Called to ask if my car was there and some clown said he didnt know without trying. He told me he wasnt on shift when it came in. And that was the extent of his help. Seemed prejudicial without cause.

Always have found Chippys to be fair and very timely with service to my vehicles. I would not hesitate to recommend their business to anyone.

Wish reviews can allow you to give negative stars. This towing business is the worst. The way this business is ran is condescending purposely to Financially exploit individuals Because of the vulnerable circumstance there in. This is done purposely by the business to benefit themselves. Your probably wondering what facts do I have to make such an accusation. Well I am an individual to a situation we’re car was in an accident and unfortunately this towing business was of choice to tow the car “not my decision”.I went to the company site and site states open 24 hours. I contacted business 17 times to resolve situation and have a clear understanding to getting car transported to my town and cost of expense total. No answer. I was called next day 9:36am with only one attempt of call from business I returned call multiple times no response. I finally got a call and was told by owner stating “we do not work on weekends and since I’m in town and grabbing a bite to eat I figured to let you know so you can grab your car. I stated the site states 24 hours he said well don’t pay attention to site I am clearly not open on weekends. I explained to him well that’s condescending of your part because your customers in need of your service won’t have a clear understanding to charge of the services in the end . Especially if they can’t get in touch with you or get there cars when they want to because of the assumption your 24 hours .His exact words well that doesn’t matter because i have it posted up in the boards that it matters to be seen. Long story short looking into these reviews and I myself listening to this terrible customer service I ask all complaining to these sites contact Better business bureau. Use your resources to stop business scammers like this milking situations to exploit financially there customers.

I wish I could rate below 1 star. Terrible service. Rude, ugly, fat, messy, dirty, disgusting old man. Of course would never recommend to anyone. Place looks like a junkyard. He has a pit bull roaming around. My car was crammed less than a cm from other cars on the lot. He was rough while peeling my license plate off. The man has no customer service skills. While I was in the shop I heard him talking to an employee about how he was supposed to change a customers brakes and instead did just the rotors and was not going to inform them. I ended up paying to get it towed off his property by Frank’s because of how vile he was as a human being. If you need a tow, I highly recommend going to FRANKS in Ansonia, they have great service and prices.

I have had nothing but a positive experience with Chippys. I have had both my cars serviced there multiple times, and they always keep me updated on the progress, work with the aftermarket warranties I purchased on both of them (which is a pain to do) and are open and honest.

Unfortunately I had to deal with this person, the shop owner, by accident. My vehicle was towed there after a collision. And hopefully I will never have to see him again in my life.To begin with, the actual place is a sh**t hole. Extremely dirty, the floor so greasy, full of oil sorb (cat litter type) like somebody trow it on the floor and nobody sweep it afterwards, I saw same stuff sitting there for days.. dont even thing of going there with a good pair of shoes, they will get ruined..!When I met the owner at the shops parking area, he was very aggressive. rude, with a filthy appearance, far from being professional. A total lack of kindness, knowing that we were recently involved in an accident.It is very unfortunate, that the Ansonia PD is doing business with this individual, and consequently we are left with no options but to deal with this character.Hopefully, somebody at the PD is going to read all these reviews, and take action, like cancelling his contract, and provide us, the public, with a more professional towing service. I recommend, If possible, avoid this place. Thanks.

Their business is in an awful spot. They are the ugliest blight on Wakelee Ave and are constantly backing out in traffic. They must know somebody to be able to constantly park wherever and obstruct traffic so often.

Unfortunately towed my totalled vehicle, great service

I have had to edit this review from a 5 star to a 1 star. Warning: there is no guarantee on the quality of labor or parts when you get your car fixed here. I found out the hard way. I went to Chippy’s to have my timing belt and water pump replaced last year, and then I went back to have my fuel pump done. I was happy with their speedy turnaround and wrote a few positive reviews for them. Afterwards, I noticed a coolant leak, but I did not put two and two together. I figured it was a separate problem, and decided to park the car for a while and drive a separate vehicle for the winter. Meanwhile, I saved up to have it fixed. Last week, I took the car to a different mechanic closer to my work, and they found that the coolant leak was coming from the water pump, which I had replaced at Chippy’s about a year ago (back when they did my timing belt). I called Chippy’s and left a message. The next day they called me back and said that there was nothing they could do. They do not warrantee the parts or guarantee the quality of the labor. Then they tried to put the blame on me for not coming in sooner. Sorry, but (1) I am not made of money and needed time to save for the work, and (2) I thought I could trust that the work would have been done right the first time around. They said this situation was like driving on tires for two years and coming back and saying I didn’t like how they ride. No, it is not like that at all. They called me back after the fact and said the manufacturer would honor the water pump but I would have to pay for the labor. My final warning is if you have your car repaired at Chippy’s, make sure you keep a close eye on what happens after. Unfortunately, you can’t trust them or the quality of their work.

Possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had. Old guy hates his life(I would too if I owned that shithole) and takes it out on everybody around him. Place looks like it’s straight out of a 3rd world country. Mistaken it for a junkyard multiple times. Can’t believe the PD does business with these unsubordinates. Might have to look into that.

The owner is rude. I called the day prior asking about a tow and he had told me they were working with the police station nothing else. I called the next day and he told me they don’t tow off private property when I’m went to address that wasn’t what I was told the day before I was told “we’re not about to do this,I told you”....customer service skills are horrible. I see why many people have rated this company with low stars.

Horrible experience! The owner is rude and very unpleasant. Unprofessionally cursed me out over the phone and I would never recommend this business to anyone. The property is always very cluttered and filthy looking even inside. Steer clear!

Very Very dishonest people. Steer clear. Do not even let them touch your car. I only did so because of a emergency, and all of a sudden a simple issue turned into major issues immediately, on top of the fact that they never even resolved the original issue. These guys are thieves.
