Hands down the best at what they do!The crew was amazing and true professionals. The right equipment in top notch shape together with a trained crew made it look like it was all choreographed!I had 3 huge Ash trees that died in the deep winter freeze of 2021. They had to come down because they were close to the house and creating a dangerous situation for our home, my neighbors house and the neighborhood.They brought in the 50 ton crane with a 155 foot boom and by the end of the day 3 giant Ash trees were gone! Our yard and surrounding area were cleaned up and all that was left was the neighborhood squirrels who’s heads were spinning!Don’t bother with any other service, the price was right and the job they did gets 5 STARS.Mike and Lisa M.

Went to go to the bank and notice their dumpster in front of my house blocking my mail box. Got back, and their truck was blocking my drive way. 1. They did not get a permit to block the city street and right of way. 2. They were in violation of city ordinance for blocking a drive way and access to a property. 3. They dropped a roll off dumpster on the street without permit. 4. They did not have written permission from neighbor to run the crane across their property and to have the crane on their driveway. They said they had tried to contact the property owner, but had not made contact.The truck with the hopper was originally parked with the front all the way in front of my drive way completely blocking my drive. They have equipment parked all down the block.As the day has gone on, their operation of the crane has been questionable. At one time, they had the boom of the crane across the road with a load and allowed a car to drive under the boom. Hoping the house occupant was not in the residence at the time, they also brought tree trunk cutting across the top of the house.They do not know how to be a small footprint in a crowded residential. They essentially had every person coming out to see what was going on.(8-10-21)

Mike and his crew are absolutely amazing, very professional, and above all else priced fairly. I had 4 very large trees removed and a dump removed and I am super happy with the great job they did and the efficiency of their work . Thorntons was completely professional throughout. They furnished the insurance I requested promptly and without question. They removed a difficult tree without damage to any of the three lines running through it. They were all together a pleasure to deal with. I plan to use them in the future.

We had two very large trees die in our yard. One in the front and one in our backyard yard, which has no excess to a alley. Thorntons professionally removed both our tree with no damage. They did have to use a crane to remove the tree in our backyard. Very experienced in this field. We were home the whole time. Can not express how pleased we are with the work done.Neighbors, the mail, our trash truck all were given access down the road. No one had anything blocked. Thank you so much. These people are top professionals. They were competitive in price and was able to preform the service in less than a week. Our tree was an full grown ash tree more than 20ft tall and super wide. They were very professional and prompt. They came with everything they needed and got the job done in no time (considering the great size). Most impressive to watch them in action. Tree removal and stump grinding all in one day. They even filled in the area, smoothed it out, swept and cleaned up all the debris. The place looks great and the sun light is immense. Totally loved it! Would definitely recommend them to everyone.

Very pleased with the service, called them out to lift some hvac Units on a roof with one of their cranes. Could not ask for a smother process the crane operator was as professional as it comes and the customer service from the inside was great as well will definitely be using them for all of needs.

It was located very near my house, storage building and fence. I had Mike and his crew come out to my house and remove several trees and trim up one large tree. They were prompt and very courteous. They removed my trees quickly which was nice because I had to be at another appointment and I didnt have to wait at home all day for the job to be done. They cleaned up all of the wood trimmings and filled in the holes. A great company to deal with. I would definitely use them again.1/26/2018 Update:So I wanted to add that in addition to trimming my trees I also got a load of firewood from Thornton’s tree service this winter. He had the absolute lowest price on firewood after calling several firewood places. There was a great selection of mesquite, oak, pecan, and miscellaneous. I had a cord of oak wood delivered same day. The wood was seasoned well and had been burning great this winter. Will definitely get another load next winter!

I called Thorntons to have a roll off delivered so I could clean out my garage. I told him I only needed it for the day and he was more than willing to work with me. I called around town and the other guys wanted $600.00 plus just for the day. I am glad I called Thorntons because he beat them by a long shot. The service they provided was excellent. His driver and staff are very pleasant to talk with and always puts the customer first.

Thorntons Tree Service was great in our experience with them. We had a huge old tree taken out, with stump grinding, and another tree topped. They were a great team: working efficiently and working well together. I was very impressed.

They came out to give me an estimate on Monday. The estimate was exactly what I thought the job was worth. They were on the money. We accepted the estimate on the spot and asked when they could do the job. The reply was the following Wednesday. I was surprised that they could get to us that quick. I asked how many days in and out. The reply was 1 day and maybe it would run over into a partial second day. I was really surprised! I had 5 huge (50-60ft trees) that I wanted cut down to 14-16 feet. The result: They were here at 9:15 Wednesday morning, performed all of the work exactly as described and cleaned up and gone by 6:50 p.m. These guys are real professionals and do a great job. We just bought a place in Clyde Texas. It needed some major TLC so we started with the trees. I looked at reviews and decided on Thorntons hoping that all the reviews were true. They absolutely are! Mike came out the next day and two days later our place looks 100% better! He has the machinery and a fabulous crew to get the job done. They did all we asked and more! I know that Mike usually doesnt plant palm trees, but Mike said yes with a reasonable price as well. His crew came to my home on Elmwood and planted 3 20ft+ palms perfectly. His crew worked very hard as it was their first time to plant palms. I was awestruck at the way they manuevered the palms into place. I was kinda shocked when the truck came down Elmwood. Rather large, but Mike and his crew is a success at doing bigger than life jobs. Mike is completely out of the box and his crew doesnt stop until the work is finished and then they clean up. Really hard to find. The address hidden at the bottom of their website leads to a building with bareknuckle studios written on the front in huge letters. I tried opening the door, within the hours the door said they should be open, it was locked. None of the guys in the Thornton vehicles flagged me down to see what I wanted. I called the number on google and I THINK it went to a dispatch or something, because the guy said Im showing that the address is X. I go there and its some dudes house. How many people have bothered this poor guy since theyve moved?Update your information, and post your address. Make your business actually visible from the street, come on.

This tree service came in and cut down the next door neighbors trees and hacked any on the property line. The issue I have is that they left the trees uneven so that its now leaning over on our house and they refuses to do anything about it. Even after agreeing to trim up the trees so that they are even (Symmetrical) two days prior. When I went out and asked about it and why it was left that way. The owner then wanted to charge me 750.00 to trim them correctly. I informed the owner Mike Thornton that he was robbing me after getting 2100.00 from the guy next door! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

Awsome crew they are well seasoned and smart about every move every cut this second time i have gone with them and neighbors as well. They work fast and safe around power line to the house. Will definetly call again and again. Will rely on Thortons for the good cut and im not just barken.👍👍

My name is Mike Thornton, owner of Thorntons Tree Service and this is in response to Vaughn Voneisk. We were trimming the trees for someone that lives next to Mr Voneisk. The limbs were almost touching the roof of the man we were working for. Mr Voneisk came out cussing every other word telling us we were making his trees uneven. It is not against the law in the City of Abilene to cut in your airspace. Even if its on a neighbors tree. We are not required to make the trees even. But I did offer to raise his trees a little for free. He didnt want to do that. He wanted us to cut 12 diameter limbs on several trees and raise them way up. I gave him a very good price to do that. I even told him that I would beat other bids for the same work. Thorntons Tree Service also cut a big pile of wood for Mr Voneisk for free. And hauled it to a location in his front yard. Before we went there to do the job I was warned by several neighbors to watch out for this guy. Im going to warn the other tree services about this guy and not to do work for him.

Mike Thornton and his crew have removed numerous trees for me over the years. The first job I hired them to do at my personal residence consisted of removing seven 30-year-old mulberry trees. I swung by to check on them after lunch and they had already completed the job. They were very efficient, affordable and cleaned up nicely. Before leaving one of the guys from his crew walked me around the property to make sure everything was done to my liking.In addition to my personal experiences, I am a swimming pool builder and I always refer Mike Thornton to our customers who need trees removed before we build their swimmingpool.
