I went to this restaurant for an Ethiopian wedding. Large and beautiful hall. Large parking space, this is important because I live in DC and parking is a thing in DC. Food was awesome, I had the opportunity to taste raw meat. Loved it. Also drank the Ethiopian honey wine. Awesome

This was my first time visiting Dunya, for a wedding. The food was great and the ambiance was fantastic. I would love to visit the restaurant side one day, and bring friends !

If your cheap and looking to get fast food go to McDonald’s this place is not for cheap people. Not that it’s expensive they have great deals for the portion we got with free appetizers ( salads or soups) This is actually a restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy with your family. The plates are really big portion and everything we got was fresh. I’m really happy I came here to get dinner with my family everyone loved it and we will definitely be back sometime this month.

They have very bad service I went there with my family. They don’t have napkin , no cold drink , spoon wasn’t clean and plants. We told this guy to change our seat because that place was really cold. He didn’t help us. I wasted my money and tips. If you have good service then I would pay for it. When you don’t have good service why would we pay for it? Food was trash too. I will never go there anymore that’s it.

Yesterday my friend and I had dinner at Dunya banquet hall I have probably been on 10 other occasions prior to this. Although, this last particular visit stood out to me due to the all staff members going above and beyond, and really delivering exceptional service. While my friend notified the server of his allergy the manager came by and made absolute sure everything would be alright for him. Working in Restaurants previously for 6 plus years I thought this particular manager was very smooth and very classy in her approach. The manager and service staff did an excellent job of making both of us feel special. Great place if youre looking for great food and a nice atmosphere. Every single one of the dishes Ive tried have been absolutely amazing, fresh, and flavorful. Kitchen is wide open, which I respect and appreciate how clean and organized its kept. Staff is also very friendly and courteous. Make sure to make a reservation if its a weekend especially, since theyre quite popular and can get busy. In addition to all this as always the food was spectacular! Being a world traveling food enthusiast Dunya Banquet hall is a must visit when in the Northern Virginia area.

It’s really annoying when your servant underestimating you.Unfortunately this place turned to be one of the under average Afghan kabob places through the last 13 years when it was the best in town. You can see insects like ants spiders along the place. Also they charge you 25% automatically as a gratuity when you pay your check if you don’t notice that you will find yourself over paying your actual receipt so take care. I hope the owner which a nice guy to take care of this place. But for now I will not go there and will tell my family members and my friends not to go there until we see real changes to this restaurant.

I love their food here. real authentic Afghan kabobs and great service. my server Frank makes sure I have been taking cared of every time i go. Im definitely gonna be back soon.

The most horrific experience in my life !!! I had my wedding there on 9/4/21 . Owners are very unprofessional. They mistreated my guests during my wedding ceremony ! Where do I begin ??!!!!They threatened my guests and family members . Very ghetto and unprofessional. All they care about is you making the full payment and nothing else !!! Stay far far away from this place! It’a a recipe for disaster .

Would NOT recommend Dunya if you are going to take guests here. We made reservations a day in advance to take guests out to eat. The day of the event, I called just to confirm and they said they decided to close the restaurant early that day. NO call from them, NO notice.If I had not called them in advance, our guests and my family would have showed up during our reservation time to a closed restaurant. Lack of professionalism and care for customers.

Outstanding!!!!!! Amazing response to COVID. This is legit my all time favorite restaurant. This restaurant has always been top notch!! I have been there quite a few times. I’m Never disappointed always a great experience. From the food to the service to the atmosphere. When people take there time during the meal and stay after the meal is done because they enjoy every aspect its a place to come to. Delicious, authentic food in a beautiful environment. Ive had the lamb, beef, chicken, and veggie kabobs. All are amazing, as is the nan. Dine in service is friendly, while take out and left overs still taste great. I highly recommend!

Went for iftar. Place was over crowded and few tables with food. Huge lines like 40 or 50 people. Didnt get any dates to open fast. Food was refilled in bits and pieces so after first plate couldnt get any food. Despite disposable plates, no plates were there when needed. No fruits were served. No lemonade. Some concentrate or powdered mix was used to make orange and a blueberry drink. No social distancing. Jam packed. One of the highest buffet prices in the area and other places will offer more value than this place. Extremely disappointed. Have had menu ordered food and that is much better. After a full day of fast no one wants to be in a line of 50 people and then waiting for things to be refilled to fix a plate.

Tasty Afghan food in an Afghan American owned authentic restaurant. Large banquet hall available for weddings and other large events. Excellent service, diverse clientele, simple menu, but with lots of choices. Enough marketing for over 50!cars. Highly recommended!

Nothing special here. My thought is if you are going to open an ethnic restaurant you better be really good at it and this place felt like it just catered to the curious that dont know any better. The food wasnt terrible, but in American fare I would compare it to Applebees as far as standards and quality. Where they really lost me was in the evident lack of investment in renovation and ambiance of the restaurant. The plates were even plastic. You also should ask if there are any events booked before you head over as the music can be really loud in the dining area.

Delicious Traditional Food providing great service

I went with my friends, order for eat in and take out both, and the guy charged me $30 Tips, $15 for eat in and $15 for take out. we ask him you should not charge for tips for take out and this guys says its all included. I dont know why they charge tips for take out order? any one can tell me? Food was good but they put extra rice and only 1 kabab for $20. This is too much expansive.

Was very curious of the bad reviews but I always did believe what you see online is not always true, so I actually decided to go see for myself and I was truly happy I did the food was really authentic and the customer service was great they even have a Banquet Hall for Weddings and events and I was amazed by how it was designed this will always be one of my favorite restaurants due to the fact it seems to be they make the food with love!

Owner is very rude and unprofessional. I don’t recommend this place and I don’t wish the experience I had with one of the owner on my worst enemy.

We ate today at this restaurant and my brother found a lock of hair in the food. We called the server and told him. He immediately said no one has hair in the kitchen. He denied it was theirs and did not even apologised. Let alone the fact that the food quality has also gone down since we ate there last time. Will never go back.

My family and I decided to dine at Dunya and we have done so for many years and for this occasion celebrate my aunts birthday. To sum up our overall experience, Horrific. Any level of customer service was virtually nonexistent, servers were oblivious to any proper dining and service etiquette. When our entrees were served there was a clear indication that the food quality we had once enjoyed had been replaced with poorly made unsavory entrees. Towards the end of our meal we were all but eager to leave this inhospitable establishment and yet only one thing had stood in our way, the check. We had asked for the check and desperately waited for over 40 minutes until the waiter miraculously appeared with the dreaded check. To say the least, we were shocked, disappointed, and frustrated with the overall unimaginable experience and to that end we will not be returning. I will do my part to ensure my family, friends, and my colleagues are forewarned before they ever decide to step foot in the door.

We did a fundraising event here with over 200 people, words cannot describe how content I was with the service at Duniya Banquet hall. Hashem the owner put 110% effort when he saw I was concerned how the event will turn out. The serving staff was courteous & cooperative. The food was to die for! Not one guest complained about the food, in fact everyone complimented, the food was fresh! Do not wait and schedule your event here today!

Id say it was an overall great experience, the food was great and the waiters were polite, theyre also all in tuxedos so it gives sort of a banquet-ish feeling. The decor was also pretty good tbh.

I had the Qaubili Palau for lunch today and will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow because the portions of this delicious dish are huge. Hidden under a mound of rice with sweet carrot strips and raisins are large chunks of lean and tender lamb. The salad that accompanied the meal was fresh and crisp. I tried the Dogh drink for the first time and will order it again whenever I go back. The flat bread comes to you hot out of the oven. Different cultures have similar lamb and rice dishes, but this is the best Ive tasted and is reasonably priced at $16.

Worst customer service ever!! I have been going to this restaurant almost 10 years, they used to be one of my top restaurants but now its one of the worst restaurants!!! I will never go there ever again. They have zero COVID precautions, the servers nose is not included in their mask covers. They got the rudest servers on earth!! And the food is terrible. On top of that they charge you the most ridiculous prices. Please don’t go there and do NOT support a business that they have no respect to their customers and no precautions!

We tried to have Iftar at this place and plan a birthday party at the same time. The plan was to reserve a table for about 10 people but they said they won’t do reservations, only walk-ins. We said okay. We got there and at first they were not willing to give us a big table to accommodate all of us even though it was empty. After going back and forth they agreed to give us a big table. After that we go in to grab our iftar and here was the shock. There was no soup, the salad was very bad (some mix of shredded vegetables), there was only a couple types of food, and the meat ran out and they didn’t replace it. After all that you pay $28 a person!This place used to be good but the service and the food have deteriorated so much. Very disappointed.

Before program they are really nice with you, and they day of program they messed up your event totally. Bad customer services of restaurant. I brought my whole goat for party and they refused to give it to back me. Before they told me that whatever your food is left we will give you. They said they will provide hot tea and dessert and they did not. Totally miscommunication.

Iftar buffet was disappointing, there were no iftar items, and lamb was nowhere to be found on the menu. $27 is way too much for this type of buffet. Ive been to Sapphire in Tysons which is decent price but had good amount of variety on the buffet along with many iftar items.

First time here, I love the the food, the staff was super nice and attentive. I order one of the kabobas and wow I was impressed with the flavor and the homemade Naan was out of this world! The only downside was the bathroom wasnt as clean as I would expect. It may be because they are remodeling.I highly encourage you try there food, it embodies Middle Eastern cuisine!

I have been a patron of this restaurant since it first opened. I like the food but the taste varies at time, such as being too salty to eat. If you have an issue with dairy, you have to do everything you can to ensure they do not dribble yogurt on your food. Once, I went there over a holiday and although they said over the phone I could order from the menu, when we arrived, they said buffet only. The buffet food had a ton of variety but the quality of the food was not good and the cost of the buffet was way over priced. Therefore, while this place had good food l, it lacks in quality control. Cleanliness? They could do much better. I am govingnthisnplace only 3 stars.

Terrible service and ordered a deluxe(contains lamb, chicken, beef kabobs) kabob the other day and got a chicken kabob only told the waiter but wouldnt back down saying it is a deluxe kabob. I showed him the menu and pointed to menu which says what i was telling him but still says its a deluxe kabob i just left it was such a terrible experience

One of the best desi restaurants in the town, I dont know why its underrated, nice customer service and amazing food.

I like the setup and the customer service. Food is also very good and fresh but my only complaint is that why you mention beef in the menu when you don’t have it (just like every Afghan restaurant beef means lamb, I don’t know the logic somehow). Our family ordered chicken Kababs and beef Kababs with kabuli pulao but guess what beef Kababs were actually lamb Kababs.Other than that I like the ambiance, it feels like home 🙂

Large portions, excellent food, courteous and efficient service. Felt bad that we are only visiting and had no place to put all the extra food! We had the 4 person meal which was appetizers, entrees, sides and dessert. But what little we did take will be breakfast for us before we start sightseeing.

Terrible service. We bought a deluxe kabob which consist of all 3 meat but what we got just chicken. And to make matters worse is that they refused to acknowledge that its not a deluxe kabob. We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and never received service like this . Its sad actually

This place is good to dine in rather then take out. For 20 dollars you get combo kabob on the bread and comes with salad or rice on the side. When it comes to authenticity for afghani food this place comes somewhat close rather then the surrounding afghani restuarants.

Put it that way! most importantly the food and service was very authentic. I would recommend my family and friends 100%. Different kind of vibes ! Best Kabob I’ve had.. The owners are great and very friendly. The 3.8 does it no justice honestly. Come try it out and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

My family and I when here for my parents anniversary and the experience was splendid. We had a great time! After the owner found out we came for my parents anniversary they didn’t let us pay. Excellent food very affordably priced for the area. Not an expert on Afghan cuisine but the bread is great, the grilled meat kabobs succulent and tasty, rice perfectly cooked and seasoned, appetizers really good, and the vegetable soup (Aush) is hot and zesty. Bring a good friend and split the deluxe kabob with them. Your taste buds will thank you

We (me&wife) was there for dinner Sunday 8:45pm December 13th, as we seated a waiter swing by said we closing 9:15. We told him ok we are leaving now don’t need to eat here, then he apologized and said he doesn’t meant that.Online google shows their closing time is 10:00PMAs normal we got a small dinner our total amount was $35 including tip signed on the receipt, the next day afternoon when I check my online bank account they charged me $36.73 as the picture shown. I know it’s just about $2 extra than original amount but it’s not the right way to charge customers more than what agreed

Please don’t go to this restaurant. I don’t like to write bad reviews,but this restaurant has disappointed me. The food is pretty tasty I have to admit it, but their service is awful. The last time we did take out they charged us for an extra side of chickpeas and they did not include it in the order, and they didn’t apologize for the fact that we needed to go back to get it. To make matters worse, in another dish where lamb is the main ingredient they replaced lamb with beef and charged us the same amount. When we asked about the lamb dish they refused to admit that it was beef. I work in the food industry, so I know how lamb tastes and there was no doubt that our dish did not have lamb. So, please don’t go to this restaurant people, because they are not honest, they just want to take your money and give you whatever is best for them.

Its a bit small but a nice and comfortable place since you dont have a crowd of people around you, the service was very good. The meat was juicy and delicious, makes you want to come back. It is a nice hall, but the size is not big enough for a bigger crowd. But, if you are renting it for a private party or a social event, its a good place. The staff are nice and polite.Ive attended a couple events there and I enjoyed my time and the food that was prepared by the hall, I guess.

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere. I visit Dunya since they opened with friends and family and its one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Always friendly staff, and their cozy dishes cant seem to amaze. Its hard to choose a favorite dish, but the quabili palau and lamb chops are the best. My husband loves his kebabs so every time we dine in we enjoy this delicious food along with the best company. The owner and the managers are very kind and helpful and that make every experience pleasant.They have outside siting available if you want to enjoy some quite time, but the restaurant is safe and very clean inside and that gives me great comfort knowing my family is safe now during covid. Thank you all for your beautiful service. We love you and will always come in to enjoy your great food.

Good food, unfortunately poor service, all out of coke and other soft drinks

I just left Dunya had most shocking and horrible experience. They put 5 people right next to our table while the ENTIRE restaurant was empty. Totally irresponsible and shameful behavior. Please don’t even think about dining there, they don’t seem to know we are in a pandemic. This is after we called made sure they are socially distancing.

This place is quickly turning into one of my favorite restaurants to eat. The ambience / set up is unique and appealing. The food is amazing. And the staff are, by far, the best restaurant staff Ive had the pleasure of interacting with. I would definitely recommend the Chicken and the naan with white sauce (in that order). I have heard about the restaurant before, but didn’t have the chance to try it until now! Fresh, authentic and tasty food! Reasonable price and friendly staff! Good for those who have never tried Afghan food try this !! Thank you!! For the authentic food, beautiful set up and professional service.
