The man who answered the phone was kind, courtesy and informative. He was able to get a technician on site within an hour. We were fueled up and back on the road in no time. I had one of my trucks in Addison a mile from Great Lakes service, so I called them out to repair a brass fitting on the air drier. The came out within 20 minutes and got my driver back in business! A real honest repair company is hard to come by these days, but Great Lakes is the real deal!!! My company WILL remember Great Lakes Services the next time we are broke down, they will be our first call!!!!

Andrew is super cool and very helpful. I have used this company 3 times in 4 years and theyre always the best.I am surprised they rating isnt higher. Some of these bad reviews simply arent fair to post. Sometimes roadside cant fix serious problems and your truck needs a shop with proper equipment.I will continue to support Great Lakes as they have shown true knowledge and have gone above and beyond for me as a class A driver.

Great service, quick fix. Only 2.5 hours from the first call to ready to roll, and cleaned up the work area. Andrew was quick, efficient, and nice.

From the person on the phone to the mechanics the fix my truck roadside where very friendly. I was surprised they could get some of the parts as quick as they did to get me back on the road. When given the price at first I thought it was a little high but looking at the situation, two mechanics came out, a tire and 2 air bags and only down about 3 hours, the cost was not out of line. If Im in the area and need help, I will definitely call them again.

These people won’t take Credit cards so you can’t dispute the charge after they rip you off. They charged thousands and they didn’t even fix my vehicle. Do not recommend!!!! Worst experience with a business ever.

Wow we called them out friday am charged nearly 500 to clear codes and then we broke down again brought the truck to them and. They wanted another 300 and my company. Disagreed owner and another guy threatened me and if this is how u run a company then ill tell everybody of them service sucks and owner does all this dont use them

This place was amazing. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. My mechanic Herbert never stopped working on me tank. He went above and beyond to get me back on the road so I could get back to my family as soon as possible. I would recommend anyone with a tractor trailer to go there if you have any problems.

I cannot say enough about Great Lakes and what they have been doing for me and our company. Greg and Dino always seem to go above and beyond to help us out - countless times we have placed calls to them needing something done in an urgent fashion and Great Lakes has always come through. Kudos to Great Lakes valuing customer service - customer for life!

I have been in the trucking business 27 years and have never seen anything like this company. We brought truck in and were told it was a def hose. After 3 weeks and them never getting back to us or the warranty company they finally called us back and said they didnt know what it was and they couldnt fix the unit. We went to pay bill and take to another facility and they charged us $1000 storage on truck. If you need repairs please take it to any other facility or you will regret it.

I manage a fleet of 10 trucks... 8 local and 2 line haul. Great Lakes keep us on the road. They are the first and last place I call. Not too many repair shops have their own wrecker as well. So if they cant fix it on-site, they can tow it. Makes things a lot easier.

Never ever! Never ! If you call them- you Brock. They will take your truck as a hostage and make you pay thousands or your $. I pay 3400$ for radiator replacement on my Volvo! Volvo dealer quoted 1250$ for the Volvo parts and labor. They installed after market radiator, no warranty and horrible attitude of the manager.

Dont remember anyones name there but I do remember they were kind and courteous, my mother broke down 10 miles from their posted Internet address and I was at work 60 miles away. I looked them up and explained I have a nervous 80 year old on the interstate that needs help right away. I have used Great Lakes Service several times when my trucks are in Chicago land area. They even came to IN to get my truck rolling once. They are very prompt and get my trucks rolling ASAP. Highly recommended.

Drivers beware this is a big time fraud company they just charged me $400 dollars for changing my spare. I understand if they sold me the tire but it was my own tire .loves ,ta,petro charge around $50 buck plus miles. I check their reviews and this place is just asking for a big time lawsuit.so if theres anyone out there looking for proof Im more than willing to cooperate!

I called at 6:45A they said they were 90 min max. I called them back at 7AM to send truck and ask what the charges were. They said $135 call out fee plus $95 an hour min of 2 hours. The search said they were in Des Plaines and turns out they were in Addison. I was told truck would be there in 90 min or less, but truck didnt show up til 9:30AM. Took a half hour to complete the job and they charged $628 ( its 6 in of radiator hose and 10 gallons of coolant) Dont mind paying for service but this was very exorbitant, even for Chicago. Best advice shop around.

Total scam artists...told technician to call when on his way. No phone call and shows up 2 days later to charge for testing equipment. These people are awful. Dont waste your time and money

BE WARNED!! I thought all the be warned review were people who are hard to please.I WAS WRONG AND PAID A HEFTY PRICE FOR IT.Had to call the police to get my truck The owner claimed he didnt receive payment for the tow, but I had authorization number and recite with his name. The owner is very unprofessional and thief.They charged me for 6 hours of service for a 30 minutes job. I asked why and the owner told me its a flat rate job but had no proof or any documents to show. On the wall it states $117 Hourly so i expected to only pay for the time spent working on my truck.The rest of the time the truck was just sitting there while the mechanics worked on other trucks.They cut up wires to my starter solenoid, and wanted to charge me $400 to replace it. The part is $14 from freightliner, and is a simple 2 bolts to the firewall. I had to catch uber to go pick up the part and get the mechanic to replace.Owner gave me 3 different price quotes in 5 minutes. They charge 4% if paid by credit card. Then I was told he will not accept my credit card after I called the police. So I had to write a com check.At the end of the day I was kicking myself because I ignored all of the BE WARNED POSTS now Im hoping no one makes the same mistake and ignore the other 23 posts before mine.

This place is dishonest! We called for a tow. I asked the gentleman how much the tow would be. He said, $150, $200 or $300. I was also advised that they had a mechanic on site that could take a look at the truck and depending on what was wrong it could get fixed that night or otherwise would have to wait until morning if it was a bigger issue. Ok, no problem. I had them tow the truck to the facility (less than an hour). They told my driver that someone would pull the truck in the morning and they had to get a hotel room. I called Great Lakes and told them this is not what I was told otherwise I would have went with someone else. He said, Well it looks like a hose but there is other techs on tonight that can look at it. Needless to say, the truck didnt get pulled in until the morning. I received a bill for $1300 for a couple of hoses to be changed. When asked why I was charged for 2 hours on a tow. Greg said, Because thats what I put in there. I advised the tow was less than an hour. I went to pay the bill and he said there would be a 4% fee to use a credit card or I can use EFS, tchek or comcheck. I advised EFS was down so I would pay with credit card. He said, The machines are down so youll have to wait until whenever they come back up. In the meantime they have a sign in their office (which my driver sent to me) that states, Were sorry we can no longer accept credit cards. Cash or comchecks only. So if they knew this all along why didnt they say it upfront. They locked my driver in their gate knowing they didnt have a way to take a credit card. They also charged $125.00 an hour for labor when their sign states $117.00 an hour. When I asked for the owners name and number, Dino stated that I could find it on the website (which there is nothing on there). My driver asked for the owners name and number and Dino told her HE was the owner. These people are scams and will do anything to screw you over. Will never use them again!

Final cost of the service is almost twice than initially told on the phone.GLS II will never tell you that service time starts since the moment you call, yet the tow truck may leave the shop two hrs later.They will do the job, but conditions will change on you silently.Truckers, be careful, ask for details at the beginning.

I dont know if I can give them no stars so I will give them one. I called them to jump start my truck, the guy came tried twice and told my driver no way, it will not start too cold outside. Charge me $320 for that and left. I send one of my other trucks there and he was able to start the truck that SAME DAY. No good service, nothing, STAY AWAY

I just want to put out there from my experience personally I was told it was going to take 3 hrs. After waiting 4 close to 5 hrs. U NEVER was responded to in a call OR for the service. And it has been well over 48 hrs. DONT expect them to come help when u r in need of a tow. My total experience

We had our truck towed in with DPF issues. They diagnosed it and said it was DPF header, $1200-$1300 part. Waited a week for the part and when they replaced it, that didn`t solve the problem. They said you need a new `box 1`, $12,000-$13,000 part, in other words the whole DPF system .If you want them to start changing one part after another until they replace the whole system and charge you $20,000, go for it! We pulled our truck out and they charged us $5,250 for towing($750) and replacing $1300 part that was not broken. Of course they kept our truck hostage until we paid with EFS checks. Horrible business practice! I read other comments as well. Don`t let this people charge you $117/hr. There`s plenty of repair shops that will do a great job and charge you only $65-$75

They went out of their way to take care of me when my truck broke down. Their tow truck arrived quickly in spite of the rush hour Chicago traffic. The tow driver was awesome! He did a great job making sure everything was safe and secure. He pulled my 80,000 pound truck and attached trailer with ease and safety. I actually am a Director of Safety in Transportation. This day however, I offered to quick run a load to a customer to help out. Then the unexpected. A break down with the truck. They towed it in, and called a nearby hotel for me to make sure they had a room available and to make sure I received the special discounted rate. Then we learned that the hotel shuttle was not available, so the tow driver who brought my truck in, offered to take me to the hotel in his own personal vehicle, on his own time. My truck was repaired the following day in a reasonable amount of time that it should have taken. I cant say enough about everyone there at Great Lakes. If I ever learn of a vehicle break down anywhere in their service area, I will gladly recommend them without hesitation. Thanks to all of you! Terrible experience. I called and got a price for a truck tow and I gave the location and all details. The driver arrived and said everything is ok and they towed it to the GLS2 facility in Addison. When I get there to pick it up, Dino says its another $1,244 then what we agreed on. I said hey this isnt the quoted price and he said yeah we didnt quote the tolls, gas, and storage. Storage for 4 hours is $1,000+?! Better off going somewhere else. The other reviews show these guys are terrible

Had a dpf problem first happened in Iowa then brought it here got me up and running quickly and havent had a problem since.

Worst people to work with. Scamers. Mechanics have no knowlage what are they doing. they charged me 400 $ just to look at my truck and tell me that the computer is bad i have to tow to their shop. this was not the case. i am glad i did not tow it. next day i had a different mechanic look at the truck they just reconnected a cable and truck was working as normal till now.
