The volunteers are all so friendly, the dogs and cats are very well understood and cared for, my daughter loves to come pet the animals
I loved coming by to the Mansell campus! We got to take home our new family addition, Cola, on Tuesday and I couldnt be happier! Shes such a wonderful addition to our home and we love her so much.
Huge selection of sweet dogs looking for homes. Caring staff. I couldnt be happier with my adopted doggo.
While every shelter has a right to their discretion in accepting a surrendered animal, the interactions we had with staff in our isolated experience left us walking away with a feeling like this particular location judged adoptability based solely on the animals age and beauty. Or: is it Instagram-worthy?Props for offering further resources, but I do wish the surrender process was much more honest and upfront about senior animals past a certain age so that we hadnt wasted each others time.We were left with the impression that this facility would not be a good fit for older animals who would have a harder time adapting to shelter life, and that is a perfectly valid piece of information for staff to reinforce. And I do appreciate that they were honest and upfront that if the senior animals in this instance were processed into their system, they would be euthanized within two days. However, it shouldnt have taken us going through the entire appointment to discover that would be the stance taken. Particularly when age was communicated as a primary reason for rejection. A detail that is displayed on the application paperwork and available for review prior to appointments. Some pet owners looking to rehome are already in vulnerable positions and feeling low about having to place an animal elsewhere. So when staff challenges a person during surrender to ask: Have you tried elsewhere? Or: are we the first and only place you looked? It can come across as aggressive and rub salt in the wound, especially if someone has exhausted plenty of avenues.Kudos to the good work this organization and location does do in adopting out pets and to all the volunteers, but youve got work to do in softening your stances in redirecting persons-in-need elsewhere.
Ive been here many times as well as other locations looking for a puppy to adopt for my son, but every time we come its a let down. They never have any. Unfortunately, this leaves us with no other option but to buy from a breeder.
Came here for a pop up adoption event and was very impressed at the operation they have going on. The facility was really nice, and clean too. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. Thankful for their service and what they do. Will support them any way I can. Keep up the good work and thank you!
Really clean! Would’ve loved there to be more selection today but was happy to see many of the animals so well cared for.
They have a very nice facility at the Mansell Road location. All of the staff that we met with were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and considerate to both guests and the animals that they have housed there. It was great to see many pets go home with their new families. The social distancing protocols that they had in place were effective and reasonable.
From the time we entered the doors everyone was very attentive and helpful right up to snd after we purchased Howie. Awesome 1st time experience. Mrs. Mary Woods
I went in there and walked out with my new girl dog Coda. Every one was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.
This is a great place to adopt cats and dogs in the Roswell/Alpharetta area. They are very kind and helpful. Right now due to covid they are not open everyday so check ahead of time.
It was awesome. We went to a pop up adoption there and it was so clean and nice. The folks that work there were cordial, professional and knowledgeable of the animals.
This place was clean and look like it was Ron very neatly customer service was at an all-time high for something like this we enjoyed the visit
We adopted Lincoln from there a few months ago. The building is very clean and the dogs are definitely taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helped me make sure Lincoln was the right fit for my family. I also was able to get the adoption fee waived through the Pets for Patriots program because I am a veteran. Id highly recommend adopting through the Atlanta Humane Society!
Amazing humane society adopted my little kitten motchi . The employees where so nice and caring answered all my questions and gave me all the info I needed for motchi .
We stopped by for our first time looking for a dog for our home. We expected to visit many shelters looking for the right fit but discovered this little guy here. The staff was very friendly and great help. The facility looked to be a car dealer from the outside but on the inside, very professional and clean shelter. Once we had made our decision, they were very clear about the policies and expectations on both sides. They really explained all the details well and we feel like we got a great fit for our family. Happy to support this great facility.
I already had a boxer mix at home and added an additional two from here. A five year old pit bull and a one year old beagle mix and they are so amazing. I love the fact that they dont kill and they give animals a chance at life. I wish all places could be like that. Im sure hardly anyone wouldve rescued a 5 year old pit but coming here gave me and my dog the opportunity and now shes 10 years old and will live loved and taken care of
Ive adopted two kittens from here in the past year. I recommend this place to all my friends. Its not like most shelters - the animals have ample space to play and nice clean condos with plexiglass instead of cold metal cages. The staff and volunteers are happy, energetic, and seem to truly care about the animals.I highly recommend anyone who is serious about adopting or donating an animal to check this place out. This is a no kill shelter, and it is funded by the community. They are in it for the right reasons and they do a great job. Also, the whole building is clean and doesnt stink like most shelters. 😉 check em out!
Great place to adopt a pet, somewhat busy
Beautiful place! Very caring and helpful!!
Prices are higher since COVid..But,the place is very clean and organized...
The staff was very friendly and an honest and obvious attachment to each animal. It was a very successful adoption event and we are just loving our pup
I called about getting help with a stray cat, they referred me to the website and wouldnt talk to me much over the phone...then I went to the website and filled out a form. Its been about 2ish months now and I never heard back. Just wish they would reach back out to me on some level to let me know they cant help.
Its definitely the cleanest one,I have seen dealing with animals.. I was looking for a puppy, but they didnt have any available
Sorry it took so long to write. I was very impressed with the staff, and the facility at Mansell. I had to do the worst thing, and surrender 2 of 3 of my babies, and, Im still crying about it. I asked that if any problems arise, and they cant keep them, or adopt them out, to please let me know, and I will come and get them, and bring them back home. I miss them very much, but the one baby that couldnt stay there, SNOW is home with me, and he is finally adjusting to being the only one. He was sad for the first few weeks, he missed his friends Blu, and Skye. I only hope they find new owners that love them as much we do. Thanks AHS for all your help.
Very friendly and helpful answering any questions about the animals. Great choices and a very clean facility.
Adopted a puppy 2 years ago. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I love my baby and my life has forever been changed because of my wonderful dog Dexter.
I brought Han Solo up there to be adopted by a sweet person or family. I love Han Solo he is my son a very sweet heart of German Shepherd who I dearly Miss when I had to give him up for adoption it left a hole in my heart I trust Mansell Humane Society to get him a good home to make sure he be taken care of and I believe they did just that it hurts so much when you have to give up your pet because they are part of the family its like losing one of your children but I know he would be taken care of. I want him taken care of he will be forever love thank you Mansell Humane Society for taking care of him for me getting him a home. I wish they would have let him have his belongings. Please DONATE the baby (our bestfriends)family needs us.
Adopted the sweetest JRT senior from here!
A great place to add a new family member.
Very polite, professional, and caring.
The staff is incredibly caring and nice! They truly want to find the best homes possible for the animals. Theres no typical-pet-store pressure to adopt. They understand that a lot of people there just want to play with the animals. The animals are the best. Plenty of kittens and puppies but also some really sweet adult pets too. Just got the most loving cat there a few days ago. Hes almost 5 years old and been through alot but still wants nothing more than to play and cuddle. The most inexpensive place to get a pet. They have pricing on their website. To give an idea, my cat was $50 and he came with all his shots up to date, fixed, and with a five pound bag of the food hes been eating.Overall, ditch the retail/chain stores and come get your new friend here.
Very friendly staff/volunteers. Very clean facility. Nice place to adopt a pet.
An awesome organization and a great place to foster with! Shout out to Kelly and Stacey! They do such important work
Only use web site. Each to navigate. Lots of pets to choose from
Very nice and professional
Went here looking to adopt a dog and fell in love with the very first one. After that the staff was super helpful on making sure that I was a right fit and that we were going to be a match for each other. The one I chose was brought back twice for behavior issues. Shes been with me for a week and shes the laziest indoor dog I have ever met. Take her outside... Different story...
Friendly and helpful staff and so many adorable animals. Adopt dont shop! Clean facility. My autistic son wanted a fur baby of his own so we ventured in and found him the perfect sweet baby. The staff were kind and thorough in explaining everything. They were patient with his questions and answered every one.
Wonderful staff and Doctors. Always so helpful and caring with my animals.
Very impressive building! It was a car dealership converted to a very open space to show off all the dogs and cats there. We were there to get a dog and were successful. A great experience.
Love the people that works there.
Great facility, clean with lots of room. Animals are well cared for. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great opportunity for volunteering. I felt good knowing the cats and dogs were in good hands.
This was my first time visiting the Atlanta Humane Society. Wow, what a wonderful experience! All of the animals have such a lovely place to call their temporary home. I adopted Roosevelt yesterday and I am so happy! The experience from end to end was very professional. It seems to be a very well fun facility. Please stop by to find your forever friend! Thank you!
Not only can you adopt a pet here but they have a day for a day program that will let you take an adoptable dog out for a day. This socializes the dig and increases their chances of adoption and is a great way to learn more about a dog you are interested in adopting. This is also a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants a dig but can not have one due to housing, work or other life constraints. The shelter also adopts cats for those who prefer a feline forever friend
A wonderful place. Very nice staff who jump to help. One volunteer was snobby and insulting to people there, but the others were wonderful. They keep the enclosures clean and do their best to help as quickly as they can. Would love to volunteer if I ever had time.
Ive gotten both of my cats here; one 6 years ago and another 1 month ago. It is a very professional environment. The adoption process is both easy and thorough. I recommend this establishment to everyone looking to adopt a cat!
Found 3 stray kittens while working on a Friday morning. After fostering them over the weekend I stopped in Monday morning not realizing they werent open. When I was able to get someones attention they said they could give me listings of county kill shelters and suggested I take them to the county I found them or return the next day to have them evaluated but they only do that by appointment so they only take on what they have room for. I returned the following morning and they informed me they would have to be 2+lbs before they could take them and said they would still need to be fostered until then when they could be surrendered for adoption. I was on the fence but when they offered supplies to assist I accepted. Before leaving we made a follow-up appointment near the end of the month in hopes they would be ready by then. I thanked them and was about to take the supplies they offered off the counter as they finished our convo with... So when you bring them back to surrender, thatll be $40.00 EACH... I was awestruck, couldnt believe what Id just heard. I must have made a face in reaction to this because she quickly began backpedaling saying well, since there are 3, we can work with you... Insinuating reducing the cost per animal to surrender. I was blown away. They continued to try and justify this fee saying it goes to shots, meds, microchips ect ect. I asked why the Humane Society, A NONPROFIT that takes donations year round, would want $$$ from me when Im only trying to find them a better life & AFTER I had already agreed to foster another 3 WEEKS. I WAS INSULATED. I told them then I would not be accepting their supplies then as this constitutes a verbal agreement and I dont want them trying to bill me. I asked to speak with a mgr and got the same story. I refused their help. They make it extremely difficult to do the right thing. People adopting may have had pleasant experiences but try surrendering a stray... You wont find much help there.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The facility is large and clean with a great layout. The ~$400-$500 for a puppy pet adoption seems rather high, regardless of the age of the animal. Outside of the high adoption fee, everything else was great!
I have never had a better experience at any rescue or shelter I have been to. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. This is the cleanest rescue I have ever been in they clearly work so hard to take care of the animals they have here. My only warning which is really quite a positive if you love animals is that the adoption process takes some time. They have you meet with an adoption counselor and theres a wait time to get in to see one. They really make sure people understand what their new pet needs and that the new owners are prepared. Any time a space in my home is open to take in a new dog I will be returning here. When you save a life at a no kill shelter youre saving the dog you rescue and the space that opens up for them to take a new dog in!
Volunteers are so cheery and positive. They love what they are doing. I gave four stars because they hardly had any cats, which in many ways is awesome.
This place is incredible! When you pull up it almost looks like a museum rather than a dog shelter, inside is just a great too! IF youre looking to pick up a fuzzy friend you should definitely come here! I think the best way to see how well maintained a shelter is, is the condition of the animals temporary home. They are always clean, well fed, accessible water and some toys and blankets. We havent quite found our new furry friend, but if its an excuse to come back here every weekend and see, Id be happy to!
Wonderful caring people.Had to release cat for rescue due to trying to not getting along with other cat. He was adopted in two days. They took a picture of him and new family. Love them
Amazing animal facility. I love Atlanta Humane Society so much! Ive been a cat volunteer here a few years ago and just last year after my lovely cat passed after 19 years, I adopted a new kitty fur baby from this Mansell campus. The animals here, amd I know from experience are so well taken care of. Best place to adopt 😇🙏🏼💖🐱🐶🐾🐾
I bought a cat here a year ago but this cat had no personality, was not friendly, clawed up my carpet no matter what we did to stop her but she kept doing it. She would terrorize my other cat and eventually started not letting my other cat use the litter box so she was dedicating in the house. We tried to deal with it but couldn’t take it anymore so we drove back to this place to return the cat and they were gonna charge $75 to return the cat. What????? You made me pay to get the cat and now your gonna charge to return it. There is no way I will ever come back.
QUICK look aroundMy wife set up a text alert for dachshund mix. when she got one I went by. the place is large and clean. The dogs and cats looked well cared for. The puppies we were alerted to are very cute but didnt look like dachshund puppies.
What a wonderful place to find your next furry best friend! Clean environment, friendly staff and adorable creatures. You can spend as much time as youd like getting to know each and every one of them . Highly recommended!
The staff was so nice. Informed and provided grest customer service. It was a pleasant visit.
I had my dog neutered there. It was a simple and quick process to check-in. They explain what to do after the procedure. Much cheaper than the vet.
I went here today to see if we could get a puppy for my daughter who has epilepsy... that we would be getting trained . Not one person greeted or asked us if we needed help. I decided to take her to where the cats were and finally someone decided to greet us. But she was extremely rude .. she asked me if I was buying or browsing.. with that type of question . I said I wasn’t sure ..she claimed they make her say that. I believe her name was Betty but I am not sure. Then she walks off.. my daughter did get a little scared and screamed 1 time!!! While I’m in the process of asking my husband to remove her so she does not scare the cats . The same woman was asking us to pretty much get out because of my daughter. She is two years old ! I told her not to worry because we are leaving . This really sucks because I over all like this place and was looking forward to adopting a pet.
Great place! We have adopted 2 dogs from the Humane Society on Mansell over the past couple of years. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
I volunteered here for 20 hours. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s a very clean facility. The animals are very well taken care of.
Fun, loud and eclectic. The build your own burger and salad options are great! Need more dessert options.
Clean friendly, all about getting those sweet pups adopted. I dropped off items from my dog that passed last summer and they were so appreciative.
Best place for pet adoption! These people care so much for their animals and constantly try to find them a loving home. Thanks and keep up the incredible work!
The adoption process was slow. They did keep you waiting an hour just to go over one paper full of common sense instructions. However I did not take away any stars because that facility and the volunteers are 5 star. So clean!!! So many caring volunteers!
