Wanted to take a nice Sunday drive up the Great River Road, but before heading on our adventure we were looking for a place to have a bite to eat, so we stopped here and I’m glad we did. Food was amazing! Ambiance was unique; the employees super friendly and laid back. The restaurant is housed in an old commercial bakery building where they preserved the industrial feel and kept a lot of the old factory fixtures. They have an event space next too the dining room, which had an event in progress or i would have taken some photos of it. The food was excellent-my spouse and i shared the pretzels, which came with beer cheese, the whole grain mustard was really good, but if your not a fan of horseradish, which i am not, it was a bit over powering. I had the “coop special” sandwich with a salad and the sandwich was awesome. The sourdough was grilled to perfection and it was stacked with lots of meat and cheese. Would highly recommend.

Very cool building and atmosphere. We got the vegan buffalo cauliflower wrap and impossible burger and both were fantastic - particularly surprised by the impossible burger since theyre often bland and over-priced, but OBBC over-delivered on both entrees (and fries!). The beer and drinks were also great. Definitely coming back.

This is how taprooms should be. Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere (aka not pretentious), and a small amount of beers with a nice variety. While there were only 4 beers on tap, each offered something unique. The honey oat and vanilla porter were particularly good. I was also impressed with the food. Excellent sandwich (Murphy) and the greens on the salad were fresh and rivaled any other high brow establishment. They also had additional beers in cans available as well as some swag (t-shirts, hats and glassware).

I wish there is a brewery like this in Jacksonville .Friendly staff, cool massive space, very good and tasty beers, delicious food, AND cocktails!! It’s a great spot!It is the first brewery I have visited that serves spirits and I wish there were more :)Got to enjoy these brews during my visit and would be happy to order again on the next visit.North End IPA – India Pale Ale brewed on the North End of St. Louis metro (hence the name), then dry hopped it with Citra, Cascade, and Crystal. 5.7% ABV, 50 IBUCitrus Wheat - Brewed with lemon peel, orange peel, and a touch of chamomile and coriander. On our way to Pere Marquette we stopped at the Old Bakery Beer Company for a light lunch before a bike ride in Grafton. The taproom waitress was helpful in picking out some tasty beers for a flight and they did not disappoint. The food was tasty as well and we bought a 4 pack of the blueberry for the cooler since we were going to be riding and didnt want to fill up. We will return.

The beer and the food were both delicious. Well, when we finally got our food anyway.... Three stars is because of service only.My wife and I are both very patient people. My wife waited in line and ordered our food and beer. We got our beer right away, but after watching the entire room (including those who arrived after us) get their food, eat, and leave... we began to wonder where our two sandwiches and salad were. I finally (after 45 minutes) went to ask. I was told that our food was next up and the chicken was currently frying.I dont buy this story because tickets put in after ours were prepared, served, consumed, and the ticket closed (theyd already left). No apology or further explanation was given.Id love to return, but probably not for the food unless the service is greatly improved.

We make the 40-minute trip to Old Bakery every couple months. Its got great character, the food is always good, service is excellent, and they have a few solid beer options. The beers are generally good to great with the highlight being their exceptional Porter. The Late Addition IPA is another stand-out. I feel like things step down a bit from there. The Brown and Cat Cafe Coffee Stout are ok. The recently ran a pretty solid IPA named M.I.S.S.I.S.S.I.P.A. But theres a lot of beer here I wouldnt drink if I was desperate. Above average - mostly due to the Porter and Late Addition - 3.5 of 5 stars. We go to Old Bakery for the food. Always excellent - everything is super fresh - great flavor. Sandwiches, Soups, Salads - nothing too complicated - but everything is done so well. Im personally obsessed with their cubano. 5 of 5.Service is generally good - one of the few regional breweries where I find sitting at the bar results in better service. Bartenders are very attentive - the brewery is well-staffed, so staff can develop some rapport with customers, and you wont have to wait too long for a refill or to order food. The business is very well managed. 5 of 5.

Amazing food. I’ve had the Ruben and their burgers, and they were both superb. The burger comes medium rare, and the Ruben melts in your mouth. The beer is amazing as well, 10/10 for variety and taste. Although the cider on tap isn’t theirs, I highly recommend trying it if you like cider.

A decent place to stop for a beer and food. On 10/4/20 there are 4 beers on tap and 5 cans to choose from, they also have a few wines and cocktails to choose from. Some of their menu items are rotating so I wanted Fish and Chips, its Sunday, that is served Fridays. We got a burger to split instead and the menu says it was 1/2 lb, im seriously questioning this as it was really small and Im small and still hungry after it. It was good though but I think lacked some of the stuff it was supposed to have according to the menu. It said it would have jalapeños, it wasnt spicy and I saw no jalapeños. The workers were kind, food came out quick in under 20 mins. It was decent and masks are required for anyone walking around.

A great brewery in downtown Alton. They had a large variety of craft beers, IPAs, stouts, sour ales, you name it. They serve food and while we didn’t order any, what I saw looked appetizing. Appeared to be a kid friendly brewery too. We also took a tour and heard the back story from the owner. My only complaint is they don’t distribute north of Bloomington.

Not a bad little place. The food is great. I love the building. The service has been less than desirable both times. The first visit we asked for our checks to be split. They charged me and 1 other guest correctly. The third guest was charged for the entire bill and had to wait to be refunded. The server did not even apologize. Our next visit was my birthday dinner. We had a party of 8. This means that Gratuity was already included (we still tip on top of that). We were treated as if our tip had already been determined and the server had no time to help us. Had to ask several times for condiments and the side order of pickles that 1 guest requested. Drinks stayed empty.

The beer is good. The food is GREAT! Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the river bend area. As the name implies, it is in a building that once housed a commercial bakery. As such, there is plenty of space. The bar / dining room is huge, and comfortable even at peak capacity. There is also an event space that is routinely used for shows, concerts, charity events, etc. The building has an industrial feel, which I think is intentional. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and love to talk beer. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Youll be glad you did.My go-to combination is the Cuban sandwich with a pint of Citrus Wheat.

Im a big fan of their space, but have had a fairly lackluster experience and so-so food each time Ive been here. But, my experience last weekend was probably the worst. In summary: We put in our name with the hostess for lunch (it was about 1:00 PM on a Saturday) for a small table and were given a vague update that it would be a little bit with no further explanation, although we could see that there were about 7-8 open and clean tables with no one seated at them - so we were hopeful. We decided to stay put, and ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get seated. So, we started off on kind of a bad foot.We made sure we had our order ready as soon as we sat down since we had already waited a while and were trying to keep our 1-year old entertained and happy. We ordered immediately. Our fairly simple orders - a burger and the sandwich special - took another 30 minutes before coming to the table. So, at that point, we had been there over an hour before receiving our food. We ate as fast as we could, chased the waiter down to pay, and then left promptly to avoid a pending meltdown from our toddler who had had enough of the delay as well.In short, what could have and should have been a fun, laid back experience left us feeling exceptionally frustrated. My wife joked that we were going to die there. It definitely started to feel that way.Unfortunately, I think this is the last time we give this place a chance. Both the front-of-house and back-of-house must have been grossly understaffed. Management should absolutely take heed, as we were clearly not the only family frustrated by the exceedingly slow turn, as we could see the same situation happening at the other tables around us and on the faces of the families waiting near the hostess stand for a table - again, even though many tables were open and at that point we were well past what would be considered any sort of lunch rush.I would only recommend this place to a friend if they were looking only to order a beer at the bar. Otherwise, I would unfortunately advise them to stay away at all costs. I want to like this place - but my experiences have been just plain bad.

I had a pretty average experience here. Its a cool venue, but the parking is very limited and you may have to park a couple blocks away. It took awhile to be seated and took even longer to get a waiter or food. The food itself didnt seem fresh, especially the meat (which seems super processed like they got it out of a bag or can), which was a shame because it took so long to get food. This is exactly the kind of place that downtown Alton needs. A little funky, great beer and interesting food. My wife remembered coming to this place a year or two ago when it was an actual bakery while she was in Girl Scouts. The stouts are my favorite as was the kale salad. Who knew I even liked kale. but I did. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that there is no outside seating and with a view of the river like this, they really need to try and think up some way to bring the outdoors to the inside of the place.
