I just got off the phone with Ella Santos whos customer service was outstanding. I was remiss in updating my cc on file for auto pay, missed getting trash picked up (yikes!) and she was lovely & kind to deal with! She took my payment and helped update my account. Yay! 5 out of 5 stars for stellar customer service! Thanks Ella!

Weve had construction on our street for several weeks and the truck drivers have gone out of their way to make sure our service hasnt been interrupted when possible. Today they were unable to safely make it up our street. When I called to see what options we had Connor went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience. He is going to follow up with us at a later date as well! Very pleased with Alaska Waste-Eagle River.

Been w/ this company 15 yrs & will definitely STAY w/ them! When I call I get immediate help/solutions (even when behind on my bill), they’ve been able to help me w/ everything from a big 8 yrd dumpster down to a small roll cart AND have even apologized for not pick’n up my trash when it was TOTALLY my fault!!

Wow! Amazing customer service!We had 3 brown bears topple our dumpster, making a giant mess in the process. One phone call to Kevin Manson, at Alaska Waste, and the dumpster was righted and the crew even cleaned up the mess the bears made. I was thinking I would to have to wait to even have my call answered. Kevin and the team far exceeded my expectations. There was a time that out of the blue, they couldn’t accept MasterCard. The guy who answered my call said that there was something wrong with the contract or something. That guy also had no problem informing me that if I didn’t pay that day then I was going to get a late fee. I explained that I was trying to pay online.You would think that a company like them would find a way to help a customer out especially since it was their fault. I also explained that I wouldn’t be able to go pay in person that day- they didn’t care. I asked what my options were then if they can’t accept my card. He replied with go get cash and pay in person or write a check and then snail mail it. I told him that either option wasn’t going to work for me. That if this is how they were going to be, then I’ll have to go somewhere else that can accept MC. He was like ok. They obviously don’t care for the customer.I’ve made a complaint- once even at a job fair- they took my info and assured me someone would get back with me. Think it’s ever happened?? Nope.The other day, their driver was in our cul-de-sac picking up my neighbor’s trash. Without getting into all the details, it came down to that my husband’s truck was barely in the way for the trash driver. He wanted us to move it. Which normally wouldn’t be an issue but since we had our truck stolen before, we now use that steering wheel lock (different key from the truck’s). It took us literally 3 mins to find it. He was sitting in the truck huffing and puffing and letting the neighbors know how he going to report this etc.If he was such in a hurry, all he had to do is actually get up off the seat and move the trash bin that was “blocking” him from being able to reverse. He literally could’ve pulled back into that driveway and gone the same way he came by. Especially since there were no more trash bins he needed to grab where my truck was in the way.Literally the day before, Blue Arctic waste were able to get through the same exact path. Maybe they have smaller trucks, idk.Anyways APD comes by a week later and tickets everyone for parking in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Thanks for coming into our neighborhood and sorry your driver lost less than 10 mins of his time.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They take forever to answer the phone and seem to never come to a solution. I have had multiple issues with this company not picking up my trash when it is out out at the correct time and right next to the road. They take absolutely no time to help the customer.

Our church has used Alaska Waste to handle our trash collection for many years. Service has always been reliable and as scheduled. We were recently approached to swap out our basic green dumpster for a fun, custom painted one, and we gladly accepted. The sales account manager also audited our usage and was able to adjust our billing to help us save on costs. Thanks Brad!

Normally I would wait to be a customer to write a review, but unfortunately it seems impossible to get service connected. Over one week ago I contacted them and submitted a request for service. I was sent an email with a form and submitted it back. Since then I have had no contact with this company. I had to call customer service to ask about it, and was told to resubmit the form. I did so and still no contact. I move into my new home on Monday, and am assuming that I will not have trash services in place. So this has been a less than pleasant experience for me to say the least. Alaska Waste Im not impressed at all with the customer service you provide.

There are few things worse for an adult male to experience than hearing the trashman and remembering you forgot to put the trash out at 7:30am. So i called them this morning and they are going to do a courtesy pickup for me today. I also accidentally paid my bill and had autopay setup so i called this morning around 8:45. Within minutes a very nice lady scheduled a courtesy pickup at No charge and put me in for a credit to my account. Wonderful customer service...wish AK USA had the same level of service!

One of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with in regards to customer service. My husband and I moved and wanted our services to end. We contacted Alaska waste six times via phone and email and have not received a single response. We set our garbage bin out to be picked up when we left the state at the specific time they asked us to- we then got emailed a reoccurring bill for not placing our garbage bin out when we clearly did. We then contacted Alaska waste multiple times, finally got ahold of a lady, and she then hung up on us. This company is impossible to get in contact with. Would not recommend to anyone.

Moving to Eagle River and attempted to set up service with them. There is one customer service number to call. I attempted four times to call them and each time I was placed on hold for 45-60 minutes only to be told to leave a message and they would return my call. They never did. If this is a representation of how their residential garbage service is I want nothing to do with them. I was able to find another business that answered my call on the first attempt and had my account established in less than 5 minutes. Good luck if you choose to go with them, there are other options to choose from.

It is really bad when you live on JBER and you follow the regulations about recycling and today I find a slip saying I had too much recycling in my bin. I really wish the management chain of command people would understand that waiting two weeks to get your recycling dumped, is too long of a wait. The common sense person would say if the trash can be picked up once a week then why doesn’t the recycling be picked up once a week. Let the recycling people listen to the people who live on JBER before you start issuing out tickets ! And for those items it at the recycling people leave on the grounds in JBER neighborhoods the recycling people need to take it in consideration that there are family members, children, disabled people who can easily trip and fall and hurt them self. I don’t believe that the recycling people would like to have a lawsuit placed on them because of one of their recycling people put the items out that caused a hazard. Let’s work together as a team.

I moved into the four season apt homes, and i emailed Alaska Waste twice for a quote and did NOT get a email back. I called their number and was on hold for 25 minutes in the afternoon time only to have NO ONE answer the phone. I then emailed the second time and NO response so i gave up and went with a different waste company. Absolutely terrible service.

I wanted to comment about the phone issue at Alaska Waste in Anchorage. I too called multiple times to be on hold for 20-30 minuets just to be disconnected. It has been happening for the last 2 months and can get frustrating.

I called and waited for 28 minutes only to be hung up on multiple times. Update: I tried again on Monday waited 30 minutes and got hung up on without them saying a single word.

I was really happy when Alaska Waste introduced curbside recycling several years back. We were sorting, storing, and then hauling our own recyclables before that and though I was willing to go to the trouble, it was definitely inconvenient. We truly appreciate the ease of curbside!Next, I would LOVE to see the new organics collection program expanded. I know they are still just testing it out, but it makes so much sense and speaks to my values, and I would really like to do my part to help with local conservation efforts.Thanks to Alaska Waste for the great new ideas and for the great service! Heres to keeping Alaska cleaner and greener. :)

I had service from Alaska Waste for nearly four years in apartment units in Anchorage and the service was always timely, efficient, and reliable. They also go way beyond garbage pickup and do a great job at educating the community on ways to reduce/reuse/recycle!

While Ive been favorably impressed by the drivers and the receptionist I was finally able to contact (after 3 calls and 1-1/2 hours on hold) I must say that if there is any worse customer service on the planet Ive yet to experience it...

I just love my trash service with Alaska Waste! I live out here in Wasilla and the drivers are always so efficient. The girls in the office out here are amazing! Overall, great service:-)

When I first got service set up out in Wasilla everything was good. But in recent weeks I’ve been noticing a decline in what I’m paying for. I was told at sign-up that I was to put my trash can out on Tuesday night, as pickup was early Wednesday morning for my area - I have not had my trash picked up in the last 4 weeks.I also tried to pay my bill online, and that was another whole raft of issues. Their online bill portal doesn’t work on Chrome, Explorer, or mobile (Safari). I called to pay over the phone and got a recording that they weren’t open yet. Fair enough. But when I called the office after business hours began, none of my calls went through!Look at all these google reviews. They’re all either 1-star or 5-star, only one or two in between. No group of people this large is this polarizing; it’s clear that AW employees boost their rating for a better online presence. I don’t have access to a pickup truck right now, but I’m moving up my timetable for trading my car in just so I can haul my own trash from now on.

Above and beyond customer service! Got a call from them during the recent cold snap. The driver on our route noticed our garage door had been left open. Their office called and left me a message. Turned out it was the tenant in our condo. Frozen pipes are expensive!!! Thanks so much for being community minded!

If it were up to me, I would not AK Waste. The driver ultimately makes the call on whether he picks the trash up or not. I’ve watched him pass up trash for no good reason, perhaps he did not want to get out of the truck.

I left a bag of grass clippings at the end of my drive very early Wed AM with our pickup day Wed. I was going out of town & didn’t want to leave my trash can at the end of the drive. The bag was NOT picked up & neighbors complained. I called company & was told they can ONLY pick up trash IF the can is there. They can’t throw a bag into their truck. What kind of service is this? They charge extra fir each bag outside the trash can but say they load them into the trash can to load into truck!!!!

I have had service at my home for 7 years now and never had an issue. Both of the drivers that pickup in my neighborhood do a great job and are very friendly. On the few occasions that I have contacted the office (broken/missing garbage can, service changes, furniture pickup, etc.) the reps have been quick and professional in resolving my issue.

The first 4 yrs that we were back in Anchorage, our waste collector was named Joel and he was the Best. Friendly and kind, Joel was a friend. Then one day, there was a new person on the truck and we all thought Joel was on vacation or had retired. If Joel still works there, Please tell him that we all miss him and wish him well and that he is fondly remembered in our neighborhood!! jk

ALASKA WASTE IS THE BEST! Im from Arizona so I dont really have my snow feet about me. However, the drivers always help myself and our elderly neighbors take their trash cans back to their homes from the driveway. A GIANT THANK YOU to Matt, Andy and Adam! I am happy with the service. I find AK Waste Customer Service responsive. I have occasion to email them 2 to 4 times a year, they get right back with me either my email and phone. Once they did not pickup my garbage, but it was my fault for have the bin way over loaded with loose material. But even then, they were accommodating. They are a great improvement over the last ownership.

I have had services in Anchorage for over 15 years. Customer service has always been polite & helpful. They show up as expected. When I went to a smaller can service, the cans were swapped out earlier than stated. I can even use my online acccount if I need something or have questions. Prompt response. Very happy with my service!!

Couldnt make it into my neighborhood to pick up trash due to bad weather. No problem - BUT they refuse to come back until NEXT WEEK. Didnt tell anyone - we had to call. Nothing like having 2 weeks worth of stinky garbage in your garage at Christmas time!

I came back from work only to find out my trash didn’t get picked up everything was good no trash out of bag it wasn’t overflowing so there was no reason to not get picked up I was so frustrated so I call them and the most nicest and understanding person helped me out his name was Aaron and if I where his boss I would give him a raise he understood my frustration and took care of the problem and the trash was picked up immediately best experience ever had with Alaska waste thank you Aaron

Didnt pay my bill but that is because it didnt;t arrive. Not surprised with postal system. But, also did not get late notice... Now I am a bit incredulous. Called and payed. They said they would not charge me extra next week if I have extra bags. Nothing spectacular in the customer service. Just doing the basics. Saw some people complaining about cost. Its $54 for a quarter. Not that outrageous.

We live on street that often gets icy and prevents the trucks from safely picking up the trash. I understand this, however, we still get charged unless we call in each week, sit on hold for 10-15 minutes and request a credit. If you dont waste your time doing this, Alaska Waste takes your money and doesnt say a thing. I have spent a decent amount of time with management requesting that they self audit so I dont have to waste my time... they said they have too many customers and dont have the technology. Very frustrating and unethical.

I still pay for there services because I dont think there is any competition on lower hillside. They straight up ripped my mailbox off with there truck, And drove over it on trash morning. I complained and they performed a investigation and said it was not them... complete bs...

Worst company ever!!! Don’t call on a Friday at closing time because u will be told whatever you want to hear apparently. I was told as long as I Call in Monday morning after making my payment my service would be taken care of that day still. Now they are telling me they won’t service it until next week. Also that nobody would tell me that...apparently calling me a liar is ok. They take advantage of the fact of being only curbside trash removal...sorry I would rather the extra hassle of transporting my own trash before giving these people another dime of my money.

In 2011, this company mandated that we get rid of our regular trash cans and either rent a cart from them or buy one that could be dumped automatically by their trucks. At the same time, they raised our rate. I purchased a 96-gallon cart for $75 at a big box store, which is of better quality than theirs, and doesnt have their logo plastered on the side. This saved me about $30/year, since I wasnt renting their can. Last week, they sent me a letter informing me that customer-owned carts are no longer allowed. I called customer service, waited over 30 minutes, asked why the change, and was told that the Regulatory Commission of AK is making them do this. I checked with RCA, and it turns out Alaska Waste has proposed the change, and that the public can comment until 7/15/2016. I filed a comment on the RCA website, explaining my situation, and hope the RCA will do their job. I just dont understand why this company fleeces people who have done nothing worse than being reliable customers for years and paying 100% on time every month. I would give them no stars if I could.

Alaska Waste is an awesome community orientated organization. We were so happy to have Alaska Waste join us again as sponsors and participants in our 20th Anniversary Season of Giving fundraising event. We couldnt have so many community programs for Alaskans in need without community sponsors like Alaska Waste!

Your drivers are great at my location, but we have other service locations that they are either on=call or regular pick-up and they choose when they want to do that. Theyve raised our rates saying we have to use their trash cans which we still have not received. But being charged for. Not happy at all with their customer service overtime we call Im on hold at least 30 minutes. They have a monopoly so nothing will be done about any of these complaints. Really need another trash company in Anchorage.

I have always had excellent service from Alaska Waste. Enter Alaska USA who paid my bill through Bill Pay so woefully late that my service was cancelled. I spoke with the bank and they offered to do an investigation on their end, but I appealed to Alaska Waste and they agreed to waive the late fee, AND rescheduled my garbage pick up for the next day. Naomi Wingate and her supervisor at Alaska Waste demonstrated what customer service should always look like. It was a troublesome few hours but Im now signed up for auto pay and I have cut out the middleman. Thank you, Alaska Waste for your help.

Alaska Waste has a big heart! Our neighborhood is working with Paint the Town to help repaint the home of a neighbor in need. Alaska Waste stepped forward by donating a dumpster for use in clean up around the home. We also have experience with Alaska Waste for our business. THEY ROCK!!!

Never had a problem! I pay a low rate for trash pickup in my neighborhood and when I signed up, promptly received my bin. Recently had been missed in trash day pickup and called customer service who sent a truck the next day. Customer service was polite and solved my problem.

This business doesnt seem to know what customer service is..a person waiting more than 10 minutes?? Really??? Actually, I would not have given a star but the program insisted in order to complete.

Wish I could leave zero stars. Terrible customer service, BS fees added without warning, took our trashcan for non-payment when we are setup on auto-pay and had zero balance due. Their mistake, yet charged us over $50 in fees to bring our can back out.

In addition to having garbage service in various areas around Anchorage for the past few years, Ive also had commercial and rolloff service as well (i.e. gotten dumpsters delivered to my properties), generally for remodeling and the like. Although I never demand it, service is always same day unless I call at the end of the business day, and the pickup and dropoff is always prompt, with the drivers being well-trained to navigate the roads. Not to disparage other utilities, but its rare to see such consistently good service and attention to detail. Kudos!

If there was any other option I would use it. The trash service itself is great! But dealing with customer service and their billing issues is a nightmare. I have been told there is no auto pay option, call back and then they tell me of course there is let’s get this set up. I call back again and they tell me auto pay was never set up... this has been going on for 3 years. I have paid for an entire year upfront just to not deal with it. If you do that, be warned they don’t know how much it will cost and you might be under paying.

Worst customer service and experience Ive had dealing with a dumpster company. Spent hours talking on the phone with them to try and get a dumpster, and finally I told them to cancel the order. But then the next day they still dropped a dumpster off. Use anyone else besides these guys...

Terminating service with this pathetic company. We live on the Upper Hillside where winds are frequently 50-100 kts, including today. Tipper carts blow over and spill their contents throughout the neighborhood on such days. When I called this company in December 2017, they advised me to put my trash out in a plastic bag on such windy days. But when I called today to verify that they would pick up my trash in a bag, they told me (after making me wait) that they needed me to go home again and put out my tipper cart instead. So, not only are they incapable of getting their story straight, but they are basically telling their customers to trash the neighborhood every week. No more -- I will haul my own trash and save over $220/year.

The good (I know, strange for a 1 star rating): Customer service people are kind and helpful if you call and wait. For the most part garbage service works and for the most part I guess that is what one wants.I give Alaska Waste one star, however, because as an organization they are dishonest, at least in my opinion. Our recycling service was canceled for the day a month or so because, they said, the roads were bad. Fascinating as we have never had problems with pickup due to bad roads. More fascinating is the roads were the best of the year. I was driving up and down the hill in my old pickup in rear wheel drive without a problem. The emailed us and told us we could put out extra recycling two weeks later - like we just have all the extra room. No refund or anything - of course not. We still had to pay but they did not have to do their job. Over the years we have had garbage or recycling simply skipped. Once our neighbors was picked up on ours was not (ours was the second one out so we were not late). No refund and I made the mistake of emailing - too easy for this terrible company to ignore me.We are in a high wind area. Sometimes garbage or recycling gets blown over. Sorry - no service... sometimes. Sometimes the driver will right the container and pick it up. They provide the containers. Not sure what we can do but I sure have fond memories of our first garbage pick up service here in Alaska. Those guys sometimes even picked up the little stuff that got spread out - way above and beyond.And, their recycling. Turns out they only recycle about half of what can be recycled if you take it down to the Dowling recycling center. Everything else gets tossed as I understand it. They sure did not make that little tidbit known to us when we got the service when they first started recycling collection. I guess its on their website somewhere but I did not see it when I signed up.I sure wish there was competition or another company took over. It took some time but I have really grown to dislike this company. I am extremely loyal to companies that treat my family well. We dont care if we pay more. We have USAA for insurance, for example. They have treated us so well we have no idea at all how their prices compare. On the other side are companies like Alaska Waste for whoom I will go out of my way to let others know how bad they are. Too bad that there is no other option and they can pretty much do what they want.

I have needed to contact customer service only a couple of times when my credit card number has changed and each time my call was answered within a minute or so and customer service rep was polite and efficient. I have no issues with pickup service or customer service, though price is a bit higher than I think it should be.

They do remove the trash as they are supposed to do, however customer service is terrible. Usual wait time on the phone is about 4-5 minutes. After calling twice, emailing and even upon creation of the account had provided an email address and billing address for the receipts, the company I work for still has no receipts to bill back the customer...
