They are not a good. Shop they ruined brand new paint job on an old 76 Camaro of mine. The paint was scratched deep enough to show the underlying primer. There were dents all over the body. There was sand and junk inside of the car indicating that they had left it sitting exposed to the elements for the duration of its stay. Don’t take your vehicles here. These guys are not professionals.

King Kong is the only place in town that would take on a project of adding a Passive Keyless Entry and Push Button Start on my 2014 Mustang over a Compustar system, because of the perceived toughness of the project. They were also the only place in town that I could find who would work to do the prep and paint work on TPO plastic. In the end they pulled everything off flawlessly. They also clear coated carbon fiber parts, installed a new rear deck, front and rear camera system and replaced weatherstripping. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful, and personally delivered my car to multiple locations. I worked with Chris, who is a great person, even personally went to PepBoys to warranty a bad battery I purchased prior to the start of the project. Ill update the post with pictures of the interior work when I have some time to take them. All in all great people to work with!

Worst business! Do not trust them with your vehicle. This place is a scam. I brought my vehicle in to have them fix a simple issue. Not only did they not fix it they didn’t bother telling me that they couldn’t fix it. I had to call to check on it after they had it for 5 hours for them to tell me oh yeah we have no idea what’s wrong. When were they going to tell me!? After they were about to close so they could get the most money possible out of me? SCAMMERS!!

Don’t recommend.. I spent 1,000’s on a system that didn’t sound right when I went back for them to fix it they tried telling me a speaker was blown. Got a second opinion from “Mesa Audio”They said no speaker was blown and it was wired wrong he had re wired it for me for only $20

I took two of my vehicles here. Very good experience. A couple of hiccups but they did me right and took care of me. Shop local and you’ll see the difference. A bit pricey but I feel I got a good value. Don’t forget you get what you pay for. I’ll update review if anything changes. A++

Very nice interaction, bought a system for the new Tundra, lucked up and they had everything I needed in stock. Price was reasonable compared to past experiences with other car audio shops. Install will be next week and Ill revisit this review after that with an update.

I would recommend this place! I recently took my vehicle here for a remote start to be installed and something came up out of our control that didn’t let us do what I wanted to. I live in FLORIDA, Kurt and the boys at King Kong customs, helped me with some serious issues with a build in my semi that I had done here locally in Florida. Every time I have/had an issue, they were right there on the other side of the line, helping me fix the problem-I no longer deal with any other audio shop for any of my vehicles audio needs, except for King Kong, yes, this means I travel almost 2000 miles, just to have them work on my rides!

Worst place in Albuquerque! Spent $1k on alarm system only to have them short out the electrical system on my vehicle. While waiting for the install I could hear the employees bragging about the meth they did before, couldnt wait to do more and where they would get it. No wonder these people screwed my electrical system up to the point that I had to have my vehicle towed to mechanic for repair. Contacted owner, who denied any responsibility for damage/repairs, denied what I told him I overheard employees saying about doing drugs, and Im out the $$ spent on the alarm system that doesnt work. Do yourself a favor, NEVER consider giving your business to this place.

Very un professional! I was told By the owner my 1500 stereo system would be completed by the end of the day . I showed up and the work was not done, and my vehicle had 2 new dents! To make matters worse the young lady that was suppose to refund me charged my card twice! I am currently still 2 days later waiting on my refund! The owner has terrible customer service skills, and will never earn my family or friends business!

They put a remote start... now the blinkers dont work and other things not working... they say they did nothing wrong...

Headlights and caliper covers installed within the same day. Spoke with, both, Francisco and Rick and they were super friendly. Not only was my vehicle completed shortly after I got off work, but it was done at a price pretty close to what I was quoted before the job. This was just the first of MANY upgrades I plan on doing to this vehicle, so Ill definitely be heading back to King Kong.

Excellent customer service. Needed specialized power-train work and they were very detailed and upfront about time frame and cost. My car is over 45 years old so I dont trust it to just anyone, I am going back for a stereo that wont require any cutting. They understand and didnt try to talk me into something I said I didnt want like Audio Express did.

Had a Clifford alarm and under carriage led lights installed, $1500.00, on my Jeep. First bump I hit, part of my dash came apart and I saw it had been broken. I took it back and they said it must have been broken before they worked on it. It wasnt, They were so rude about it that we almost got into a physical fight. Instead I told them how I felt and left. First time I went off road, the under carriage lights stopped working. About three months later, my electrical system shorted out causing significant damage. I found out the short was caused by the alarm system being improperly installed, they had run the wires through a part of the hood where they were pinched, after vibrating it wore through the wire insulation. If they are getting GOOD REVIEWS, it must be from their own employees and friends. I was and am totally unsatisfied.CHEAP SHOT, the post button would not appear UNLESS I HIT AT LEAST ONE STAR!!! They are actually minus 5 stars!

Dont trust the public rating of this place. Clearly most (if not all) of the positive reviews are fake. When in doubt, look for the star under the reviewers profile picture to ensure that a place of business has been truthfully reviewed by a Google Local Guide. In this case, King Kong Customs doesnt have any positive reviews that should warrant your attention.

Always got good service and helpful and some of the best prices. They are good with alarms, sound systems, you name it they probably can do it to your ride. They have worked on all my trucks and cars.

Great knowledge of installation of audio equipment. The bad thing is trying to go on a Saturday morning. If you do, expect to wait half to a full day as Saturdays are their busiest. I got there at 10 AM as soon as they opened and they told me there was a wait and to come back around 12 noon. I came back at noon and didnt actually get my vehicle in until 2:15. Other than that, the price is definitely worth the wait. The finished install was very nice and clean.

I brought 3 different rides here and each was something different with problems. First was alarm and a way to unlock the f550 that they qouted me. They put poppers and had no way to lock doors. They then charged over 100 more. It could have been misunderstood so i had them put remote locks on it. Later i brought them my custom civic and dodge ram to update alarms and poppers. The civic already had poppers and i just wanted to get a updated set. They disconnected my inside handles so if the main fuse blows which did because of air ride you have no way to get out. The dodge i just asked them to put the poppers i bought from them and put them in the back suicide doors of the dodge and wanted the buttons on the door lock spot. They put tge buttons up front so it takes 2 people to open the passenger back door along with the popper being put in the speaker location on one of my doors. They do awesome work if you have very deep pockets but unfortunately for me 3 strikes and i was out. Aloha

Fransisco helped me pick out a nice Pioneer stereo in less than 10 minutes. Then he gave me a little hook up on the price and got me scheduled for install the next morning. I was in a rush to get to my next appointment and they all made it a point to get my car done as soon as possible. The stereo sounds great. The guys at King Kong do good work and look out for their customers.

I came here to get 6 new speakers, a sub, an amp, a sub box and a new touch screen installed in my 350z. The prices are double what I was quoted by Audio Express and another lesser known company, but I was assured that their service was superior so I went with them anyways and now I regret it. I hate the placement of my screen and it’s having issues 2 days out. My box was done wrong so I had to go back to have a new one made. They admitted their fault and redid it, however the second one is wrong too so I’m just going to do my business elsewhere with a company more capable now that I will need a 3rd custom box made. I spent over $1600 here, so I expected to be treated better. A lot, not all, of the staff were very rude and not helpful at all. I’m just really appalled at how they can stay in business if this is the way customers are treated. I would not recommend them.

Came in for a car alarm to be installed.. They say it takes 4 hours but thats a lie. It takes closer to 7, so bring it in the morning if you need an alarm. A family member had the same experience. The workers said theyd call when it was done, but we had to call to check up if it was done to confirm the job was complete. Unprofessional. When we went to pick it up, the workers were all chatting instead of giving us their attention to get our vehicle back. They were nice people, but should be more professional. In the end, at least they got the job done well, but I wouldnt go here again or reccommend to anyone.Edit: They left a weird white residue on the interior plastic and a big greasy handprint on the backdoor window. Unacceptable.

My wife brought her van here to get an auto starter installed for the winter mornings. The staff was friendly and they did a solid job with the install. Prices were cooperative and they knew what they were talking about. Id recommend for sure.

Terrible service bordering on incompetence. Ordered the wrong equipment, installed it anyway, sent me home with a janky dash. Had to wait a week for the right part and I had to call them because they kept forgetting to call me. They also just complete forgot to order the correct wiring harness for my backup camera and havent gotten back to me on when theyre ordering that in two weeks, so I just have no backup camera and they still want me to pay for them to fix that. It doesnt matter though, Ill be going to someone else to fix that even if it costs more.

Very happy start to finish with the purchase and installation of the BakFlip MX4 bed cover on my new GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. Sal, the incredibly patient and helpful salesman, helped me order exactly what I was looking for, and then presto it was delivered and installed the very next day. Every member of the King Kong team was extremely helpful from Francisco the owner to the aforementioned Sal. to Jose who showed me how to operate the BakFlip.The installer was great, sorry I missed his name.

The quality of work this guys do is amazing. The one big issue I have is with the short guy Francisco. He was rude and he even told my kid when asking for a quote ask me about the speakers when you have the Money quote. That is just not professional all, and I hope Kurt( the owner ) will see that Francisco is bad apple for his business. This service with as horrible. This place was recommended to me by multiple people including who I bought my car from. So I take it in to have the radio fixed and decided I was going to get a credit card to pay for that and a system before anything was done to the car. So I leave my car there and they rewire the radio but dont put any of the clips back on and now I have to continuously push my radio back in because it falls out while Im driving. Then I take the car in for the system not too worried about it. Well needless to say they told me it would take no more than 4 hours because it was one of the first ones. It took longer than that. So when we got my car back I drove it home and then I had parked it and went to turn it back on not even 2 minutes later to show off the system and the car HAD NO POWER. I called the store and they kept insisting that it was something to do with the car and not the work Itself that they did. After arguing on the phone for about an hour they said they would have someone come look at my car and see why it has no power. The guy finally shows up at 8pm and when he gets there he starts checking everything and doesnt know why it has no power. He said everything looks fine on the car and is testing fine but still cant figure it out. Finally he touches the ground cable and noticed it was loose and when he touched it the car got power for maybe 5 minutes long enough for the guy to pack up and leave and didnt fix what they had messed up. So of course I am not happy. Had to pay someone to fix the issue and then the system fried the wires for my battery and other wires for the car which made it to where I couldnt drive the car. I had to pay someone again to fix it because I couldnt get ahold of someone at this shop to see if they could since it was caused by them. So since not being able to get ahold of anyone I naturally file a dispute and the guy calls so Im talking to the guy and he is really rude not listening to what Im saying cutting me off and arguing with me about the work his guys did on the car. The guy I spoke to, Kurt, tried blaming all of their mess ups on the car itself and wouldnt take responsibility for the work his guys did. I will not recommend this place to anyone and in fact I will tell people to go to Audio Express instead because they do a better job and in a timely fashion.

Locally-owned and operated, Kurt (the owner) and his staff are great! I had them do my audio system, including custom LEDs and box (behind the seats in a 350z Roadster) and it looks and sounds great! Installed my body kit and they have backed up their products and install job with free follow-up service when Ive needed it. Cant ask for a better shop, WAY WAY WAY better than Audio Express (where the deck I had installed would pop out if I hit a speed bump at 10 mph.

I had a stereo and 2 12 inch subs installed on my Dodge Avenger at the beginning I liked the service I experienced when I came into the store I had been talking with audio express and electric avenue and weighing out my options on where to have my work done I chose here and it was a mistake I wish I didn’t when I dropped my vehicle off they told me 3 hours I gave them 5 and when I got back I was happy with the work after seeing it the next day I noticed all my plastic flooring was not put right back it was still hanging up I was very upset I paid over a grand for this work and something as little as that ruined it I went back to the store I was talking to francisco the whole time when I went back to talk to him he said he would look at the vehicle I went down the street and gave the about 30 min I came back and the issue was the same the plastic was not back right after trying to explain to Francisco my vehicle was not like that before he insisted that it was and that “ I should know my vehicle “ me and him went back in circles about the issue and he proceeded to tell me the same thing with a smirk eventually I told him I am done talking to him if he is going to insist he is right and I will wait i for the owner he was already on his way to speak with me because the issue was not resolved just bigger I got in my car and told him I will wait I am done talking to him he told me I could get off the property which the owner stated he can not because I have my business and money here I spoke with the owner and he said he would set up with installation manager Which never happened recently my amp has been going out every 20 min I am here today and they are saying I need spacers and this and that about the stereo it has been a hard time here and I will never choose to have anything done here again they have 250amp with 12 inch subs 2 they are rude and very lazy with there work you will be better off choosing another place then to trust King Kong customs with valuable work I’ve had rescheduled on so many times for something so little and I don’t know if the issue will be resolved first review I ever wrote very unhappy with the work of these people for the price the manager is rude and unprofessional and I just want my issue resolved so I don’t come back I have receipts and will take this further I’ve now been waiting more than an hour for some spacers in the waiting room full of ants

King Kong has installed alarms and radios on all our work trucks. They also have little led blue lights that turn on when you lock your vehical to deter thieves. Great service and great prices.

I would be careful in trusting the reviews for this company (not like I did) before going here for custom work. I had to return to this place 4 different times. Quality of work was well below average, Customer Service was marginal, Company Integrity was Poor.Original Service Requested:To have a 52 Light Bar installed on the roof of my truck, with electrical wiring sent to a pre-installed switchReturn Experience Trip #1Sun Visors were installed on opposite sides - After original return of the vehicle after getting the Light Bar installed, the Sun Visors on the headboard were reversely installed, on opposite sides. This is laziness of the technician, and is a sign of a rushed-incomplete job. After returning to get the sun visors fixed, I was then lied to by a technician, I never even touched the sun visors (implying the consumer [me] must have installed them incorrectly). For those of you that are unaware, in order to install a light bar, you need to drill into the roof to bolt down the light bar. In order to gain access to the bottom side of the metal portion of the roof, you have to remove the headboard. In order to remove the headboard, you have to remove the sun visors and side plastic panels. This was poor craftsmanship, unprofessional of a technician not admitting mistakes, and quite frankly, laziness. Sun Visors were installed correctly after returning vehicle.Return Experience Trip #2:Improper Power Switch Wiring - The second time I had to return to the shop, was due to the incorrect wiring of a light switch that turned on and off the Light Bar. I pre-installed a switch that has two lights inside the switch: the bottom light in the switch illuminates when you turn on the parking lights, the top light in the switch is suppose to turn on when the unit under power [the light bar] is turned on. I asked this company to wire this switch so that the top light in the switch illuminates when the Light Bar is turned on. Had to return to this shop because top light in switch was not wired correctly, and did not turn on when light bar power was on. Issue was not corrected this time, technician did not know how to wire the switch, and had to return when the lead technician was in.Return Experience Trip #3:Needed Lead Technician to Wire Switch - Had to return a third time so that the switch could be wired correctly. For those that dont know, it is fairly easy to wire a switch with a relay, and is considered Basic Electrical KnowledgeReturn Experience Trip #4:Light Bar Roof Mounts Leaking Inside vehicle - Had to return a FOURTH time due the interior headboard being soaked from the first rainstorm in Albuquerque after the light bar was installed. Technician did not glue and seal the roof mounts properly and led to interior water damage on the headboard and side panel. Outcome - Different technician had to drop headboard, remove previous seal, uninstall and reinstall roof bolts, and then seal the mounting brackets properly.Current Defect:Light Bar Power Cable is loose and is now swinging freely - The glue used to hold the power cable to the Driver Side Windshield Rail (the route of the power cable into the Hood of the Car) was sub-par and since a month ago the cable has become loose and is now openly swinging in the wind and is causing stress to the Grommet on the Light Bar. I will NOT return to this company to get this fixed and will fix the glue and cable on my own.I (probably like most of you) trust reviews of other people before hiring a company to do a service. I personally made a mistake trusting the reviews on Google with this company, Im not sure if maybe I just had a bad experience, or if this company writes their own reviews, nor am I going to accuse this company of doing so, but the fact of the matter is: I suggest that you do not go to this company for Custom Work.I will not return to King Kong Custom Audio & Accessories, Be careful when trusting the reviews for this company, and be ready to receive less than adequate service and work.

Good people to know when you need automotive repairs and services

Not a great experience....First, the speakers sound okay, but for ~$330, I would have liked slightly more audio quality. Second, I have come in two times and have not had my issues resolved yet. I came in first to have the speakers installed, and was told they have a full warranty, and then, when I picked up the car I was told that the manufacturer would replace them but King Kong would not, and so I then had to argue with the guy, and eventually got the extra warranty for $20, but then, I got the car and the battery was dead, a perfectly good battery run down in the shop. They jumped it, and then it worked okay, but then I got home and noticed a ding on my car, and went in and was told they would clean it up and replace a speaker that had went out in less than a week. They did that but the guy there constantly nagged me about that they didnt ding it, but that his boss just offered to have it done. I pick up the car after 2 hrs later than they said it would be done, and the battery was dead AGAIN, a like new battery, and so it was jumped, and I went to my mechanic and they told me I will have to have it replaced, I replaced it for ~$130, and now I am noticing something rattling when base is on, not the speakers, but something they loosened rattling, and the interior trim and back seat are really loose and starting to come off, so ~$460 in and my car has worse sound then originally due to buzzing, and interior trim issues, and a ding that was not fully touched up. I am not happy with this place.

Ive been a customer there for a couple years, and the owner has always been pretty cool, thats why two stars instead of one. This rating is based on my most recent visit. I purched a used truck and the previous owner of the truck told me the stereo wasnt hooked up to the antenna, the backup camera wasnt working, and his son had messed with the deck and it could be installed wrong.I took the truck in and asked them to fix it and asked about how much it would cost to fix the wiring, fix the camera, and change the wiring on my light bar from being used with the brights to just be on the switch. he said could be 30 minutes, could be an hour. Not really sure, might cost you $30, might cost you 100.Im thinking 100 isnt bad to fix it so we make an appointment 10am the next morning. I drop it off, and around 1230 I was called and informed the camera was broken and would be $220 to fix with a license plate camera, so I said no thanks, just fix the rest.When I go to pick up the truck that afternoon he tells me it could be the wiring for the camera is messed up somewhere but the radio and deck is all wired up and and the light bar is rewired to a switch instead of my high beams. I also noticed a new small dent on my running boards and ask if something hit it and he said I dont think so. I shrug it off and we go inside to pay. He charges me for an hour and a half and he discounted the hourly 5 bucks. Came out to 120 total. Im already thinking thats a little more than I wanted to spend, but ok its all fixed. I pay and leave.On the way home more of the radio stations werent being picked up than before, so I call and ask if they might not have wired the radio to the antenna. Their response was its wired but the antenna is probably bad its $44 for an antenna extender I asked him how thats possible on a 2012 and if I was getting the stations before why Im not getting them now I also told him I just paid 120 dollars to have the deck fixed and Im getting it back in worse condition than it was before. He says we spent two and a half hours on your light bar and only charged you for one and a half, if you want us to fix the radio we can, but it will cost you more.When it came down to it they basically charged me 120 to rewire a light bar, tell me the backup camera wiring is bad, and put a small dent in the running boards. I already knew the camera wasnt working, and had I known it would be that much to change some wiring Id have just left it the way it was.I wont be going back nor recommending the shop to anybody in the future.

Went in for a replacement alarm. The old viper started to act up and going off constantly for no reason. Left the truck with them and with some miscommunication 8 shop hours later I got the alarm and backup camera in with some compensation for my lost time. Looked under the truck and wiring was nicely run and the technician used paper floor cover and seat covers while working. Still some issues with the alarm and they are working with no charge to get it right.

Did a great job on wifes Prius. Told us not to get autostart on hybrid. I appreciate that. Clifford alarm shows up nice at night
