I had a fabulous time with Johnny! I’ve been fly fishing for a while but never understood the mechanics of casting. Johnny was patient with me and by the end of the lesson I had improved dramatically.We went to a small local river which was perfect for learning, so we spent all our time on the water learning and practicing. I would recommend learning from Johnny highly!

Fantastic experience. New to the sport and I am hooked. John is exceedingly knowledgeable and a great teacher. Started from assembling the rod and tying flies and was casting by the end of our morning together. He is a great ambassador for the sport. Highly recommended for new and aspiring fly fishermen.

Cant say enough about my 2 grandsons (6 and 9) experience with John. He was SO patient, fun and skilled at teaching them the proper skills needed to truly enjoy the sport of fishing. I would highly recommend him to anyone...any age !

My wife and I and our adult son had our first ever fishing lesson with John. What an excellent choice. John is patient and thorough with his instructions, yet still quickly got each of us casting on our own. We loved that he provided everything from rods to bait for this first lesson. Then John gave reviews of what equipment and where to buy for ourselves. We even caught 3 or 4 fish each, which made for a great afternoon of fishing.

This was such a fun experience for my twin 5 year old boys! John took us to a quiet lake since our boys were new to the water and put us on the fish within 20 minutes. His skill as a fisherman is unmatched and he also had us laughing the entire time. The look on our kids eyes when they landed a fish made the entire trip worthwhile. Fun, affordable and a great day on the water!

My dad (61) and I (27) have been fishing together our whole lives, but have never gotten the chance to fly fish together, due to lack of know how. I searched fly fishing lessons and up popped John.We went out in Andover on Aug 28th for our first fly fishing lesson and man did we both enjoy it. John is patient, kind, and most importantly a great teacher. He knew the small adjustments I needed to make in order for me to understand how to improve. To give an example of how great my experience was, I literally went home and bought the gear I need to start getting out there myself. While I am not a pro fly fisherman, by any means, John has provided me with the proper background to practice and strive for perfection in this new hobby of mine.Really excellent, an easy 5/5.

John was a great teacher and took the time to explain everything in my tackle box, how to use them, and different techniques of casting and knots. Great experience.

John did an excellent job with my two sons and I. Showed us some great spots around Andover, brought everything needed and took us through all parts of the process. Felt like we only scratched the surface of what he knows. He was fantastic with my boys and kept them engaged and happy despite only catching a couple fish. Didn’t hurry us, and was very easy to work with. Highly recommended!

Great experience! I am a complete beginner, John explained things step by step to me and my father. We both had a great time, highly recommend him he can help complete beginners to experienced fishers. I am looking forward to booking my next lesson.

My son had a blast learning to fish....such a good service for a mom that doesn’t know anything about joining bait or unhooking the fish. He caught 4 fish and had a blast. I would totally recommend. So much fun. Thank you!!!

We had a blast learning how to fly fish with John. He was very thorough in explaining the equipment and casts, and very observant and patient with us. Must have cast the line about 1000 times for practice. John also brought a very friendly, lighthearted, and positive attitude to the lesson that made the whole experience very enjoyable.

My boys had a blast learning to fish with John. They want more lessons this Summer! He is very knowledgable and professional and is able to walk you through the fishing process quite well. They learned proper line tying technique, baiting a hook, releasing their lines and reeling in their catches. This process really helps eye hand coordination as well as fine motor skills. Best part of the experience though is immeasurable and that is being out In nature and family bonding time.

So much fun! My boys and I had a blast and learned so much in a short amount of time. We can’t wait to fish again. 😁

John took me and my wife out for the day. We caught some bait fish and then some huge stripers! He was very knowledgeable about the waters we were fishing in. My wife learned how to tie a knot so tight we couldnt lose a fish. Thanks for the great day!!!!

Great experience taking lessons with John. If you are a beginner like myself or an experienced fisherman/fisherwoman looking to learn some new techniques, I highly recommend taking some lessons with him. Great range/depth of fishing knowledge paired with a positive and patient teaching style made the lessons highly enjoyable. I took two lessons, and am sure I only learned a fraction of what he knows. Some of the things he taught me were how to tie fishing knots, how to bait my hook, different casting techniques, different types of tackle, how to untangle my line if it gets caught, how to find where the fish are most likely to be, how to clean your catch, and even some cooking recommendations! Being new to the sport (and a woman) can be a little intimidating but John instantly made me feel comfortable with being a novice, which helps so you can concentrate on the lesson and worry less about failing or messing up. We also caught some fish, some of which I could keep and cook for dinner, which was very exciting and satisfying. John is passionate about both fresh and salt water fishing and it shows through his work. I can’t wait to take more lessons and learn more types of fishing. This is hands down the best investment I have made since starting to fish.

John took care of everything, I just walked onto the boat and he had me all set up and ready to fish. I caught 2 of the biggest bass Ive ever seen. He knew right where to go and which baits to use. Thank you!!!

My kids were spending a lot off time online. I wanted these kids to learn something that put them out in nature now they have a skill they can enjoy throughout their lifetime and maybe their kids.
