Great place. Definitely on the pricier side but really good food and atmosphere.

Our first time at Barnsider. We went there after my cousin and his lady drove 2 hours to surprise me at a pop event I was doing! I wanted to take them to a local restaurant. I loved the rustic decor. The food was delicious and so was my pomegranate cocktail! Everyone enjoyed themselves and would definitely go back!

I had only been here once or twice many years ago but recently have been here several times in the past few months. Food and service are great. Really great steaks here and always happy to come back.

Went for Mothers Day brunch and it was fantastic. First time ever going and the staff was awesome, restaurant was clean and food was really good. Probably the best clam chowder I have ever had! We had Christian for a waiter and he was absolutely amazing!!

Salad bar was open and had a delicious variety to chose from. Haddock was moist and flavorful. Two friends had steak cooked as they requested. Besides server, another employee made sure water glasses were full and checked to see if we needed anything. Great dining experience. We went early on a weeknight and noticed restaurant filled quickly after that creating a small line at salad bar.

Went to dinner on my birthday. Overall experience was good. Salad bar was great. Service was excellent. Calamari was ok. Got the 20 oz. Prime Rib which in my opinion was underwhelming. We discussed it after we left. It was almost like they cooked it to how it was asked for, but forgot to season it.

The salad bar is BACK and as good as ever! Business Dinner... 7 of us enjoyed great BEEF (I had Surf and Turf - Stuffed Shrimp and Prime Rib). it was nice to see it so busy on a Wednesday evening... like the good old days. Barnsider did not disappoints! Attentive Service too.

Entire restaurant was busy. It was a Friday evening and the attention to detail was terrific. Have not been there in over 20 years. There were 7 people in my party and they treated each of us as if each one of us was the only restaurant patron. Thank you John for all your caring and concern. Outstanding!

I usually visit this restaurant monthly while traveling for work (travel nurse). For the most part I’ve never had a problem until this past order . I ordered take-out. I arrived 25 minutes after they stated it would be ready for pick up at which point the food still wasn’t ready . I ordered a filet medium and if you look at the photos it’s noticeably bloody rare . Also, I did not receive the salad that came with my meal of which I paid for or utensils (I had to then go to the lobby of my hotel to request utensils) . All in all this past experience has left a bad taste in my mouth . The plain potato was alright ... Not so sure I’ll be ordering from here again .

Excellent food! The Old Fashioned Sliced Sirloin was absolutely amazing. I paired it with garlic mashed potatoes. Great service and great food.

From the time we walked into this restaurant til the time we left, we were very impressed with the services. There were three gentlemen that served our table and they were all top-notch! Chris, who took our order, took the time to explain the specials and other items on the menu. Our dinner was very delicious. I love scallops and The Barnsider definitely outdid themselves with our meal, which I rate 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!! And it came with a salad from their fresh salad bar that also offered a couple varieties of soft, warm breads and block cheddar cheese. We ended our feast with a serving of deep fried ice cream, which tantalized our palate! For the price we paid, we had the best time and great food with excellent service! The Barnsider gets a thumbs up and is highly recommended to go to whether for a romantic evening dinner or family gatherings. Kudos!

The beef wellington was excellent! The crabmeat stuffed mushrooms were also very good. Servers were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Top notch service. Went on a week night and they were busy but we never waited very long for food or refills on our drinks. Great variety of food and everything we ordered was delicious!

We enjoyed our meals here. It’s is $$$$ in price point but the beef Wellington and the rack of lamb we had were both delicious. The drinks were refreshing and wait staff attentive. Salad bar as well.

An excellent experience all around. The food was delicious and prepared exactly as requested. Safety procedures were followed. Best of all was the service. Our server was spot on. Friendly, completely knowledgeable, attentive but not overpowering. Not a cheap meal, but worth every penny for a memorable evening out.

Very nice experience. Went there for Valentine’s Day. Made reservations ahead of time. From the food to the drinks, everything tasted very good. I wished the waiter came over to see how we were doing because we needed a couple of things, but they were very busy. A little expensive.

Decided to try this place in a whim, looking for a place with good American food. Very pleased with how well this particular whim went! The food was incredible from the appetizers to the side dishes. The entrees were very well done, excellent taste, well plated. I recommend getting the freshly baked bread from the salad bar. Portions are not huge, but reasonable. Servers were very friendly, and willing to make the food whatever you wanted it to be so if somethings not exactly what you want as listed on the menu I recommend asking what can be done. Between the serving staff and the kitchen, they seem very accommodating. This also seems like a very nice date spot, but definitely not a first date. Its a little pricey --although everything is worth it, your date might not be!

Disappointed. One hour wait and no one was inside the restaurant. 3 groups outdoor. Turned away at least 12 people. Went to the clubhouse and had a great meal. No waiting and we were the 1st there for lunch .

Where to begin....wait staff was perfectly fine and cordial...the food on the other hand....its was supposed to be a birthday dinner for our daughter with a few friends....threw out most and took home what will eventually be thrown out...the cocktail sauce for our shrimp was hard as if frozen, yet it was warm and had no flavor..out of calamari, our daughters favorite...bacon wrapped scallops with undercooked bacon, bacon wrapped beef Wellington, way overpriced...not sure where the cook learned to make peppercorn sauce for the steak Au Poirve, but it was much too sweet and couldve been served on top of ice cream...the medallions with cabernet sauce, way overpriced for tough cuts of meat..tried to salvage it with a nice creme brulee but no, that too was totally cold and under performed as well...weve been here other times for drinks and finger foods, wings are good, other apps as well, taco bar is a nice feature, but never again will we have a sit down dinner.

Great service and environment. Food was good..maybe what I ordered. Baked scallops were hot and very good....steak was cooked perfectly (mid rare) but a little tough....not the best cut. Wine was excellent and enjoyed visiting with the bartender. Will go back when in Albany.

Atmosphere was nice, great selection at the salad bar, and the baked shrimp was perfect. The steaks seemed to be cooked sios vide, which makes them nice and tender, but didnt look like they touched a pan to sear the outside of them, which was a little disappointing.

My high school friend’s family owns the company that runs all the Barnsider restaurants in the Northeast and they go out of their way to make your dining experience as enjoyable as possible from soup to nuts! So go eat there now...You can thank me later!

I was very disappointed in our take out meal last night. I had called a week before checking on the lobster mac & cheese that was offered earlier... Well I got an email that it was back! So, ordered 2 with salads and a desert...adding a 20% tip as Ive done with all takeout! The lettuce was brown edged...not a bit of green...except the pepper slices and cucumber! The lobster mac&cheese was so overcooked...there was nothing creamy about it! Had we been in the restaurant... We would have sent the entire thing back! Very disappointed! 😞

I ordered the tenderloin medallion and scallops and my husband had rack of lamb. The food was good but my baked potato was very dry and his veggies were freezer burned. We expected fresh veggies not frozen. The atmosphere is nice for a family setting or just a dinner for two. The wait staff was friendly and a very nice ambience overall!

Just got back from an Easter dinner here. I got the ham dinner Easter Special. The ham with raisin sauce was very good, twice baked potato (which is a $4.95 up charge) was also tasty. The green beans with almonds was not my thing, so I didn’t even eat them. My boyfriends mother enjoyed her rib eye, but my boyfriends teriyaki sirloin was extremely over cooked. (He asked for it medium well.) it was so well done it was gray, and looked dry and chewy. Portions are very small for the prices of these steaks. Manager comped 3 of our up charged sides, but I overheard him talking a bit of trash about our complaint when I walked to the bathroom as he was conversing w/ other staff by the register. Service was pretty good, and the cosmo was excellent. Overall, I probably wouldn’t return as I can cook a way better steak at home, for a fraction of the price tag.

Other reviews are correct. Small portion, extremely over priced. Got the shrimp scampi. Delicious, but the portions are extremely small. 5 pieces of shrimp, and a tiny amount of pasta. Maybe 1/4 pound of pasta. To be honest, I think you can get as good of a meal at olive garden, with larger portions, and pay less. I wont be back here.

Horrible experience - manager (Josh) was so rude and mean. He gave us the only table in the bar area that was extremely high traffic. This was my Mother’s Day celebration and I told him we would wait for ANY other table. He said we could not wait for another table, asked if I wanted his job, and then stormed away and never came back. We left, and by then all other restaurants were full. We are 30 year customers and we will never come back after being treated like that. He was downright mean and ruined my Mother’s Day. One of the hostesses was nice and told us we could have the next table to open up in the bar but I was too upset by then so we left.

The Barnsider on Sand Creek Rd. in Colonie, NY, is a great place for dinner. They have an extensive menu and a very nice salad bar. Some entrees are priced in the $30s, but the food is quite delicious and the servers are friendly and attentive. The seating follows COVID protocol so we felt safe eating there. We took a chance on seating on a slower night, so I would suggest calling ahead. Enjoy!

Stopped in for dinner tonight, and snagged what looked like the last available table for two. The team of wait staff was incredibly attentive, and gave recommendations for drinks and for food.We started with the bacon beef wellington, which was pretty good despite the meat being a dry medium well. The sauce was delicious!I opted out of the serve yourself buffet style salad station after seeing several patrons touch what could have been my food with their bare hands. Unsanitary and frankly, gross.I ordered the ribeye, which was 16 oz. Sadly, about 8 of those oz were fat. The part of the ribeye that was actually edible was delightful, and the blue cheese pecan butter was great.My fiancee ordered the salmon special. She thought it was cooked perfectly, and had no complaints. Perfectly flaky and not dry, she says. Having had a few bites, I wholeheartedly agree, and kind of regret not ordering that myself.Id like to come back and order something different, while still avoiding the germy salad bar. Overall, a decent experience.

Very noisy, there wasnt any bread with dinner, salad bar was messy and mostly empty. Waited over 30 minutes after finishing our appetizers for our dinners to arrive.

Way overpriced!! Small portions and never the same person coming to the table when they came at all.The steak was dry and cooked well-done, not med-rare like I asked for. Prime rib was cold but the time we took a bite. For how hyped up the food was we were not impressive. We went to celebrate my best friends birthday and wanted to enjoy good food and good company. I dont mind putting down money when I got out to eat. Its my vise, its the only indulgence I have that I dont mind splurging on. But this place is not worth the money and the only reason Im giving 2 stars for this review is because out of everything they got his 55 dollar steak correct and the mojito.

First time in a restaurant since Covid-19. I thought it was too crowded for my comfort. People were standing side by side at the salad bar, tho people had masks and gloves on. Service was good.

Outstanding Food And Service.

Went on a Sunday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Tables spaced as per covid guidelines. Staff were all wearing masks. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately. Food arrived quickly after ordering. Salad was crisp and was a generous portion. Crab stuffed mushroom appetizer arrived quickly and fresh from the oven! Entrees were fabulous, husband ordered scallops and shrimp with twice baked potato and I ordered the scallops with serlion steak - appropriately sized (meaning we finished our entrees and had just enough room for dessert.). Dessert was fabulously plated - my husband had the Apple crisp and I had the deep fried ice cream with caramel and bananas. Both were delicious but next time I would ask for less caramel sauce as it over powered the deep fried ice cream. Our server was attentive and I think he went on break during our meal but another server filled in for him and was seamless when our original server returned. Over all it was a great date night out and we will definitely be making this one of our regular date night locations. Thanks for the great service!

Our waiter was Brian he was awesome. Me and the wife got new items I loved both, the steak au poirve was a little to spice for my wife. Its covered in peppercorns so its exspected. We both had a great time and this is official new steak house. Fair prices and fantastic service and food.

Very nice indoors. I felt like the food wasnt tasty enough. Added a star for the salad bar thats included in the entree. Their Espresso Martini was the bomb. For the price we paid, we expected better food.

I took my family there for Thanksgiving. We have frequented this restaurant in the past. Unfortunately due to COVID their famous salad bar was closed. They did provide a decent salad however it was not the same. Three of us had the turkey dinner. The peas were ice cold, the squash was cold, potatoes were cold and no butter was provided, and the turkey was cold and the meat was very dry. I was very disappointed with our experience, especially with how much I hyped it up to my family who had never been there. The $120 dinner tab was not worth the experience we had. Hopefully the turkey dinner is fresher and hot for others.

This Capital Region staple is Beyond Marvelous and has been so for the past thirty years or more. Service is Amazing as is the Salad Bar as is the Menu in its Diversity and Splendor. Finally, Words Pale to describe the Quality and Deliciousness of their Steaks!Sadly, their Cocktails are a little Lite for the Price.

Been going here since I was a kid. Always great food; always fresh and good ingredients. Salad/bread bar is closed but no big deal. Salad dessings are all delicious and so is the bread. Wife and I got the sirloin for 2, it was pretty good, the squash was fantastic. Service was terrible though, the hosts were fine but the waitress was rude and looked at me like I was insane whenever I asked a question. Other than that, still tasty!
