Initially I wasn’t going to leave this review, but after my recent visit I was shocked to find another review from a customer who had a similar experience as me, so I decided I should share my experience also.I first went to Maria in March of 2021 for Brazilian and underarm sugar waxing. That visit was great, Maria was very welcoming and friendly. The only somewhat negative thing I could say about this first visit was that she did start kind of abruptly without warning or explanation of what to expect; however that wasn’t a big deal. Otherwise the wax was great, she did a really good job and I was very happy with my results. After this visit I thought I would become a regular customer, but I was wrong.My second (and what will be my last) visit was the complete opposite of my first. I had an appointment scheduled for underarms, but my nail appointment prior to ran longer than expected, so I called in to notify that I was running late. I was told that there weren’t any other open appointment slots for the day but I could come as a walk-in and see if Maria would be able to squeeze me in. When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk. The studio was empty. I sat down for about a minute, and then Maria walked out. She gave me this confused look as if I wasn’t suppose to be there, which I figured was somewhat normal since I was outside of my appointment slot. I greeted her and explained what I was told over the phone, and she just responded saying “go to the back room.” I wasn’t greeted at all, She seemed very cold and barely said 2 words to me the entire time. When I walked into the room, the sheet/covering on the bed was ruffled up as if it hadn’t been changed after the previous client, When Maria walked in she said “lay down” , she was being very stern and serious so I didn’t bother to ask if the sheet was new and just gave her the benefit of the doubt. She waxed my underarms, and after she was done told me to “take a look at them.” I was expecting her to hand me a small mirror to look at them (like she did the first time) but she didn’t, so I just turned my head to the side to see the results. On my way out of the room I asked if I could get the sugar scrub that she gave me last time, she seemed agitated then said she’ll give it to me out front and to just go out there. When we got to the front, I cash apped her the money, and she sat the scrub on the table and told me to take it. I then handed her a cash tip and thanked her, and she looked confused, almost as if she was wondering why I was giving it to her, then she just took it and didn’t say a word or even look me in my eye.The entire experience from start to finish was just very uncomfortable, I felt unwanted there, almost like I was being a burden, even as a paying customer. It’s like there was this tension in the room/coming from her. I understand I was late for my appointment, however I don’t think that warrants poor customer service when I called to notify her and could’ve been told not to come in if it was that big of an inconvenience. Needless to say, I’ll never be returning. And with the vibe I was getting from her, I honestly think she could care less. I Will be trying out two other sugar waxing studios in the area, and hopefully I have a better experience.

I have been going to Marias Organic Sugaring Studio for four years......she is FABULOUS!! My first visit was easier than expected because she talks you through the process and is patient if you need a break. Now I am in and out in 15 minutes! Maria is excellent and I recommend her to everyone!

Used to be a client and in the beginning, like most of the reviews, place was great. I have never received the « friendly » Maria as so many people have claimed in the reviews. She always seemed pretty neutral to me, which isn’t a bad thing - as long as the work was good, I was satisfied - but my last couple of visits, sad to say the quality of her work slacked and she did not make me feel welcome.Usually the place is clean and prepped, but lately I noticed the sugaring pots looked like they hadnt been cleaned in a week or so. On one occasion she forgot to remove the bed sheet roll of a prior client. Of course she removed it, but makes me wonder what else she « forgot ». I’ve always found Maria’s work clean and thorough but she’s not gentle about it. For most of my brazilians, she just dives in and starts applying the sugaring wax, no prepping or explanation of what she’s going to do. Hot wax being applied on your woohaa and its hair being pulled out from the root, whether it’s waxing or sugaring, will forever be painful to me. That being said, I’ve always sucked it up and dealt with it. Maria loves to have you in positions that make it easier for her to reach, not in positions where the skin is more taught (which makes the hair removal less painful). All the other wax spots I’ve been too immediately press on the area of skin they rip the hair off to ease the pain - Maria does not. The cherry on the top for me was when she kept asking about my sweating. No big deal for any of the professional wax technician Ive been to at other places, but Maria kept berating me about it as if it were an issue like «you’re sweating», why are you sweating so much? look at the sweat. Needless to say she definitely made me feel very uncomfortable. On my last visit, she claimed that a few of my hair were too short to pull out and insisted that I shaved between my visits. I did not. But regardless, she decided to charge me extra in the middle of the session. I paid, but when I tried to let her know that I didn’t think that was right, she said that was the way it was and maybe I should try finding another studio. If that’s how you treat your loyal clients (that tip), say less Maria. Very unexpected and highly unprofessional.Of course since then I have found a better wax studio - funny thing is, I probably wouldn’t have written a review, if Maria hadn’t popped back on my radar asking for a follow-up appointment. Um, hard no.And no, I do not recommend this place.

I have been coming here for 4 years! Will never stop. This is the only hair removal method I use for my pubic hairs. Ever since my first visit, I never looked back. With consistent visits, the hair begins to stay away from 6-8 weeks, begin I with visits ever 4-6 weeks. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! The suite is clean, beautiful, &professional and has felt nothing but welcoming. I am so pleased, if I decided to do anything skin related for the first time, I will definitely go there. Maria is the greatest! She’s fast, gentle as she could be...lol...and very friendly! She makes you comfortable and she is professional. On time, the service room, bathroom and waiting area is always clean! I make the 30 min drive every 4-5 weeks! I will go no where else!

So this was my second experience coming to MariaMy first visit was with a Groupon I purchased for a Brazilian sugar wax. I had gotten Brazilians in the past for about 2 years with European wax but they were constantly changing workers that it was hard to find one I really liked and not to mention the pain it was always between 70%-100% every when you start to get used to it. So I looked into sugar waxing. I came across Maria’s studio and I decided I tried since I looked up it lasted longer and hurt less.Maria is phenomenal I will never go back to hard wax ever again, she is very calming and knows exactly what she’s doing without hesitation.The pain is only 25% of a that of a regular hard wax and that is me being a big wimp, it is totally bearable. Clean environment, it is honestly the best of the best 100000/10

I received my first sugaring by Maria and may I say she is AMAZING!!! She was professional, friendly, and polite. She greeting me with such respect! Her place of business is well clean and her area of work is sanitized as well as organized. As far as my sugaring experience, she did a good job keeping my mind off of the process. It was not as painful as I thought it would be. She also was very clean when completing my sugaring and educated me about it as she was doing it. So if you are in the NOVA area and looking for some place that does sugaring, trust me you will not be disappointed. Lastly, her pricing is reasonable. Maria did an amazing job. I regularly hard wax and decided to try out sugaring. This was much less painful, felt cleaner, no residue left behind, and most importantly NO ingrowns after. Im very sensitive and Marias work left me less irritated than any other method/waxer. Going to make this my permanent waxing spot.
