AK&B did a fantastic job and it was more than just your average kitchen remodel. We removed a wall, moved major plumbing, installed a new gas line for cooking, and installed/refinished hardwood floors in three rooms. Oh, and of course we remodeled the kitchen with custom cabinets, hand picked granite, top of the line appliances, and all the bells and whistles, like under cabinet lighting and puck lights in the glass door cabinet. Tanya was very responsive and worked with my busy scheduled to help me get everything picked out. She made suggestions, but didnt push more expensive items.George makes AK&B particularly special. He is a true craftsman. He scoped out my job multiple times to make sure that the plumbing move and the gas line extension would be effective and sound in design. He even checked with the gas company to make sure my main line supplied enough to add a chefs stove to the houses overall load. He is a true perfectionist and particular about each and every step. The materials he uses are high quality. Sure I picked certain things like appliances and faucets, but the littler things that I didnt pick, like the undercab lights and the garbage disposal and plug covers are all very high quality-- because they take pride in their work.If you want a big crew that is going to blow in and out and race through your job, this is not your team. Perfection and care takes time. George is methodical and that takes some time, but AK&B let me know what to expect and delivered and finished the job on schedule. I recommend them wholeheartedly.Jason Waite

We used Alexandria Kitchen and Bath to remodel our kitchen late last year. We love the kitchen, and the experience was fantastic. Tanya guided us every step of the way in making all the decisions needed, and ensured we would be happy with the final product. George, the owner, helps with decision making at every step of the process, from pre-tearout walkthrough to final install. The work is beautiful, and the end result is a fully functional working kitchen, with space, beauty, and ease of use.I have attached pictures of the finished product. We could not have been happier with the design/build team.

It was a pleasure working with Tanya, AK&B’s incredibly talented kitchen designer, on two different properties over the past 18 months. The scope of the work included 10 bathrooms, a basement bar area with a floating ceiling, a walk-in pantry, and one large kitchen with a butler pantry. Our introduction to the high-quality work and professionalism of AK&B was with the first property which included a master bath and guest bath. Tanya met with us and went over the process, offering design ideas and answering any questions we might have. The cabinet selections at the showroom were great and she was extremely helpful in suggesting different tile and granite counter retailers when we did not see exactly what we were looking for at the showroom. Once we found the finishes we wanted, Tanya coordinated all the ordering and delivery. She made the experience seamless, which is what we were looking for.One of the reasons we initially picked AK&B was because the owner, Georges, also did the installation and carpentry. We liked the idea that we would be dealing directly with the owner and not a subcontractor. Additionally, AK&B uses the same electrician, tile layer, and glass/mirror installer for all their jobs. The first time Georges came to our house was for preparation purposes. We were extremely impressed with the thorough pre-planning and staging of the project. Once Georges was on site to complete our bathrooms, we were even more impressed with the quality and craftmanship of his work.Shortly after AK&B finished our two baths in our old home, we bought a new home. The first, and only, folks we considered for the renovations in the new home were Tanya and Georges. We felt incredibly lucky that they agreed to take on this huge project and saw it through to the end.Tanya’s input, design skills, and attention to detail resulted in a fantastic outcome on all the rooms! With every project we sat down with Tanya to go over specifics. Once the details were settled, Tanya sent us detailed layouts with elevations which were so helpful in visualizing each room. We could not have done the scope of work we were facing without Tanya’s help. The beautiful end result is a testament to Tanya’s dedication, design talent, and knowledge of products and materials. We cannot say enough positive things about Georges’ extraordinary work on our house. His craftmanship, attention to detail, and dedication to perfection resulted in our dream home. Georges is one-of-a-kind – honest, trustworthy, hardworking, and design savvy. His keen sense of design helped us with many a decision along the way. We often say when admiring something about the house, “That was Georges’ idea….!” I would highly recommend Alexandria Kitchen & Bath Studio.

We have had both our kitchen and master bath redone by them. They are simply the best around. Very high quality work. This is truly custom work. Their designs are both elegant and efficient and the outcomes are breathtaking.A real hallmark is the work itself. They are very strict about prior planning and staging and as a result the work is done very efficiently.I would go nowhere else!

We hired Alexandria Kitchen and Bath to renovate a 1970s kitchen in our 1938 house. Anyone who has done any kind of renovation in an older home…one without 90 degree corners, plumb walls, level horizontal surfaces, and with old plumbing, electricity and plaster walls knows the nightmares that may be hiding in a renovation. Georges has an extensive work history in this area and most importantly, with older homes. He knows how important it is to make everything as level as possible and line up vertically with the doorways and cabinets adjacent to each other. We had heard horror stories from neighbors and friends so choosing the right design/build company was key. One of the things I appreciated most with this company was that the owner and the General Contractor and the man doing most of the ‘heavy lifting’, were one and the same.My experience with the team was the best. Tanya, the designer, was my first contact. She is very knowledgeable about the products they sell, how the layout should work with appliances, doorways, opened cabinet doors, etc., and didn’t try to force me to purchase anything that we had different opinions on.The project involved some minor plumbing changes to run cold water to the relocated refrigerator, and removing the old iron radiator, replacing it with a sleek European-style one on an adjacent wall. The kitchen is small with doors on 3 walls and a window on the other. So there are cabinets on only 2 of the 4 walls. The new oak flooring matches the old flooring in the dining room and living room perfectly and George installed it beautifully, preplanning everything so it lined up with the dining room floor boards that are on the other side of the flat ‘threshold’ board separating the two rooms. He also installed a pocket door in an existing wall. The end result was better than my inspiration picture - the kitchen is beautiful, exactly how I imagined it and we receive many compliments from everyone who visits. It was completed within their scheduled time frame of 3 weeks. I would highly recommend the team at Alexandria Kitchen and Bath for anyone planning a kitchen renovation especially in an older home.

My mom asked me to find the best kitchen remodeling company so I hit google and found some options near our area. I called this company but the line was engaged when I called. I tried calling again after few minutes but the call didn’t go through. I called again in the afternoon and finally someone picked up the phone. We asked for some info and quotation and we decided to check the shop the next day to browse some kitchen design. Quality of work was okay but the workers they have sent us did not finish the project on the agreed time. They were few days behind which was a bit disappointing. Remodeling a kitchen is a headache so we want to get it done on the agreed time and showing up late will not guarantee any of that.

Tanya really listened to our needs and budget concerns - the result is a gorgeous space we can enjoy for many many years. Thank you, Tanya!

After carefully researching kitchen renovation companies for over a year and getting three quotes, I choose Alexandria Kitchen and Bath for their professionalism, friendliness, quality cabinetry and competitive pricing. Their design consultant, Tanya, was excellent in providing ideas, pricing and plans in a timely fashion, and very accommodating when I made changes. The installation of the kitchen was absolutely amazing - although I had been quoted 4 weeks, George actually finished it in just 13 days! He was a pleasure to have working in the house and the quintessential perfectionist - so much so that there was never a punch list. The kitchen is stunning and beautifully installed, and I am already planning on having him do my master bathroom. I have no hesitation in recommending this company - they have to be one of the best in this area and are quite definitely well priced for the quality workmanship they provide.

We’ve interviewed quite a lot of bathroom remodel companies to update our master bathroom before we finally found the right match with Alexandria Kitchen and Bath Studio. The design and layout proposal was impressive and just what we need for our growing family. It was also fun as they gave us a comprehensive option to choose from for a bathtub, vanity, cabinet and countertop.

My wife and I have used AK&B on three occasions over the last three years and have been VERY pleased with their work, follow up and knowledge. We have a condo here in Alexandria. They have redone bathrooms, put in cabinets, replaced granite and done vanity and storage “built-ins” and did work in our kitchen to fix poor work by another contractor. The tile work and the bathroom remodels are wonderful. We could not be more pleased.Tanya did a great job with design, willing to listen and make changes. Georges has great attention to detail, knows the products he recommends and puts the project together as if it was his own home - which you absolutely want and need in this type of work. Both he and Tanya gave us options for solutions, ending with a result that we love. One big factor for us was that we needed to be out of the condo during the remodel, we had no concerns with this at all. Just a great overall experience with AK&B. We would use them again!

Tanya created a great design for my kitchen! I have a very small space, had very little counter space, and very inefficient cabinets. Tanyas plan changed the flow of my kitchen and gave me ample cabinet and countertop space. Tanya listened to my needs and was very accommodating. She was so pleasant and easy to work with. I love my new kitchen, my cabinets are beautiful, and I would highly recommend Tanya and Alexandria Kitchen and Bath Studio.

We are quite pleased with the quality of the material creations that were offered to us as selection options by our design consultant Tanya. This began our experience with AK&B studio in the replacement of our 1996 kitchen. Tanya’s willingness to participate in off-site selections for flooring, countertops & backsplash materials at local supplier locations, as well as company in-house selection of cabinetry & hardware for cabinetry, was a valuable assist. She is as well talented in recognizing compatible lighting fixture components to compliment the project requirements. Once material selections were completed, the installation schedule was established. Within the proffered time frame, removal & replacement began. The (99%) remover/installer, company owner, Georges, is a wonder. A true professional in his trades. (His capabilities are varied & of quality). Our remodel required a measure of electrical renovation that was provided by a professional electrical contractor. George responsibly does not perform outside his code requirements. He is a professional. If you’re looking for a Lowe’s/Home Despot upgrade to your home, don’t call this company. We are very pleased we engaged with Alexandria Kitchen & Bath. GOOD: One star for the showroom and quality of available materials. One star for the excellence of the glass and tile installers.BAD:Ability to work with the customer. Abysmal. Owner, operator and on-site construction lead Georges is defensive, argumentative, and quick to take his frustrations out on the homeowner. Note: These traits were not on display until our contract was signed and the work begun.Quality control. Speed over workmanship. Examples: light fixtures and switchplates were prominently askew; sinks were put in backwards, vessel sinks improperly plumbed; shelving was misaligned; etc, etc. Georges’ response: a shrug of the shoulder.Cost. High. In addition to the premium, agreed-upon pricing, Georges forced design changes on us midway through construction, and slapped us with the additional materiel costs of several thousand dollars.NEUTRAL:Speed of installation. Good, but not significantly faster than any other contractor we have worked with. See also, Quality control, above.Design work. Adequate—nothing outside the box, but our designer was responsive and easy to work with.THE BOTTOM LINE: NOT RECOMMENDED. Please note: These comments are based on work performed a few years ago.

Tanya, the designer, is an absolute delight to work with! She listens and collaborates with infinite patience and is full of innovative ideas to realize the customers vision within budget. Georges, the owner/installer, is a craftsman who is a model of efficiency. My neighbor and I both started kitchen renovations at the same time, with different companies; although my project was larger in scope, Georges had mine finished in 2.5 weeks--my neighbors took 2.5 months! You get what you pay for, and AKBS gave me great value in terms of product and time. If you want your project done quickly and right the first time, AKBS is the best...thats why Im a repeat customer! .

We had someone come out to look at a master bath that needed to be completely redone. It took them two weeks to schedule us to come in and see what they had come up with. My husband and I took time off work, made a trip into Alexandria, and were completely underwhelmed with the experience. Our design specialist never made it to the meeting. We were turned over to an assistant who had clearly never looked at the plan before. We were given a $60,000.00 estimate and told that someone would be in touch with us to settle some design issues. Actually we never heard from them again. No apology for missing the meeting, and no attempt to reach us. They clearly didnt want our business.

AKBS did a fantastic job making the most of a small kitchen space. They listened when we talked about what we wanted, made great suggestions for things wed not considered, and finished within the requested time frame. Theyd renovated a bathroom for us earlier and the experience was similar. Their workmanship is excellent. Georges is as finnicky as we are about getting things done the right way and does not cut corners. In our shopping around we found AKBS to be maybe 10% to 15% more expensive than other contractors, but you get what you pay for--high quality design, materials, and installation.

This is a followup review to an earlier five star review I posted on Houzz over a year ago. Even though the wonderful renovation of our 41 year old kitchen is now over a year and a half old, Georges, the owner, has on more than one occasion readily returned to our home to tweek some cabinet hinges which needed to be realigned. There was never a mention of warranty expiration - Tayna, our designer, made suggestions which were very helpful and then sent Georges to make some additional adjustments. We would use this company again in a minute if we have further renovation work in our future. Their workmanship cannot be beat. Carolyn D

My experience with these people was bizarre and unpleasant. SueAnn identified herself to me as a kitchen designer but never during our month long association did she produce a design. She suggested I move the wall between my kitchen and dining room over 2 feet - a good suggestion - but then said it could not be done because the wall was a supporting wall. This was after a visit from a man she identified first as her contractor and then as the owner. When I pointed out that the wall in question was merely a partition as the entire kitchen/dining room space had originally been a garage, she said that was impossible as a garage would have required a concrete floor and - from a review of the basement - the floor was wood. Finally, she suggested we retain the original (tiny) kitchen footprint; quoted a price of $65,000; and insisted that we proceed to choose cabinets. At this point I walked out. I had a real contractor and designer over this morning and they showed me the concrete floor under the wood in my dining room/kitchen, which was easily visible both from the basement and from a vent in the floor. The space had obviously been a garage and the wall in question was NOT a supporting wall. These people are either charlatans and liars or they are incredibly incompetent based on my experience with them.
