CH2M HILL is a company that is single handily is killing the businesses in the United States. This company purchased the majority of the Oil & Gas Service Company,VECO Corps. After purchasing of VECO Corp, the Upper Management levels of CH2M HILL started to reshuffle staff members so to incorporate a new business purchase and an industry they knew nothing about; looking over their past history since their purchase of VECO, notice how often they restructured the business sectors and moved upper staff members around. CH2M HILL is a company they have lobbyist in Washington DC to keeps is Government contracts coming there way. In fact, shortly after the purchase of VECO Corp, this company sent out mailer to the VECO employees requesting support donations to assist in supporting the lobbyist in Washington DC. Please note, this was requested on a voluntary basis only; however, it does indicate how dependent this company is on Government contracts. Also, CH2M Hill is an Engineering Firm very accustomed to cost reimbursable Government Contracts that require little to no risk is now trying to complete in a competitive oil & gas construction environment, such as: lump sum and firm fixed pricing contracts. So, with CH2M Hills philosophy of hiring college educated to fit any position regardless of experience, they decided to replace the VECO employees with college grads, nothing wrong with this move, however, they lacked the knowledge for the positions. Example: CH2M Hill would move employees from there poorly run government construction groups over into the Oil & Gas construction group as managers. First of all, these managers could not manger the Commercial Government construction projects and now we are moving them into the Oil & Gas sector, WOW.Also, approximately three to four years after they purchased VECO, a note was sent out requesting why the Alaska CH2M Hill oil & gas group is not as profitable now as it was prior to the purchase date. Well, lets review what occurred, CH2M Hill tries to run the construction entities like the engineering entities, multiple levels of staff, 6 staff members for every 1 worker. In addition, when you use a Government operating philosophy and place it in an Oil & Gas environment, its like mixing oil & water together. But hey, they have highly educated people working in the a lot of positions with out any experience.Just recently, they tries to sell the Oil & Gas Sector it owns for what I heard was $300mm, well I believed they purchased VECO for somewhere around $400mm and then sold off or shut down some of the assets they had.So, they do need to sell and get out of the oil & gas sector; this is not part of their Corporate make up and they need to keep to the Water Waste Industry. If they would stay within their expertise, Americans would keep there jobs.
