost of taking my brand new kitten to the vet already, or anything like that. But the fact that they knew she had a history of illness, brushed me off when I brought up the concern on her adoption day, and then proceeded to “too bad so sad” me when I asked for help. Frankly, if you choose to adopt from them, do not expect your kitten to be as “happy and healthy” as they say, and dont expect them to care once its adopted.

Still working on hopefully adopting a dog from the shelter. Staff was fairly nice and knowledgeable on the ones we did look at and meet. However if you dont have any current animals up to date on vaccinations or meet any of the other application requirements dont bother filling out an application as the adoption process is basically set on a first come first served basis for any applicant that immediately meets all the paperwork requirements. For us, we have two cats whose tabbies vaccinations recently expired and regardless of the fact that we have appointments for them to be updated in 2 days if anyone else applies and passes for the same animal between now and then they will be approved for the adoption of the animal.

Lots of awesome dogs and cats to choose from. Staff is friendly and helpful and they have an adoption fair coming up soon. The facility is very clean and animals appear to be healthy, I thought their prices for adoption were very expensive for the average family in this area. However we did find a very nice dog,but sadly our application was denied due to our other animals not being spayed. We have a female cat that is almost five spayed and very healthy and happy. We have a kitten who is not spayed because she is too young. I see no point in spaying our dog she will never be allowed to breed, she is a very well behaved healthy and happy Doberman Pincher who is never outside unattended. But I understand their rules. My kitten will definitely be getting spayed the end of next month. But we decided to look elsewhere for a dog because spaying our dog at her age seems totally unnecessary.

Our second dog we got who we were told was in good health proved to be a lie, we took him in for a check up with our vet 2 days after we got him and found out he was very under weight, had a double ear infection and had hook worms. Dont get me wrong I do not regret adopting these dogs because they are very loving and friendly. I just wish the shelter would have been honest about there health. This place is a JOKE. My boyfriend and I came in there with the intention of adopting a dog. We fell in love with an Am. Staff, Blue. We went through all the hoops, put in an application, and were one step from adopting this handsome boy. We were told that our application “looked good” upon a quick glance, but they had to call the apartment we were going to move into (at the end of July) to check if the apartment accepted that breed. They also said he would be put on hold for us if our application was approved. The next day, we stopped in just to say “hi” to Blue. We were told that our new apartment we are going to move into did NOT accept Blue’s breed and we had a choice that came from the adoption manager herself.... either we don’t get Blue due to the restriction, or not move into the new apartment. It was a no-brainer to us! We fell in love with Blue and his chill personality so we chose to not move into the apartment. We let the manager know that later on in this visit. The next day, my boyfriend stopped in with his two brothers (18 and 13 years old) just so take dogs for a walk and the youngest brother wanted to pet another cute dog, not even to talk about the application! The adoption manager/receptionist stopped all three of them, spoke to my boyfriend directly saying we were denied and were not allowed to see Blue or ANY OTHER DOG for 6 MONTHS!! My boyfriend asked “why,” the lady then said “it was suspicious” that we had moved twice in one year, and they “didn’t want the dog to know more than one place.” My boyfriend and I are both in our early twenties, have very good jobs, and, yes, still rent, but that shouldn’t matter if we moved twice in one year. We have never been evicted, but our first apartment was getting water damage, so we had to move to the second place we had put down in the application. The lady still didn’t believe him, so my boyfriend and his brothers left feeling bad and defeated. He told me what happened that night, and I didn’t really believe him... ONLY because I put so much trust into this place and into these PEOPLE.I personally went there the next day and spoke with a very nice receptionist that I’ve never seen before. I then overheard two other receptionists (whom snuck into the back when I got there) and say “oh, SHE’S here!?” After I asked the status of my application. I wanted to see if they would be honest and tell me we were denied, or give us the “run around.” The nice lady came back and said “we are going to call your current landlord on Friday” (it was Tuesday at this visit). And I thought that was that....Friday come along... I work about 2 minutes from this place, so I stopped by to check what was all going on. My landlord informed me that he never got a call from them. When I got there, I spoke with the adoption manager (the ONLY manager around) about the application AGAIN. She told me that she had left a voicemail for my landlord trying to verify that we lived where we said we lived. I verified the phone number, and apparently it was the correct one. Before I left, she said “oh, by the way, he’s being put on hold for someone else.” He was supposed to be put on hold for us! She told my boyfriend and I two different things/stories/statements. I just felt so defeated with this place that I just walked out. We never actually got denied as far as I know. When I got back home (20 minutes later) my landlord had still not gotten a call, so I had him call them. The receptionist on the phone said the adoption manager had left already and won’t be back until Monday...I just feel like this place has ZERO knowledge on what’s going on with applications. We have put so much time into this place to adopt a dog. WE GAVE UP OUR NEW APARTMENT FOR THIS DOG! We really had our heart set on Blue... please don’t adopt from this place, they are NOT trustworthy, and they will break your heart over and over again. Horrible place. I have never encountered such an unorganized place such as this. All we wanted was to help adopt a dog in need, love it, and give him the best life possible...

Went here to adopt a kitten, Freddy. Emailed application, had called and was told to come on in. Drove from Green Bay to Appleton, just to hear they dont have the application. Filled out another one on the spot. Then was told ALL family members must be there. They were to call my references and prior Vet for our other kitty ( to make sure she was up to date on shots) while I drove all the way back to GB to pick up the other family member (a 31yr old adult.)Got back there, they didnt acknowledge that I brought the other family member back. What was the point again?Next they brought the wrong kitten in, 20 minutes later they bring the right one in. Again, I said yeah we will take Freddy! Turns out they never bothered to start processing the application, never called the references, landlord, or the other vet. Thanks for giving my 9yr old daughter hope that we would get the kitten only to smash her heart. Terrible service! They have no idea what is going on there and are very unorganized. Its amazing they are able to adopt out any animals with the level of care they give the adopters. They even had the gull to say What doesnt the Brown County Humane Society have any animals for you?Very disappointed. I feel bad for all the animals there and other potential adopters. Im sure there are a lot of GREAT homes for these animals that never happen due to the lack of professionalism at this facility. It really is sad. This weekend was their Super Adoption Event. Even when we were there visiting the past it seems as if you can never find someone there to talk or they dont know at all how can you have a job and not know about the job positions or the descriptions of the pets that are there , that you have to give your customers it is crazy. I would never go back to this one particular Humane Society in Appleton and I also will call the Better Business Bureau and report them because Im tired of the games in the garbage that they give to people who actually want and will take care of these pets like their their family I even saw a customer come in there and they gave the dog right to him without thought process that I have been going through for the past 3 years. I asked why did he path to go through the process. I was told because he had no other pets and he owns a home. That is so unfair and very judgmental of the employees and the staff that work there at the Humane Society in Appleton. Everyone may not have a house and everyone may not have any pets at all so how can you bathe a dog have been in a safe environment and home off of those two things. How do you know that I dont have any other pets. I just cannot stand this Humane Society.

A great place to help save a life. Or even go and help out there too! Good for the critters and great for you. I ADOPTED my dog there the other day and everyone was so happy that he got a new home. They where sad because some of them made great bonds with him too. He never leaves my side in less my kids have French Frys lol

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!My wife called in last week as she noticed a dog that they had available for adoption. She told them upon the phone that we had just recently adopted another dog about 8 weeks ago and was wondering if we liked what we saw if our dog could meet the one at the facility. They said that it would not be a problem, but the dog at the facility would have to get over her kennel cough before (which we agree with) but if she was a match for us they would put the adoption as pending. We proceed to visit the dog at their facility that day, and both fell in love with her. After stating this, they would hold the dog for us and find our application which was probably in a shuffle of other applications upon a desk in back (quite unorganized). Instead of this, my wife decided to fill out a new application which again was shuffled around and not processed. A week later, we receive a phone call saying that they will not adopt to us due to us saving a dog in the last few months. We told them this before we even drove to the facility!! Why did they take our time and there time to waste with this?THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!! VISIT A SHELTER THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT FINDING A PROPER HOME, AS THIS ONE DOES NOT!!

So word to the wise for anyone trying to adopt an animal through the Fox Valley humane society: understand that when they tell you that they can put a 24 hour hold on a pet to make sure that you know you can get it, the hold literally means nothing. Someone can still go the next day and adopt the animal you had a hold on.

I had my puppies spayed and neutered and received their shots there. Very friendly and had us go in the back to get our babies to take the pain medication before surgery. They sent home pain meds after the surgery and we picked them up that day

Looked at 2 puppies and they both had poop on them. They need to keep a closer eye on the dogs. They did have an 1 1/2year old that was very nice. Have to think about the cost. 375 for r his one and the puppies were 450. Im not sure but that might be a little to high of a price to pay for a dog.

Well they will not help you if you need it. I am disabled and have kittens I need to surrender. I called Saturday to find out if they will do a pick up. I was told yes for a $45 fee. I had to leave a message with Vicki who is the executive director and she would call me when she came to work on Monday. I waited until Tuesday and called again still no response. I waited until Thursday and called again then I was told that Vicki has multiple jobs and cant seem to keep up. So I than asked if there was another options Because I was getting no response. I was told that I would have to ask Vicki so I was put through to her voice mail again only this time I left a not so pleasent message because being nice got me no where. Guess what I got a call back in 20min amazing how she became unbusy. Then she tells me I was given wrong information that they only pick up in certain situations. I would have to pay 45$ for transport and 30$ per cat I have 7 I tried to help 2 stray females and they had babies. I told her I am disabled and unable to drive and asked if there was anywhere I could find some help she said no. Because I left a mean message and said I was going to put the cats in the park. So I would get a response and it worked. So I would have to pay 221$ plus 45$ for transport and I than find out they have a 50$ group fee I guess I wasnt offered that because she was mad. How dare I call and make her call me back and then only get a call so she can record me and again lie to me about how they work. THEY WILL NOT HELP ANY ANIMAL
