I live in NJ, and my daughter is a UAlbany student whose cars radiator cracked. Tom from service was EXTREMELY helpful. Understanding that I do not live in the area, he worked with me to repair the car, kept in constant contact with me and made me feel like I have someone in the area that I can trust if my daughter has any future car issues or ever gets stranded. He went above and beyond and made me 150 miles away (and my daughter) feel at ease. Kudos to him and the staff, and I recommend any UAlbany students that need car assistance to give him a call.

Best place and price for oil change and inspection! Just check their website for coupons first! Speak to Tom or Jay for your vehicle maintenance and they will happily assist you with your needs! If you have coupons they will gladly redeem it for you!

Great Parts& Great Service!!! Mike followed same great Service that Tom delivered. Identified a problem with my strut during my annual inspection that I had tried to have fixed twice already (at a competitor across the street but gave up thinking the fix was as good as it would get). Pep Boys installed it right I could tell an immediate suspension improvement when I drove away (felt like a new car).

Employees don’t wear masks. I saw 3 of them with masks pulled down below mouths. What’s the point? I should have just left. Made me very uncomfortable! I let them service my car and they did a good job with that but they should be wearing masks. You should make your customers feel safe. Probably won’t go back.

Has an appointment for an oil change and they had me wait almost two hours to find out my car was still parked outside

I went in to see if I could have the codes read for the check engine light that just came on in my car. The guy running the service desk had a face mask on his chin (NOT covering mouth or nose) and told me it would be $100 just to pull the codes. Maybe I’m misunderstanding something but I checked multiple times and the Pep Boys website says this is a service they provide for free. To his credit, he did tell me I could go down the road to Autozone where they would check the code for free, which I did. Won’t be going back to this Pep Boys location anytime soon.

I went there today to have four new tires put on my Honda. We had a problem with the credit card. But the gentleman helping me I think his name was Larry or Garry I really can’t remember was so helpful in figuring it out it took some time but he got it done. Also the other gentleman at the counter which I did not get his name let me borrow his cell phone charger. And the tires came out perfect thanks guys. Keep up the great customer service I will definitely be back.Also I was told it would take two hours but they got me in and out in one hour.Because of the gentleman at the .counter.

I ordered a part online and got a confirmation email that said my part was ready for pickup. I live 45 minutes away but this is the only place I could find it. The next day I get to the store and the employee says they dont even carry the product and cant get it from Any other of their stores. He also told me it happens alot and doesnt know why. All they did was get my credit card info and waste an hour and a half of my time.

Pretty awful service at the Albany NY location. No one answers the phone. Showed up just to get a scan of my warning light codes. Should take 2-4 minutes. Told I need to make an appointment. Then told I had to leave the car for the day. Supervisor complained that it was because too many employees took off for vacation (which is a management problem). Then told they couldn’t get to it and to come back next week! Go literally anywhere else.

I needed to return something and I didnt realize you had to go to the pepboys you bought and it the woman was very rude well I didnt sell it to you! And just very passive agressive....seemed offended I wanted to return an item

Dropped my truck off at 8:30 in the morning on my way to work to have a valve stem repaired did not get my vehicle back till about four 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and upon inspection found out that a brand new set of wheels That I put on my truck now has one wheel that has been majorly scratched up and gouged up by their tire technician and their tire machine seems like professionalism just went out the door and no one cares about other folks properties or timelines or schedules one valve stem repair should take half an hour at most in my vehicle wasn’t back to me in nine hours and was given back to me with one damaged wheel very very sad tire technician shop I would not recommend this place to anyone especially if you have aftermarket nice wheels and you want to keep them that way if I could give them a -5 star they would get it

I usually have no issues at Pep boys went there to get my flat tire looked at to see if I had a nail or screw in it. After waiting almost 2 hours I went to inquire about what was going on and found out that they havent even looked at it yet!!! One of the technicians overlooked my paperwork. The only employee there that saved me from losing my mind was Garry who actually knew what he was doing, he had the other guy that was working with him get someone on it right away, he has great customer service and gave me a discount for having to wait all that time. This location is lucky to have him employed there!! In my opinion he deserves a raise!!!! And also thank you to Tom for his customer service while I was waiting.

From my experience. I love pepboys. Ive got my tires, My rotations, oil changes and brakes done here. Everytime they have been efficient and courteous. Making online appointments are easy and I have not had any issue. My car got a flat on the highway. I am a rewards member called for a tow... took awhile but they towed me to pepboys for a GREAT price. Fixed the flat picked up my car in the morning. Most recently I dropped my car off on A SUNDAY evening, didnt know what was wrong. They told me they were super busy couldnt get to it until maybe Wednesday. Next morning told me I needed a new battery and by noon my car was ready! Thankful they are there when I need them !!

I honestly decided to make it known publicly by me posting the experienced I had when I visited pep boys with postal address located on central avenue albany. I was due for inspection on my vehicle. Driving by I spotted PEP BOYS facility and opted to pull into their premises. A little bit hesitant tho since it was my first time to do business with them. Since I owned an old model vehicle, I was already anticipating for some unwanted sales talk to get into which is I would say becoming normal these days. Walked in and was greeted by a great GENTLEMANl with a sweet charismatic smile! Named: BRETT! I expressed myself Why I was in their facility... The moment BRETT opened his mouth I heard, observed and as the conversation started to carry on the more I appreciated his.. PROFESSIONALISM, BEING COURTEOUS, MOST OF ALL VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WAS VERY CONFIDENT with what he was doing. To make a long story short... I left the premises overwhelmingly satisfied and happy! Congratulations for having BRETT in your team! He is one of a kind. More power and luck to your business!

Decent place to take your car. They said they wouldnt charge me for a battery test where they clearly had a sign saying battery tests were free. They did a good job fixing my issue and it wasnt too expensive. Good place for minor repairs and fairly quick service.

I am really disappointed in there honesty and service. I went to Pep boys thus summer and sent all most a thousand dollars on repairs on my car. I did not question there price. Today 2/3/2019. I went back because I thought I could trust them. They Pep boys tried to overcharge me by 7 times the amount to change one headlight on a older car. I also already bought the light bulb. They wanted to charge me $78.00 to install. I left the store and went next door to Monroe, they install my light bulb for $10:00 dollars. Pep boys you lost a good customer and anyone else I can tell.

This guy has been in business for over 20 years, and you can tell in the way that he runs his business, how courteous he is, the high level quality of the work and how fast the job was done. You get the feeling that youre dealing with stand up people when you do business here. I recommend Mr. Tire to anyone who needs work done on their vehicle.

I would honestly rate 0 stars if theres was an option. I went to the pep boys to get my car inspected and for a oil changethey charged a ridiculous price but thats besides the point. It took more than two hours and afterwards they told me there was an issue with the belt plus they drained the oil out and returned it back to me. I couldnt even move it from the property. So I got out and call them back over to get a refund. I was told there would be no refunds. So I asked to speak to a manager and what do you know? All of a sudden I can get a refund. I hate it there

Had my car towed here after the control arm bent on the highway and once it got to the shop, they immediately jacked it up and looked at it and were apparent with what they were going to do and had it fixed over the weekend. They did forget to call me when it was done but no biggie. Have also gone here before for parts before and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Also stop stealing parts out of the drawer because I was looking for lug nuts once and the computer said they had some but when we went to look in the drawer, they werent there...

The service desk staff and mechanics are all awesome here. They got me in as a walk-in and checked my tire for leak issues. Didnt find any major issues and no small leaks at this time, explained to me my options, and were very helpful. A+

This business gets 2 stars because Gary was pleasant and helpful over the phone. Jay , however, was abrupt with me over the phone and was rude to my daughter in person. Jay needs a big lesson in customer service and professionalism! He doesnt represent Pep Boys in a positive light. We wont go back.

Had my car towed here after my engine blew. The people here were awesome and helped me through this difficult process and even left me feeling good about it.

They enforce a policy thats no were to be found, neither is the store facility or in their online website. Terrible customer service, the manager didn’t care at all, and just wanted to dismiss everything I was explaining, not professional at all.👎🏼

I had the unfortunate experience of having my alternator go out after a long trip. Mike at Pep Boys on Central Ave in Albany was very helpful and his customer service helped a rather difficult and unexpected episode to go smoothly. Actually, all of the staff there were courteous, professional and helpful. I recommend Pep Boys on Central based on this experience!

I disagree with the post before that said the place is sloppy. To me everything looks clean and organized. The staff here are professional, friendly and extremely helpful. My business relies on Pep Boys Auto and they have not failed me once again since I have moved up here a month ago. Until this changes my rating will remain the same.

Pep Boys Central Ave Albany. Used to be a decent place for a woman to go for car repairs.. no more! I went for a battery.. they showed me the price on their computer screen.. and then tried the bait and switch.Last week. I needed brakes.. Mgr made 8 am appointment and told me car would be done 11am. I went back before the shop closed to drop keys.. told him Id be back in the morning.. and he totally backtracked said car couldnt possibly be done before 3 or 4 at the earliest. I did not leave the car,!Pep boys no longer honest with women! Go across the street to Meineke. Bob was quite honorable and they do all car repairs not just brakes.

Service was quick, cheapiest prices around. Even gave the internet price which was 25 percent cheapier. Friendly service.

I had been a happy Pepboys customer for many years and have repeatedly given them the benefit of the doubt over the past few years as its service has steadily declined. However, the service and quality control of its locations in the Albany, NY, area has become unusable. For example, I recently made an appointment for a smoke test and state inspection. Then arrived to discover the only person trained to do the smoke test was unavailable. When I returned again for the smoke test at considerable inconvenience, I discovered the only inspection guy was out. Thus, I had to return yet again. No warning in either case. Most recently, I discovered theyd seriously overfilled my crank case during an oil change. Yes, they even screwed up an oil change. When I returned to get it corrected, they initially refused because their used oil reservoir was overflowing and they couldnt find the errant oil change appointment in their screwed up computer system. While there all these times, I heard numerous others encountering similar difficulties. Anyway, Ive finally given up on them. Too bad for Pepboys since Id referred lots of business their way over the years.

When there parts people dont have a clue about cars and their parts when the computer does it for them and your forced to go back 3 times so the idoits can get there stuff together and part numbers right because they kept giving me the wrong parts. Said they discounted me for the hassle and honestly a 20 dollar discount for horrible service isent gonna cut it. Kinda understand now why pep boys is going out of business.

The customer service representative was very helpful and spent several minutes with me looking for the hardware i needed. Unfortunately since the size and thread pitch were such an unusual combination, they didnt have what I needed but I really appreciate that the staff is so helpful.

Called to inquire about some exhaust piping today. Asked if they had any 2.25 piping in store. Was told that uhhh, I dont know. Then I politely asked if he could check. Was told no!!! It is his job!! I live far away, and I expressed that. But the person who picked up the phone would literally not give me an answer until I came down to the store. Not friendly. Never going there.

I set up appointment got there 40 minutes before appointment man asked would I be waiting for car said yes going to get breakfast at dinner down street came back 2 hours later man said car wasnt ready a car was ahead of mines asked know much longer tha man said 40 minutes told man please give me my keys will be going to another place took car to other place got oil change now I am happy with my oil change at another place that wasnt PEPBOYS

I go in for their 29 minute oil change or whatever time they were lying about. Anyways, itll take 2 hours they say and theyll call me when its done. Ok fine Ill walk and get lunch with my wife. 2 hours go by with no phone call. I decide to walk back and notice my car is in a different spot so it must be done.I go in, pay the unreasonably large amount for my oil change. I get to my car, the floor mat and seat cover the tech put in are still their (meaning they left their garbage in my car) furthermore the steering wheel and door were covered in oil.Everything about this place screams sloppy and unprofessional. Ill only ever be returning for parts. Their service ability has plummeted since Gene and Eric left.My recommendation, find a mom and pop shop and build a relationship with them.

Store carries a good variety of parts, the repair section sucks, prices are average. They dont honor their warranties, multiple tires with broken cords sold here, they keep asking you to return at a later date hoping youll just never return for your new tires/ service.

Brought my tires there to get swapped onto another tire and rim. They absolutely destroyed my original set. Save the headache, go to a true professional elsewhere.
