Shear Madness made my daughter right at home. She had only been to a salon once and is a wiggle worm being 6. The stylist howver was super patient and I was able to help keep redirecting her to the tv. Afterwards we let her pick out a little stuffie and she is excited to come back again sometime!

My step daughter had temporary hair color put in. They did a good job and was very friendly.

My son isnt a fan of getting his hair cut usually, but he absolutely loved it this time! The stylist was so kind and worked with him so well. She was quick and efficient and very thorough! I will not be taking him anywhere else to get his hair cut!

Stylists were nice. Place was way over stimulating. Wall to wall toys, bows, bright colors, mirrors, tvs. I did like the variety of chairs for the kids to sit in for haircuts.

Kayla did great on my 2 year olds first haircut! She was very quick and was super good at pulling his attention to other things when he would start getting antsy! She is so good at what she does!

This is a wonderful place to go for fussy toddlers. The staff does a great job talking to my 2-year-old (one was even sweet and singing to him), who has not been a fan the half dozen times weve taken him. They work quickly and are able to do a great job despite the meltdown.I think the fun vehicles and cartoons help make it a little more tolerable for him, despite his feelings on haircuts. I also appreciate the new precautions taken with the pandemic.

My sons gone there for awhile and while its fun and accommodating for him they TOTALLY messed up his hair this last time we went, which was Thursday Feb 25, 2021. The woman there cut uneven everything on my sons hair and she kept saying she was done and I kept having to point out all the visible imperfections she left (one side longer than the other, the back wasnt even, stray hairs everywhere) and I paid $22 for it (tip included) 😫 sucks, dont think well go back.

They did an amazing job with my boys.One has sensory issues and really struggles with haircuts, they went out of there way to make it fast and help calm him down.Haircuts were fast and turned out great, even with the struggle. Would definitely recommend

I needed one of my earring holes redone because it had closed. I went to a professional piercer to do it six months earlier who screwed it up so badly, the end of the piercing was coming out of the bottom of my lobe. My sister said Shear Madness did a great job on her daughter, so once the hole had healed again, I thought what the hell.I can tell you it was 1000x better experience than the “professional piercer” place I originally went to. The gals were super nice, patient and listened to my concerns. Made sure I liked the hole where they had marked it. And did a great job. Totally quick and painless. Highly recommend!!

We took our son Asher here for his first haircut. He was terrified of course since he’s only 11 months old, but Paige did a great job despite his constant wiggling and made sure we got photos that we loved. Another woman working heard him and started blowing bubbles to cheer him up also. His hair looked great in the end and I was very pleased with how the ladies took care of him! I appreciated the patience and kindness, not to mention the awesome souvenir of before/after pic with the lock of hair. It’s too dang cute! Would definitely recommend!

I take my little bit older but still kids here and they love playing the video games. I like it because the stylists listen and do a quality job.

My husband and I brought our daughter here for her first haircut. I was anxious because I didnt know how well my daughter would handle it. She is on the autism spectrum, so anything new can be a big ordeal. Her stylist, Courtney, was wonderful. She immediately eased my anxiety because she was so patient and kind. She also did a great job on my daughters hair. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Overall I thought this was a great place to take a kid for a haircut. Our oldest that was in today was maybe just a bit old to benefit from some of the features to keep kids distracted, but for younger kids that need a distraction, you can pick between lots of different seats to sit in and games or movies to play or watch. Our younger tag alongs were entertained sitting in the firetruck chair and motorcycle. Definitely would recommend.

My 2 year old son hates haircuts with a passion, but this place is so neat and they are so nice and patient. He still cried but way less than he has ever cried before! I love the cute vehicle chairs for the kids to sit in as well as movies to watch and that there is a toy section so my son could pick something out to cheer him up after his haircut!

This is hands down the best kid salon. They provide a variety of toys the children can sit on or inside; Barbie car, motorcycle, firetruck, etc. They also have a couple salon chairs with boosters for the older kids. Each station has their own television with a selection of kid movies or an XBox to play. They are a great distraction getting your lils hair cut.

My son is turning 3 this sat and we have a fundraiser to also attend. My wife has always cut his hair. She thought it would be nice to have it done for the festivities. Needless to say she cut the bangs way to short and the sides are uneven. My wife asked about it and she said they would do better next time. No money off, no I am sorry and not even an offer to fix it now. This place is a joke. Then charged 17.00. We will never be back. Took my wife a half an hour to fix the so called professional salon job. Never again will we be in.

My husband and I took our 1 year old son and our 3 year old daughter in for first haircuts. Online the place looked really cute and fun. The Ankeny location wasn’t clean at all. Very dirty. The lady that cut the kids hair did a terrible job. We are having to take both our kids to get what she did fixed. Hair not even and long pieces all over. So disappointed that we just had to leave. The lady that cut our kids hair was not dressed appropriately either! Very disappointed!

Walk-in appointment, so that was convenient. Only one person in the whole place, so our experience was interrupted multiple times by the stylist having to respond to people walking in or calling. That was frustrating since it was my childs first haircut .Stylist was nice, and tried to make my child comfortable in the situation.Price was okay.

Kat does such a wonderful job with my little boy! He is a wild man and she just gets through it - I do not know how she does it but Im thankful for her!

My husband and I brought our son to Shear Madness today and the second his bottom hit that seat, he wasn’t having it! The stylist (didn’t catch her name!) was great the entire time our son screamed and squirmed. It may be awhile (everyone was slightly traumatized) but we will definitely be back! Thanks for not making us feel out of place and doing everything you could to make our son happy.

After paying nearly $200 for a Diva party we were very disappointed! The girls put on their robes and they were damp. The staff was unfriendly, rude and did not engage with the girls. When doing their hair, they had chunks of hair hanging out of the braids and 2 that fell out completely before we arrived home. The party was to be 90 minutes and the girls were ready to leave before an hour. The employees sat in the back for the room talking and laughing (I have pictures of this) while I attempted to entertain the girls with karaoke. Very unsatisfying and will never be back!! Waste of time and money!!

Just brought my daughter here for her first haircut. It went over pretty well, the entrance is jam packed with kids merchandise so there isnt much waiting room. I can onky imagine how crazy it gets when its super busy.

Ankeny location is terrible! We have been their twice and each time I have had to go home and fix my sons haircut. The first time my husband brought our son their he had huge areas of missed hair that was not cut to begin with. The second time we went I had to request them to go back over his hair cut. They refused to wet his hair down before cutting it even though he had some areas of bed head. His hair line around his ears are cut super high in the back and hit his ears in the front. This place has no clue how to cut hair. The women who cut my sons hair was getting upset my son would not sit still while cutting his hair. DO NOT go to this location!! We have had great experience at WDM location.

I am very disappointed in the hair stylist and my daughters hair cut. My daughter is FOUR years old, the hair stylist was rude. She kept getting mad at her because she kept trying to look at the t.v. instead of down. And my daughters bangs are not straight. And for the price I paid for this haircut she should have been treated like a Princess and not treated like a brat or a burden and that is how the hair stylist treated her! I will never bring her back. I was told when I called a haircut included a bang trim and I got charged for a bang trim and a hair cut! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Kids love it and they always get a free wristband after their haircut. Be aware there is a little toy shop in there as well, so if you have a hard time saying no, youll likely walk out with a kid with a cute haircut and a slightly overpriced toy.
