Someone FINALLY understood my childs struggles! I was so happy with how caring and invested they were to help my child succeed. Positive and knowledgeable assessment, then encouraging, caring tutors and staff in clean, bright office centers made for a great experience. Option to tutor online is helpful to any busy moms schedule. I highly recommend.

Dyslexia Center of Utah, has been life changing for our little girl. She has always walked her own path....and is amazing, in so many different ways. She has always struggled with, reading and numbers. Every year, I knew I would get that call from her teacher. A dear friend, suggested that we look into Dyslexia Center of Utah. Everything about this center is great. The owner is delightful, and our tutor is incredible. My daughter, loves her time with Mrs. Liz. We have seen so many positive changes, and a huge sense of relief. Questions, finally got answered, and support has been given on every level. We are so THANKFUL for this center!!

Shelley Hatch and the Dyslexia Center is a game changer. I’ve known Shelly for 20 years. She has tutored my 7 kids and is now starting to tutor my grandkids. I was constantly in parent teacher conferences and always stressed about my kids in school because they were always behind. If it wasn’t for Shelley my kids would not have graduated!!! This program helps kids to feel confident and have success in school and life.Shelley is one in a million and words cannot express the gratitude and love I have for her and this program.

For years my son struggled with reading and had a difficult time keeping up in class. We tried reading through colored plastic sheets and several other tutors, but Dyslexia Center of Utah was just what he needed. After he started working with the tutor, things immediately began to improve. He entered junior high and high school and did much better. He was also able to learn the strategies he needed to attend college and just graduated. He is doing great and is actively employed as a computer programmer. Thanks for the advice, the early intervention and helping us get him the help he needed early enough to make a difference. The DCU made the problem manageable.

If I could give this center 10 STARS ⭐️ I would! From the moment we walked into the Dyslexia Center of Utah we KNEW we were in the right place. Shelley, the director, is incredibly knowledgeable, understanding, patient, sympathetic and does a fabulous job paring your child up with an instructor that will meet their needs. For the past two years I have been tutoring our 10 year old son (since I have a background in education and have taught elementary school for 15 years & have a Masters in Special Education & Curriculum/Instruction.) I thought I could do the job. However, I have discovered that our son has made more progress and has gained more confidence in the past few months than he did in the two years I tutored him. It is humbling and yet thrilling all at the same time. He is excited 😊 to go to the center to work with Ms. Hollie and the amount of learning that is taking place is PRICELESS. Ms. Hollie has been a game changer, I wish we would have found her and this center 3 years ago. If you are looking for help for someone you care about that struggles with Dyslexia, look no further...this is the place! 😊

The Dyslexia Center of Utah has blessed our lives. Shelley and her team of tutors have helped my sons develop and improve their reading and handwriting skills. All of the tutors we have worked with have ALWAYS been very professional and devoted time to helping my sons develop better reading skills. I first met Shelley almost 10 years ago. My oldest son was in second grade and was struggling in school. Being a school teacher I thought I could help him fill in the gaps, however, what he needed was a different approach to reading. Shelley and her tutors know exactly how to help each student. They also helped me better understand his needs so he could succeed in school. He is now a Senior in high school with a 3.96 GPA. He loves to read and has been accepted to every College and University he has applied to. I know this wouldnt have been possible without the skills and help DCU offers. Shelley and all the tutors are amazing at understanding how to help each student and helping to build their confidence. Thank you DCU for making such a difference in our lives.

A Physics Major, Author and Veracious Reader11 years ago, my daughter was a typical 4th grader who struggled with all things language arts. Spelling was a nightmare for her, reading groups where humiliating, and even math was upsetting. She didn’t understand how all of her friends could memorize words and times tables so easily and she could not. She tells of how eye-opening her initial assessment with Shelly Hatch was. Understanding her dyslexia was the turning point for her. With tutoring and hard work she found her learning style, and found her academic confidence. That confidence opened up a world of possibilities for her. She began reading books, one after another, writing short stories and authoring complete books. With this confidence she discovered her incredible aptitude for math and science, and, with the encouragement of some very special mentors, she followed that passion to the top of her class in a university physics department, event to the point of tutoring others in math and physics. That confidence is the greatest benefit of Shelly’s system, which is now embodied at the Dyslexia Center of Utah. It is that self-understanding and self-confidence that allowed my daughter to reach beyond the limiting factors of her learning disability and environment to discover outlets for her creativity and incredible intelligence.William

I cant begin to describe the miracle this center has been in our families lives. We have two children with dyslexia that are complete opposites of each other and have totally different needs and both have benefited tremendously from the teaching they received here. The people are warm and fun loving and extremely good at what they do. My older son began tutoring in fifth grade and went for two years. He is 17 now and a Junior in High School. When he started, he read at a pre K level and had seriously issues with self worth and his abilities. It wasnt long before he was reading on grade level but we continued with the tutoring all the way through till the end of their program just to give him every advantage we could. Now he is extremely successful in High School, even taking AP classes and getting As. He even had the courage to take French the last two years and is loving that. He also participates in many, many other activities and is brave and confidant. He thinks it is awesome to have dyslexia and loves all the abilities it gives him as by products, like his incredible inventive abilities and how resilient it has helped him become. The other day we were talking and I said to him, You know, some people dont like having dyslexia and he kind of laughed and said I dont know why not...Its awesome! I could never have gotten him to that point without Shelleys help and the help of all his Awesome tutors! When my younger son started to try to read and couldnt we knew exactly what to do and he started tutoring in Kindergarten. He could hear but couldnt even process or differentiate between any sounds. Shelley began him on a program many levels below where her usual students start and he worked all through that and is on level 5 of their normal program now. He is now in 6th grade and reads on a 6th grade level at 134 words per minute with 99% comprehension. Youve never seen such a smile as the day he brought that paper home! He is so proud of himself. He says that reading used to be a struggle for him but he has grown out of it. And that from a boy that could not process ANY sounds! Amazing! He is becoming braver and more confident every day and is beginning to believe in himself and what he can do. We continue with him in the summers to finish the program. This has literally changed these two boys life forever! They will be able to go places and do things in their lives that were closed to them before. In addition, we have found the seminars that Shelley Hatch puts on to be Extremely beneficial. I have loved each one I have gone to. The things we learned there have made this whole process one that we enjoyed rather than suffered through. I would Highly recommend going to at least one seminar. I have attended several and learned new things at each one. The classes are some of the most valuable time I have spent because it taught me what I needed to know to raise happy, strong, confident children with dyslexia. We have had different tutors with this center over the years but periodically I still have to call Shelley just to tell her how grateful we are and what she means to me.

I cannot express how grateful I am for the Dyslexia Center Of Utah. My daughter who is 9, has constantly struggled with reading and writing. I tried working with two different school districts but was never seeing any progress. In fact, I was seeing regression. This was extremely difficult to watch especially not knowing where to turn for help, or even where to start, but knowing that something needed to be done. After talking with her pediatrician we were referred to DCU for an evaluation. As a single mother being able to use their scholarship program made the difference, allowing her to be able to attend and get this assistance. If we were unable to get a scholarship Im certain we wouldnt be where we are today in respect to her learning.Since starting at DCU she has gone from struggling at a 1st grade reading level, to reading chapter books. Her tutor Miss Brenda is amazing at encouraging, yet challenging her to always to better, to reach higher. She looks forward to tutoring and is excited about school again. Shes developed a new hobby....reading. Shes reading EVERYTHING! Ive been given a second chance to watch her grow, watch her thrive at live. Ive been able to see her be the child that Id felt she always wanted to be but was unable to show it. DCU made this possible for my daughter. My daughter will always have progress to make but through them they have made her see that nothing is impossible. We are so lucky to have them and their numerous, talented tutors to be able to help children like her not only be able succeed in life but to excel, to be able to achieve their dreams and allow them to reach higher than they ever thought was possible. As a mother its been a dream come true.I will forever be grateful to DCU and the donations from others that have made this possible for my family. I know that if they had the ability to reach out and help every child in need, without the worry of cost, that they would do it. They would be able to move mountains.

Im 100% confident that the program at the Dyslexia Center of Utah uses for their students works and it has given my son the powerful gift of knowledge. The Dyslexia Center of Utah is outstanding!!!When my sons IEP test results came back from his school in the 5th% percentile for his age (kindergarten) I was devastated. No parent wants to hear that their child is one of the lowest compared to his peers and that he struggles severely with reading skills, language skills and speech.I knew I needed to do everything I could to help my son catch up. He would be devastated if he could not move up in school.I met with the IEP team and they wanted my son to attend resource. I denied access of these services as I wanted to seek outside help first. After 37 sessions with the Dyslexia Center of Utah (6 weeks at 4 days a week), the school reassessed my son and he was in the 98% percentile.I want those reading this to know the sooner you can get these children help, they will not have to experience the anxiety, anger, frustration, sadness, and bullying that I have witnessed with others that have struggled with reading difficulty. After only a short time with DCU my son isnt afraid to read out loud or talk to others. He used to be afraid of others saying, We dont understand you. He can READ big books by himself, his speech is great and his handwriting is awesome as well.I never get emotional but just thinking about the progress he has made while coming to DCU is unbelievable.I cant say “Thank You” enough to DCU for giving my child the confidence he needs to continually progress in school. He now believes he can do anything and the Dyslexia Center of Utah has given him the confidence he needs! We appreciate everything you have done and the time you have taken to invest in our son’s future. Hes off to a great start! He is now Top of his class and the highest level reader and I know it was all because of DCU!

So rarely would I take the time to really refer or review a business. However, today I will. 9 month ago my family mad an agonizing move from Southern California to Utah for business reasons. My son Braxton (just turned 8) was diagnosed with Dyslexia at age 5. For two years Monique and I did everything in our power to help him learn to read and write and overcome the challenges of dyslexia. We put him in multiple tutorings, home schooled him and drilled him relentlessly on site works, letters and everything else. We read and read and read online what to do, and none of it seemed to really work. Nothing seemed to work. I would often think how frustrated I was and then would realize that he (Braxton) was even so much more frustrated. So we move to Utah. and we found an organization called Dyslexia Center of Utah. We took Braxton and felt good about it. It was a major investment in time. It would mean that two days a week we would have to take him out of school at around 11, drive him to tutoring, wait for him and then drive him back to school. However, we felt that this is what we had to do. His elementary school was a little worried about him missing that time as well.We fought the fight and did it. THANK GOODNESS! Instantly he started improving. The biggest thing is that he was excited each day to go to tutoring. He knew he was learning and he LOVED it. The major difference I saw in him was his confidence and his self esteem increased almost daily. His tutor Mrs. Annie is absolutely incredible. She has truly shown that she is invested in Braxton and wants him to learn and develop. Because of that Braxton begged us to go more then two days a week. So now for the past few months he has gone four days a week. He is learning faster then ever.Actually in the last IEP meeting that we had for him with his school each of the educators in the meeting were amazed by the progress that Braxton has made in the few months that he has been here and going to Dyslexia Center of Utah.Just sitting here and feeling extremely grateful for people that love and invest in my children and other children to make them better people and to overcome the challenges that they have. Thank you to Mrs. Annie and to Shelley Hatch (who runs Dyslexia Center of Utah) for loving and investing in my Braxton. You are changing his life forever!!!— feeling grateful with Shelley Hatch and 6 others
