I went to Rio Grande Automotive because a friend had referenced me there. I took it in for a complete strut replacement for my front two wheels as well as a full alignment. The price was extremely fair and the quality of work was fantastic. Also the work was finished the very next day. They have a warranty on all of their repairs and they do honor it. A great automotive shop with great employees and you can trust them with your vehicle!

I made an appointment to get an alignment as they were getting ready to do my alignment they said oh we found some problems on your vehicle so I said whats the problems theyre saying my bearings were loose my steering rod outer was bad so I said how much would it cost to fix they said $1,000 I said thats too much so I got a second opinion I went to the master touch automotive they said everything was fine they dont know what theyre talking about theyre trying to get me to replace stuff on my vehicle that didnt need to be replaced so they can make money that is not a very good professional business I dont think Im ever going to go to Rio grande automotive again so master touch automotive got me alignment a place where they go and I got taken care of and I didnt have to spend $1,000 and I didnt have to replace parts that didnt need to be replaced Im never going to rio grand automotive people do not go there theyll get you to replace stuff that dont need to replace so they can make money Im talking about rio grand automotiveP.s Rio Grand automotive charge me 30 dollars for nothing they didnt even do any work just to look at my vehicle and to tell me I need a bunch of stuff replaced

For about 5 years, Rio Grande Automotive has exceeded my expectations in performing three important tasks: keeping my familys high-mileage cars in great working order, charging us significantly lower rates than the dealerships and most other auto repair shops, and providing great customer service during the entire process. A time or two, I entrusted my vehicles to one of those franchise auto repair shops owned by an out-of-state corporation, but always ended up with mediocre service and questionable work. Billy runs the kind of local auto repair shop that everyone wants: always honest about what work needs to be done, how long he expects it will take to fix it, and how much it will cost. Rio Grande Automotive is great customer service for a great price by a local professional. Three words sums it up: ALWAYS. DONE. RIGHT.

As a woman with limited knowledge about cars, i was hesitant about taking my vehicle to the mechanic but with many recommendations on nextdoor and positive reviews on yelp i trusted Rio Grande Automotive with my 01 Nissan Sentra. I was provided an estimate by Andrew, and told that my car would be ready in three days. after a lack of communication, i received a call where Andrew stated that they must keep my car for two more days. after the the two days, due to a conflict in schedule, my mom went in to pick up my car and they said that its STILL not finished. A phone call wouldve been nice prior to my moms arrival. additionally they stated, i must pay and bring it back on Monday. at this point theyve had my car for an entire week and expressed no concern for my schedule or the inconvenience. My mom pays for the vehicle, unknowingly charged over two hundred dollars more than what was agreed upon in the estimate over the phone. when this was brought up with Andrew and the owner, Billy, they were unwilling to adjust to the promised price, while displaying extremely unprofessional behavior and mannerism.Important:I was told my car was not a priority which was the reason it took over twice as long as was promised. after a quick search on google, i discovered i was over charged for the majority item fixed in my car, while being promised discounts on labor because they were already in the car to fix it. additionally, i was charged for items in my car without my prior approval, even though i expressed budget concerns upfront. i feel completely taken advantage of and scammed by Rio Grande Automotive and would not recommend that anyone ever step foot in this shop for their own health and well-being. (None of the mechanics were wearing masks even though a sign requiring customers to wear masks is clearly posted in the shop.)

They were not very honest they told me my clutch was leaking and they couldnt do an alignment until the clutch was fixed. They stumbled for words when they told me this. I knew they were not honest with me at that point. I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and they told me nothing was wrong with my clutch. Stay away.

My son was very happy with the replacement of the pressure oil sensor. The vehicle was taken 3 times to the dealership twice to Larry H hyundai on Lomas and once to Casa on coors and still not running correctly. The car was picked up from Rio Grande Automotive yesterday and my son says so far car is running great. The people on the phone were very polite and professional, didnt upcharge and warranty provided. I would recommend this place for anyone needing mechanic work. I am selling my car to my daughter and wanted to make sure all was well. Andrew was extremely professional, had the car inspected very thoroughly, and didnt charge a penny. He told me the brakes needed replacing and I will do that here next week. I think this place has an honest professional work ethic, and for me, is a real find. I will be having any and all work done here from now on. I finally had the brakes done; Andrew kept me informed of what was found on inspection and what the cost would be. There was no up selling which I appreciate; the work was done on time and the price was very fair. I will always recommend Rio Grande Automotive.

We were driving back home from Utah and ended up stranded in Albuquerque. Everyone at Rio Grande Automotive were really nice and personable. They took care of our car and quickly got us back on the road. Phil made sure we had the greatest experience possible!

Rio Grande Automotive was recommended to me from another mechanic. So I called ahead of time to set up an appointment to have my vehicle looked at. The man who answered the phone took my name and stated I was all set up for an early morning appointment in a couple days. On the morning of the appointment I called to inform the shop that the I was running late because of multiple unforseen accidents on the highway but was still in route, they said it was fine and to still bring it by, however never asked my name or confirmed that I had an actual appointment.I show up about 20-30 minutes late (my fault) and they said that they could get to look at my vehicle in a few hours. There was no appointment book in sight, in fact the man at the front desk started to take my information on paper before informing me that there would be a wait. I assumed that they had my info since I set up an appointment ahead of time. Since this being my only form of transportation we both came to the agreement it would be best to bring it back the next day. Again, I observed that he never wrote down my info an any appointment book.To this day I have never received a call back to see if I was still interested in having my vehicle inspected. This is probably due to the fact there is a non existent appointment book. I guess these guys are so busy and/or disorganized that they dont need my business. I took my business down the way to DOX auto repair and they gladly set me up an actual appointment and have since successfully completed a good amount of work on my vehicle.Unfortunately I couldnt really give you a review based on the quality of work but if communication and structure means anything to you, expect to be disappointed when you come to Rio Grande Automotive.

Excellent repair shop with some of the best prices around, probably the best in Albuquerque. Went to them for 2-3 years, but switched to a mechanic that was closer to me for the last few years. I plan to switch back to them. Wish they were closer, but theyre worth the extra distance. Stand up crew that works there. AAA+++

Customer service from the jump was great! Phil and Andrew answered all my questions and kept me in the loop at all times. I ran into a problem with a major chain company offering oil changes because a mechanic stripped the oil plug on my car when he completed my oil change. To say the least it was time to change my oil and they mechanics at the same place could not complete the task. I was referred to Rio Grande Automotive and these men saved my car.

I am fixing my car , bought new tires. Needed my car to be align. Found this shop on here and decided to take my car there and try out local. Called on Monday to bring my car in on Wednesday morning @ 8am when they open. I am a single mom with a full time job , have to be at work by 930am latest . Got there , NO CAN DO !there is no such things as appointments you can only Drop off your car for a couple of hours, like a got a rental ! Dont recommend if your on a LIFE SCHEDULE. THE MAN was polite but a waste of my morning

I took my F150 in to get the turbo replaced. It should take 6 hours of labor according to the ford repair manual. I dropped it off Monday morning at 9 am, at 5 pm on Friday they were still working on my truck. (5 days later) During the week they test drove it and broke the drive shaft. (trying to race or pull something is my guess) The owner never admitted how they broke it. He refused to pay for the repair. I landed up paying for a new drive shaft the he broke. I do NOT recommend this shop in any way. They do terrible work and dont take responsibility for their actions.OMG! The owner replied to my review. Read below everyone!!! My vehicle had no broken bolts. Look at the paperwork Einstein. I was charged $500 for a drive shaft that retails for $300. We spoke on the phone but the owner argued with me for a good 20 minutes. I guess he thought we were on the same page. NO, we were not. I paid the extra $500 to shut him up. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! The owner is unprofessional and argumentative.

Reasonable prices, good service, and possibly the worlds first honest mechanics. Was getting ready for a big roadtrip and took in my 6 year old van to make sure there were no issues. I left them with the instructions to replace/fix anything that might possibly become an issue... pretty much an open checkbook. At the end of the day I was told apologetically Sorry man, we couldnt find anything to charge you for!. Paid a small inspection fee and went on my way.

So far Rio Grande has my approval. I made a phone call and was answered all my questions and everything was clear. I have not been there in person yet. However I was treated with respect and a little bit of knowledge on my Corvette at the same time. I noticed some negative comments on the company and wanted to put this out there. 5 star from me.

I took my car for an alignment and they left my steering wheel crooked, which wore out my new tires within two months. When I brought it to their attention they told me it was my doing not theirs. Poor service.

I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, their prices are insane, they charge $100/hr, way way higher than other places Ive been to, they charge people dishonestly for labor they dont do, the only reason I went there is because it was close but I will never come back there. Also the receptionist guy is a jerk he doesnt know how to give good customer service, very unprofessional people, find another shop. Stay way from this one.

These folks are honest and well-trained. They know what they are doing and they tell you up front what needs to be done. They dont add on extra things and they dont up-sale to folks who may not know the intricacies of automobiles. The actual costs are right on the mark with the estimate they give; and they tell you exactly how long it will take to make the repairs.

We have taken our 2005 Dodge Pickup to Rio Grande Auto for several repairs over the last few years. They always do a great job at reasonable rates and fast service.

Called for a quote. would never give them my business. heres why: was recommended i call because their labor prices were fair. theyre not-$90/hr. also was way higher than what recommended person said rates were. they also give you a quote based on an estimate of how long it would take to do the labor. i am not sure where they got their estimates from, but the professional mechanics video i watched took an hour to do the job (no edits). they said it would take them 3.5 hours to complete. now. it was brake work i needed (tough job) but car in the video was 9 years older than my car & way more visible rust to deal with. last, they charge you the quoted amount regardless of how much time it takes them to do the labor - whether more or less. when i asked how that was fair guy said, sometimes you win. sometimes we win. either way, it all works out. for who?! anyone with common sense knows this means they take peoples money whose jobs take less than the estimated time, charging them dishonestly for labor they never did and using that money they make to cover their expenses so for the people autos who take longer than the estimated time. good luck to all you out there who decide to play the estimated labor time gamble with rio grande automotive.

Wow. A review should be about service received and your business experience. I have been coming to Rio Grande Automotive for 8 years, since they started. Billy has always treated me with utmost respect and has been completely honest. I have been charged a third of dealership quotes on everything. To leave a negative review because you saw somebody fix your car on Youtube in an hour and your upset that they charge by the book instead of charging you actual time spent is not helpful. All shops charge by the book or we would be paying a million dollars for an oil change done by a 97 year old that moves at the pace of parked. These guys know what they are doing and arent going to take you for a ride. They do excellent work and have never regretted sending everyone I know there.

Took my Tacoma to get a simple front brake replacement and one of their techs disconnected my brake line from the caliper while putting on the new brake pad. Didnt make sense why he did that. Next morning I had brake fluid under my right tire and none in the brake fluid reservoir. Billy was apologetic about it but a mistake like that, while driving on the freeway after I picked up in the morning, could have put my family and I in a dangerous situation. Never will return again.
