After 12 years and a few weeks ago over heating my 09 Compass’s transmission because the cooler fins were full of bugs, the fluid broke down. I called Certified Transmission & Auto Repair and they got me in that afternoon. They drained the fluid, checked for mechanical issues, and refilled the transmission in less than an hour. I am extremely pleased with the work that was done. I am taking my Jeep back to them next week to do a complete brake job. The quality of the work and the very reasonable cost has made them my go to shop.

This place is amazing. I brought my car in after it started to make a horrible noise while accelerating (on my way to Yellowstone) and was informed it was my PTU which I had no idea was even a thing. The man who was there was honest about how much it would cost, and even helped me in deciding I should just buy a new car as the repair was more than what my car was valued for. He recommended me to a Ford dealership where I found a new, wonderful car and was able to continue my trip through Glacier and Yellowstone National Park. The best part was that there was no charge for his diagnosis. Super helpful to me as someone who isn’t very understanding of vehicles. I highly recommend!

These guys were great. I was traveling across country and I needed rotors and pads, they helped me out and got me back on the road. Thank you again for helping me out on my truck.

This place is a life saver! We were on a road trip traveling through Montana all the way from Kansas and my transmission speed sensor failed. They were more than helpful, going above and beyond to help us. Mike looked at my car and was able to get a part ordered for the next day. He was even going to stay after hours to put the new part in, but unfortunately Ford sent the wrong one. He was extremely kind and patient. We were supposed to hit the road again the following morning so he explained what part I would need, what I would need to do to change it, and cleared the codes. The next day I tried hunting down the part and couldn’t find one anywhere on our route. I called him back and he let me know that he could have the new part in and installed the next morning. Mike never charged me for looking at my vehicle or clearing the codes and was extremely reasonable on the cost of putting the new part in. I’m so glad we found Certified Transmissions.

I would give zero stars if I could. I work 40 miles away and spoke with the incredibly rude guy that answers the phone (I think its the owner) on Friday and explained my situation and asked if they would have time to look at and possibly repair it on Monday. He told me they could definitely look at it but no guarantees on same day repairs without knowing the issue- fair enough. Because I leave so early for work, took the vehicle there on Sunday night and used the key drop. I had to make arrangements to borrow a vehicle because of where I work. Today, I call to see if they had looked at the vehicle yet. Same rude person answers the phone-Hi I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to look at my car yetNopeUmmm...ok...will someone have a chance to look at it todayProbably notThat was literally the interaction. Incredibly rude and unprofessional AND disrespectful considering the arrangements I had to make to find another vehicle to use for the day and have someone follow me there so I could drop it off. I will most certainly NEVER spend a dime at this place and will make sure to spread the word. RUDE!!Edit to add: What a surprise that I would get a rude response from the owner. I did NOT ask to have my car looked at first thing Monday morning. I explained I would drop it off Sunday night and they would have ALL DAY- until I get home from work at 5:30, to take a look at the vehicle. At no point was ANYTHING explained to me about a staff shortage, or anything else for that matter. I heard nothing from the shop all day long and called prior to me leaving my job at 4:30 when I had the interaction with the incredibly rude man that answered the call. If there was an issue with them being able to look at my car, they could have called and let me know. Even without a phone call, when I called the shop this could have been explained instead of the complete rudeness I experienced. You can add the fact that the owner is not only completely rude, but also a blatant liar.

Beware of $534 per hour shop rate! Im from Spokane, WA. On Dec 6th 2020 I took off on a trip. While going down Homestake pass I lost my transfer case. I was towed back to Butte. On the morning of the 7th. I found certified transmission. I limped the truck to their shop. Upon arrival I was told that they couldnt look at it until the next day (8th). They said all they could do at the moment was plug in their code reader and check for obvious codes. Most auto parts stores provide this basic service for free. I didnt think much of it until after they read the codes. They handed me a piece of paper that said the same thing the screen on my dash said and then informed me that I owed them $89! They spent a grand total of 10 minutes with me and told me absolutely nothing! They never mentioned charging to do what any autoparts store around will do for free. They clearly were just gouging a stranded motorist from out of town. This is probably the most shady and dishonest shop that I have had the misfortune to come across.

I am so happy with my experience here. While driving through on a road trip my battery light came on. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue, give me an estimate and complete the work immediately. I was back on the road with only an hour and a half of time lost. The customer service was amazing, the prices were fair, and the couches in the lobby were cozy. I would highly recommend it.

Mike at Certified Transmission is absolutely amazing! I’ve never met someone so willing to help in any way possible. I live in Bozeman but broke down in Butte and these guys came highly recommended, and I now know why! They let me come back on a Saturday to get valuables out of my car and even let us borrow a few tools. It’s refreshing to go to a shop where they’re invested in you and not just your money. Wow customer service is by far the best .... got us in and out ASAP top quality service,top quality parts.....We had a transmission go out on us 30 miles from butte. Did a little google search read some reviews and found certified transmission and auto repair to be our best beat .. called late on a Friday night after business hours expecting to leave a voice mail for Monday!!!!!!!! Nope someone answered and got us in the shop around 11pm Friday night. Back on the road Tuesday afternoon great service. Thanks mike for all your help.

We had to stop on our way passing through because of car troubles, and they did an excellent job of taking care of us. After diagnosing the problem and discussing with us, they told us we could probably keep driving so we didn’t have to spend the night at a hotel. They could have told us we needed to stay and then charged us for the repair, but it was very honest of them to tell us we could probably make it. They were knowledgeable and professional the whole time. Would definitely use this shop as my go to if I didn’t live far away.

I wanted to take the time and thank Mike last Tuesday for helping me and my daughter out. Me and my daughter was on a road trip from Washington State to Ohio. While on our road trip, her temp gauge came on, letting us know the transmission was running hot. We were in Montana at the time. The nearest transmission place was in butte, Montana. So we went there. I went inside and explained our situation about my daughters Jeep Patriot to Mike and he came right out to scan it for any problems. He didnt find anything. Thank God. He advised we were pretty loaded down and going up and down hills didnt help out either. He said to just park the car and let it sit for 30 minutes. He saw we had dogs in the back, so he told us of a couple dog parks to go to. Thats what we did and we were all the better for it. Thanks again Mike for helping us have a safe drive back to Ohio and giving us peace of mind. What a great customer service person you are. That company is fortunate to have you working for them Thanks so MUCH .

Was traveling from Minneapolis to Seattle with my boyfriend and we stopped in Butte for a couple of days. He had some issues with his car and was able to get it fixed in less than one day. Wonderful service! Timely and friendly.

On Friday my Transfer case went out at the Butte exit, fortunately the four wheel drive worked. I met Mike at the shop after hours, he found us a hotel room and drove us there. I waited til Tuesday to drop by the shop to find out it still wasn’t done. Mike bought us lunch then drove us to the airport to pick up my rental car. I came back Friday and they had just finished it. Mike picked us up at the airport after I dropped off the rental. Its supposed to take eight hours to rebuild a transfer case not 40 and I ended up with a whole new transfer case instead of rebuilding the old one which had a new case. The shop price was fair but I paid $450 for the rental plus four nights at a hotel.5 stars for customer service.2 stars for taking so long.Works great and it’s been a month since the work was done. 2004 Silverado 1500

It took them almost 3 months to do a 1 week job, we got the truck back, they took off my husbands exhaust and didn’t put it back on, they painted the upper intake without our knowledge, didn’t put pcv valve back in, they charged us a lot extra after having our vehicle an insane amount of time. We’ve had to go in and tighten almost all of the bolts on the oil pan because they didn’t, the drain plug was leaking because it wasn’t tightened down. Definitely won’t recommend to anyone and will not be taking our business back there until they hire a knowledgeable mechanic. Mike is great! The mechanic TJ I think is what was on the receipt not so much!

When I rolled into town from Minneapolis on my way to Idaho with an engine that was about to quit on me, and the local dealership suggested I get a hotel room for a few days until they could fit me in, I searched for a trusted local repair and diagnostic shop. Certified came top rated and when I rolled into their lot, they fit me right in their schedule and promised to do what they could to get me on the road that day. After determining that the repair work would be extensive, they cut to the chase and did not perform any unneeded work. Great customer service!

We hit an object while traveling on I-90 and needed to have our SUV looked at for damage. Tremendous customer service - no appointment, got our car up on the lift and the problems identified within minutes. We’re out of towners, but know if they give top quality service to passers by, they will definitely take care of anyone and we’d be sure to have our vehicles serviced here regularly. We highly recommend using this shop!

AMAZING SERVICE: My brother and I were driving to Yellowstone through Montana when my transmission started acting up. We took a AAA to Certified Transmission but didnt get there until Friday at 4 pm, 1 hour before they closed for the weekend. The worker agreed to take a look and said it was our water pump that was freezing up, putting the Transmission in lock down mode (Thank God). He ordered the Water Pump, and came in during his free time on Saturday morning to install it for us! We were able to leave by 2 pm, and were still able to spend a couple days in Yellowstone AND make my flight in Denver by Monday. Life Saver!!!!

This shop saved my life! I don’t know many people in Butte and my dad normally repairs my car but he just died. I was so worried about calling a shop. They had the best customer service and did such a great job repairing my car! I will never go anywhere else! I wish I could give them 10 stars!

Brought my Yukon in to them because the transmission was acting up. They looked it over and let me know it was going to have to be replaced. They did a awesome job. Got it done as quick as they could. I just brought my rig back in for the 2 week follow up and Mike checked out a couple other things that were going on and let us know what needed to be done. Being new to the Butte area we are loving that we found this amazing shop. We will be coming back to them.

I was traveling on a long country-wide road trip when my check engine light came on and the people at Auto-Zone told me the codes read transmission and directed me to Certified Transmission for more help. These guys were fantastic and quickly made time to check out my car so I could be on my way as soon as possible. They looked it over completely, even test-driving it to make sure it was safe for me to keep going. Im so grateful to Certified Transmission!

They seemed nice enough… But I do have to warn people to be wary. These guys quoted me originally for about 200 bucks to change the transmission fluid. After five minutes of inspecting that went up to about $700. We were kind of in a rut on our way down to Utah and I think that they were wanting to take advantage of that. And the fact that we were in the middle of our trip. Our car was overheating. But we felt like we should go with our gut feeling and try to make the rest of our trip. We had it checked when we got to Utah and again when we got home in Idaho… And nothing was wrong with the transmission Or engine. It had just overheated a little bit on the trip and it was nothing to be worried about. We were glad that we didn’t end up being able to get serviced here because now we see that we would have been overcharged for nothing. It pays to get a second opinion. I can’t say if these guys were trying to take Advantageof us or we’re not thorough in their inspection. I hope you can be more honest or more thorough in your future inspections.

Highly recommend! Broke down on a Friday night while driving through. Called nearly every shop in Butte, MT the next morning (Saturday) to try to find one that could help. Even though they werent technically open, Mike at Certified Transmission & Auto Repair answered and was willing to interrupt his Saturday to come in and help diagnose my Subarus drivetrain issues for a very reasonable fee. Mike took the time to open up his shop, run some diagnostics, refilled some fluid and tweaked some settings to get me back on the road such that I could more easily address the underlying problem back at home and avoid a >$600 towing bill. And he even called me later that day to check in on the car and make sure I made it safely. Certified Transmission also came highly recommended by the tow truck driver who uses them for all of his and his families needs (that he cant do himself). Thanks Mike, truly above and beyond!

I dont normally write reviews, but these guys are awesome. We were passing through on our way back from Washington to South Dakota. Our van started acting up around Butte MT. This shop was the only shop willing to look at our van at 4pm. They stayed open late and got us back on the road. On top of that they were very friendly. Id give them 10 stars if I could.

My fiance and I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this crew! They took the time to order an alternator and replace the bad one in my Equinox (which was a pain in the butt) and went through checking which fuses needed replacing. I highly recommend this shop! Im grateful for all their hard work and dedication!!

If I could I would give them 100 stars! These mechanics were truly wonderful. Honest, empathetic, and helpful. They fit us in and they were done with the work a day early. I was traveling in a dodge ram van from Yellowstone through Montana. We had the van serviced in Bozeman and that shop made a mistake- clamped a tube to our transmission- and by the time we got to Butte our transmission was completely fried! Certified Transmission & Auto Repair caught the problem right away, they were so informative, and extremely helpful. They recommended a great place for us to stay- just a couple miles from the shop. We got to know Buttes fascinating history. The trust that I had for Certified Transmission & Auto Repair eased my anxieties- the vans new transmission is a bute! Thanks you guys! (I made it to California- but Ill try to have my cars break down in Butte from now on!)

I had some leaking from my automatic transmission cooler lines over time that got worse but the parts were no longer manufactured anymore. Mikes shop built new custom ones for my Jeep Wrangler like theyd been doing it all their lives. Great work and the price was right!

Just stopped in to ask a question about my 95 powerstoke. Gentlemen behind the counter was rude and wouldnt even allow me to ask my question. He told me that he was only hired to take them out and put them in. He actually said, I dont know anything about transmissions. I would never want a person to work on my truck with that horrible attitude. By far the most idiotic person ive met in a while. Like Ron White says, you cant fix stupid.

We lost our transmission 20 miles from butte 5 hours from home the fourth of July week.. They towed us to town for free on a thursday and estimated a Tuesday completion. The costs and trouble for us to stay were substantial. Mike found a rebuilt on the shelf and found additional parts overnight and delivered the vehicle to us by 3pm the next day. Unbelievable service. Thanks again. The warranty being interstate was a real convincer.

For those who have written bad reviews, be man or women to leave a name and number so they could contact you. Some people need to look in the mirror before they post idot remarks and just lie. My family and I have been doing business with Certified for over a decade and they have served us and the community with nothing but respect and loyalty.

Friendly and they do exceptional work.

We were on our way through town and had a spark plug wire go out. Certified Transmission and Auto Repair diagnosed the problem, then changed the plugs, wires and gave us an oil change and had us back on the road in about 2 hours. I highly recommend them.

Constantly push off oil changes and workers play on their phone and bs rather than taking care of the customer. Im very disappointed and disgusted with their service. Hopes this helps people.
