Our car broke down while we were on a road trip over 1,000 miles from home. We had AAA tow our car to proctor automotive and we are so glad we did. They were excellent to work with, gave us a fair price and even held onto our car for extra time when we needed to coordinate how to get our car back to us once it was finished. They always call me with diagnostic and repair cost before doing anything and they guarantee their work. After a recent accident they worked great with Gibbs paint and body to get our car back on the road. They are timely, reliable and honest!

They did an oil change on my BMW and also fixed a minor issue with my windshield wiper spray. The minor issue was so minor that I wasnt even charged for the service! Now thats down home service! I will be definitely going back if or when I need to.

Update 12/12/20- Car had been leaking fluid since the engine was replaced. Was told the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. Got that replaced and its still leaking. Was told the mechanic had the bottom plastic undercarriage off to inspect a vibration. And, to also find the leak. They didnt have enough time. But, if I can find this in my driveway and their experienced mechanics cant? Ill see yall Tuesday. Will give back 5 stars if fixed properly. Starting to make me wonder.

Honestly AAA brought me here because it was the closest place but they were excellent and handled everything so quickly. Great customer service and if I have any other issues Ill be calling them first.

Dropped Mercedes off to be looked at with just a stop car too low warning coming up on the dash and when I picked it up there was a check engine light on no one could explain to me why only tell me that it was already on when it got there but was not i more than likely will not be returning started off as 120 to diagnose problem no repairs were made and jacked up to 435 when everytime I called they stated they hadn’t even looked at the car yet. Dropped vehicle off able to drive it left with it worse than when I dropped it off only problem was suspension when I picked it up air conditioner also didn’t work which just had replaced not even a month ago I regret ever bringing my vehicle here they wanted to charge me to look at air conditioner that was obviously their fault it was not working

Very unique! Had vehicle towed to procter automotive on recommendation, was told that it would be Thursday or Friday of next week before it would even be looked at. Im from out of town and had no choice but to leave it. Later I got a call from Billy Johnson, service adviser for Procter, he told me my vehicle was ready. (This was the same day) Billy had gone out to move my vehicle and decided to look under the hood. He found loose wires, tightened them, did diagnostic tests and repaired the vehicle. Im extremely pleased and if ever in Abilene and need mechanical work on my vehicle they will get the call. Thank you Billy for incredible customer service.

Really good customer service. I was treated with a kind of respect that a lady doesnt always get. It was refreshing.They told me what they were going to do and they did it, and in a timely manner.

Took it in for popping noise which I could feel under my feet when I backed up and turning sharp. Mechanic test drove my vehicle and it did not make the noise, I even test drove it with him and it didn’t do it. The mechanic said the right front wheel was loose and the wheel bearing needed to be replaced, okay I said. The engine light was on so I was told I needed new spark plugs and spark plug wires, okay I said. The engine light was still on after the spark plugs and new wires were installed. I was told O2 sensors were bad and need to be replaced…aaahh…okay I said. I paid $1,780.83, the engine lights off…yeah…can’t tell any difference in how it runs…get home and back out of the driveway and there’s that pop again. A little afraid to take it back can’t afford another grand or so to fix things I didn’t even know were bad.There’s more history here too… Last summer I took my older model pickup to get the AC fixed.. bottom line is I paid around $700, it worked for a couple of months and guess what it doesn’t blow cold air again.I like a lot of people am not a mechanic although I do know a little. Most time we are that mercy of these auto repair shops. All I want is one I can completely trust and feel like I’m not being gouged.I really don’t like giving bad reviews because I was taught if you can’t say something good about someone don’t say anything at all.But enough is enough!I spent a lot of money trusting that our mechanical problems would be solved and they were not and that’s the bottom line.

The car needed an oil change. All inspections were made and the car runs great.. Procters keep my car like new!

After 5 months and no viable answers as to why our automobile wasn’t running correctly, we called Tom at Proctor Automotive at the suggestion of a friend. I thought I’d just be dealing with Tom. But the entire team (including Tom) was not only super friendly and professional, they were prompt to diagnose the problem, kept in contact with us, and knowledgeable about the engine issues. Every step of the way they let us know what to expect so there were no surprise charges.The guys at Proctor had our SUV back to us within a few days of starting the work. My husband and I are so thankful to the entire team. They truly care about the quality of their work. We feel blessed to have been referred to them!

Took my Escape to Proctors the first part of March because reviews were good. Took them well over 2 hours of me waiting in the waiting area before they told me what all was wrong with the front end of my vechile. Jay called me later that day with the cost of over 5 Grand to fix the front end. I agreed to have some of the parts that needed to be fixed immediately and that came out to $3700.00. I dropped off my car on a Monday morning at 730 am and told them I had to have my car back that day as my job DEPENDS on me having my car (its not a car to get to and from work, but a car to do my job). By 430 that afternoon my car had not moved from where they parked it across the street. Tuesday before lunch they finally called to say its ready. Got home and looked over the bill and then looked up the cost of parts and was charged 3 to 4 times more than what parts actually cost. The rack and pinion, for one part being replaced, they charged almost $1800 for the part alone, when the highest price I found was under $800.⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️BEWARE of this place as they will rob you blind⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ And also they replaced the struts and one of the struts is leaking, but you think they would fix their mistake, NOT A CHANCE. If you want to go broke fixing your car then this is the place to take it.

Proctor Automotive is a tremendous automotive service. The service I received was beyond reproach. It was the best I have received. My Ram almost lost its wheel while I was driving it near Abilene. It was towed to Proctor Automotive. On Monday morning, I was called concerning the situation. Later that day, it was repaired and a very fair price and continued on my trip. The communication was fantastic from Jay and Jimmy. Proctor searched for a wheel replacement since mine was damaged. Thank you for what you did to get us going!

They are very friendly. We had them do some work on our car. We got it back and had some problems related to what the fixed. They gladly accepted it back. They reworked everything they did and fixed the problem for free. I highly recommend this shop. Very professional and good people.

I was visiting from Dallas and my check engine light came on. Didn’t want to make the drive without making sure it wasn’t serious. They worked me in same day and I had a diagnosis within a couple hours. Professional, easy to work with and answered all my questions.

WARNING ⚠️This place is a scam!! ⚠️ I took my car to get a diagnostics test and tighten bolts simple maintenance and repairs which I was charged $1,188. When I got the car back the transmission mount is about to fall off the car, the cv axle bolts are missing, and they disconnected my coolant hose off the back of the motor. I was charged for parts that they didnt even put on my car. I am making this review to warn others so that they dont get scammed. I will be contacting the news stations police and an attorney.

I was referred to Procter Automotive for a power steering fluid leak. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts they needed and I made an appointment for the repairs. They had my car fixed by lunchtime. I really appreciated the fact that they could give me a ride to work and they also gave me a ride back to the shop after the repairs to pick up my car (thanks Steve!.) All in all a great experience. I would use them again!

I was told to drop my car off in the morning, and when I did and they were not able to get to it all day, I called them. They asked if I was the one who dropped it off after lunch and I was not.So after taking a full two days they told me that my head gasket was blown. I looked online and if my head gasket was blown there would be water in my engine and my car would not start. Instead I have a slight oil leak, most likely because of a valve cover gasket.I wish that I had not gone to Procter Automotive. I have heard good things about them, but my experience was bad communication and paying for a diagnosis that I am not sure is true.

Went to Procter auto 20 years ago for classic car repair. Walked in last month and they greated me by name. Thats crazy. Something to be said when the owner has that level of memory and employee retention. Same great service. Id consider bringing my car from DFW if it meant this level of honesty and service. Theres a reason they have been in business for as long as they have. Best mechanics in Abilene. Bar none.

Billy the service advisor was really good! I appreciate his part of my experience. However the customer service guys behind the desk... AWFUL...RUDE...! The entire 4 weeks my vehicle was at their shop, I never bothered them. Made minimal calls and was extremely understanding about how long it was taking. The one time I stopped in to check on my sons vehicle the guy behind the counter was huffy, short fused, and treated me like I was on his nerves! I know nothing about vehicles and it’s not my job to understand them. So when I’m paying you thousands of dollars the least you could do is be kind enough to explain without a harsh abrasive tone.

Proctor Automotive has become our Go To vendor when we need repairs to our vehicles. They always are very responsive to our concerns and manage to get us in quickly. They not only have taken care of our 2 vehicles we currently drive but have been awesome to consult/advise/repair my husbands 1979 Ford PU - his baby! And guess what? They follow up repairs with either a text, email, or call to ensure our satisfaction.

My car had stopped working after I had the corrosion cleaned off my battery at another garage. Called Procter and asked them when they could fix my car and they said they were booked till Thursday. I told them I really needed my car repaired what could they do for me. I was told to drop off my car and he would see if he could fit it in. I got a call the next day stating that it was the buildup of corrosion around the battery cables that was not cleaned off and they would take care of it for me. I picked up my car the next day and she starts up with no problem. Thank you for fitting me in and taking care of my car.

I tried taking my car to Firestone and was treated badly. The mechanics weren’t able to reproduce the issue, so they told me to get my car. I asked if they could do a few things, and was told no. I then broke down on the road again! I took my car to Procter, they had me diagnosed and back on the road within a week. The shuttle service was very helpful too!

Disappointed this time I was told I could get my original speedometer cluster fixed I had told them ((((((it was not working already)))))) that I was thinking of buying a used one they said why when they could fixed my original one that they had a person that could repair it I left my truck with them ((((they called me to let me know the speedometer was broke)))) and that particular speedometer was one that he didnt work on and if I wanted they could order a new one but would cost me over $700 or a used one for over $500 so I said no so they still charge me $138.90 for something I already told them. Thats Bad business

After an oil change shop tried to scare us into an expensive repair, we brought our car to Procter. They were fast, efficient, and above all honest about the fact that we didnt actually need it. Outside of that, they have done great work every time we bring a car in. One of the few shops anywhere that can actually be trusted.

My Subaru had an issue with the rear struts and shocks. I am new to town and everyone I asked advised me to check out Procter. They are very professional and very nice. The turn around wouldve been pretty quick but there was an issue with a part they had to order in. Otherwise they did a great job.

They worked diligently on my 2002 before I got on the road to Houston there were a lot of issuers with my truck but they made sure it was safe for me to drive. It is nice to find a shop in Abilene that will service my Audi Q5. The facility is very clean and the staff is professional. They offered a ride home during my oil change. Its not cheap, but nothing on the Audi has been. Thankfully my car hasnt required much service.

I brought them the most difficult problem I possibly could of, a hardtop Pontiac G6 where the top was not working. They were extremely professional and were straight forward. The part I appreciate the most was that they did not overcharge and were very fair with their prices!

I had quite a few issues with a GMC Acadia. Suspension, powersteering rack & pinion, a door cable, windshield washer pump etc. Used Proctor because of good reviews, and they did not disappoint! Vick was super helpful and friendly every time (even when I called in 5 minutes before they closed to ask questions lol) They handled all of the phone calls and approvals with my PITA car warranty. He even lined up a rental car. The work was performed extremely fast, and he kept me updated every step of the way. Will definitely use them again in the future. Keep it up guys!

So far I made an appointment, took the car in at 7:30am, was told it would be same day diagnostics (Was not expecting it to be fixed same day-Only a call as to what was needing done), was promised I would receive a call back. No call. Even after I called close to the end of the day (for them) to make sure all was well....they said About to look at it now, Ill call as soon I know something. Last I heard. Called back and no one was there. Drove by and closed. My car was in the same place it was parked at 7:30am. I even waited a few days for the appointment. I wouldnt be mad if they said it was going to have to say there. They did not. All they DID say was we will call you back. Again, they did not. I would think it to be basic customer service to honor your word and at the very least inform your customers of what is going on. Communication goes a long way.Will update after they open again.
