Shirley Nelson, Blue Sky Reading, is a wonderful tutor and teacher!Our child enjoys spending time working on phonics and reading skills with Shirley, and has made a lot of progress. She makes learning fun and keeps things moving during the session with games, books, flash cards, worksheets, etc. She helps our child complete homework, too. Shirley’s reading studio is a comfortable, studious environment that is conveniently located in midtown.Shirley is a retired teacher with more than 30 years of experience. She is also an active member in the Anchorage community and serves on boards for organizations like Rotary, the Municipality, etc. We are lucky to have someone of her experience and expertise giving one-on-one instruction to our kiddo twice a week.If your child is getting behind or struggling at school, I highly recommend meeting Shirley and learning more about her tutoring services!

My daughter went to see Shirley for 3rd grade when she started struggling with homework. She immediately fell in love with Shirley! Shirley is so great with her students of various ages and grades. She is patient and has a way connecting with students to keep them engaged and on task. My daughter saw her grades increase through the school year and her teacher really noticed the difference.
