We recently had a lot of work done on our house outside, from replacing Masonite siding to Hardie Plank siding, replacing all our windows, installing new crawl space door, painting trim, installing new gutters and getting a new roof. Carolina Exteriors was awesome to work with! They were very efficient, always on time and the communication as excellent. I highly recommend them.

There were a few issues with subcontracted vendors, but the CE PM was professional , courteous, and managed concerns beautifully. This was nit the first work CE has done on our house, and will definitely not be the last!

Carolina Exteriors Plus completed two jobs for me. I had them reside my daughters house in Apex with HardiPlank and because they did such fantastic work I then had then re-roof and install skylights in my screened in porch. On both jobs the quality of the work was exceptional and they kept me informed every step of the way. Another thing that I really appreciated was while doing my daughters house they found they did not need to replace some areas of trim and that was taken off the final bill. Very honest and trustworthy! They will be my go-to contractor on any future work I need done.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We used Carolina Exteriors to replace our roof. That was a big mistake. The project progressed and it was completed on time. Once the project was completed, however, our fears came to pass. Carolina Exteriors absolved themselves of responsibility for leaks. Their knee jerk reaction was to disassociate themselves from their mistakes. They will show you awards from various manufacturers, but dont let that sway you. The least we wouldve expected was for them to correct their mistakes, but they didnt. Go with a company that will take pride in their work and will live up to their mistakes. Mistakes happen in every project; thats not the issue. Lying and deflecting was their post construction strategy, and that is the issue.Responding to the owners email - my home was part of a larger project. You had your chance to make things right. Were getting an engineer to objectively assess the issues.

We contracted with Carolina Exteriors for a James Hardie Full Colorplus reside and gutter replacement project. What was sold to us in December of 2020 was not what was delivered by the end of the project in June of 2021.After a total investment of $30,185, we were to receive a total siding replacement (all siding, corner boards, fascia, soffit, frieze, shingle molding) and gutter replacement on the whole house along with downspouts. You may be thinking, That is an absurd amount to pay for a siding and gutter project, and yes, you are correct. There are multiple other companies who will do the project at a cheaper price for likely better customer service. We have since discussed this with neighbors and friends and now realized we paid an outlandish price. As they say, hindsight is 20-20.We experienced three main issues while working with Carolina Exteriors, LLC.1 - Poor Communication: After initially closing the deal with a sales member (who could sell potatoes to the Irish), we began the downward trend of a lack of proper communication. The initial issue what when the project would start. After not hearing back when we were originally promised, we reached out for an estimated start date. Then came the crickets. One week before the scheduled project start date we reached out again and had to CC multiple people in the company. We were finally successful at establishing a start date of 4/13. Throughout the project, there was a myriad of miscommunication that fell on the shoulders of us as customers. Quite frankly, we felt like we could have contracted with each of their sub-contractors and gotten the job done at a cheaper and more efficient rate.2 - Speed of the Project: The project was to be completed within 20 working days. However, it was stated in the contract that working days may not be consecutive due to scheduling of various trades. That detail was a kicker. Living in a construction site from 4/13 to 6/23 was tumultuous to say the least. If one chooses to go through this company, be prepared to expect delays upon delays.3 - Completion of Original Contract Details: As mentioned, a complete siding replacement and replacement of gutters was agreed to in the original contract and paid for at the requested times. During the sales call and initial inspection, we were sure to point out areas that may be of trouble when construction began. It was assured to us by Carolina Exterior that these items could easily be remedied. It turns out they could not and we received a measly $200 refund out of $30,185 for a set of gutters and downspouts that were not replaced (leaving much to be desired for the aesthetics of the project) and a portion of soffit directly on the house.We received a request to sign a certificate of completion on 6.21.21 asking us to sign a document that stated, Customer(s) further certify that Seller has discussed completion of this project and any issues, concerns, complaints, or discrepancies with the governing Contract Document a nd/or project workmanship have been resolved to customer(s) satisfaction. We replied with our concerns and have not received any response.After believing what would be provided for the hefty price tag, we are immensely dissatisfied with the process and outcome of this project. I recommend individuals to get multiple quotes prior to conducting work with Carolina Exteriors. Their sales tactics and discrepancies with the governing contract leave much to be desired.Update - after collaboration with the owner, the remaining soffit replacement and gutter downspout replacement were finished.

Replaced old masonite siding with hardiplank and replace old gutters with new black gutters. Their quality of work was excellent as it looks like a new house. The project manager was very responsive to our needs.

We had a new roof installed by Carolina Exteriors and are very happy with it. We had just bought the house and received quotes from several different companies, but it was the process and the customer service that won us over for Carolina Exteriors. We live at the end of a cul de sac and love coming home and seeing our new roof every day! Bonus points for finishing in one day :)

We had Carolina Exteriors replace our roof, gutters, 2 exterior doors, a decent amount of siding, and do exterior painting. I am happy with the work done, but the best reason to work with Carolina Exteriors is the fact that they communicate well throughout the entire process. The contract will list in detail everything that is included, and why certain upgraded materials are recommended. Our project manager, Lewis, gave us regular updates throughout the project so we always knew when workers would be here and what work would get done. There was a considerable delay at the supplier (due to Covid-19) for one of our door/window combinations. The fact that we were kept up-to-date about status throughout the delay made it much easier to deal with. Everyone here working was polite, and the work site was cleaned up after every day of work. I would work with Carolina Exteriors again in the future.

My family and I decided to go with Carolina exteriors in March right after the covid 19 outbreak. They first came to my house and took pictures and then asked me for a date to talk about plans and prices via zoom. We did about 4 zooms as my mother and husband had different availability and they were more than happy to accommodate this! The owner even sat in the meetings as well. We were than given a date in July and from when they started to when they finished, they did great work. They crews were great and professional. It was easy to communicate with them as well.Thank you for our new siding, painting, and gutters because our house looks like new construction!!

I found Carolina Exteriors Plus (CEP) after the company I normally contract for home repairs (Baker Roofing) quoted me too high for what I needed done. CEP came back with a better offer. The work was for replacing the siding on the back of the house with Hardie plank, new gutters and a new door.Ive never had a company do a job that was perfect and CEP was no exception. From the beginning there were delays to the proposed start date and it had gotten to a point where I was willing to cancel the work since it kept getting pushed back. Communication was also another sore point. They raved that there would always be communication and I would be informed of all things all the time. I had to call, email and text to find out what the status of things were. It was really frustrating.The last issue that remained with the work was the new door not properly closing. This had to be looked at 3-4 times. I dont understand how a pre-hung door doesnt close right on a new install. To me it wasnt properly leveled but Im not an expert. The workaround that seems to be working for now was to make the hole for the bolt be lower to accommodate the sagging. It took about a month to get this fixed due to holidays and being short staffed.There was also an issue with the trim work on the inside of the house for the door. I was not informed that this trim would not be replaced with new trim. Why did they bother replacing the outside trim but not the inside? So now I have a new door with old trim work. Doesnt look as good as it should. Also the caulking for the indoor trim was not done right and I had to remove it and caulk it myself.Overall CEP will get the job done at a decent price but communication and delays are something they need to improve. I would still consider them for future projects but I would also consider others.UPDATE - Clifton, the owner, called me and left a voicemail since I was not available at the time. I called back within 30 minutes in the evening time. I left a voicemail as well as no one picked up. That was 2 weeks ago.

This is our 3rd experience with Carolina Exteriors Plus and we had our 6 month old roof / gutters / guards replaced due to Hail damage that happened in November 2019. Our experience was first class again from Clifton meeting on site to review scope of work and Lewis again being the project manager.There was only 1 minor punch out item that happened while the gutter work took place and that is being addressed this week. Its been amazing to watch this company grow so much from working with them at our first project in 2016.We wish you guys nothing but success in the future for years to come and keep doing great work for people. Having the roof replaced went very smoothly with Carolina Exteriors. The design consultant, Kevin, was very helpful in explanning the options and suggestions. Jeff over saw the project and was very communicative. Everything stayed on schedule except for a pause for weather. The crew worked extremely hard and seemed to be continously working. Always made sure things were cleaned up enough to get out overnight or fully cleaned if they were gone for weather or weekend. Everyone at Carolina Exteriors has been helpful and responsive.

Carolina Exteriors recently completed a roof replacement on my house.  They did an outstanding job in the full sense of the word; start to finish.  From the moment I contacted them to ask for an estimate everything moved smoothly.  They came and inspected the roof, provided a detailed  cost estimate with everything that they were proposing to do.  After I agreed to their proposal, the owner, Clifton Muckenfuss,  contacted me personally to lay out what the next steps would be and assigned a Project Manager, Jeff Harrison, for the job. Jeff came by the house a few days before the work was to begin and went over what I expect, which teams would be coming out to the house, pretty much every detail of what would be done , when and by whom. The project started on time, everyone was very courteous and professional, work was completed quickly, all the trash was removed and the area completely cleaned.They did an impressive job, but their customer service and the quick and thorough manner in which they dealt with any issues that arose was perhaps what I found the most satisfying of all. Carolina Exteriors not only did a great job, they stand by their work and are very quick to resolve any issue that may arise at anytime. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement or other exterior work. Im not sure what else they do, but I am certain they will provide the same level of professionalism and expertise in an thing they do.

Great job! House looks much better than itdid 27 years ago when it was built.Roofers had to come back and straighten a roof edge, but they did it with no complaints.I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for siding, roofing, and gutters.

Carolina Exteriors replaced our old Masonite siding with Hardiplank siding. They also replaced all of our windows and installed new gutters with gutter guards. The house looks great! Communication, in the beginning, was severely lacking with the production manager. He was unresponsive and that was frustrating. It improved greatly once the job started. Our project manager was onsite every day and provided daily updates. Any concerns were addressed quickly. I would and have recommended them to others.

Sounds like they do great work, but they have a $3500 minimum and the work I need done doesnt meet that. They recommended other businesses, which I appreciated.Would have loved to do business with them directly though.

Our townhome community is made up of 51 townhomes and we needed all new roofs. Over a two plus year period, our HOA spent an enormous amount of time planning for this project which was very expensive and required an assessment from all homeowners. We interviewed numerous companies but due to Carolina Exteriors reviews, awards, certifications and financial security, we chose them. We knew that after the roofs were installed, we would also need complete siding and it was our wish that the same company would do both jobs. CE told us they did not have their own roofing crews but they told us they worked with the same crews and that a Project Manager would be on the property to oversee the project. After the work started, there were numerous complaints. I don’t know if they saw us as a commercial property rather than residential but it felt that way. We knew the existing siding was in bad shape but CE’s subcontractors tore off massive amounts of siding along the roof lines. Some was necessary but certainly not to the degree it was removed. Landscaping was destroyed, hundreds and hundreds of nails were left behind, porch rails were broken and the project manager was rarely onsite. As the project moved along, we let CE know our concerns but very little changed. I personally found 85 nails left behind after the first day work was completed on my unit. I finally borrowed their magnate and starting picking them up myself. They replaced my skylights and I am still picking up glass from the old one they shattered taking it down from my roof. Yes, it was an accident but the way I found out was by walking out on my deck and getting shards of glass in my feet. I had to call THEM to come back and attempt to clean up the mess. We have had several leaks in the community. As one of the members of the board who put my trust in and chose this company, it has been a great disappointment for me personally. Based on our experience, I could never recommend Carolina Exteriors for a project this large.

We recently had new windows installed and Carolina Exteriors did an excellent job. We were very happy with Steven who answered all our questions and was very present throughout the process. The high quality windows were installed by Dave with utmost care for our home. We are extremely pleased with the results!

I got a couple of quotes for windows, and Carolina Exteriors was the lowest, and took the least amount of time and work on my part. That was only the beginning of a very good experience. The guys doing the work were polite, friendly, and understood that this was a big deal for us. They managed to put in 16 new windows in under 3 hours, and the windows look great and are doing a great job of keeping us warmer. I imagine in the summer the house will stay much cooler. Im very happy with the work done by Carolina Exteriors. They were helpful, friendly and provided quality work.

We had our vinyl siding replaces with Hardie. 95% went great, but we did have a significant issue that took a while to get resolved. Following two months of discussion with the individual that gave us the estimate, we could not come to a satisfactory resolution, and they sent us an invoice. After an email to the office explaining the open issue, the owner and I came to a quick and satisfactory resolution. Im now 100% satisfied, and willing to recommend them to others.

We had a great experience with Carolina Exteriors this past spring. We had the majority of the siding replaced on our entire house. Our project manager, Jeff, kept us up-to-date on progress and plans and was very friendly. The other staff were polite and respectful as well. The process went smoothly and I really liked using the BuilderTrend software to keep up with the project status. One slight negative is that it did take much longer than they originally estimated (and we did have good weather) but since the rest of the process went so well, that made up for it. Chad was the first person I met that helped me understand the process as well as what were my options for getting my entire siding redone and getting new gutters.Once they were able to schedule my home for the renovation they connected me with a project manager, Guy. I was very impressed with the amount of communication and oversight provided by Carolina Exteriors. Our project manager Jeff was extremely responsive and kept us up to speed and we love the finished product (siding, gutters, paint and front door). I also appreciated their use of the Buildertrend software to consolidate all of the communication, change orders and invoicing into one place.

Project manager did a good job with regular updates on the project. My project was made more difficult because of the amount of rain days that occurred. The crew did a good job of keeping the site clean and free of debris, of getting tools and equipment gathered up each day (they used my garage for staging) and making sure areas were not exposed to weather. These efforts made the delays less detrimental.

Two separate crews were very good on this home repair project, did great work and all touch up areas were taken care of quickly after walkthrough. Replaced all facia and trim molding around entire house, took down and re-hung gutters and replaced several pieces of cedar siding that were either rotted or woodpeckers got to. Would recommend for any exterior house work required and I will use them again on my next home repair / upgrade needs.

I easily give them 5 stars. They did my neighbor’s house, who highly recommended them and I wasn’t disappointed. Their crew leader, Gerardo, was extremely easy to work with and addressed my questions, immediately. I only had a partial job, some siding repair, spray paint the exterior and brush paint the trim. They did what I wanted, no hard sell to expand the job. They repaired some water damage they discovered around the gutters and also at the base of one of the corner boards, at very reasonable prices. My project manager, Lewis, visited the site everyday, inspected the work and made corrections if he wasn’t satisfied. The whole operation is very professional and worth the six weeks I had to wait to get on the schedule. I plan on using them next year for some deck repair.

This is the fourth time Carolina Exteriors has completed a project for us. I keep going back to them because I can count on quality work, and effective communication from all involved. Their integrity was made obvious in the last experience. The project manager quoted us a price for the new deck, which we thought was higher than we anticipated. A few days later he called to say he had made a math error, and the price would be considerably lower!!

My wife and I hired Carolina Exteriors Plus to replace our windows and back door. It was a small job, but CEP gave us great attention even though they likely werent making tons on the project. The work was great. We didnt even have any punch list items that needed follow up. They also did a great job about communicating with us every step of the way to make sure we knew when they were coming, when the project would start, etc. I wouldnt hesitate to use them again and would recommend them highly if you need work done at your home. Great job!

Our initial contact with Carolina Exteriors was with owner and founder Clifton Muckenfuss was fantastic. Clifton is very detailed, organized, and goal oriented and delivers an estimate that uses technology to highlight and convey a clear picture of the project. We had some issues with our scheduling and our first project manager which caused some concern, but Clifton intervened and got another PM for us and a solid start date. The install process was smooth and all aspects of communication are made through their own BuilderTrend portal. Seven months later while preparing the house for listing we completed a home inspection which identified some issues and after two weeks of back and forth emails, texts, and phone messages we were able to get our warrantied work completed. We have learned from large projects that it is best to have a third-party Home Inspector check all work prior to final walkthrough.

Im very happy with outcome of my siding project. We had the entire house updated with Hardiplank. Kevin Rose did an excellent job of managing his team of workers. Everything was done with care and attention to detail. I got several estimates from various companies and Carolina Exteriors was competitive on price as well. After this years hurricane we realized we had water infiltration at our dormer windows due to rot and that our dining room window molding also needed replacing. Carolina Exteriors was able to schedule us in a reasonable amount of time and once the project started we got daily updates and photos. At the end we wanted a tweak to the bottom of the larger window and they came out and fixed it, no problem. Lots of communication throughout. Great to work with as always!

Two years ago, Carolina team did excellent job for my siding replacement. End of last December, they replaced our roof and installed new gutter. Always impressed with their professionalism, knowledgable and cleanliness. Project manager Jeff responded quickly to our questions and communicated smoothly . I just had the absolute worse customer service experience with Carolina Exteriors Plus. In addition to poor communication, unmet deliverables and a host of other issues, the owner Clifton Muckenfuss even had the audacity to tell me he was helping me out by providing the service that his business is based on. Sir, you were going to get paid $30K for the work. Doing it for less or better yet, free. This was symbiotic. The arrogance that came across made me wonder how inclusive the company leadership is and its customer base. Already replaced with a better company with a proven history for exceeding customer expectations. Whew. The privilege...

Carolina Exteriors repaired the siding of my townhouse complex and repainted the building. They did a great job. Very professional. Clear communication. Diligent work teams. And very clean and discrete around the work site.

We had Carolina Exteriors replace all of our siding, gutters and paint the whole house. Overall we are very happy with their work. Lewis, our project manager, would stop be each day work was being done and would make sure we were happy with the work. Anything that needed to be fixed was addressed. Only part we were unhappy about was when there was rain in the forecast for late in the day, the painters kept painting until it started to rain and a bunch of paint was washed away. They did come back to repaint and clean everything up, but they should of been more aware of the forecast and not rushed to try to get it done

CE does a professional job. Good clean up and follow up. Nice to do business with!

We had wanted our siding done before October 31st Jim had told us he was very busy but he helped us achieve our goal out of the kindness in. his heart his men were all professionals and extremely helpful we are so pleased with Jims work and care for his customers we would refer him to anyone and everyone he is a man of his word!

Great remodeling experience from start to finish. New energy efficient replacement windows are already saving money on electric bills. New Certainteed Landmark shingles look great. Crews were neat and took great care in making sure our job site was clean. Highly recommend!!

We had a complete siding replacement with Carolina Exteriors this summer. We did our due diligence and got several quotes but we were most impressed with Clifton. He wasnt pushy or salesy like many of the other companies we contacted. He was patient and answered all of our questions while we were weighing our options and deciding who would be the best fit. This was a big project and we wanted to feel totally comfortable and confident in our decision. We chose correctly.Granted, there were hiccups along the way but I dont think anybody wouldve been as professional, patient, and thorough as Clifton and his team. Some things were out of their control and some were within their control but they were always responsive and respectful of our home and our concerns. There was a gentleman scheduler who was a bit condescending towards us (my husband and I said he seemed to have a chip on his shoulder) but we didnt have to directly interact with him often. Lewis, Mitch, Guy, and Clifton were all amazing and at the end of the day we wouldnt hesitate to recommend CE to do any project. They will work hard to make sure youre happy and the work is done in a way that you dont question quality.

We had all of the windows in our home replaced. The price was better than we ever expected, their whole team was great and easy to work with. Windows are great quality and our home is so quiet now! Highly recommend using Carolina Exteriors.

Rainy weather created a short delay in starting the project, but once started, it was finished in 5 days. Crew worked very hard in hot weather. Jeff, the project manager kept on top of the work, and was quick to record change orders, which either I or the crew found the need for. I am very happy with the workmanship and the results.

Did a roof and siding project with them. Clifton was easy to work with and very prompt with questions. Pricing was fair, and crews were always at the house early and answered any questions we had. So far roof and siding look great with no issues!Will be using Carolina Exteriors again.

We got three quotes for whom house re-siding (with Hardie Plank), new shutters, new chimney cap, and to re-stain our wood front door. After going over all quotes and talking which each company we chose Carolina Exteriors. Clifton was able to answer all our questions (one of us is an engineer...all the questions!) professionally and easily. This put us at ease as did the reviews and their communication app/web-site which gives day to day updates.The work started within a couple of days of the proposed date (snow/ice and rain pushed it back and we were notified with plenty of time) and it went pretty quick. The crews cleaned up every night and every evening we got updates from our PM, Lewis. All questions were answered quickly which I really appreciate. We saw Leiws was at our home at least twice a day and sent updates with photos. Again - when you cannot be home this is essential in my opinion.Our home was done at the end of the promised time which is GREAT as it has rained more than ever during the project. There were a few punch list items and they were done promptly and done well..Our home is now updated, looks like new construction, and makes us smile whenever we come home. I could not be happier with the experience and the outcome!I have already recommended them to friends neighbors and will continue to do so. They exceeded both our expectations which can be difficult as one is a right brain engineer and the other is not.Thankful we chose them and will contact them again when we want to screen in our deck!

My first two sets of casement windows were purchased through another company but I kept my project mgrs card and when I needed a third set I called Steve. Told me he was with Carolina Exteriors now but promised me I would be just as happy with them. I was. My new windows are great Best thing they ever did was recruit Steve Parisi. On time, fast work, cleaned up very well after themselves, worked to quickly address a glitch in one window. I would def recommend them for window work.

Had them install EZ Breeze windows to convert my screened-in deck to a 3-season room. There were delays in getting started due to heavy rains this winter, but everything went very well and I am very happy with the product and the service.

Just had my large roof re-shingled by Carolina Exteriors Plus. Im thoroughly satisfied with the whole job from Cliftons in-depth initial discussion and proposal, to Lewis close attention and great communication as project manager, to Phil Avilezs crews workmanship. I appreciated the modern technology that CEP uses to estimate and to track the project each step of the way. I have never seen a construction crew work harder than this crew. They literally finished the job in half the time that other roofers had estimated. Not only did they work quickly, everything that I see from fit and finish to flashing and caulking looks top notch. I highly recommend giving CEP a look for any of your exterior construction needs!Update after 2 years. Still completely satisfied with the roofing work from CEP. No problems at all and amazingly no need to call CEP back out for any nits! Just goes to show you the excellent results of doing the job right the first time! Thanks!

Great attention to detail and good communication.

We had a LOT of problems with this company and our window installations. They didnt check the windows before delivery (wrong trim color & we live in a restricted community with visibility bylaws). They damaged our walls, paint, and floor finish, left trash on site (that we had to call for them to pick up), had numerous delays, didnt return calls, didnt show up on dates/times that they promised, improperly installed windows, locks, etc. left site with windows open/unlocked or couldnt lock at night because they either hadnt put locks back on after painting or put latch/lock on wrong way! We had to have them come back to repaint numerous times, they tried to bill us several hundred extra for painting the day that they showed up with the windows (which was in the original purchase agreement,fortunately I saved all the emails), owner lost his temper & yelled at me over the phone, we had to drive over to his office/house in person in Morrisville to resolve numerous issues. About everything that could go wrong did! The only redeeming thing was that they did try to make things right so I dont feel that all of the mistakes were intentional or malicious, and Wesley was great to work with & tried very hard to pull it all off and together and some of the delays in painting were due to rain days. Definitely not worth the stress/hassle (IMHO).

Our early 1970s home was beginning to show its age as the siding and trim were rotting out in multiple places. It needed paint, but more than that the siding and trim needed replaced. I knew the good reputation of Hardiplank for durability, appearance, and adding value to the home, so I reached out to no less than 5 companies who installed Hardiplank. I received quotes, all in varying degrees of detail and clarity. Above all, Clifton at Carolina Exteriors Plus provided me the most comprehensive and detailed estimate. He came out to my house to see the proposed project, listened to what we wanted, offered some advice, and presented the estimate to us in person. I really appreciated the later point, that Clifton met us in person to go over the estimate in detail. This made a huge difference in our deciding to grant the project to them. I should mention that estimates I received from other contractors were extremely high, competitive but less detailed, or not what Id asked for.During the time leading up to the start date, I requested a number of changes be made to the estimate. That wasnt a problem at all. Carolina Exteriors communication throughout the process was clear and rapid. I was never left waiting to hear from them.The work quality of the carpenter and window casing was exemplary, particularly the former. There were some framing/sheathing issues revealed after the old siding was pulled off which may have complicated the installation of Hardiplank, but the carpenter took it in stride and seems to have lost no time in making these corrections.I should also mention their project manager, Lewis, who routinely stopped by the house to check the progress. He kept me updated on the progress of the work and, like Clifton, had excellent communication throughout.I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Carolina Exteriors Plus to anyone who needed new siding or trim. My house went from forgettable to one of the most attractive on my street. They had no high pressure sales techniques, their bid was extremely competitive, they completed the work on time, and were complete professionals.
