Ed truly saved my wallet and my life today!!!! I have to work and have been taking the bus bus so I finally got my car towed to S and H Auto because Everyone and Auto-zone was Saying my alternator was bad because my car wouldn’t start sometimes BUT ED and his Crew tested my alternator and it was running like it was brand new, they checked my battery and the problem was that the battery wasn’t even installed right and the (screws) that hold the terminals together weren’t in there!!!!!!!! So they put my battery in there and got two screws on the terminals and it runs like a beauty (2006 Lincoln Zephyr) also his buddy has nice deals on tires mine were bald and I got some new tires for a great price I am genuinely very very pleased because every where else will charge you so much or try and con you but Ed is a down t earth guy go to S and H Auto you truly wont regret it and it won’t hurt to try!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent experience with S&H. Im not a car expert and I needed somebody honest and reliable to help me avoid buying an out-of-state lemon. I asked Ed if he could perform a pre-purchase inspection on a used vehicle. The dealer dropped it off and Ed inspected it. He gave me a detailed report and told me all the reasons why I should pass on this particular car. I had used S&H for years Ed was the only person I had trusted with any of my vehicles. He would look out for me and made sure repairs were fixed in a timely manner I always was satisfied until my last experience. One of my cars a Saturn had been at S&H waiting to be fixed granted it had been there for months but I would call ED on a regular just to touch base on my car. I brought another one of my vehicles to the shop to get brakes and at the time I brought up my Saturn that was at the shop to discuss when I would be able to get it fixed. At this point Ed tells me Oh yea your car was stolen along with a few others Ed could not give me any information about when my car was stolen, he stated his gate/lock to the lot had been broken for a few months so he wasnt sure when it was stolen. Remind you my car needed a rack & pinion and was unable to steer, so someone would have needed a flat bed to get my car off the property....yeah ok highly doubt that. After I declined for them to service my other vehicle Ed made a comment as if he was offended that I did not trust them to do service on my car and also said that it doesnt matter when the car was stolen its just stolen I will never forget that because I felt so disrespected because at the end off the day IT IS MY CAR!!! I wouldve have never knew my car was gone until I brought it up. I was highly disappointed and hurt behind this situation this is why it took me so long to even write this review because I had a lot of trust in ED and his crew. SMH

I had taken my car to a dealership after I realized my water pump was leaking—they quoted me $1300 in repairs—I called this shop, and Ed offered to take a look—and ultimately came in at a much better price! I felt Ed was honest, letting me know the dealership was trying to fix things that didn’t need fixed—and I appreciated his honesty. S&H Auto repair is located at 4941 Pearl road in Cleveland Ohio. Its located right next to Detroit Auto parts in the same building. Honest owner honest mechanic. Bennie was my mechanic. Nice to find a fair priced place, with an honest mechanic

This was a wonderful experience, and my car was repaired quickly and honestly. There is a certain level of distrust with the cookie cutter repair shops these days, because they overcharge on parts and recommend repairs that arent truly necessary. I have done a lot of work on my vehicle in the past seven years and I am very cautious about bringing it into a repair shop. I have a 2006 Escape with over 175000 miles, and sometimes I cant do the repair myself. Eds shop, S & H Auto, was recommended by a good friend of mine and I am happy I took my car here. I am leaving to work out-of-state in a few months and I wasnt sure if it was worth keeping my car. Ed was 100% honest with me and repaired my car very quickly! Not only was the work done quickly, but it was done well! As a student at the University of Akron I would recommend this repair shop to anyone in need of car repairs! It was very fair priced and a painless process overall. Best repair shop I have ever taken my car! Thanks Ed!

Ed is really wonderful. Im not very knowledgable about cars at all and when my engine light came on I was so worried. Coming in, Ed and his crew made me feel very comfortable. I dont know much about pricing but I will say it was very affordable. Hes not like all these other shops that charge an arm and a leg for labor. He had me in and out in a day as well. The anonymous person paid my entire repair bill. This means you get good parts and excellent service at a margin of the cost quoted by other places.2. Diagnosis - Ed and his team diagnose problems at no cost to you. I have a 14 year old beater that they have diagnosed for several problems, spending a bunch of labor hours but didnt charge me a dime.3. Recommendation - Ed is probably the most reasonable person in terms of auto repair I have met. Depending on the condition of your car, safety issues, your plans for the car, the cost of the repair and the value in fixing the car, he will recommend whether something should be done or not. Yes you heard that right. He actually does that.4. Transparency - Its an open atmosphere at the workshop. You get to talk to Ed, any technicians that you want to, for any thing you have a question for. Everything is out there in front of you. They will show you whats wrong with the car, unlike the other places where you sit in a customer lounge and then you get an estimate without knowing whether anything is wrong at all with your car.I will keep going to them for anything car related and I recommend you do too.

I called for a tow, but I was told they no longer tow. Could have been the end, but Ed helped me find an affordable tow company, helped me not get ripped off for a 20 mile tow and he even talked with me about what could be wrong and the cost. I will be taking my car here to get fixed. I just moved here, too, and I was floored by his kindness and help.

I have gone to Ed on multiple occasions and each time I get the best service I could have asked for. I have gotten various work done from exhaust work to new brakes/rotors and I am always very happy with his work. Ed is the most honest and reliable mechanic Ive ever gone to and I always learn a thing or two about my car since Ed gives an in-depth analysis about my issue. His prices are much more reasonable compared to most other mechanics and especially dealerships and he never tries to squeeze more problems out of your car like dealerships which I am very grateful for.

S&H gave me a great experience I never had before. I brought my truck which did not go through E check for catalytic system fail and had a nice conversation with Ed who I understood his jokes. Instead of ripping me off to replace the whole catalytic converter like others did, the shop tried to get me a right direction to fix the problem at lowest cost range and they get the job done man. My car had a battery wiring/terminal issue first and I was new to the area. It’s hard to find someone to trust to work on your car and feel like you’re not getting ripped off. I was referred to him by another mechanic and I’m pleased with the service I received. My exhaust rusted out and they replaced it and had it ready for me in 1day vs the other places that quoted me more than $700 to fix and they needed my car for a few days. If you want fast service and that doesn’t break the bank I highly recommend coming here a place you can trust that people are being honest.

First off, this is the prototypical mom & pop auto shop. Ed (the owner) is a great guy and, like other reviewers have stated, is wiling to work with you on the price. He isnt in it to screw his customers. I was rotating through the area, and stumbled upon the shop via yelp. Boy, am I glad I did. I got quotes as high as $400 to replace a starter, which was easily accessible from the top of the engine bay. He replaced it for around half that price and had it done in an hour. The guys at the shop also spent a good amount of time brainstorming as to what my issue was. They did not want to replace the starter and have that not be the issue. This was the best experience I have ever had at an auto shop. I would definitely recommend the shop to all friends and family. You will not be disappointed. While you are there, be sure to ask Ed about his Akron jokes.

I have had work done on my car multiple times at S&H Auto. They always do great work at a great price! This man runs his shop based on honesty and customer service and always does his best to assist you the best he can! I had a wheel bearing replaced in 2017, and was recently back to have front struts and an exhaust issue fixed. He got me in and out of the shop very quickly and now my car sounds great and feels great while Im driving down the road! 10/10 would recommend using this shop!

Had really a great experience with S&H. Im out of state and had them inspect a car I was thinking of purchasing. Ed was thorough and clued me in to every detail like it was him buying the car. He sent over an estimate which showed his pricing is more than fair. Hed be my go-to mechanic in Akron.

What a find! My car broke down on the way to work and this place was close and had good reviews so I had it towed there. They got me right in and looked at it that morning. They fixed the issue for a very reasonable price and definitely less than I was expecting when my car stopped accelerating that morning. It was fixed the very next morning. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. Thank you!

I live in Cleveland and my daughter is a student at the University of Akron (go Zips). My wife gave her our 2001 Chevy Tracker so she would have wheels to get back and forth to school on the weekends. One Monday I got a text from the U of A daddy my brakes dont work so rather than tow the car 30 miles north I researched auto repair shops near campus. Well S & H Auto Repair came up near the top on several sites including Google Maps and they were less than a mile away from where the car was. So I called Ed - he was professional and informative on the phone so I made an appointment for the following Saturday. Early Saturday, my daughter and I nursed the car down Spicer Street to S & H. The outside of the place wont win awards for style - but hey its an auto shop. Going inside is a different story: Ed is at the counter with the customer in front of us - demonstrating the same professional manner as I experienced on the phone. He gets to us - remembers our phone conversation - takes our keys - barks out a few orders to one of the guys and tells us it may take them a few hours to figure out what is wrong with the car. So I asked should we come back on Monday? NO - Ed says - come back in a few hours when we call you and tell you its done. Well I am floored! What great service! So we go off to get some breakfast and 3 hours later Ed calls - the car is ready. The bill was very reasonable to top it all off. Wish I could give S & H a higher rating than 5 stars!

Very honest and reasonable pricing. I had an issue with my vehicle and was calling around for estimates. The quote I got from Ed at s&h was less than half of what other mechanics were estimating. They did an amazing job. Fixed the issue, and saved me money. Highly recommend.

Everyone there is awesome!! I am a girl who doesnt know anything about cars besides when my check engine light comes on, I should get it checked out. Ed is always great at explaining to me what exactly is wrong with my car in terms I will understand. They are all such great people and the best experience Ive had with car mechanics ever!! They are also very reasonably priced and help me out in every way they can! Love them!!

This place does great work on cars theyve been working on my familys vehicles

Weve been bringing our cars here for the past couple of years. Weve found the shop to be honest, friendly, helpful, and most of all, reasonable in their pricing. Ive been to many shops in the past 30+ years and its hard to find someone who will work on a car and not try to take your arm, leg, or a vital organ in the process. Weve found that Ed tries to find the best pricing and still provide you with great work and service!

I havent had any complaints really with this place even despite a few things that I couldve spoke on when I had my vehicle fixed here in the past. My major issue is having the inside of my vehicle damaged and being promised by Ed that he will take care of it, which never happened. I was calling just about once a week to see if a part was brought in. One day I was told they should have the piece next week just to find out that following week that they havent went out to even look for the piece or order the piece at all. I was not seeking a brand new piece (trunk cover) that was damaged and though it was a small piece that was torn, burned, or possibly chewed on by the dog on the premises, I still wanted my vehicle the way it looked when I turned it in to you guys. I called once a week for three weeks. Ed insisted that he would call me as soon as the piece came in, so I stopped calling. I havent had not one phone call from Ed since I called him last back in October and here it is January now. I contemplated on even leaving this review but I am very upset that damage was done. I calledyou that same day to tell you how upset i was about the damage done, I came in that same day to show you the damage done, you saw it, acknowledged it, promise me youll get it fixed, I Called you every week to be sure you were a man of your word and I tried to be understanding to the fact that youre a busy man and to patiently wait. You told me you had my name on a sticker on your computer and that you wouldnt forget me. Well youve forgot me or either didnt care. I shouldve just nipped this in the bud when I had other small issues when I got my car back. Lessoned learned and I wont be going back. I wont bad mouth this business because Ed is very professional and kind. However, Im not too sure about some of his team members that have fixed on my vehicle and how I got it back when I picked it up and how Ive had to take it back due to a screw not being secure, the problem still existing that i paid for, or damages to the inside of my vehicle. Im highly disappointed in Ed as well for not staying true to his word.

I have been coming to Ed and S&h Auto for at least five years. I love this place. I have referred all co workers, family, and friends. He really cares about his reputation as far as being a really good mechanic with great prices. When I was in school they even took me to class and pick me up which meant a lot for me. Thanks guys.
