I have an entry-level sewing machine purchased from Riehl more than 15 years ago. Its been with me through multiple moves and now lives on a converter in my new home in Europe. A whim on a recent visit to Anchorage (and the very hazardous Quilted Raven) got me interested in doing some other types of sewing, so we dropped in to Riehl to ask if there was a specialty foot for my old machine. The cheerful employee knew my model (discontinued in 2004) immediately and gave me a rundown of my options, including a recommendation to match my experience level (hint: it wasnt for the most expensive option in the store). She also gave me some helpful tips for a beginner. This is the difference made by having a local specialist with people who really know their stuff!
