The Bladium is hands down the best gym on the island. Although the location isnt the most convenient , the gyms range of equipment makes it an enjoyable experience especially during non busy hours. Usually gets crowded around 5-8pm or earlier in the morning, for the most part not busy what so ever. There are also 5 soccer fields available and a basketball court that are a lot of the time entirely open to anyone with a membership during slow hours.

Love our gym. Everything you need all in one place, from working out, sport field, great boxing area with Ring and amazing coach Henry, amazing kids club, kids sports teams, great eating spot, facial and massage therapy that are located inside the building in their own private sections at great prices from super experienced professionals. Great shower areas and I really cant say enough about all they do with the children... It definitely is a family friendly gym. I can get my work out on and still know my kids are having a great time and I can even view them while doing it. Believe me, its worth it

If I could give it a No star rating, I would without hesitation. The soccer referees are bias, they have no respect towards the players. The abuse of power is ridiculous. The purpose of my review is hoping to get the attention of ppl so change can be done. Staff who runs this place needs to either be better trained or replace with staff who arent BIAS, and unprofessional!

Contrary to what other reviewers have said, it is not difficult to quit if youre not under a contract. They make you come in in person, but no, the owner doesnt have to be there. I was a member for many years, but quit recently while I recover from knee surgery. Aside from having to make the visit, the process was painless (despite the owners not being present).Their kids programs are the best Ive seen, so families should definitely give it serious consideration.

Really friendly staff and great equipment. Just got stationed here for the next year and needed a new gym. Came in, was shown around and in 30 mins I was signed up and using the equipment. WARNING!First, non-members use the gym during gym hours. I guess the gym is open to the general public because after 4 pm random people attend and bring their children and start drinking while children are present, so generally speaking its not safe because you have a lot of drunks walking around every day. Second, the gym always appears to be rented if you want to use the fitness section were all the mechanical machinery is located good luck I have witnessed how all the old farts follow the young women around and act like they are working out just to watch them. I am appalled by some of the behavior I have witnessed. I feel sorry for some of the women but I can tell the women know when the old men are working out next to them just to get a closer look at their body parts. If your a woman you have been warned the old men and some men in general will follow you around just to stare at you. I have witnessed it all year and have become frustrated by it because its obvious. In addition, I never used the bathroom in the fitness section of the gym because they smell horrible but I have also witnessed how they clean the restrooms. Maintenance mops the floor with dirty mops, slightly wipe down the sinks and if the mirrors look clean dont clean them at all. Maintenance never cleans the sauna and the shower stalls they do a thorough cleaning on Thursday once a week, every other day its a simple wipe down. I know because I am friends with the maintenance staff and have personally witnessed how the bathrooms are cleaned. They never thoroughly clean the womens bathroom so, if you are using the sauna or showers make sure you are fully clothes because you might catch something, carpets get cleaned once a month benches never get wiped. Also, I just learned that they are having trouble hiring people to keep the place clean so good luck guys hope you dont catch anything while you are there. When it comes to cleaning the fitness rooms were the trainers have their class they clean them once a week and slightly wipe down any dirt they see.Third Bladium summer camp which means all summer and non-summer have kids running around the gym all day making it impossible to have a good work out, so basically every day, all day the gym is occupied by kids and even if you rent out the courts or fields there are still children running around and drunk people making it impossible to enjoy your time at the gym. Furthermore, they have a program youth coordinator named Kelsey McKeon that tries to get parents to join a summer scam camp called Triple Threat Academy (T.T.A.) which I consider a real sham because they charge people $280 for 3-4 days to be trained by one of their PERSONAL TRAINERS named Drew Nash. I did some research and have found the private contractor T.T.A to be a sham company I doubt they are even an LLC. I looked online and found their address and main office location to be a UPS store when I spoke to UPS management they said no company (T.T.A.) by that name is located there. Also, I looked online at the T.T.A website to get more information on the personal trainer and found Drew Nash does not possess the proper credentials. As a matter of fact people actually need a Bachelors in Kinesiology to be a personal trainer Drew Nash doesnt even possess a Child Development certification that is required by law to work with kids. Sorry but having a high school diploma and some college basketball experience doesnt make you a legit trainer or qualified to work with kids. Also, just because you have a website doesnt mean you have a legit company T.T.A. is charging people $280 for 3-4 days they have been working with Bladium for over a decade now. Basically, Bladium appears to just hire anyone to work with the kids and scammed their clients. So if you dont really care about your childrens safety take them to Bladium camp. All information is online I will post some pictures and add links they honestly just hire random people to take care of the children. You have been WARNED it must be true if the guy below is complaining.

I bought a membership at this gym about 1.5 years ago. Shortly after purchasing the membership, my personal circumstances changed and I needed to move away from the area. Unsure if the move would be permanent, I was convinced by the staff to put a freeze on my membership, which I was told was free! I was given no paperwork to sign and was not given any additional information about the freeze. I noticed about a half year ago that, unbeknownst to me, the gym took the freeze off my membership and began charging me - despite the fact that my move was permanent and I never moved back to the area. Management has been unwilling to work with me to correct this issue despite repeated calls/emails over a period of months. I originally thought this gym had amazing facilities/staff, but this experience has been devastating.

I have been coming here for over 10 years now, and the improvements have been done tastefully. Yusuf, does an incredible job managing the rockwall. Cole also does a great job there whenever he is there. I would say the Rockwall area wouldnt be what it without the both of them. As long as I have been there, I had been boxing with Coach Henry for at least 8 years. I know what happened with him and it is no ones fault. It comes with age. But at least he is being taken care of. I will miss the boxing ring. But at least they left us space to train still. They also updated the bag area which is nice. Maybe one day they will get a new trainer and put the ring back in. But until then the current update is welcomed.

As far as sports clubs go in Alameda I think Bladium is #1. Their classes are well varied and are well put together by the staff. I take the 6 am interval training class and I am completely obsessed. Though they dont have a pool/hot tub I think they make up for it with the rock climbing wall and sports leagues. What I also really love about it is the open feeling of being in an old hangar- it doesnt get too stuffy or claustrophobic like other gyms can. Only other downside is no towels. :(

Spent 6 months in Alameda and ended up loving this gym until their sales department scammed me. When it was time for me to move I came in to cancel my membership, was told it was canceled and I wouldnt be charged a cancelation fee as long as I emailed a proof of my address change. Before I got the chance to send the email, I got charged with another month of membership. I emailed asking why I got hit with another month... No response. I eventually got an email saying that had decided to use the extra $60 towards the cancellation fee I was told I didnt have to pay. Its been quite some time since Ive felt this scammed by a business i trusted. Extremely disappointed.

Referees have absolutely no control of the games. When you play soccer here, you risk getting punched in the neck, slapped, or scratched across the face - all three of which happened to my teammates in the last 2 indoor soccer seasons at Bladium. After the first incident, the referees and Luis, the indoor soccer director, completely dismissed our complaints when we said the matches were getting too verbally aggressive and violent. After Luis gave our team captain some lip service saying he agreed that things were getting out of hand and that he would tell the refs to call the games more tightly, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back for another season. Within a few weeks, my teammate was punched in the neck after a game escalated with the same referee from the previous incident. After sending that player off the field, the referee and the other team’s “coach” justified our player getting punched because she tackled their player. Regardless of whether or not it was a hard or clean tackle (and it was both hard and clean), that is absolutely disgusting and inappropriate to suggest that our player was to blame for getting punched in the neck. I’ll be surprised if Bladium doesn’t see legal action against them at some point as long as this behavior and lack of accountability for players’ safety continues.
